Hard numbers: Illegal alien drunk drivers in North Carolina
WRAL reports on a new statistical breakdown of illegal alien drunk drivers in North Carolina. It’s a blood-pressure-raising look at the deadly revolving door, catch-and-release, the deportation abyss, and the danger of sanctuary policies embraced by those sworn to defend and protect the public:
Seven-year-old Marcus Lassiter won’t see his eighth birthday. George Smith was on his morning commute to Duke University but never made it to work. Betty Coates might struggle with daily tasks for the rest of her life.
Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell sees a pattern among the cases of these victims of drunken driving: Each accused driver was in the United States illegally.
Bizzell pointed to Hipolito Hernandez, an illegal immigrant who faces second-degree murder charges in the hit-and-run that killed Marcus last Sunday.
“This case here is a prime example of the justice system letting the people down,” Bizzell said.
Nearly 300 illegal immigrants were convicted on driving-while-impaired charges and placed in North Carolina prisons in 2007.
Hispanics also account for 18 percent of drunken-driving arrests, while making up less than 7 percent of the state’s population, according to a study from the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center aired in WRAL’s documentary “Focal Point: Crossing the Line.”
The study also showed that Hispanics involved in car crashes were 2.5 times more likely to be drunk than white drivers and three times more likely to be drunk than black drivers.
In the three cases listed above, each of the accused drunken drivers had extensive contact with the judicial system – but had managed to elude the immigration system until these incidents.
Johnston County is lucky to have a law enforcement leader who refuses to capitulate to open-borders hectoring and propaganda. He gets it:
Latino advocacy groups often urge the public to step back from the emotion over immigration and focus on the individual crimes.
Advocates admit that drunk driving is a problem within the Hispanic community and have aired public-service ads to combat the problem.
Drunk driving is also the No. 1 killer of young Hispanic men, according to the UNC study.
Bizzell said the tragedy is that deaths such as Marcus’ and debilitating injuries such as Coates’ are preventable.
“This isn’t about race. This isn’t about Mexico versus the United States,” Bizzell said. “It’s about a drunk Mexican that’s illegal, driving drunk, no operator’s license, stolen vehicle, killing a little 7-year-old boy.”

Drunk drivers….PERIOD…are a problem whether they’re legal or illegal citizens.
What’s next? Are we going to get the standard government racial options? Nose counting by skin color and ethnicity is so big brotherish…
Damn this insanity! This guy was in court more times in a year than I have speeding tickets in 30 years of driving!
I thought when these parasites are deported, the next thime they are caught it is a felony? Where the hell is the federal data base to track this crap?
If the mighty powers in charge can take innocent kids away from families based on a krank call on a church, and force DNA testing, why aren’t we taking DNA from everyone of these parasites that the Pope wants us to welcome?
When will we ever learn? Scratch that, most of us understand it, it’s the advocates and pro-illegal politicians that don’t get it and are willing to sacrifice the lives of innocent civilians in order to curry favor with the “potential” new voters.
Just out of curiosity, I’d be interested in looking at some stats on the felonious crimes commited by illegals compared to casuality rates of our troops in Iraq. For all the “we support the troops” blarney expelled by the liberals, where’s the “we support the citizen” rhetoric?
Amen to that! Yet Pope Benedict, who has acted like a complete jerk while in our country, would no doubt condemn this statement. . . To him, who lives in la-la land politically, we need to treat these barbarians entering our country and who have no respect for our laws or our country with respect and legalize them.
Has the Pope left our country yet? If so, good riddance! To come here and lecture us about our immigration policy, to tell the U.N. that he laments the loss of the Soviet Union (by crying about the need for “multilateralism”), and then to support communism in Cuba the way he does. . .there is NO defense of this guy.
By the way, I’m a conservative Catholic with complete loyalty on religious matters, but not political.
If immigrants (legal or illegal) from Mexico and South America voted Republican, Obama and Hillary would be on the border posing with their dead bodies to show their constituents how tough they are on immigration.
The problem isn’t immigration laws or enforcement; it’s politics. Produce some data (real or fake – doesn’t matter) to convince the Dems that these folks are closet Republicans and this debate will be over before you can say “bitter Pennsylvanian.”
P.C. still holds a pretty tight leash in areas of our country. Sheriff Bizell seems to have the courage to say thats enough! The correct crowd may have met their match him.
