Obama won't pick a woman or minority as his running mate(sorry Richardson). He should and will pick a white male with military or foreign policy experience. He should also be a centrist. I like Jim Webb from West Virginia.

If McCain choose Condi he's toast, and the 3rd Bush term tag will stick.

I’ve also no doubt at all that these liberals would fall in line and vote for Judas Iscariot for VP, as long as Obama’s name is at the top of the ticket.
On the contrary, many Dems would not bat an eye at the Judas VP slot, merely saying, "Hmm, I have not heard of this guy..." to themselves as they checked (D).

I seriously doubt David Boren would consider leaving his post as President of OU. As someone noted elsewhere, most likely it's political opportunism in regards to his son, Rep. Dan Boren.

[...] Michelle Malkin has an interesting theory on David Boren, former governor of Oklahoma, former US Senator, and current President of the University of Oklahoma, as a potential candiate for Obama’s choice of VP. From Malkin’s site: I noticed yesterday that David Boren, former Democratic Senator from Oklahoma and current President of OU, had joined Sam Nunn in endorsing Obama. I thought that was odd, because Boren was known as a fairly conservative Democrat, one who probably had much more in common with Hillary than Obama but is well right of them both. [...]

I wasn't making any claims beyond the fact that the rumors exist and would be something the campaign would have to deal with should Boren be picked to run as VP. I find that doubtful, though a cabinet position might very well be in play. Truth be told, if we are forced to endure an Obama presidency, we could do worse than Sam Nunn as Secretary of Defense.

It might be that there is no evil intention or political scheming behind Boren endorsing Obama. Obama is not (despite a survey to the contrary) the most liberal member of the senate. His health care proposal is more conservative than Clinton's (Obama has fewer mandates, covers fewer people, etc.).

Re: #23

but Boren’s managed to keep active in Oklahoma politics for years and OK’s not exactly Fire Island.

Good point. The rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. Still......

As for Boren being Jewish, I doubt it. I have seen him described as a Methodist, and his daughter is an Episcopal Minister, which makes her a Christian. Sort of.

Well Obama does need someone conservative to balance his ticket and defeat McCain. If Obama does pick someone conservative and pro-gun, pro-middle America it will be a good thing...

Because John "If you are conservative, I'm ignoring you" McCain will then have to pander to anti-illegal immigration conservatives and others with whom he has been at odds with for years...imagine the "maaaverick" having to actually pay attention to the conservative base and its needs.

Sometimes having a beer fortune on tap just isn't enough!
