The MSM poor taste award of the week

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 18, 2008 08:16 AM

It’s the one war the Left and the media do want to win: The “war on global warming.”

And they’ll appropriate and trivialize any real war imagery they please in pursuit of eco-propaganda–good taste and respect for veterans be damned!

    Another Ice Age?

    Monday, Jun. 24, 1974

As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing
number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological
fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval.

Telltale signs are everywhere —from the unexpected persistence and thickness of pack ice in the waters around Iceland to the southward migration of a warmth-loving creature like the armadillo from the Midwest.Since the 1940s the mean global temperature has dropped about 2.7° F.

Man, too, may be somewhat responsible for the cooling trend. The University of Wisconsin’s Reid A. Bryson and other climatologists suggest that dust and other particles released into the atmosphere as a result of farming and fuel burning may be blocking more and more sunlight from reaching and heating the surface of the earth.

Whatever the cause of the cooling trend, its effects could be extremely serious, if not catastrophic.…………..

So I thought, you know what, if we really feel strongly about something let’s just say so. And we’ve done that a number of times since I’ve been back. We did the case for national service, a cover story last summer. The end of cowboy diplomacy where we said that foreign policy had to change.

Negative. It has to do with WHAT it is used for. The Iwo Jima photo has nothing to do with the global warming debate, and to call it a “war”?

Bush standing in front of a flag is patriotic. Obama standing in front of a flag is an affront to the flag.

Negative. If Bush refused to wear the pin, or refused to put his hand over his heart and say the Pledge, it would be newsworthy. If Obama really did stand in front of the flag, and really meant it, there’s no issue with that.

    Yikes. Let me explain this.

    1. WWII and Iwo Jima were wars. Against a great evil and threat to world peace.

The war on terror is also a war against evil (unless you think radical Islam is a peaceful, tolerant, loving religion).

Imagine if today’s Democrats were in charge during WWII. DEFEAT. SURRENDER. Iwo Jima wouldn’t have happened, most of Europe would be speaking German, and the entire history of the latter half of the 20th century would be totally different.

The difference with the Time cover is there still is a healthy amount of speculation regarding global warming wait, it’s global climate change now…since temperatures have cooled (Has anyone asked Gore if the Earth’s fever has broken?). It’s not a war, and it certainly isn’t as immediate a threat to us as, say, terrorists with planes or nuclear weapons and a deep hatred of pretty much everything you and I hold dear (read: FREEDOM).

    2. Bush has never denegrated the flag the way Obama has. What did Barack say about it? He wasn’t going to wear a pin because he was ashamed of America? There’s that photo of him not reciting the pledge, the absence of flags (early in his campaign). When – and only when – Obama realized his anti-flag (anti-American) senitment was not winning him favors, flags popped up like dandelions in spring.

    See the difference?

Also, I don’t hear any of Bush’s supporters spouting the line that “war has never solved anything” and “no war for any reason” and “no war was ever justified” – lines anti-war liberals have used and things they believe. Which means, if they’re honest and consistent, they think even WWII was an unjustified war and the soldiers that served were murderers, butchers, baby-killers (pick your euphemism).

I understand you think conservatives are unintelligent rubes, but we are able to discern the connotation behind the use of an image appropriately and inappropriately.

Just because it doesn’t happen to fit your worldview doesn’t make it wrong.

Because it isn’t a threat. Just because you and Al Gore stick your fingers in your ears and sing “La, la, la I can’t hear you!” whenever scientists or meteorologists question global warming doesn’t mean there isn’t dissent. Which I thought was “patriotic”…guess not, if it dissents against liberal causes, or their religion (global warming sorry, global cimate change).

You global warming zealots have to get one thing straight:

The argument is not about “Global Warming”.

Its about ANTHROPOGENIC Global Warming. In other words, human-caused global warming.

You make an egregious error in logic, conflating two separate issues.

The only question that matters is “Are humans causing global warming”. Because if we are not then it doesn’t matter what we do, and efforts to the contrary are wasted.

Unfortunately for the enviros, hard scientific evidence for humans causing “global warming” is inconclusive, at best.

And THAT is where you LOSE your argument.

IF Global Warming Exists and is not significantly influenced or caused by Man, then nothing we can do will significantly influence things. All the “Green” crap is jsut that: crap.

To make the case for this sort of thing, you must

    a) Conclusively Prove Global Warming Exists (still doubt about that given recent climatological data, and science regarding solar activity),

    AND

    b) PROVE conclusively that Global Warming is caused by Humans (very little proof of that).

And remember – Consensus is NOT Proof. Consensus amongst theologians is that God Exists. Yet that is not accepted ass proof. Neither is “consensus” amongst scientists, many of whom are NOT climatologists.

And furthermore, the so-called consensus is falling apart, and may no longer exist amongst real scientists, including the man who founded the theory of GW now saying it was wrong.