No, at the moment he’s saying Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
I came here, to Michelle’s, to see if she was blogging the event. Instead, there’s hate and contempt.
A very minor hobby of mine is to read police blotter columns and court appearance columns in local newspapers online. The reason I do this is because invariably, an extreme majority of the cases involve people with Spanish sounding first and last names charged with crimes such as DUI and driving without proper car insurance, registration, or without a license.
Granted this does not necessarily mean that illegal aliens with Spanish sounding names are responsible for all of these misdemeanors, it just shows that this is an area that needs further review. It is my theory that a significant percentage of illegal aliens come to this country and drive when they have no insurance, license and too often drive under the influence. This is a hidden cost of illegal immigration.
If I am shown to be wrong then I will be the first to apologize and admit that I was being racially insensitive. But I think this issue needs to first be honestly examined.
sorry “match with him” Thats better.
Sorry, the only one showing “hate and contempt” has been Pope Benedict in our country.
Contempt? Did you watch the mass at Nationals’ Stadium? The first reading was in Spanish. Can you imagine when he went to Brazil if the first reading had been in English?
Contempt? Coming here and lecturing us about illegals?
Hate? Telling the U.N. that he misses the Soviet Union, i.e. lamenting the loss of “multilateralism?”
How about his supporting the Communists in Cuba, while lecturing us–the most generous nation on earth–about human rights for our wanting a sane immigration policy?
As Catholics, we have to be loyal to the Magisterium in matters of faith and morals. . .but certainly not in political issues, especially when the Pope and Cardinals are as clueless as these ones are.
Right!! Now let’s change that.
And where is MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving)?
I rest my case.
This is the #1 subject to drive me insane!
For the record, IF a drunk illegal were to injure (or worse), a member of my family, I GUARANTEE he/she will NEVER make it to the police station, let alone court!
We the people elect these idiots to represent us. They all need to go, for sure the open borders crowd.
I know this is technically off topic, but I think the Mass at Nationals Park in Washington, DC, was a great event, except for the first reading in Spanish: we are in the United States. The use of non-English elsewhere was very appropriate. (I have not heard what the pope said in New York, so I can’t comment on that.)
Back on topic, governments need first to enforce the laws on the books, starting with employers and when the illegal aliens come into contact with law enforcement, and then they can look at adjusting the legal methods in line with US needs. At all times, of course, enforce the borders.
I just don’t get what’s so hard about building that fence.
Really? I thought the music–the salsa, meringue–and the lesbian-like second reader dressed in what looked like a suit (evidently to protest the lack of women priests), the giving out of communion to pro-abortion politicians, the cheering and lack of dress by the people attending were pretty crass and embarrassing. The music was horrible in the mass.
I go often to the National Shrine. If they could have done a mass like ones there, it would have been dignified and appropriate.
Thanks for the Saturday morning jaw grinder Michelle. As much as stories like this make my blood pressure go up it appears some of our law enforcement officials have had enough of the slaughter of Americans by the drunk illegal invader drivers and are gathering the statistical data we can throw in the face of our political overlords the next time they think they can smoke another Shamnesty Bill by us. Like dreid I scan the blotter on-line from our local rag and we have a more than proportionate share of Spanish sire names breaking all kinds of laws not that we don’t have enough white trash in our little military town either. The tipping point is coming and these illegal invaders will finally go to damn far and they and their supporters will find out what it is really like when you awaken the sleeping giant of America and it ain’t going to be pretty folks.
There is only one reason to go to Mass, to hear the Gospel of Our Lord. There are many distractions during a Mass, I’ve learned to focus on the Gospel.
I have never heard politics in any church I have been in, to include catholic mass. I guess that’s what makes Barrack’s Rev so disgusting.
How much more does the US government need to do something about this? How many more people must die? I bet these open border politicians like McCain and Bush will do something if this issue affected them personally, instead of being so far removed in their elitist world.
A bunch of submorons cranked up on Machismo and alcohol. And it’s illegal for cops to profile…
I don’t know if I’m moving further to the right or if the majority of people, including the Pope, are moving to the left and politicizing everything.
All I know is that I’m tired of being told how wrong I am for believing that we should be a soveriegn country.
There is nothing hard about building the fence. But itt costs money to do it. However, the open-borders law makers hold the purse strings.
