Yale Says Its Artistic Prodigy Was Just Engaging In “Performance Art” UPDATE: Yale lied, it’s real, says freak
No fetuses were conceived or destroyed in the creation of Aliza Shvarts’s assignment, they assure us, and shame on us for believing that they were:
Ms. Klasky went on to suggest that Yale would not have permitted a project of the sort described in the student newspaper. “Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns.”
Don’t worry, wingnuts, she was just using menstrual blood and vaseline as an artistic medium. Happens every day. it’s art. You wouldn’t understand.
P.S. Yale’s art department has sure come a long way. Here’s the work of a guy who went there to study art in the 1800’s:
That’s Frederic Remington’s A Dash For The Timber. It’s about macho gay cowboys who are fleeing the persecution of heteronormativity. I believe the medium was oil on canvas, but it may have been menstrual blood on human skin. I’ll have to check on that.
UPDATE, AND BUMP: Miss Thang is doubling down and calling Yale’s press office a bunch of liars:
But Shvarts stood by her project, calling the University’s statement “ultimately inaccurate.”
…
But Shvarts reiterated Thursday that she repeatedly use a needleless syringe to insert semen into herself. At the end of her menstrual cycle, she took abortifacient herbs to induce bleeding, she said. She said she does not know whether or not she was ever pregnant.
“No one can say with 100-percent certainty that anything in the piece did or did not happen,” Shvarts said, “because the nature of the piece is that it did not consist of certainties.”
Somebody’s lying here. Yale says she swore to three University officials that she didn’t do it, and now she says she did.
I know who I believe. And I hope I’m wrong. (What’s interesting is that, according to the Yale Daily News, even the National Abortion Rights League chimed in to denounce Shvarts’s project. )
UPDATE x2: Weak game. You’re going to have to train harder if you want to compete in the Pathetically Pretentious Collegiate Crazy Art Olympics.

I thought so, especially after Salt’s answer to my question in the last thread.
Michelle and others, should we really be suprised? Should we really be dismayed that in the name of “art” something as vile as purposefully aborting multiple times so that they can judge our reaction and call us callous and intolerant?
Are we REALLY suprised?
Tomorrow the story will be updated that she’s been a Conservative Republican her entire life, life that gal up in Maine.
newsflash, it still does.
First Post.
My guess is that someone suggested confessing to a hoax is preferable to being charged for multiple counts of pre-meditated homocide.
Pool Time: will she be investigated, and how many public confessions will be enough to get the DA to leave her and a certain Department at Yale alone?
Condemnation prior to investigation.
Typical Malkin Commentor.
“Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns.”
Uhhh, just thinking about them raises some serious concerns… must be something in the ivy.
You’re right, Mortis. It’s no surprise that somebody would do something this vile in the name of art.
It also shows just how uncaring some people are about unborn children to perform or allow an act like this.
A new low in the name of “art”. I am relieved this is all some sort of hoax. But calling this exercise “art” is a stretch, even for not too bright liberals.
“Ms. Shvarts is engaged in performance art,” a Yale spokeswoman, Helaine Klasky, said. “She stated to three senior Yale University officials today, including two deans, that she did not impregnate herself and that she did not induce any miscarriages. The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.”
Ms. Klasky went on to suggest that Yale would not have permitted a project of the sort described in the student newspaper. “Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns.”
Other, she admitted she lied. No investigation needed

Oh, do we need a Congressional investigation to tell us that the waddling, quacking bird is a duck?
Kudos to Ms. Shvarts. Kudos.
Now all she has to do is off herself so like all the great masters she can be truly appreciated post-mortem. Or maybe not.
It doesn’t matter, Red, Other is incorrect. The gal admitted she lied. There is no need to investigate.
Only thing to investigate is if how many screws she has loose and if Daddy is going to pay her final tuition bill.
Criticism after jumping to conclusions.
Typical critic of Malkin commentors.
So you were willing to give her the benefit of the doubt when she lied and had EVERYONE fooled? Except you of course. Enlightened liberals have that extra allele that enables them to detect lying. You just wanted to see us squirm.
Those people are truly sick…really sick.
