Wright is wrong: Protest at the National Press Club
Passing along a message from my friends at FreeRepublic: They’ll be protesting Jeremiah Wright’s appearance at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Monday at 8am.
More info here.
I’m told they plan to sing “God Bless America.” Go add your voice if you’re in the area.

Freedom of speech definitely comes with a very high cost.
Wright’s on a PR campaign. He’ll be purring like a fluffy kitten for the next few months…I can’t wait till we get a visit from him in our area. Time to unleash the hounds.
Wish I could be there.
“Give em Hell”
Rove that evil genius. Wright should wear a big red bow from now ’til elections, as he’s a gift from the Rovean heavens.
Get Rosanne to sing that will relly drive him nuts. Why would anyone invite this turd burper to speak?
Wright’s chickens!……are comin’ home……TO ROOST!
Not if he acts anything like his interview on PBS
Every time this clown opens his fat yap,he drives another nail into Obama’s political coffin…let’s hope he doesn’t shut up till sometime in mid November
In my best Monty Burns impersonation, “Excellent!” Go get him Free Republic, wish I could be there. One of the few down sides of living in the middle of nowhere Idaho we are so far removed from the National level political process. I would love to listen to them sing God Bless America too. Trust me folks you don’t every want to hear this old guy sing. I have been told I couldn’t carry a tune with a forklift.
He probably thinks he is some sort of SupaStar…
God Bless America, indeed.
aunursa,
That picture of Moyers and Wright; it looks like Moyers wants to lean over and kiss Wright. I didn’t watch (no TV!!!). Was it as sick as that picture makes it look?
Rooster-
You must have been on the USS Harry S. Truman CVN-75 since that was our motto!
GSP
In a rational world, I’d agree with you - but in liberal-land, where every event is completely disconnected from every other event, I’m not so sure Wright is driving nails. I wish it were so, but unlike liberals, I know that wishing does not make it true.
I have alot of family in the D.C. area and they will be there. They look forward to singing with other like Americans who love America.
Oh, it won’t affect his core, but everyone else …
No GSP, my pops is the ol’ salt(1941-1946), I was the artillery and infantry side of the house in the US Army, 1982-2006.
Not too much crap down here(yet) in Meridian, Ms., so I envy those who stand up for Americans everywhere.
I wonder if Mr. Wright will sing along to the National Anthem but change the word “God Bless America…” to the one he prefers.
All I can say is, “Go Jeremiah Go”. We need your help in this election.
I doubt the MSM will notice or report the protest of Rev Wright.
aj montana,
Turd burper!
I love it!
Ok forgive if I am speaking about a topic that I am not all that familiar with. Religion in my family was not pressed upon us and we were given a choice to pretty much follow where our hearts took us. I took the road that has me look at things regarding religion and faith a little different than others.
Anyway, isn’t the point of church to preach faith, love, kindness, friendliness, quote scripture and things of that nature.
How can this man even be considered a preacher in the eyes of those that truly believe in god?
Thanks for your time.
Exactly what I think everytime this guy pops up in the press. The MSM must never ask this question because they don’t get it. I have never heard a pastor swear while speaking to his people…ever.
Mohawk,
Two thoughts:
1. He is credentialed
2. He has lemmings
The more he talks, the bigger the landslide for McCain.
A very interesting comment posted after that NYT article reminds the reader that Bill Moyers is the same “journalist” who recently “documented” a “deliberate republican campaign of lies” leading up to the Iraq War. Now, Moyers ironically plays ringmaster in a deliberate campaign of lies to dry clean a rabid black racist preacher’s image, in order to protect the underlying lie that one of this rabid black racist preacher’s apostles is actually a race unifier.
Oh, the tangled web we weave.
JW is getting a lot of praise for his “courage”
I think he’s giving christianity a bad name.
I Know why Obama made the “Bitter” comment: Because the church he goes to, it’s filled with bitter people including their pastor. So, that’s all he knows…He thinks all churches are filled with bitter people. Is his mind, you only go to church if you are bitter. What kind of people you think would listen to JW?
The funny thing is that at first, i kinda felt bad for Michelle Obama when she said: She felt proud of being an American for the fisrt time in her adult life…I really believed she got confused in her choice of words and it just came out wrong. But after the JW thing hit the news, i changed my mind about Michelle Obama. I KNOW she didn’t make a mistake in her choice of words. But she really meant what she said because she had been brainwashed for 20 years. And That’s VERY disturbing to me!
Yeah but Wright meant GDA in the good way, Puleeze let the rapture begin.
If you make the trip, the NPC Food Court has a great deal on burritos every Monday. That makes it worth the trip for me.
The more JW runs his mouth the more money he will get. I promise.
thanks rooster and I wish I could be there for the protest.
GSP
The members of the NPC share Reverend Wright’s views about America. To the people who attend the PC lectures by guys like Wright, Wright is not controversial. On CNN, David Gergen said that Wright “loves America more” than conservatives. Another CNN commentator, the far left Roland Martin said that Wright was correct to say what he did about America and 9/11.