And, say we do finally get the fence up, then we will have to ride the fences daily to make sure that in the morning they are still intact. Because for sure someone will have breached or damaged it during the night trying to get in. Apparently there has not been any money set aside for that. So the fence will quickly become a useless eyesore.
I say we give the Marines the mission to set up a perimeter at the borders. Give them bullets and technology and I guarantee the borders will be secure.
And just so the idiot trolls don’t misread this. The technology is for all the innocent little boys and girls who break the law looking “for a better life” and the bullets are for the drug running pieces of feces that just need to be ventillated.
Zorro
“… I came here, to Michelle’s, to see if she was blogging the event. Instead, there’s hate and contempt. …”
You and your bleeding heart Geraldo Rivera types make me so mad I could spit.
There is no hate here. Only salient points of fact. The contempt is directed at all persons involved; those that perpetrated these crimes and those that did not take appropriate law enforcement actions such as deportation.
Yes, the basic factor is that these persons were driving drunk. Many had repeated this crime multiple times. Their being here ILLEGALLY is a compounding factor that SHOULD not be ignored or over looked. Both are crimes.
Can we treat Mexican Illegals the same way Mexico treats its Illegal Aliens. Can we treat Mexican Illegal Alien Criminals the same way Mexico treats Americans accused of crimes in Mexico?
Should we also look the other way and have unrestricted enthusiasm for other Illegals such as MS13? The Illegal Alien movement and its supporters make me think in terms of a Mexican Jihad against the U.S.A.
Speaking of quote-unquote racial bias isn’t the term La Raza itself racially motivated?
Exactly Rooster. As a Maronite Catholic, parts of our Mass are still recited in Aramaic, the language of Christ. No politics, very little fund raising, just Bible readings and the Gospel.
Illegal immigrant crime is preventable. Build the fence, deport ALL those who have had ANY contact with our justice system. Deny citizenship and social benefits to all who crossed our borders illegally.
JohnFLob, you are an idiot for trying to compare me with Geraldooo.
Here in Houston, come 5 o’clock go to any convenience store and you will see a truckload of Hispanics getting a couple 16 ouncers and their little paper bags for the ride home.
JohnFLob, my comment was about hate and contempt directed at the Pope. My stand on ILLEGAL immigration hasn’t changed for 30 years. And if you were a regular reader here, you would know that.
zorro at 9:37 AM
It rather looks like you are here to stir things up.
Just as there are distractions during a Mass, there are distractions on a blog. Bring some of that serene focus here.
As someone who lives a few miles from Johnston County I was infuriated by this story.
I’d like to point out that in this most recent case, the driver’s “extensive history” with the judicial system (which somehow did not lead to deportation) includes 3 prior arrests for DUI!
I am so angry my blood is boiling. The Johnston county sheriff may “get it” but clearly our legal system in this part of North Carolina does not. This death was not only preventable, but at the failure to convict and/or deport it also became inevitable!
As for the Pope, wouldn’t you want to capitalize on people who constantly see Jesus on a taco shell and marvel at a platic effigy of the Virgin Mary crying salad oil? I know P.T. Barnum would!
Zorro, you are way out of line with the topic! I am a Catholic too and I have no patience with the political direction of the church if it advocates open borders and santuary for every illegal that crosses the border. We are not bound as Catholics to take care of every country’s illegal and law-breaking masses! Charity is one thing but this is something else entirely.
Damn, I guess I’m just bitter.
Being on the subject of the Pope, last time I read the Bible, Jesus called the Jewish leaders hypocrites, for one, because they insisted on being called FATHER and revered. I find it unbiblical that the Eastern Orthodox religion and the Catholic religion both have priests who are being called FATHER, revered, have their hands kissed, etc. I used to belong to that group until I started to actually read the Bible instead of just going to mass to listen to the priest tell me what I need to know. That is why the Pope wants 3d world illegals here, people are leaving the church and they need people to replace them, many of whom probably have not opened a Bible in a long time and may not even know how to read. Also, who made the Pope or the Catholic Church God to decide which sins are deadly? The Bible specifically says that ALL sins are deadly in the sight of God, because God is Holy. That is why we need Christ, because no one can come to God by just doing good deeds more than bad. All people need is to read the Word of God, the Bible, they don’t need a Pope to tell them what is right and wrong, especially when he is a mere man, a fallable one, a flawed one, influenced by politics, etc., as all men are. like the CAtholic Church in many respects, it does a lot of good, but it has some flawed agendas and views that are anti-Biblical.
