A man heckling First Lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna outside the 92nd Street Y was arrested after he punched a wheelchair-bound girl whose parents has told him to shut up, authorities said yesterday. German Talis, 22, was shouting obscenities at the Bushes, who were leaving the building Tuesday, when he crossed paths with Wendy and John Lovetro and their daughter Maureen, 18, who has cerebral palsy.
They had been in the audience to hear the Bushes talk about their children’s book, “Read All About It.”
“He began yelling about Iraq and Iran at Jenna Bush. She was waving at the crowd. I told the guy, ‘What are you doing? Shut up. This is about a child and books,’ ” said John Lovetro. “He was unperturbed. I said, ‘Get out of here! You’re being a moron!’ ”
The next thing he knew, Talis was allegedly punching Maureen – a fan of the first lady since meeting her in 2004.
“I heard my daughter hysterical yelling, ‘He’s hitting me!’ ” said Wendy Lovetro.
“He punched her on the shoulder blades, but that wasn’t enough,” she said.
“My husband pushed the wheelchair away from him and he reached beyond my husband and began pounding my daughter in the thigh.”
I expect Linn Benton Community College will offer Talis a full scholarship ASAP.

Arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow.

All I can say is that I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I would have certainly jumped to her defense against this deranged coward. I worked in Fairfax County schools with CP kids and they were all the greatest. If some nut had attacked one of “my kids”, I would have had the legal right to defend her; and defend her I would have, most violently. Do not enrage a Scotsman.

If this guy battered a disabled lady in a wheelchair, why is he still able to speak? He should be in a coma fighting for his life with an entire wheelchair up his a**. Lets say he didn’t hit her and just screamed into the ears and “projected spittle” at the people who came to welcome the Bush family. Getting arrested is good enough, but he should be spat on or soaked with cola or whatever by everyone who was irritated by his conduct.

After watching the video, I’m convinced that Gary was mad because he couldn’t have his way with the Secret Service Agent, and then after the girl’s big Dad told him to shut up, he looked around to find someone he could take it out on and she fit the bill. It makes my stomach churn to hear these scumb call out “free speech” while they try to stop others from speaking.
Gary should be put away for many years, but we know he won’t. He’ll get some liberal judge to slap his wrist and tell him to go home to mommy. The only ones who are punished are the victims. I hope Mrs. Malkin keeps us updated on this case, but then I should know better than to hope, for I’m sure she will.

Has anyone, besides me, realized that if Obama is not elected to be our next president, cities will burn? These nutbags will not take losing lying down and I fear for our country. This story made me cry; literally. Where is the outrage from the alleged rescuers of the downtrodden and helpless on the left? I would expect even THEY would condemn this hideous attack.

You can test the veracity of this group when you examine the video of the event. At first we see a verbal confrontation between Gary and a Secret Service agent. Then a physical confrontation that conveniently destroys the video camera. Magically later we see a “different” video camera in use with the same sound level as the original camera, the same light levels, held at the same height off the ground as the original camera.
The fact that they lied about the camera getting broken when it wasn’t, tells me that they edited out the truth that showed Gary acting like a crazed truther with BDS. They had a video camera, why didn’t they film the guy with the disabled daughter attacking Gary as they claim? Why? Because they are lying.
For those of you who don’t have the time to listen in detail, here’s some choice excerpts of the conversation between the policeman and Gary/Matt as G/M sits in the van:
Officer: “I told you. I was right there when it happened.”
Gary: “….kicked out of the building for no reason.”
Officer: “Well, you committed criminal trespass.”
Gary: ” I didn’t commit criminal trespass. I had paid for a ticket. I was sitting in my seat….”
Officer. “Then you were harassing them…”
Gary. “I was picked up and removed…I was just…”
Officer. ” I have trouble believing that.”

Given the strident form of BDS we’ve seen making itself menacingly known this political season, I have no reason to doubt the Lovetros’ veracity! What’s more, even if the Lovetros did do something to instigate the incident, I am disgusted that anyone would attack a person in a wheelchair.
There is no excuse for hitting a disabled person – especially a young lady with an orthopedic disability who has made the exhaustive effort to come out in a show of appreciation and respect for her nation’s First Family.
As a teacher who has pulled bus duty many a day, I’ve seen the strain and toll it takes on physically disabled students and their families just to get to school, so I know it must have meant a lot to Maureen to make the effort to be at the First Lady and Daughter’s book event. It’s an intolerable shame that some demented bully had to spoil it for her and her family.
If “Gary” is determined to be a supporter of either HRC or BHO, then that candidate should step up to the plate and apologize to the Lovetros family for “Gary’s” actions.

I’m surprised you posted this video Michelle, it raises a lot of questions. In all honesty, this doesn’t make any sense at all. Even as unsavory trutherism is, there are some big gaps here.
First thing is that there are no obscenities in the video, yet the Post says:

Saying the ‘The next thing he knew’ is a massive logical gap usually said by people who are lying. Why would this guy just start punching a girl in a wheelchair, it makes no sense. He didn’t look high, or drunk, he might have believed crazy things but he didn’t seem crazy.
The witnesses seemed to have a more logical story in all honesty. A fan of the Bushes gets pissed off by a truther heckling the wife and child of the president and starts wailing on him.

I’ve figured it out – they’ve taken a playbook from the people at the Westboro Baptist Church and using the First Amendment to say vile things at inappropriate places, then videotape and sue the people who are fed up with their conduct. Except this time We Are Change put the wrong person in place and it was he that threw the punches. The video camera was destroyed (snicker), thus eliminating the evidence. Just another money making scam to finance their operations…..

Interesting….I’ve checked out We Are Change on the IRS website. There is no such entity registered as a 501c3 with the IRS. I doubt that they are a 501c4. Could they be incorporated under a different name and using a ficticious business name? I couldn’t find their name on the NY State Charities database. It appears that this group is not a non-profit corporation as recognized by any government, and thus is a for-profit entity. Therefore, all of the donations received are taxable as income. I couldn’t find their IRS Form 990 either.