The guys who will attend the Wright speech think that Wright is reasonable and moderate. Plus, these guys are all so PC that they have a condescending view of African-Americans in public life and believe that any critcism of an African-American in public life (with the exception of Clarence Thomas) is racist and they won’t do it.
Enter the 500 pound gorilla! (No pun intended.)
This “social construct” called “RACISM” will never be really be “solved,” until we as a nation can accept the fact that African-Americans posess lower IQs than Americans of other backgrounds.
We trip over ourselves to compliment blacks at sports, easily concluding that they’re “better at basketball” than the rest of us. Because of the results that we see.
But when the results that we see favor whites, like in….sales, or marketing, or in police work, or in firefighting, management, driving, consulting, planning, communications, hockey, swimming, engineering, the sciences and other areas, we must look at those results differently!
We must use another standard!
We must BLAME THE WHITES FOR DISCRIMINATION!
Are there no fields that whites excell in as well as blacks do in basketball? We’ll never know.
Ocham’s Razor states that the simplest explaination is usually the correct one. On the subject of “RACISM” there are two possible explanations:
1. Blacks as a racial group score lower than other
racial groups on standardized tests, an as a
result of this lower intelligence, they end-up
on lower-steps on our economic ladder.
2. Blacks posess a “special and unmeasureable
type” of intelligence. Tests that measure
cognative ability in other races “don’t work”
with blacks. And, a secret, and UNCONSCIOUS
pact exists with all non-blacks, to “keep
blacks down.”
These are our choices. To belive in “RACISM,” without a SUBJECTIVE definition, is to agree with Reverend Wright! The concept itself is anti-white!
I watched the clip last evening. Honestly, I thought Moyers was gonna’ burst into tears and give old Jer a sloppy tongue kiss right on the spot! He is SO in the tank for the Left. If Bill feels so bad about everything, why doesn’t he just go home, put his head in the oven and turn the gas on. Please Bill, put yourself out of our misery!
Based on previews of the Moyers interview, Wright has already stabbed Obama in the back far worse than Hillary or McCain can do by stating that Obama’s remark’s on race and his church are those of a politician. You can’t make this stuff up.
So, Rusty; are you going to show up to sing, or eat burritos?
Did anyone see the interview with MR. Wright on Thursday 4/24??? If this is the treatment from MSM on MR. WRIGHT I see a NOBEL prize in the near future!!!!
I don’t have an issue with his “God DAMN America” sermon. I thought I would, but I watched a video of the entire sermon and that single phrase was isolated and presented to the world out of context. In context, his entire sermon was passionate and masterful and he spoke only of things that all of us hold dear. He’s not an evil or bad man or somebody who hates America. He’s somebody who loves God and he’s challenging Americans to live up to the standards that God expects of us.
Our incessant attacks on Wright from the Right are misguided and a waste. He’s a man of God - he’s not the enemy.
not familiar with the workings of the npc, but is it normal to have a speaking guest show up at 0800 or is this some 1/2-hearted attempt to blunt the media attention, etc. for the preacher o’ hate?
Well, I think I owe it to my coworkers to avoid eating beans at eight in the morning. So maybe I’ll make a couple of trips. It’s only a few blocks from my office.
By the way, you know what’s more offensive than “God damn America”? Feeler’s comment, #31. That was all sorts of crazy. Since everyone is so quick to ask Senator Obama to distance himself from Reverend Wright, perhaps we should do the same with “Feeler.”
“He’s not an evil or bad man or somebody who hates America”
oooookaaaaay — how much is b.o. paying you to defend rev. wrong?
Oh, he’s a man of ‘god’ alright. The god of this world. Wright is one of the enemies for sure.
Ooo, ooo, I get in to town at 5:30! I wonder if I can make it. The burritos sound good to!
Eh, they’re ok. If you’re visiting the city for the first time, you’d be better served getting a half smoke from Ben’s Chili Bowl (or any street vendor) or a jumbo slice at Adams Morgan.
A quick side note:
I just noticed that Bill Moyer’s July 27, 2002 DUI arrest in Arlington, VT is not listed in his Wikipedia entry, while a DUI arrest for President Bush and a DWI arrest for Sidney Blumenthal are found in their respective entries.
Are there any Wikipedia buffs here who can correct this oversight?
The official citation is a August 2, 2002 story in the “Bennington Banner” written by staff writer John LeMay, entitled National journalist charged with DUI: PBS newsman Bill Moyers cited in Arlington
I also notice that Clinton hire Dee Dee Myers’ Wikipedia entry fails to mention her DWI arrest as well.
The proper citation for Dee Dee’s arrest is a June 28, 1995 NYT article, entitled Former Clinton Spokeswoman Arrested.
Oops, bad link. Dee Dee Myers’ DUI arrest is in a June 28, 1995 NYT article entitled Former Clinton Spokeswoman Arrested.
Dang it , you beat me to it .
Hey #36, you have left me speechless, and that is hard to do. Can’t think of how to say what I feel about your post. You have the right to feel that way but I have the right to think NO ONE should preach hate from the pulpit. If he wants to damn someone, let him damn our enemies who want to harm us. I say, GOD BLESS AMERICA AND LONG MAY SHE STAND LIVE.