Fluffy, JonR, you are correct.
#32, that just made my day, so true. I heard a latina, a real immigrant, call a talk show once and said she does not like the way her compatriots look at God, as a genie in a bottle, to be here to grant their wishes, and in a very supersticious way.
Law enforcement agencies around the country can now fill out their arrest forms with one term after they fill in the arrestee’s personal info:
IBID!! Previous form.
“Hispanics also account for 18 percent of drunken-driving arrests, while making up less than 7 percent of the state’s population, according to a study from the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center”…
just drinking the booze that Americans won’t.
If this weren’t such a huge voting bloc… neither side would be so silent and that fence would have been built long ago.
Each one of these elected “officials” have taken a oath of office to protect and defend our country. Part of those are enforcing the laws, protecting it’s citizens and securing our borders.
When the slightest issue committed by a Representetive is brought to light they want to HANG-EM-HIGH in the court of public opinion. Well all of these Congressmen should be held accountable. They have taken a legal promise (contract if you will) and should be IMPEACHED for failure to “Execute the Office of Senator & Rep.
I’m not a Clinton fan by no means but if our country had to be put through the Clinton Era for what he did then shouldn’t this issue be even taken more seriously? When will we put our foot down and say to those Boys enough is enough,,,, YOU WORK FOR US THE PEOPLE. WE DON’T WORK FOR YOU!!!!!
Americans, for whatever reason, tend to shy away from activities that carry jail terms.
Oh yeah, that’ll solve the problem alright! Why is the left fixated on psa ads as a vehicle for denial and avoidance? Regardless of the problem, its severity or complexity, they always seem to resort to throwing some ineffectual psa at it, and completely avoid addressing the problem’s real cause or source which, in this situation, is illegal immigration.
Perfect observation! Hope the guys and gals in D.C. eventually arrive at this conclusion. And they may…sometime between now and never.
There is no excuse for the lack of immigration enforcement. The unfortunate fact is that the federal government has been negligent in their duties and it is now left to the local law enforcement agencies to do that job. Those of you in Johnstone County and similar counties need to attend the county commision meetings and see what they spend your tax dollars on. It usually is not law enforcement.
I spent 8 years working as a police officer in Kansas and attended the meetings. Law Enforcement is usually last on the agenda. Most Sherrifs and Chiefs of Police need support. I am asking all to support their local law enforcement and help to solve the problem.
If you see a Mexican with a bottle of Absolut Vodka chances are he/she is illegal.
Wow! If someone is here illegally and kills someone while driving drunk, they should definately be deported!
Fly them back to their home country and drop them off at 10,000 feet over their president’s house with no parachute, that is.
I wonder if Absolut will take any responsibility for some of these deaths at the hands of illegals.
Back on topic. We in the border states, AZ,CA,NM, and TX have been waging this battle for years. Than if the law catches the ILLEGAL, you will find no insurance. Than the court gives bail, and back across the border they go. Maybe North Carolina could do a study like they did here in AZ. They found that IMMIGRANTS did not commit crimes at any greater percentage than citizens. However, they didn’t split them up between LEGAL and ILLEGAL. OHHHH WELLLL, no difference HUH???
ZORRO, Dang.
Bring the pope to a border fight and WATCH OUT, ya get called geraldo.
I got yer 6 tho.
whooops forgot.
This is probably accurate nationwide. The numbers appear to prove it out when you can find them. ( too many states hide illegal immigrant numbers)
Sweden is historically part of the vodka belt, with high consumption of distilled beverages and binge drinking, but usually has zero tolerance for drunkenness at work and in traffic.
Drinking during lunchtime in workdays and drunk driving is condemned by society. Politicians and other public officials sentenced for driving while intoxicated are usually expected to resign.
Our politicians get 28 days at Betty Ford and then business as usual.
Illegals taking their cues from our political demagogues? Nah…
The message is quite simple really…
“The USA welcomes legal immigration”
Come, obey our laws and live the life you dream to.
And this message should be quite clear as well.
Expect the USA to enforce all laws regarding illegal immigration.
I’ve said before “if they put as much effort coming legally as they do illegally it would be better for everyone.”