I didn’t know Yale had any ethical standards.
My post was in reference to here and here.
It still makes me question how mentally (un)stable she is for even thinking this way to begin with.
She’s still a sick B*tch.
What say the posters here pony up $4.11 for one of these?
That should help her with this:
Reminds me of the performance artist (or idiot - whatever you prefer) that strapped a ‘bomb’ to herself and walked into an airport. Real edgy, man. If this sort of art were performed in a communication vacuum, would it still be called art? If I never heard of it would it have the same impact? If she (and the flag-desecrating student in Maine) were unknown to me and everyone else, would it matter one whit, other than to her family? Some things are news, but the rest is crap.
Other side, you forgot the update when you posted your second reference. Another example of jumping to conclusions and then criticizing.
Mortis & all, I am a “big picture” guy by trade… so in 10-15 years when she is running for Congress with a Yale degree & a “history of fighting for women’s rights” will anyone remember this??
I doubt it… let’s nip it in the bud now while we still can.

Yep.
As I said on the other thread, even if a hoax, this is still depravity.
Looks like this was a hoax…well, this sick, twisted kid says it was a hoax.
We are told that no embryoes were conceived nor destroyed.
I guess menstrual blood and vaseline were still used.
It’s still depravity.
‘Course, it’s this sick, twisted kid who is admitting that it was a hoax, and saying that no embryoes were etc, etc.
I certainly cannot assert not prove she is not telling the truth; but the fact that she is of so sick and twisted a mind as to think up and pull such a (fill in the worst adjective you can think of) trick does not reassure me that she is absolutely telling the truth now.
Let me repeat: “I certainly cannot assert not prove she is not telling the truth….”
But, I still sort of get the feeling of the ?riddle:
“Everything (any name here - let’s say, Sauron) says is a lie.”
Sauron now says, “I’m lying.”
So, is Sauron now telling the truth, or is he lying?
#18…Well, when I copied it, it was #17.
She wanted to make a statement, and the media were more than happy to offer her a platform for it — why on the blog of perpetual outrage alone she scored two posts and nearly 300 comments in a single day.
Not bad for a college student of marginal [at best] artistic talent.
Blood, urine or crap.Makes no difference. If anyone thinks it should be used in”art”, they’re in a whole other orbit from mine.
Excuse me. I’m stepping away for 10 to take out Rover for his nightly um, er…performance art project.
Too funny Granite, I’m always just missing the finish line.
The fact still remains: the mentality behind such a sick, sick piece of “performance art” is evil.
As I said in the other thread - a close friend of mine had a miscarriage. It is not in any way performance OR art. It is heartbreaking and devastating.
Ambiguity of the form and function of my body? Funny, I always thought I was female and my uterus was the way I biological conceived and bore children.
Guess I’m just confused. It’s really just a box (reference intended) from which I can “choose” to bring life or allow death.
The only ambiguity here is moral ambiguity - bred in this “artist” by a culture that openly embraces, welcomes, and celebrates death as a “choice”.
Shouldn’t the Yale Daily News have had some sort of disclaimer that their article was part of a “performance art” piece?
I wonder when the Ivy League art departments are going to teach their students the difference between notoriety and talent.
SOP
I’ve, unfortunately, gotten a little jaded by all of this “art” done for shock value. It’s just not avant garde anymore when it’s the fourth or five sculpture made from some form of bodily excretion…
I think art like this is extremely distasteful and probably shouldn’t be sponsored by a university, but it’s just a cry for attention by someone who can’t think of anything genuinely creative to do.
Ditto, jellibean,ditto……….
Aliza Schvartz is essentially a beast. Her punishment is banishment to the loon-left for life.
Oh, she’s fine with that now, but let’s see how well it works after a few decades.
I’ve had the distinct privelege of seeing octogenarian atheist leftists spewing venom like you can’t believe, knowing that the God they have reviled and denied all these decades is about to call them before the bench for judgement.
Aliza can be saved, of course, but I doubt if she will make that choice.
No, Aliza gets to spend her coming decades in increasing bitterness - the real kind, not the Obama kind - realizing that she has made a terrible mistake.
