BDS outbreak: Anti-war nut attacks wheelchair-bound girl; Update: Video link, “We Are Change” assailant info added

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 24, 2008 12:49 PM

Scroll down for updates…

They don’t have a mugshot of the attacker yet, but when they do, it’ll be another item to add to the Unhinged mugshot collection. Yeah, it’s getting crowded.

Via the NYPost:

A man heckling First Lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna outside the 92nd Street Y was arrested after he punched a wheelchair-bound girl whose parents has told him to shut up, authorities said yesterday. German Talis, 22, was shouting obscenities at the Bushes, who were leaving the building Tuesday, when he crossed paths with Wendy and John Lovetro and their daughter Maureen, 18, who has cerebral palsy.

They had been in the audience to hear the Bushes talk about their children’s book, “Read All About It.”

“He began yelling about Iraq and Iran at Jenna Bush. She was waving at the crowd. I told the guy, ‘What are you doing? Shut up. This is about a child and books,’ ” said John Lovetro. “He was unperturbed. I said, ‘Get out of here! You’re being a moron!’ ”

The next thing he knew, Talis was allegedly punching Maureen - a fan of the first lady since meeting her in 2004.

“I heard my daughter hysterical yelling, ‘He’s hitting me!’ ” said Wendy Lovetro.

“He punched her on the shoulder blades, but that wasn’t enough,” she said.

“My husband pushed the wheelchair away from him and he reached beyond my husband and began pounding my daughter in the thigh.”

I expect Linn Benton Community College will offer Talis a full scholarship ASAP.

***

Several readers send video from the “We Are Change” site. These left-wing, Truther agitators claim that the Lovetros attacked one of their loons, whom they identity as “Gary.”

Arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow.

This group seems to be able to make quite a nice living as professional disrupters. Wonder who funds them?

Here’s a lovely group portrait:

All I can say is that it is a good thing I was not witness to such an event or I surely would have caught charges myself for attempting to adjust his outlook on why he thinks is appropriate to assault someone in a wheelchair.

Geez! That makes my blood boil!

He reminds me of the hero I encountered upon returning from Vietnam. I was severely wounded in my right foot, wearing a walking cast & using a cane to aid my walk. A group of Army returnees went out of SF airport ahead of me. the hero didn’t say a word to them, but decided it would be OK to spit on a Marine Green uniform that wasn’t moving well. He missed with the spit bomb, but my cane opened up a nice 4-5 gash on the side of his head. the funniest part was a SF cop observed it, & told the hero & his very ugly girlfriend that he saw the assault & if they wanted to make a deal out of it he would arrest both of them for assault. After the hero left it turned out the cop was ex-Army. FYI, I was officially Navy (corpsman) who served with the Marines & still consider myself a Marine as I spent the bulk of my time with them.

When I see such behavior by anti-war zealots (especially of the liberal persuasion), I just want to scream!!! It depresses the hell out of me. What have we come to as a nation when people can’t deal with their anger management issues and instead take them out on other people?

Dr. Sanity The Consequences of Denial

    • The denier must then place the blame for the unacceptable reality on someone else and that leads to increased conflict between deniers and non-deniers. Efforts to maintain their denial consumes them and will lead them to escalate their anger and rage as their denial becomes untenable and ever more obvious.

    • The denier will begin distort language and logic to rationalize and justify their behavior(examples of this are too numerous to mention, but I have discussed it here , here and here) . Eventually, cognitive strategies and rational argument will be abandoned altogether by the denier, because those strategies are not sustainable and are unable to convince others; at which point the person in denial will simply refer to his feelings or emotions as the sole justification.

    • The denier will feel justified in acting out against those who threaten the peacefulness of their fantasy (check out the “peacefulness” and “reasonable” slogans chanted at most antiwar rallies these days). Check out, for example, the kind of vitriol that is being directed at people like Glenn Reynolds and Mark Steyn because they have had the audacity to either suggest (Reynolds) that it might save lives to covertly target Iranian scientists (personally, I prefer that we target the delusional mullahs) instead of having to use massive air strikes where surely more people would be killed; or (Steyn) who discusses in his book the genocidal trajectory that Europe appears to be on because they refusing to acknowledge or deal with the reality of immigrant muslim demographics today. Considering the fact that Europe has taken this track before in recent memory, Steyn is more of a Delphic oracle, rather than the genocidal maniac he is being portrayed as by those who would also deny reality.

    • Problem solving and decision-making will deteriorate as the entire focus of energy becomes the maintenance of the denial. In place of rational alternatives, excessive emotionality in general; and specifically anger and rage escalate toward those who are “blamed” for the reality that does not conform to the denier’s worldview. (consider the lack of any specific ideas in the Democratic party’s agenda; or it’s reflex negativity toward any substantive position or any compromise offered to them.

    • In the end, interactions with those in denial are characterized by the denier’s frequent smugness; sense of superiority; arrogance; belittlement of alternative views; and undiluted hatred toward anyone or any idea that questions their worldview (see the links related to the attacks on Reynolds and Steyn above).

Both articles depict Gary as a heartless villain, attacking a handicapped girl—all of which is the furthest from the truth. Gary did not and has never lifted a hand toward any citizen, as confirmed by all witnesses. We will be releasing a video interview of Gary after his release from central bookings explaining exactly what took place, followed by the witnesses, all of whom corroborate his statement. It is without question that Gary is the victim of Assault. This poor girl is being used to engage the peaceful activist of We Are Change. John Lovetro, the girl’s father, struck Gary leaving a flesh wound under his right eye. Gary, aware of his rights, did not at any time defend himself and yet remains the victim, now facing charges of 3rd degree assault. The fact that they lied about the camera getting broken when it wasn’t, tells me that they edited out the truth that showed Gary acting like a crazed truther with BDS. Gary: “….kicked out of the building for no reason.”

Officer: “Well, you committed criminal trespass.”

Gary: ” I didn’t commit criminal trespass. I had paid for a ticket. I was sitting in my seat….”

Officer. “Then you were harassing them…”

Gary. “I was picked up and removed…I was just…”

Officer. ” I have trouble believing that.”

The officer speaks for all of us here.

An unfortunately for for the Infowars.com people, here’s the best they can do for “police brutality”:

Officer: “Folks, do me a favor. Take a step back. It makes me very uncomfortable.”

Well, leave it to LGM to defend a child-abusing democrat. They won’t fight al quedia, but they’ll beat on girl with cerebral palsay.

    Nice one, dems.

Oh, and LGM, if were the other way around, steam would be rising from your head.

Such is the way with partisan politics. Dems will sacrifice the Western way of life for temporary pleasure, so this incident comes as no surprise.

So when an innocent person is attacked, there’s another side of the story we should hear? Like, maybe she had it coming? Maybe she deserved it? Maybe the attacker was under stress and acted out?

I used to think you were just a kook, but now I think you’re a creep.

Please tell me on what planet attacking a young lady in a wheelchair is in any way a defensible action? If this guy had any whoo haaas….he would have attacked the dad. That could possibly be defensible…not likely…but possible.

    But a girl in a wheelchair….

lgm, seriously, that is pretty freakin ruthless.

There is no excuse for hitting a disabled person - especially a young lady with an orthopedic disability who has made the exhaustive effort to come out in a show of appreciation and respect for her nation’s First Family.