No matter who says it, this is what should be clear.
I seriously doubt the open border politicians care about the loss of life and injuries inflicted upon the citizens of this country by illegals. In my own way I try to make a statement when I write to my senators and rep. I close my correspondence with “you may be a citizen of the USA, but your no American”. They are of course selfish, elitist open border liars.
Another example of a government no longer for the people or by the people but rather for what….. money. I live in front of a school and on weekends the playground is full of illegals drinking and doing drugs but the authorities here in South Georgia will do nothing about it because it might make one of the famers who are getting all this govt. money to not give to reelection campaigns. They even have their own health clinic that gets state funding but refuses to treat anyone who is not illegal. I just wish someone would come down here and see how really bad it is and how deep the corruption goes, but I also want another president like Ronald Reagan and that does not look promising.
Thanks Shooter! Yeah, that one surprised me.
Having always thought that I would never agree with
anything to do with the French, I had to revise my
thinking yesterday. I came across an article about a
song to be honored that was half in French and half in
English. The French are up in arms saying that their
language is most important to their country and to the
character and industry of their country and if this song
wins, it will be a blow to their country. I feel the same
way about English in our country and for once, and
once only, I agree with the French. Instead of
Yankee go home! it should be, if you don’t want to
speak English and especially if you are illegal and
won’t learn English, go home and if you are someone who believes that EVERYONE should come
here whether legal or not and live as they did in the
“old country”, you can go home with them! (There
should have been several periods in that sentence….rant over)
The main element of the drunk-driving problem is a lot simpler, and a whole lot more problematic.
The illegals do not believe that they have any obligation to follow “gringo” (foreigner) law.
Gringo law does not stop them from crossing the border.
Gringo law doesn’t stop them from driving drunk.
Gringo law doesn’t stop them from participating in violent street gangs.
Gringo law doesn’t stop them from taking anything they want as long as the rightful owner doesn’t stop them (violently).
They don’t have any belief that they have to allow Gringo law any precedence that is not likely to be immediately enforced at the point of a gun.
And they don’t recognize that here …
…they are the gringos.
As a gun toting, Catholic Church-attending citizen I will throw my support behind the concept that Fred Thompson espoused in one of the Republican debates – that of high fences with wide gates. Let the legals in, let them prosper. Keep the illegals out and deport those that are caught at any point in the system.
I do not support the Catholic Church’s sanctuary policy. I would prefer the Church have a policy where they lend support to families that are disrupted when a law-breaking member is caught and deported.
Why not, jhn 1? When you’ve broken the Biggie and
no one has caught and deported you ( or re deported)
why should you obey any of the other laws?
Everyone knows about the crime problems associated with illegal aliens in southern California and the lack of will of Californian liberals to do anything about it. But this cancer is spreading to the north and east. This story from North Carolina is an example. Need another? I invite you to check out the Canyon County jail website in Idaho, which lists current prisoners along with their photographs and a summary of their crimes. Currently there are 647 inmates. A scan through the list indicates that nearly half of them are hispanics charged with dui, drug possession or sale, and a variety of other serious crimes. Many of them are tagged for transfer to immigration because of their undocumented status. I am a displaced Idahoan who planned to return to that state after retirement. The way things are going (Canyon County’s problem is not unique in Idaho), there will be nothing to return to. I am shocked and dismayed that this could happen to my Idaho.
Exactly why if you let a person break one law, they will not respect any others.
Where are the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers?
MAD!? Are they, or have they too been PC’d?
This can’t be! According to Juan Hernandez, illegal aliens enrich our culture.
I blame liberals and RINOs for this problem. Mostly, I blame the people who continue to re-elect the scum-bag politicians who continually sell-out this country for some cheap labor and campaign contributions.
I’m surprised that we haven’t heard a liberal blame the parents of the 7 year old for his death.
Michelle, do you really think that clowns like “Gabe” belong on your site? Did “Reverend Phelps” decline an invitation to guest-blog?
Being from North Carolina originally and still having family there…I hate to say it, but the NC politicians brought this problem to the good people of that state. Not even 5 years ago if you checked the NCDMV website, it listed the conditions of obtaining a Drivers License. Included were Mexican DL’s and Matricula Conselar cards. NC had set itself up as a magnet for cheap labor and wanted to ride high on the economic benefits…ignoring that short term economy benefits are wiped out when the health care and public assistance bills start pouring in.