David Segal #36:
If Jeremiah Wright were tending to God’s business as he claims, he wouldn’t have time to spew the rhetoric he has so eloquently ranted about in his sermons.
I don’t believe it’s his spiritual calling to blame America for every ill he feels his race has encountered using unsubstantiated claims to events such as the spread of aids or 911. Maybe he should place the spread of Aids where it belongs - on the individuals who practice perverted, unprotected, sexual acts with members of the same sex and other sinful acts that propogates the spread of the virus.
Yes, there are liberal bastions of sin in this country. As Ruth Graham told Billy Graham:
He should be seeking forgiveness for this country and seeking God’s blessing rather than rabble rousing at a political lovefest called a church service at Trinity United Church of Christ.
He should go to Africa and live. I’m sure he would find it a land of opportunity where freedom rings. Not sure he could move his million dollar retirement home though.
Jeremiah Wright is a rascist bigot. His own words condemn him. You shall know them by their fruits.
Just an FYI on Rev.Wrong:
He’s retiring in Tinley Park, a suburb of Chicago, IL. As a retirement gift, Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ is building him a million-dollar home abutting Odyssey Country Club and Golf Course. Wright’s new home has 10,340 square feet of space, about four times the size of a typical suburban house. It includes four bedrooms, an elevator, an exercise room, and a four-car garage.
Race makeup in Tinley Park:
White Non-Hispanic (90.5%)
Hispanic (4.1%)
Black (1.9%)
Two or more races (1.3%)
Other race (1.1%)
Asian Indian (0.8%)
Filipino (0.7%)
He’s living the American Dream. Racebaiting his way to the top, using black victim-speak and white guilt to get there.
He has all that but he certainly has none of my respect. Pardon the French but I wouldn’t urinate on this guy if he were on fire.
#36 David Segal said:
You know, I was just about to throw down my “hate” towel and blindly join you in praise of Jeremiah Wright from the mountain top, when I suddenly remembered:
Aren’t you the same David Segal who accused MM of making up that drunken incident and those NYPD charges against Philadelphia talking head, Alycia Lane, back in December?
Taking your 12/17/07 insight regarding the Alycia Lane case into account, I’ll go with the opposite of what you just said about Jeremiah Wright, and continue to believe that the good Reverend is a hate-filled racist, hardly making him a “man of God.”
On April 25th, 2008 at 1:11 pm, iamsaved (#47) said:
Sshh, iamsaved, or you’ll wake the leftists here, and they will accuse you of taking Mr. Wright out of “context.”
After a weekend of the Right Rev. Wright doing interview junkets there’ll be blood in the water come Monday.
This breakfast may very well turn into a roast.
If this Wright fellow (I don’t call him Rev. and insult Christians) speaks, and is true to liberal form, he will insist that he was misinterpeted, taken out of context, then declare himself a “victim”. I won’t surprise me…or the Obama-loving part of the MSM portraying him that way.
If there’s one thing a racebaiter such as Wright hates, it’s being called a racebaiter.
Has anyone on here actually watched the entire sermon? Quick question do you believe that G-D blessed America for allowing slavery?
I’d actually say that we are very blessed.
And you know, it wasn’t just Blacks who were enslaved.
It’s so very telling when liberals like “freemind25″ continue to parse and spin and try desperately to make what Wright has said for years and years and years into innocent truths.
I’m listening to Alan Colmes trying to equate Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson with Wright. It’s pathetic.
Obama has claimed Wright as his PERSONAL SPIRITUAL MENTOR. He has sat through his viscious words and has honored Wright in his books.
There is no comparison.
“Has anyone on here actually watched the entire sermon?” No need to, when someone uses terms like U.S.KKK_of A. and what was said about 9/11 I usually move along realizing that I would be wasting time listening to that person.
“Quick question do you believe that G-D blessed America for allowing slavery?”
No I don’t, but I don’t think God damned America either. Otherwise he would not have blessed the USA in the 1860s.
See you are getting lost on tense. You used the past tense while Wright Rev. used the future. No,no,no God damn America is calling for a future damning for past sins.
That is where I part with Wright Rev and moonbats like you who can’t even spell G-D correctly. When I perceive a wrong or injustice I ask God to bless not damn.
Now run along, you need to purchase water, beans and duct tape. You need to prepare for a R landslide.
Oh and one more thing, freemind25. If we are guessing God’s blessings, lets reflect. Where is America and Africa, both participated in slavery, today?
I agree. There is no equivalence. Falwell and Robinson are much, much worse.
My beef with Wright is his AIDS rhetoric.
My beefs (beeves?) with Robertson and Falwell are legion. Especially Falwell. His lies about Bill Clinton, his unacceptable post 9/11 rhetoric, his desire to destroy the Constitution for his own ends, and his eagerness to associate himself with a cult leader who claims to be the Son of God. Yet every GOP politician with national aspirations lined up to him for his blessing. It was sad and pathetic.