Recent evidence indicates that SOLAR cycles are the primary controlling variable in climate change, so even if Global Warming exists, it is NOT caused by Humans. So you LOSE!

There is NOTHING we can do to increase or lessen the impact of whatever climate changes the solar activity is driving, be it a new “little ice age” (like 1300-1700AD) or a new “middle ages warm period”. (800-1200AD)

So GIVE IT UP Enviros – your hoax has been revealed to be the lie that it is, and a collectivist power play against individualism and capitalism – and freedom.

    STOP your lying.

But heaven forbid Jeremiah Wright should say something similar! (By the way, you should watch the whole tape, not just the 5 second clip, to see what Wright actually was saying.)

It’s not surprising that the liberals get bitter, they cling to trees or hybrids or antipathy to people who aren’t born or anti-Christian sentiment or anti-American sentiment. . .

Then we had Chamberlain telling us our enemies were not a threat. Now we have the “see nothing but evil” right telling us global warming is not a threat.

This from someone who has absolutely no idea of what war really is.

Until lgm presents us with his verified DD-214, and proof that he’s served in the military(makes no difference what branch) and done time in Iraq or Afghanistan, his comments on war are absolutely without foundation. They are based on the peanut farmer’s Moral Equivalent Of War(one of my all-time favorite acronyms, which sums it up in a nutshell, MEOW) campaign.

It is well that war is so terrible – otherwise we would grow too fond of it. Robert E. Lee (1807 – 1870), Statement at the Battle of Fredericksburg (13th December 1862)

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. John Stuart Mill (1806 – 1873)

As far as I’m concerned, lgm is one of the ugly things – the person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight. The ecology will take care of itself, thank you. It doesn’t need man’s puny intervention. The Goracle will be shown to be one of the world’s greatest con men, trying to prove that it’s possible to “fool all of the people all of the time.”

There is a Creator, and He designed the world to exist in spite of our best efforts to harm it.

Research from Nils-Axel Mörner, professor of paleogeophysics and geodynamics at Stockholm University, demonstrates that current sea levels are within the range of sea level oscillation over the past 300 years, while the satellite data show virtually no rise over the past decade.

What is even more ironic (sickening?) about Cronkite is that he was a war correspondent who actually flew along with B17 bomber crews over Europe. He was as likely to be shot down and killed or captured as the airmen themselves. Since he was a reporter and not a true serviceman that would have made him a spy by Nazi standards, and as such subject to immediate execution without trial. So you’d think he would have a better appreciation of our servicepersons than any of the current limp-wristed “war correspondants” who populate cable news (Gerry comes to mind) and report from 4-star hotels in Iraq. Sadly, since the Vietnam War he has demonstrated nothing but contempt for the American Military.

Where I grew up in rural Kansas, my family could only receive CBS on the old B&W TV, so the CBS Evening News was the primary source of news for us. I often thought that if Walt told us the sky was green, we’d believe it. Not any more. I now see him as a bitter old man, who long ago traded his respectabilty for leftwing moonbattery.

This, of course, means that many people are now out of work.

Of course, the Left will see this as a consumer travesty akin to the rising price of gasoline. Before you know it, we’ll be seeing Congressional Committee investigations. Dirty Harry will be hauling Bo Pilgrim himself (assuming he’s still around) in front of a committee where Bo will be savagely interrogated before the cameras. There will be cries of outrage, and demands for windfall profit taxes on the food producers of the country.

    Jan 4th 2005:
    CONCLUSION

What I have outlined today won’t appear in the New York Times. Instead you’ll read much about “consensus” and Kyoto and hand wringing by its editorial writers that unrestricted carbon dioxide emissions from the United States are harming the planet. You’ll read nothing, of course, about how Kyoto-like policies harm Americans, especially the poor and minorities, causing higher energy prices, reduced economic growth, and fewer jobs. After all, that is the real purpose behind Kyoto, as Margot Wallstrom, the EU’s environment minister, said in a revealing moment of candor. To her, Kyoto is about “leveling the playing field” for businesses worldwide-in other words, we can’t compete, so let’s use a feel-good treaty, based on shoddy science, fear, and alarmism, and which will have no perceptible impact on the environment (Chart #6), to restrict America’s economic growth and prosperity. Unfortunately for Ms. Wallstrom and Kyoto’s staunchest advocates, America was wise to the scheme, and it has rejected Kyoto and similar policies convincingly. Whatever Kyoto is about-to some, such as French President Jacques Chirac, it’s about forming “an authentic global governance”-it’s the wrong policy and it won’t work, as many participants in Buenos Aires grudgingly conceded.

Despite the bias, omissions, and distortions by the media and extremist groups, the real story about global warming is being told, and, judging by the welcome success of Michael Crichton’s “State of Fear,” it’s now being told to the American public.
