Nancy Pelosi’s lost Biblical verse

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 24, 2008 10:06 AM

1abible.jpg On Earth Day, Nancy Pelosi quoted the Bible: “The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us honor the earth and our future generations with a commitment to fight climate change.”

Apparently, it’s a favorite verse of hers. She has used it in official statements on global warming, the budget, Martin Luther King Day, Christmas, and why she’s a Democrat. Jim Hoft has audio chronicles.

Dr. Claude Mariottini, an Old Testament scholar, noted on his blog last year and this year that no such Biblical verse exists.

CNS News asked other Bible scholars for the source of the quote in the Old Testament that Nancy Pelosi keeps invoking.

They can’t find it either.

Can you?

***

Maybe her couch buddy Newt Gingrich can help her out?

Blogger Joel Osborn: “I guess my questions about mixing church and state aren’t a concern here. Unless you count the made up religion of environmentalism.”

Stacy McCain gives Nan an assist:

Normally, I don’t help Democrats, but because I am bitterly clinging to my religion — and since I’m already working with Rush Limbaugh to help Hillary Clinton stage her comeback — in this case I’ll be happy to cite chapter and verse. Genesis 1:28:

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

This verse kind of pisses off the Planned Parenthood crowd, to say nothing of the animal-rights activists.

Of course, Mrs. Pelosi is a typical liberal hypocrite in this regard. She supports population control, but has five children herself, much like Al Gore, who frets about mankind overwhelming the Earth but is a father of four, or Ted Turner, who supports China’s one-child policy but is himself a father of five.

Since Mrs. Pelosi seems to be in such need of biblical guidance, I suppose she won’t mind a backslid Baptist preaching her an old-time gospel sermon.

Because, you see, if you’ll “spend a little time in the Word” — as we bitter Bible-clingers are wont to do — once you get finished reading the Old Testament, you come to something we call the New Testament, which is about a guy named Jesus. Maybe you heard of him.

I guess it all depends on what Bible you believe in. “Bible,” after all, is derived from the Greek “Biblios,” which means book. That’s why the Bible we are most familiar with has “Holy” in front of it – literally, “Holy Book.” I doubt if the “bible” SanFranNan reads from is holy in any way.

The sermon attracted multitudes of the people, hungry and thirsting. And they came unto him and said, “Master, how are to we provide sustinance to the masses, who thirst and hunger?” And Al said unto them, “Bring me the loaves and wine, that I may consider this matter”. And the stores of food and drink were brought forth to the Goracle so he could consider the plight of the people. After many hours, the master appeared and said, “I have thee a solution to thine problems! I fear, however, in my deep thinking on the matter, I have consumed all the loaves, meat, fowl and fished; I have partaken of all the wine. But I have supped and drunk for the good of all of ye, to impart my true wisdom to ye knaves.” And the people dropped upon their knees in gratitude for his knowledge”.

Then the Goracle intoned and commanded: “Go forth to all the towns and all the villages, and gather all the coin of the realm. Gather all precious gem and mineral. Ye are forthwith commanded to bring them unto me. I will then give ye one part in 100 so ye may go forth and procure food and drink to ease the hunder and thirst of my followers. then remaining 99 parts shall be thy tribute to me.”

    And all was good.

I disagree. I believe one of the main reasons that the left has attained so much power in this country is simply that their ideas are so ludicrous that people think it isn’t worth while debating them. Not to sidetrack you there Soap, because I agree 100% with the context in which you meant that posting. But the correct interpretation of the original text is “Thou shall not murder”. Killing someone who breaks in your home with a gun who is about to shoot you is totally different than being on the other end of that scenario and willfully murdering another human being.

I disagree. I believe one of the main reasons that the left has attained so much power in this country is simply that their ideas are so ludicrous that people think it isn’t worth while debating them. It wasn’t very long ago that socialized medicine was just a big joke. If either Democrat wins this election, it could be reality.

Txvet2 … that’s probably one of the most astute observations I’ve seen recently. You’ve summed it up quite well. I’ve experienced it first-hand. I’ve failed to call out stupid ideas for what they are, only to see them take root in the manure of ignorance and take off like weeds.

Then I’m left scratching my head, astounded at how easily the blind can lead the intellectually lazy.