My mother called me to comment on how insane California was to try to grant DL’s to illegals (as of yet that still has not happened, but I expect it soon). I told her NC had been doing it for some time. She did not believe me and I told her to check the DMV website. She was infuriated and contacted her representatives. She told me that they told her that providing DL’s to all peoples in NC was necessary to ensure safety on their highways. Talk about poetic justice. Since then, NC requires a valid SS number and a US birth certificate to get a license, but the damage has already been done.
Mexico is still like the US was in the 70’s. Driving drunk is not a big deal and these people do not understand why we get so bent out of shape over this.
Michelle,
I was just reading this, 20 shot in Chicago in 12 hours, I recognize one of the surnames Savala, that is Spanish castillian used also in Mexico.
Is there a gang war going on in Chicago?
If there is a gang war going on btw who?
http://www.nbc5.com/news/15931631/detail.html?rss=chi&psp=news
#42, AMEN!!!! I don’t know when DC decided that we
are all worker ants and they are the queens ( well, some more than others) to be supported by us without
doing anything for us.
As a Catholic, I take great exception to the church
thumbing it’s nose at the law. That is not what Jesus
taught. Jesus said to render unto caesar…..
atxcowgirl, I used to drive home on I 20 in Ft Worth and you could see them in their “chebbies” with their
brown bags and bottles and worst of all, I drove a
convertible and had to listen to “Heeeey Cheeekie,
Cheekie,” among other things the entire time I would be stuck alongside a vehicle with the population of a small town packed into it. Sometimes the smell of alcohol would overcome the gasoline fumes. I always regretted driving with
my top down but sometimes the day would be so
great, that I would forget and you cannot put it back up when you are driving.
Geraldo and meatpie…# 1 & #2 would like potential victims of illegal emigrants to concentrate on the cause such as drunk driver period, mas-murder period, multiple vehicular deaths period, child rape period, identity theft period, etc. etc. period. When in fact, were these death machines not in America many, many citizen would still be alive, period. The various causes would not be important if the sources were eliminated (deported or dropped off on the lawn of the White House).
Sigh. I don’t want to pile on here. What you said is true, but I just got finished reading the “Missile for the Apostolic Journey,” which contains the liturgy for all the Masses the Pope has or will say here.
Every Mass but the first at the National Cathedral (which only has one reading) contains a reading in Spanish — and no translation is furnished. So, if one does not speak Spanish, you will miss one portion of the Gospel at each Mass. What is also odd is that the multi-lingual petitions of the faithful — in six languages — at the Washington Nationals Mass were translated. I listened to that Mass until it began to sound — between those prayers and the music — like the biblical Tower of Babel.
I think there are quite enough multi-cultural warriors ripping apart the fabric of this country’s cohesiveness without the Catholic Church contributing to the celebration of divisiveness. I think of it as the “E Pluribus” without the “Unum.”
Even the EWTN announcers (normally cheerleaders for Catholicism) were quite put off by the extreme multicultural aspects of that Mass.
The marine caught in Mexico and suspected of killing the pregnant marine was picked up by the Mexican police “because he was suspicious looking”! OMG! In our little county where I live, all the crimes committed by the illegal invaders are swept under the rug. Dare the cops pick up a man because he is suspicious looking! People in the community are just finally getting the idea, now that the economy is sour, that illegals ARE taking jobs that we are willing to do after all…I told my dad last year that when the economy goes bad, your gonna see people p****d off when they lose a job or hours and Illegals are still working. it’s gonna get ugly.
Laree,
That story can’t be true. Illinois has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country.
Said tongue-in-cheek, I presume?
Remember how many languages our Pope John Paul
spoke? I do believe this one is evincing a bit of language envy. Otherwise there is no reason for all of
these translations.
My Spanish is no longer perfect because I have refused to speak it for over 10 years, ever since the
politicians have been seriously trying to cram it down
our throats, but I can still understand it. It’s easy to
pick out Hispanics that do not speak Spanish at all or very little because they sound like their white
counterparts in the part of the country they were
raised in. Our neighbor just kicked his mother in law out to go live with her other daughter because,
though he is Hispanic, you can’t tell by listening to him and that’s what he wants for his children. No
Spanish at home and she wouldn’t comply. I don’t
blame him because I do believe it is going to come
down to people hearing Spanish being spoken or
someone that obviously cannot speak English well or has a strong accent and all h@#l will break loose. I do think that eventually we will see vigilante groups trying to handle this problem if the
politicians and law enforcement do not.
