Baltimore bus beating update: Ringleader jailed
The teenager who led the racially-tinged assault against Sarah Kreager on a Baltimore bus is going to jail. Prosecutors revealed that she had been the ringleader in prior beatings and attacks. The Baltimore Sun reports:
The 15-year-old Robert Poole Middle school student whom prosecutors accused of sparking a brutal December attack on a woman on a city bus was sentenced today to a secure juvenile jail until the judge releases her.
In arguing to send Nakita McDaniels to a residential treatment facility, Baltimore prosecutors revealed that the student body vice president had twice before led group assaults on lone female victims, one of which ended with the victim being stabbed and losing consciousness.
“She could have led the other students to stay on the bus — she was the vice president of the student government,” Circuit Judge David Young said. “She chose to lead the troops in the other direction. There are many types of leaders. There are good leaders, and there are those leaders who choose to use their abilities to do wrong. In my heart, based on my belief and my experience, the next person who argues with her may be a homicide victim.”
Also today, Young dismissed cases against two of the nine teens originally accused in the assault that left Sarah Kreager, 26, with two broken bones around her left eye in a fight aboard the No. 27 bus in Hampden sparked by a dispute over a seat.
Young ordered another youth, who had admitted her role in the attack before the monthlong trial, to complete the community service he had assigned her. The disposition hearings for four other students were ongoing and expected to stretch into tomorrow.
B’more blogger Jeff Quinton notes that two of the juveniles implicated in the attack now plan to sue the Maryland Transit Administration, the bus driver and the city school system.

The suit has not been filed yet. They are suing because the prosecuters are dropping the charges in exchange for 15 hours of community service. Therefore, there is no guilty verdict, so they “feel” they have been “harmed”. So in exchange for getting away with it they are going for the big lottery win.
What a Country!
Hopefully the judge has more common sense than the plaintiff attorney.
Can’t wait until the city attorney gets this one and decides to settle instead of going before a Baltimore City jury. And they wonder why the teens in the city are out of control!

The real question though is how in the world do we deal with an animal like this? I would say these people but, They can be delt with easly enough compaired to the LEADER. I can say it is a full time effort for my wife and I. But maybe this problem is a reason for GOVERNMENT SACTIONED / MANDATED REMOVEAL OF REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS OF THESE PARENTS? I just said that? As much as I hate that I even had the thought of giving any of these powers to the government.;(,:)!
Well, to put ’student body vice-president’ of a high school into perspective:
The current Student Government Assembly President at my university is a close friend of mine who, in my worthy opinion, has done a wonderful job. He is always prompt, articulate, diplomatic, and accountable. To say the least, his service has been impressive. Three weeks ago the school held student government elections for which candidates had been allowed to campaign the two weeks prior. Three other young gentlemen I know pooled their resources and had a free-food cookout on the next-to-last day of voting, complete with a wireless-internet ‘voting booth’. In essence they had people vote for them in return for a hotdog and a bag of chips.
My friend lost the re-election.
While the President-elect may also perform the job effectively, the students may prove to be disappointed in someone who is admittedly often absent from campus. Hopefully the students who voted against proven leadership will remember the hotdogs if the new president isn’t up to snuff. I don’t care, I’m going to Oxford.
Oops, forgot the moral of the story…
If a university election can be won with hotdogs given to a fickle population of college students then the position of high school ’student body vice-president’ can’t be a very prestigious post.
It’s actually just a popularity contest much like like the US Presidential race. Not policy or skill, it’s good looks and cool points that really count.

Buying votes with taxpayer (your money and mine) $$$$$ on the part of elected officials is the same concept as “buying” votes with hot dogs and chips.
Until we U.S. citizens truly catch the ideal of voting for people of honor-we will have the government we deserve.

Yeah this situation is a terrible tragedy, I hope the victim heals 100% from her injuries, the lawsuit looks like a joke as of right now, and I hope justice is served. No person deserves to get jumped by multiple people under any circumstances. It’s cowardly and wrong. That being said, I’m not sure why this is news outside of Baltimore and the surrounding areas.
Rev. Al won’t get involved based on these facts as of now. It’s not an every black case type of deal. The Revs’ never got involved in Mike Vick’s case, or Pacman Jones, or Marion Jones……

25 years ago when my wife and I were really in danger and needed help immediately, it was a Black woman, a total stranger to us, that saved us without being asked and without even giving us the time to thank her. Berry filed charges on the same day as the Sun published a letter to the editor from state’s attorney Patricia Jessamy. It said most teachers assaulted in city schools do not press charges.
Under Maryland law, unless a police officer sees a second-degree assault, the victim must file charges.
While Baltimore schools have expelled students 112 times this academic year for assaulting staffers, only a few of the victims have filed charges.

Several people have commented that this should be a local story only. I disagree. Remember OJ? Was it only a local LA problem? No. We need to swiftly punish those who break laws and mores of the community. Until that happens, it will only encourage and increase the probability of a re-occurance of that type of behavior.
As a Marylander with 2 small children, I’m NOT interested in visiting Baltimore for any reason. My mother was in the hospital there for surgery a few years back, and that was all I want to see of that city.
I thought someone mentioned earlier that maybe Sarah could recoup the money that these criminals may receive by suing them civilly? Too bad it has to be that way, but it may turn out to be poetic justice for Sarah after all, esp. if the perps wouldn’t otherwise have assets to pay a civil judgment. Wouldn’t it be great if whatever “lottery winnings” they may get from their frivolous and outrageous suit against the MTA would have to be immediately turned over to the true victim in this crime.

Al, in particular has always spoken about harmful lyrics in hiphop music and marched about it. Of course you don’t hear about it on this blog. If you care to know about this stuff do a google search, or read some of their articles.
Go checkout the Trinity Church websight, and you will see how they focus on the Black home, Black empowerment, and Black accountablility. Of course, people like you and Hannity call them racist when they focus on these Black issues.
#6- I know your are enjoying your Wright derangement syndrome, but if you did any research on his teachings, and on Black liberation theology itself, as opposed to watching select, offensive, soundbites, you would know that committing violent crimes, and otherwise embarrassing or harming, people in your community is contrary to black empowerment and accountability. Nothing in Wright’s teaching, or Black Liberation Theology in general would show support for reckless violence or self-destructive behavior by black people.
Black people generally are appalled by black crime, as we are offended by crime in general. Too suggest otherwise, is ludicrous and analagous to a suggestion that white people foster and support violence, and immorality because white boys have shot up schools at a higher rate, and white teachers have a tendency to bang their students. White people are outraged by this behavior by their own…generally, and black people are generally outraged about the problems in our communities. This is something I agree with.
I was born and raised in Baltimore, but I only return now for brief family visits. I don’t linger in any state that doesn’t accept my concealed pistol permit. I’m good to go from Arizona to Montana to Virginia, but not my home state. I refuse to live in a disarmed victim state, subject to attack by feral monsters.

Instead, you will have a family – a wife, sons and daughters who will deeply love and respect you because you have earned it, and your children will grow up to be respectable and successful and you will burst with pride when you see them. You will discover that extra seating has been added to your heart – you are no longer totally self absorbed. Your anger will be lifted from you and replaced with Grace. God himself will personally bless you.
