Are you the final judge on that statement ? It' not over till the fat lady sings , i only see her walking up on the stage .

Perhaps I should have worded my comment to clearly exclude the fine men and women serving in the armed forces. These people were not who I had in mind when I made the comment. It's been a long while since I retired. The native-born Americans I envisioned when I made the comment are the indolent, self-absorbed apathetic video game addicts I encounter in civilian life who could give a rat's ass about our nation (refer to comment #15). I don't think that our positions are signifigantly different, you and I. And a BZ for the joint-combat duty.

Of course, US Navy as well with joint combat experience. My sister-in-law is a legal immigrant to the US, too.

The men and women I have served with exhibit, to me, some the finest examples of US pride and values of anyone I have ever known, legal immigrants included. It is a shame that in all your time in the service you didn't ever have the honor to serve with the types of people I did.

The USCIS is a bureau of the DHS and is staffed by federal employees and falls under the same pay and benefits packages as the rest of the federal government employees under the auspices of the Office of Personnel Management ...

From the USCIS.GOV website:

The USCIS workforce is over 15,000 strong, including both federal employees and contract staff.

USCIS provides the legal representation for the DHS in immigration proceedings and does most of the immigration adjudications as well as processing the visas and green cards and other immigration related documentation ...

Sorry ... the job positions are part of the GS Schedule so they are on the government payroll and it has nothing to do with how much they collect in fees ...

For example if they came over on a K-1 fiancee visa and married a US Citizen they can apply in three. And (I seem to recall - can’t testify to this:) if they served in the armed forces.

Correct and they need to pay taxes during those 3 years too. Also the percentage of people of on K-1 fiancee visa is less as compared to other LEGAL immigrants and the percentage is much lesser when compared to illegal immigrants.

Looks like another troll has exposed himself eh brad?

Do you have any valid points to argue or you just blame others when they expose your false facts?

I guess you forgot to read the Terms of Agreement….No morons allowed!....It takes 5 years of being a green card holder before you can apply for citizenship? Wow, this is nice to know, I’m sure all the idiots you vote for will adhere to this policy.

Is that why you believe everything you see on this blog without checking facts? 5 year rule is a true fact but I guess jerks like you can't understand rules.

...The employees of USCIS are federal employees paid for by our tax money....

No, they are not. They are paid by application fees. Taxes are something which you pay on your paycheck. I can't believe you don't the difference b/w taxes and fees. Are you in like 2nd grade or something?

notanexpert on 32 gives nice example on the difference b/w taxes and fees.

>..and it is USCIS … not USICS …..
Agreed, corrected.

Again, illegal immigration is absolutely an issue that needs to be resolved by fences, sending people back and law enforcement. But this post is so full of mistakes which I am pointing it out here. Lets leave the style of arguing/posting with no fact-check to liberal idiots - not here.

And Michelle problem with the flash-cards is not that they are being handed out but that they say that the most important benefit in being a citizen is ‘Federal Job’ ‘Passport’ and ‘Petition Others to join you’. No metion of the freedom of speech, religion, association - bill of rights….

Oh, this clarified it a bit for me. I think this may be an issue of semantics. Benefits and rights are considerably different.

Ironically enough, most legal immigrants I personally know (disclosure: I worked for the government on international matters) have far more knowledge about the history and founding documents of our country than the lion's share of natural-born citizens. Guess that says something positive about the legal immigration process ... or terrible about our schools.

Last week, I told you about the DHS civics flash card set for immigrants seeking naturalization that included one rather annoying entitlement-stoking card...

Seems kind of silly and downright unamerican to patronize and chastise folks immigrating legally to our United States. The benefits of U.S. citizenship noted by DHS don't seem all that extravagant or offensive, either.

I hate it when illegal aliens try to equate their crimes to legal immigration, yet we're browbeating folks trying to do it legally.

Then again, the three branches card was amusing...

Although I'm not quite sure if this poster is being sarcastic or not, I do remember a theory bandied about in the late eighties about a similar move to unite the Americas into an economic super union designed to counter the EU, which was then only a conception, and to strengthen our hand in a possible confrontation with an emerging Eurasian market.

I would hate to think of such an affront to the United States' sovereignty ever taking place, but given the world's trend towards continental super unions, I do think the possibility of this happening is very real in the next one hundred years.

Here's my contribution's:

Question: You have many rights in the USA, but what is more important than rights?

Answer: Your responsibilities as a citizen.

Question: Why are you leaving your society and culture to come to the USA?

Answer: Because you are not satisfied with it, and believe that American society and culture are better.

My sister works with a woman who immigrated here from South Korea. It took her many years to become a citizen and she wanted to bring her mother over here to live with her. This was denied. She gets very upset talking about the illegals in this country, especially when hearing they sneak in their entire uneducated, non-English speaking families and that the gov't would like to give them all amnesty. Guess if you can't walk over the border, you just don't matter.