That’s quite a table you’ve set for yourself. Bon appetit, young ‘lady.’
Frederic Remington’s “A Dash for the Timbers” is IMHO real art bringing to life the rough and tumble Wild West. Too bad Yale can no longer produce artist of such caliber. I hope this sick young lady is not pursuing a Liberal Arts degree if so she has a fine future ahead as a disgruntled barista at the local Starbucks.

I agree, EQ.
I almost used evil as my “worst adjective” in my post above.
You’re absolutely right.
This episode still, be it a hoax, is nonetheless an example of the whirlwind being reaped because of…well, I won’t repeat it again.
Let’s leave it at, “Thanks again, 60s!”
Somebody’s daddy didn’t hug her enough.
Remind me again–how much is a year’s tuition at Yale?
Her
mom and dadparental units must be proud of their little girl.Yes, but art isn’t about beauty or truth anymore. It’s not about glorifying God or lifting up mankind.
Art has be re-defined by talentless, self-absorbed, attention-seeking hacks. Now art is about eliciting an emotional response, and that’s about it.
And that’s what she did.
Look on the bright side. The fact that she did elicit an emotional response indicates that we’re human (in all the best ways) and still capable of emotional responses. You’d have to be pretty hollow (I’m looking at you huggybear) not to have an emotional response to the stunt she pulled.
I said Commentors…not the Typical Malkin Post. Take a look and you might see some real condemnation there.
She still has a special place in Hell for this stunt. Congratulations on your statement as part of the Look At Me generation and I hope you never miscarry a baby you really want. Somehow I don’t think you’d see it as an artistic statement.
Perhaps.
For her project, she should’ve made a t-shirt that said, “My Mummy Spent $500,000 On A Posh Education And All I Got Was This Worthless BFA.”
Yale once required: “All scholars shall live religious, godly, and blameless lives according to the rules of God’s Word, diligently reading the Holy Scriptures, the fountain of light and truth; and constantly attend upon all the duties of religion, both in public and in secret.”
How far they’ve fallen.
So she either lied then or she lied now.
When dealing with an admitted liar it is difficult to understand which lie to believe.
The initial “lie” was so awful, decent people want to believe it was a lie.
However on the other hand the “second potential lie” is such a relief, it is easy to forget it is coming from an admitted liar.
So in the end, when dealing with an admitted liar, the only prudent course of action is an investigation.
I doubt Yale will want to, but it appears they must, as the implications are too horrible to simply trust the facts, to those given by an admitted liar.
Welcome to the personal hell of the pathetic mind, reprobates such as this person will subject us all to.
Aliza will probably do well for herself, especially if John Edwards needs a blogmaster in four years.
I would like for an independent obstetrician to take a good hard look at the footage she claims to have. A trained eye can tell if this is a hoax or the real deal. Regardless it’s sociopath-type behavior. It’s sick and amoral. Plain and simple.
Yale’s Artistic Prodigy? Was she doing this bipolar artwork at a very precocious age?
It looks like liberal “art” is all over the news today. This one even made Foxnews:

Performance art?!?!? Who in their right mind would want to look at something like that?
It does make you wonder if Hillary’s campaign is performance art.
TheOtherSide said:

Check and mate.
Either she got lucky by having a silly performance piece get a decent amount of national publicity, or else we got lucky - by directing enough attention to this “oeuvre*” as to prevent a grant or two from going her way.
I am curious to see if she makes any money out of this - they do have some business courses at Yale, maybe she took one.
*or more likely hors d’oeuvre
her 15 is almost up.
““No one can say with 100-percent certainty that anything in the piece did or did not happen,” Shvarts said, “because the nature of the piece is that it did not consist of certainties.””
and there you have it america — a woman about to receive a degree from one of this county’s elite institutions, who is so brain-addled she can’t tell the truth because such a concept does not exist to her!

and just think, her vote counts as much as yours …
Didn’t realize it had started.
Condemnation is called for..
A: Being sensational by saying ‘yes, real babies on display.. and they are mine’ if only for press for an art show.. And the aborted babies are only elaborate hoaxes..
