liberals don’t believe there is anything the government shouldn’t do but have been unable to fix the problem despite spending Trillions of dollars on it since the 1960′s.

Parrott said reducing carbon emissions will cause the price of carbon to rise making it profitable for companies to invest in new technologies and create new jobs including some for workers in outdated industries, such as coal plants.

Using less fossil fuel increases the cost? Using more fossil fuel increases the cost?

Sounds like the global warming hysteria — with a new twist — once carbon has a price, the control of it, the regulation of it, will be used to generate scarcity.

I’m sorry, but do to an increased shortage in illegal aliens the government is unable to provide yard maintance services at this time. We will be able to resume this service as soon as we are able to tear down that pesky fence just to the south of TX….. all 3 feet of it.

I grew up poor – in a tiny house with my parents and 3 siblings. We did not have a lot – we didn’t even have A/C until I was 12 years old! (We used an attic fan). Yet I cannot remember being unhappy or feeling downtrodden because of my parent’s financial status. Sure, it was tough sharing one bathroom with 5 other people. My parents drove used cars, we had one TV (no cable!) and didn’t get a ton of junky toys for Christmas. My parents didn’t expect anything from the government. They took care of us without government assistance. But we had each other and I have wonderful memories of my childhood.

People in our country are so overindulged, they don’t even realize it! It’s sickening.

But McCain has been criticized for his lack of direct poverty initiatives. McCain rarely mention’s poverty on his Web site, said Sharon Parrott, director of welfare reform at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a policy group that analyzes the impact of budget decisions on poor people.
“McCain has two major thrusts in his domestic agenda – cutting taxes and spending. But in terms of poverty, there isn’t a lot there. I think he believes tax cuts will increase growth and help with poverty, but I don’t think the evidence is there,” Parrott said.

According to New York Times reporter Matt Bai, CBPP is one of three left wing think tanks funded by the Democracy Alliance. The other two are the Center for American Progress and the Economic Policy Institute. According to Bai’s account, representatives of CBPP and the other two Democracy Alliance-sponsored think tanks attended the May 2006 meeting of the Democracy Alliance at the Barton Creek Resort near Austin, Texas. Their role was to “talk about the agendas they were busy crafting that would catapult Democratic politics into the economic future.”
