I think I can explain the double standard: If Bush had said it, people would have believed he really meant it, thus it would be offensive to people who are offended by sincere expression of faith.

On the other hand, people know that Hillary will say anything if it serves her purpose. Does anyone think for one moment that she was being sincere? I think not. Thus, what’s for those same people to get offended about? Her false claim to faith is offensive to the faithful, not to the anti-theists.