B: Being so callus that she actually got pregnant, killed her baby, repeat.. put on display in a jar of ether..
did she that classic twilight zone with the ‘what’s in the jar of mystery’ too many times?

Are they trying to out lie each other?
“Are they trying to out lie each other?”
i hadn’t thought of that angle!
“now look here, young lady! yer an undergrad — we’re the public affairs office — we lie to the press day in and day out for decades!”

This miscreant supports my long-held belief that the core of the radical feminist movement is comprised of women who have serious problems dealing with their own sexuality. Every aspect of their platform somehow always gets back to some reference about their vagina and the things that go into and come out of it. They have an overwhelming tendency to be cloistered in academia because it is the perfect place to retreat from the real world. Read the works of Carol Gilligan, Catharine MacKinnon, Andrea Dworkin, and others of their ilk, and you will consistently find a woman who is in serious internal turmoil about her own womanhood. Rather than becoming “activists”, I feel they would be better served by psychotherapy.
Oh god….
I have to admit even I am slightly embarrassed to be a liberal right now.
This is getting really surreal.
LMFAO!!!
See-dubya, you’re a freakin’ *hoot*
When I first read this story and thought “WTF”, I truly hoped this was a hoax. If this disturbed hack of an ‘artist’ had in fact conceived and destroyed any fetuses I could deal with that, too, although it would, of course, turn my stomach. The part of this story that would have caused me a terrible amount of distress would have been if any other person on the face of this planet had thought her behavior was ‘art’ and also a good idea. It seems the world isn’t completely mad after all.
“No one can say with 100-percent certainty that anything in the piece did or did not happen,” Shvarts said, “because the nature of the piece is that it did not consist of certainties.”
If you guys recall, I stated earlier today that these people cannot escape the Grey Area. This brain-broken girl, as a certainty, has no sense of decency, much less any clue whatsoever of what being a woman entails.
I can say a one other thing, with certainty, about this mess:
It was not created by an artist.
Follow the $$$$$$$$
How many tax dollars (yours and my money) have been used via grants and et. al. to this ivy league “art” program?
Just asking
In any case, I hope she gets some professional help. Gal has issues. Heck, gal has subscription.

Does “art” remove you from any responsibility?
Does Laura Ingram make campus calls? I think she needs to go and explain life to this wacko.
dfern:
Exactamundo! I’ve never met an attractive woman who uttered something as nonsensical as “The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.”
It’s the ugly ones who have questions about the “function of a woman’s body.” Just take a look at the photo of Aliza. It’s not difficult to imagine the Shvarts waking up in the morning, walking to a mirror and saying “Dude, what’d you do with Aliza?”
As for your suggestion to read Carol Gilligan, Catharine MacKinnon, Andrea Dworkin, et.al., that is cruel and unusual punishment.
Rider, I know she’s from CT, but from where I dunno….
And it’s a shame too, because I’m from CT, heh heh.
Here is the latest liberal speak from Yale:
Here is the link for the entire article in today’s Yale Daily news: http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/24532
Apparently you need an entire center to come up with this type of thought!
So if she’s telling the truth (God help us) and the folks at Yale have said this project would have “violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns” - will there be consequences?
By their own statement they’d have to admit she violated ethical standards, surely Yale codes provide for some sort of consequence.
No doubt in my mind that I - as an English major - would have been thrown out on my rear had I plagiarized.
As someone else said - either she lied then or she’s lying now. Regardless, will she face disciplinary action? The most justifiable consequence would be for this “project” to receive a failing grade and for her to have to re-do the semester’s work.
I just can’t seem to understand those who are liberal who are ashamed of her. True, there are “moderate” liberals, but the mantra of most on the left is that you “can’t legislate morality” and “everything’s relative” - how can you not expect this to be a natural outgrowth of that mentality?
How can you not expect people to do something so evil, call it “art” (or “self-expression” or some other euphemism of their choice) and expect no consequence or judgment for their actions?
After all, if this is her “truth” if this is her “reality”…who are we to judge, right? That’s what we’re always told.
This is what moral relativism hath wrought. And what she did happens - legally and state-approved - 4,000 times a day in this nation. Often for reasons no more weighty than the baby is an inconvenience or “unwanted”.