Those of us left – the remnant of a fading good and decent society need to keep hitting back. Hard, and often.

I know you are so right on that point. I don’t mean I never go nose to nose. I turn my right cheek often to show the other one, I’m hoping it gets struck…… there’s the rub in that phrase, it isn’t an act of submission. Historically had you been struck on your right cheek , it would have been a backhanded strike… a very insulting action. You turn your left cheek to the aggressor, if he strikes you again then you have shown his arrogance and bullying ways and can act accordingly. Jesus wasn’t about submission. I do challenge, tex, but I guess what I meant to say is…. I pick my battles to win the war. Never fear, I will challenge.

I’d like to ask her if forcing inferior, passenger car, boat, motorcyle ect. damaging Ethanol Blended fuels on people is in the Bible anywhere?

Because in the 2006 election cycle, the Political Action Comittee for Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the nation’s top ethanol maker, gave $120,000 to federal candidates while fellow agribusiness giant Cargill, No. 2 in ethanol, gave $223,000 to House and Senate candidates.

Now both my trucks, & I’ve noticed many other vehicles ping like hell since the fuel distributors are cutting the gasoline too much with this stuff, like cocaine dealers who put flower/talc in their product to make more money.

Pinging damages engines over time, but Nancy Pelosi doesn’t care, because we pay for all the engines/automobiles that cart her sorry ass around too!

It’s time people push back against this green-bat sh*t. Enough is enough.. I’m tired of going broke just trying to get to & from work. Pelosi took over Congress & did NOTHING she said she would about fuel costs, & now the Dems want even more taxes on fuel.

Here me now peeps. For the first time EVER, companies are naming FUEL as being a bigger expense than LABOR/people.

Meanwhile Bio-fuelers & Politicians accepting lobbyist money are fleecing us, & threatening our economy with this Go Green BS. It needs to stop. Do you see the black moon rising over our economy here? $3.58 per Gallon average with no end in site? How long can the economy sustain that? NOT LONG!

I want to hear Pelosi’s Bible verse for that.. How about “Thou Shalt Not Steal for Thy Neighbor.”

Find out how bad your local fuel distributors are poning you here:

Thanks to the green-bats like Pelosi for enabling them.

Here’s what I came up with, from Genesis, chapter 1:
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [b] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

    And this:

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. ”

    And from Revelation 14:
7and he said with a loud voice, “(A)Fear God, and (B)give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who (C)made the heaven and the earth and sea and (D)springs of waters.”

Nope; nothing I could find about ministering to the needs of God’s creation as an act of worship.

I’m surprised that Sanny Nanny, doesn’t rewrite the entire bible. So that it falls in line with all of her agenda.

She might have outsourced that to one of the lunatic, lefty drones that haunt this blog. She is, after all, “Queen Bee” of the House, with more “important” matters to deal with. From the Book of Al:

And so it was hot. The land was warming. The heat’s measure was one barrel of sweat for every hour of every day flowing from the Goracle. The people were afraid.

The Goracle spoke. “be not afraid, for I bear good news. I will shield thee from the heat of the earth. In my divine wisdom, I will cool my flock”.

And the people cried, “But how, master? We tremble without your presence”.

Extending his hand, Al intoned, “Ye shall be calm. For I will help thee. I will grow in size to create a cooling shade for all ye who follow me. I will grow such bulk as to create my own field of gravity, thereby possessing my own atmosphere and clean air. Thee shall take refuge within me, and shall be sheltered by my mass. ”

“Go forth and slay 10 times 10 times 10 times 10 beasts of the field. Ye shall part their flesh from their bones to feed to me. Ye shall cut their flesh into strips of a hands width by the length of the beast. Ye shall sew the strips of all the beasts together, so I shall have a cinch for mine waist. ”

“Ye shall make all thine riches mine, so as to pay homage to mine love for you. Be gone, and allow me to grow.”

And so the Goracle grew in size and mass. When celestial matter began to find orbit around the Goracle, he knew that the time had come. And he gathered the people and spoke:

“Ye know have shelter in mine mass. Mine shade shall cool ye and mine mass shall have clean air to fill thine lung. Verily I say unto thee, what is mine is mine, and what is thine is mine. ”

And the people rejoiced, and all was good. Al the most merciful, praise be his roundness.