Milwalkee Mike #47-
I like your sentence for “Illegals driving drunk and killing someone”.
Hey have you all heard this one about Politicians I think it is current to the subject After all Politicians won’t stop playing politics with our security.
An appropriate joke.: Four surgeons were comparing the easiest patients
to work on. One said it was accountants: “All their parts are numbered.”
One said electricians: “All their parts are color-coded.” One said
librarians: “All their parts are in alphabetical order.” The fourth
surgeon said, “You’re all wrong – it’s politicians. They have no guts,
no heart, no spine, and the head and the butt are interchangeable.”
Nichevo,
Everyone knows that making something illegal makes the problem associated with it go away.
“Guns cause crime! Let’s make them illegal!”
“Cigarettes cause cancer! Let’s make them illegal in public!”
“Trans fat causes heart disease! Let’s ban it in restaurants!”
“SUVs cause global warming! Let’s ban them!”
“Illegal immigrants cause a strain on Social Security, create violent gangs, and have no respect for our laws! Let’s make them not illegal anymore!”
Love it Laree.
I have two interesting things from Instapundit about
gun owners.

These are really good. Very positive toward gun owners. I don’t own a gun. My husband
does, but I don’t want to see it because we lost a son who had survived military service,
to a senseless gun death. However, since the unlawful will always own guns in this
country, I think it only fair that the lawful may own guns for their own protection.
The reason MADD isn’t involved is probably because their agenda now has changed. They are more interested in left wing political power than stopping drunks on the highway. This is why the founder of MADD left in disgust. Same reason for other once worthwhile organizations like Sierra Club. On MADD’s agenda are things like having your kids removed for child abuse if you drink a glass of wine (say, at a restaurant) and have them in the car going home. Around here in Fairfax county, Spanish is the main language unfortunately, that or Korean. At least the Koreans speak English well. Hispanics could care less. Trying to buy something is a trying experience here. The illegal situation will only get worse, as long as politicians see power and votes in supporting them. Defending the Constitution and country isn’t as important, especially when they go public with their illegal support and get voted right back into office. Until people rise up and say, “enough”, expect things to go on, per usual, with the illegals supporters getting more arrogant with time.
OOPS! second one isn’t connecting but you can get to it through Instapundit
so I will look for that and post it.
Here is the link for Guns and God? Hell, yes

Somewhere — forgot exactly where — they set up DUI checkpoints on Cinco de Mayo. The uproar over discrimination and profiling was so overwhelming that it was immediately discontinued.
Graysonret..thought I heard or maybe son (Prince
William County ) told me that Fairfax was a sanctuary area.
If so, my sincere condolences. That can be so frustrating.
You obey the law and when you see someone else
openly flaunting their disobedience of the law can make you grind your teeth down to stubs.
I guess, like identity theft in Tx which didn’t have a law with any teeth until a politician had hers stolen,
a politician will have to have his/her family wiped out by an illegal drunk driver for anything to be done.
If only they could get licenses… Then we could take them away when they get caught… That’ll solve the problem..
Go over to A J Strata’s site and read him tear into Michelle. The guy does some real good stuff, but on immigration, he’s a bomb throwing jackass.
Yes tomlw, that’ll solve the problem. What does the lw stand for again tom – law?
Just kidding.
Solution to illegal alien problem= Joe Arpieo, nuff said. Is that how you spell Joes last name?
I know Bizzell. He is a staunch advocate for removing illegals.
It’s the liberal judges who do nothing and the government.
We have at least one person killed weekly in this small area…..Johnston County…….and it is getting worse.
TXRose, that’s okay.
On the 30th, we are waving “goodbye” to Fairfax County. Heading south for, hopefully, a more English-speaking area (Portsmouth).
If anyone here likes Nascar, I have an interesting comment from Kenny Wallace. During qualifying for the Mexico City Nationwide race, he stated, during an interview, that he wanted to have “U.S. Border Patrol” put on his car, but felt “it wouldn’t be received well” there. I suppose not; causing controversy and having Nascar invite him to the “oval office”. But it would have been great.