Then people like Barack Obama wonder why we “cling” to religion. The more I see this crap going on in the world around me, the more it makes me so thankful for my faith and my Church and her teachings. Disagree if you must, but stuff like this makes my beliefs ring all the more correct. You cannot separate morality from God and expect things like this not to happen.
The statement continued:
…unless she’s suffering from PMS, then she’s free from any responsibility for her actions.
B.S.
Shvarts’ took the lives - the individual bodies - of any children she created and aborted for the sake of “art”.
Sorry, you may argue that life doesn’t begin at conception, blah, blah, blah, but that developing human in her womb is just that - a developing human being. Genetically that baby is not a lizard, or a bird, or a dog. That baby is a human. With his own unique DNA and genetic make-up.
I love how my body is an “instrument” and the body of an unborn child is just…garbage.
Way to go, moral relativists. I hope you’re really proud of yourselves for the growth of such asinine logic.
The question now is back to the deans at Yale,
“What time does the investigation begin?
Who will run this investigation?
What methods will be utilized to determine the real facts surrounding this event?
If it is found that the initial story is true, then what punative measures will be taken?
If it is found that the individual manipulated the story to create a sensationalistic atmosphere for her project, how will Yale deal with that?
Or is this type of behavior acceptable to the Yale faculty?
I could go on…..
One day, beyond this vale of tears, it will be possible for this creature to look back and observe how banal and silly she was and how much of God’s precious time she wasted.
the sad thing is no matter what, if someone is objecting to her ‘display’ then she cries ‘censorship’
same way people are ‘racists’ for not voting Barry O..
TOS - If you think so low of us, why do you stay here?
I think this comment of yours is very misleading. From what I recall, Michelle and most of the people commenting prefaced their intitial remarks with things like, “if this is true,” “I hope we’re wrong about this,” and “whether or not this is a hoax.” Everyone seemed to understand that there was a possibility of falsehood. The discussion centered around the idea that if this is true this is the problem with it. Additionally, there was talk about ‘if this is some sort of look-at-me-I’m-so-bold-and-controversial performance art than it is still sick because…’
The way I see it, if it was all a lie, this sick girl still deserves condemnation for her trivialization of life. Plus, it sounds like either way she is using a combination of menstrual blood, pure shock value, and the topic of abortion to pretend she is an artist. Without reading over them again, I would say that most of the comments yesterday still hold true.
All I can say about this whole thing is this: It…is…abominable.
Life, especially unborn life, is far, far too precious to tolerate the kind of appalling behavior this Yale student is guilty of.
A few comments:
1)I hold with those who said, “either she was lying then or she’s lying now.” Doesn’t Yale have an honor code?? My (late, lamented) alma mater did, and there were serious penalties for lying. They were enforced by the students!
2) Her faculty advisor needs a checkup from the neck up. So it’s “thought provoking”– big deal. Don’t suppose they bothered to provoke a thought for all the other art students whose degrees and reputations are now tainted by association?
3) Read this somewhere on the blogosphere this past week; please excuse the paraphrase and the lack of attribution– but it was something like, “Morality is not the choice between doing good or doing evil; that part’s pretty obvious and doesn’t require a lot of thought. Morality is in the choice between two grey areas.”
(and for you Bill Whittle fans, it kind of gives “Tribe of Grey” a whole new meaning–and I say this with great respct.)
The Yale Women’s Center can no more disown her than their own uteruses. We do not think this piece of art is actually particularly controversial.
It’s about macho gay cowboys who are fleeing the persecution of heteronormativity.
LMAO….
I can’t say it emphatically enough.
This woman needs our prayers, needs someone to bring her to a hospital, sit her down and explain to her just how evil an act this was.
It is a hateful and evil thing that she has done, regardless of whether she’s lying or not. The very fact that she’d be willing to represent her work as what she’s described shows that she is irrevocably mentally ill.
Right after we find out who hung the Columbia ‘noose’.
This woman should be on 24 hour watch in Creedmore. If they don’t want her, The F.B.I should have a room on standby.
Yale. Isn’t that the school where Hillary learned the “art” of lying.
You know they’ve just got to be bitter as hell. They have guns! And they’re using them!
Yale lied! Kids died!
I heard on Laura Ingraham while driving to work this morning about the sociopath insisting she really did try to impregnate herself and stimulating abortions (sorry, that’s what it is).
So we have a case where a) the sociopath is lying, in which case she should be disciplined if not expelled for academic dishonesty; b) the sociopath really did engage in this grotesque exercise in disregard for human life, in which case she should be disciplined if not expelled and her advisors need to be disciplined if not fired.
You know there’s strange mojo going on if NARAL is condemning something yet the Man Hater’s, er, Women’s Center thinks it’s swell. If the angry man haters at the Women’s Center can’t bring themselves to feel any sort of compassion for the unborn life the sociopath might have ruthlessly and unfeelingly destroyed for something as trivial as an art project, then why can’t they show concern that at the very least this sociopath is abusing her own body. Think about it…even if she was never pregnant, stimulating the uterus to shed its lining over and over again cannot be healthy. By its logic, the Man Hater’s Center would be fine with cutting, anorexia, bulimia, and suicide as legit uses of one’s own body.
And no one seems to give a rat’s patootie about the sociopath’s wellbeing. Not Yale. Not the feminists. Not even the sociopath’s parents.
She is firmly securing her spot with the goats at the Second Coming.
What I find extremely distressing from the Yale types is that they do not find this behaviour in any way distressing. She can exhibit many dangerous tendencies and is celebrated instead of being institutionalized to see what type of help she needs. It is no wonder that the left keeps spiraling into the abyss. A truly sad affair.
In a way, this “work of art” and Yale’s attitude toward it attest to the consequences of the Godless church of the left. Real beauty consists in the unification of contrasts. Real art should express truth through beauty — the attempt to unify the material and the Divine.
So when you have no truth, you can have no beauty, and when you can have no beauty, well, you get menstrual blood, urine and miscellaneous other body waste as art. What next, human sacrifices as “performance art”?
I’m certainly not an art connoisseur, but I can tell you there is something qualitatively different between, say, Monet’s “Rouen Cathedral” sequence and the grotesque garbage that’s often passed off as “modern art”.
Can anybody believe this is enduring “culture” in the league of Michelangeo, Tallis, Shakespeare? Will it be looked upon admiringly in 100, 200 or 500 years? I somehow doubt it will endure even the next couple of weeks.
The particularly sad part is the tragic decline in a once-great university to which this entire incident so eloquently testifies. Our grandchildren won’t forgive us, but I hope they can learn from us.
Again, we are feeding the trolls. She wanted our attention, and we are providing it. Shame on us.
Once again it makes me proud to proclaim,” You’re right, I just don’t get it.”
ROFLMAO
I’m glad I didn’t have any drink in my mouth, when I read that!
As other have posted previously, either she lied in the beginning or she is lying now. But, she is the one insisting now that she used a needleless syringe to artificially inseminate herself.
I really don’t see what TheOtherSide wants to investigate, unless it is at which point(s) she actually lied.
Her last name is Schvarts? As in the racial epitaph used by blacks against Jews? Sometimes the jokes just write themselves!
Oh wait, I’m sorry, the term used by Jews against blacks.
I refuse to allow some liberal to dictate to me what is right or wrong or moral based on their belief system or lack thereof! It’s sort of like, “How to be the best pig in the pig pen.”
AlaskanGrizzly #50, slightly OT, I just sent an email to the president of the univ. in Maine re the flag desecration. I’m including it below.
“I watched with disgust the video of you and others mocking the veteran who attempted to protect OUR American flag. That’s right, it’s yours, too, whether you accept it or not. How could you allow the flag of your country to be desecrated in such a way? And the audacity of lecturing a man about free speech whose comrades bled and died to keep your speech free! You DO realize that were it not for the sacrifices of this man and all our military that you would NOT be able to do the very thing that you did? In any other country, you would have suffered severe consequences. I would expect that a University president would be able to grasp this elementary concept quite readily.
Breathtaking, and repulsive.”