GABE WROTE
Looking at your post, I’d say not so much. And how does the Pope support communism?
Bingo!
nuss it is not just Canyon Country we are seeing it in Elmore Country (where we live) and Ada Country too. One of the guys I work with at Mountain Home AFB commutes from Kuna every day and is considering selling out because the illegals and gangs are starting to overrun his neighborhood.
Caldwell and Nampa are really having problems due to a lot of gang bangers from Southern California coming up here to lie low until the heat wears off the problem is they still bring their gangster attitude and problems with them. Of course the worthless lying crapweasels in the State Legislature just killed two separate bills in committee in both houses to enact Arizona style employment verification laws. Last week someone dropped a dime on a Homedale Pallet Building Company and 12 illegal invaders were rounded up and some have actually been deported while the remaining are being charged with identity theft and are on an ICE hold.
Idaho is having trouble, but the average citizen is getting mighty fed up with our unwelcome guests with many people I know talking about starting a grass roots uprising to start doing something since our political class and law enforcement agencies won’t because they are in the pockets of the farmers, ranchers, and other businesses screwing the average Idaho resident out of a job or decent paycheck. One reason I have seen bumper stickers on one then more vehicle “Idaho the slave wage state.”
I posted this on another thread about illegals, but I
will repost…..
Our son and daughter in law get regular care packages from us from Hot Damn Tamales. He is a
tamale nut and one of his friend’s abuela (grandmother) makes great tamales at Christmas and
he thinks these are better.

If you are indeed against illegal aliens and want law enforcement at all levels to deport them and keep them out then I apologize.
In the context of this thread being about illegal alien drunk drivers I may have misinterpreted your comments as espousing sympathy them. Geraldo is infamous for trying to white wash an illegal’s status when he is involved in a criminal act.
Sorry so long, please read whole thing.
There is a big problem with this miss-leading article, “Illegal Aliens Charged in DWI Cases Test the Judicial System”, dated April 18, 2008 (wral.com)
This article is miss-matching information to get its point across.
But then it goes on to say
Question: Are all 300 illegal immigrants Hispanic?
Question 2: are all Hispanics illegal aliens?
I know I’m not, so theirs one for you.
Furthermore
Again, how many of these Hispanics were illegal immigrants?
The article fails to separate illegal Hispanics from Hispanics who are American citizens.
Question: Is it the Number one killer for illegal aliens?
The Most important statistic not shown or most important Questions: Who in the hell are these illegal immigrants working for? Why aren’t law-breaking employers (who hire these illegal aliens) not charged or thrown in jail along with their illegal employees?
Everybody is ready to take Wal-Mart to civil court over one of its drivers, what about law-breaking employers who hire these drunk-drivers?
This article from wral.com needs to get its facts straight about how the statistical information is provided. Every time somebody miss-matches illegal alien statistics with Hispanic statistics they’re giving people like Juan Hernandez, and Geraldo Rivera ammunition on the grounds that this is about race.
From the article:
The way the statistics are stated in the article, it makes the very issue about race.
To fix this freaking mess:
1) Journalist needs to stop using “Hispanic Community” statistics when talking about illegal aliens. The illegal aliens who are Hispanic, should have their own statistical data. If it were done this way open borders people like Juan Hernandez and Geraldo would loose steam.
2) The book Invasion by Michelle Malkin (Copyright Michelle Maglalang 2002) should be mandatory reading for all members of congress, all journalists, and all members of the U.S. Military.
(Some Conclusions made by Michelle Malkin in her book Invasion (Copyright Michelle Maglalang 2002):

Page 231 Stop the revolving door
Page 233 Lock the back door
Page 235 Clean house at the INS
Page 236 Protect our birthright Michelle Malkin Invasion (Copyright Michelle Maglalang 2002).
And I’ll add one more of my own: Don’t let drunk driving illegal aliens out of jail in U.S. cities, so that they can kill more Americans. After they serve their time deport them back to their country.
And I’ll add yet another one: All law breaking Americans, who hire an illegal alien drunk driver should be charge as an accessory to Murder. Don’t forget about the 7-year old boy killed in this case. What if he were your child?
Comment: If you want to stop illegal alien immigration, look no further than Arizona. As soon as they brought the hammer down on the employers, the illegal immigrants left Arizona in large numbers.
