John McCain doesn’t want you to know this, but…
…the Reverend Jeremiah Wright is speaking tomorrow in Detroit, at the NAACP’s 53rd Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner in the Cobo Conference Center downtown. The evening’s theme? “A Change is Going to Come.”
Will we get mild, meek, victimized Reverend Wright reprising “Don’t Know Why They Treat Me So Bad“?
Or will this vast, sympathetic audience provoke his old radical stirrings? Will the chickens…come home to roost?
Either way, of course, mentioning that Obama’s spiritual adviserof twenty years is an America-damning radical is not helpful. John McCain and the New York Times told me so, so it must be true.
I’m not sure which networks are carrying it, but CNN is involved in the event:
This year we are also pleased to have a special participation by the news outlet CNN, as they share with our community a special documentary entitled, “Black in America.” Ms. Soledad O’Brien, along with other representatives of CNN will attend our dinner for a special presentation.
P.S. Is there really a blues song by that name? Google doesn’t seem to know one. It is a line in Tina Turner’s “Take Me To The River”, but the other google hits are conservative blogs talking about Wright.
(Oh, and here’s some useful perspective on the NCGOP ad from XRLQ, including a look at the timing of this particular ad targeted at both Democrats in North Carolina.)
UPDATE: I wonder if Detroit’s Democratic Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, will attend the event? He’s a big fan of Wright, but he’s kind of busy with problems of his own these days.
(Thanks to commenter Dave Turson for that first link–I was just reading that second story about Text-gate when I saw his comment.)

How bout “Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen”?
I am so there. As we all should be (that means you too, Mr. McCain), because we don’t want to miss any context ever again.
The fried chickens will come home to roost, with gravy and mashed potatoes. Yum!
Jeremiah Wright reminds me of the song, Charlie Brown - “Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me”.
Might I add:
“Why You Treat Me So Bad” by Shaggy
“Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?” By Prince
“Why Don’t You Love Me?” By Red Hot Chili Peppers
Even if
WrightWrong takes his Ritalin dose and remains calm at this event 100 to 1 says he will go ballistic again sometime before November. Multiple times seem likely.McCain the Republicrat is the one who is not helpful. He actually abets the race baiters who cry “racist” whenever BHO’s negative traits are pointed out. I hope the NCGOP sticks to their guns on this one.
It brought to my mind the Talking Heads lyric from “Take me to the River” — “I don’t know why … you treat me so bad”. There’s a bit of a bluesy feel to it.
I hope CNN airs the Rev. live…then they can’t edit what he says “out of context”.
Rev Wright visits war torn Detroit in attempt to woo white voters.
See-dubya,
Knowing the commanders mission statement for Operation Chaos, this is excellent execution of the commanders covert phase of the operational order. Kudos to the NC GOP for mainting strict military discipline while conducting covert ops in this phase of the plan.
Does Scooby Doo have anything like that?
Anyway, I know Take Me To The River from The Talking Heads but it’s really an Al Green song.
“Black in America”? Nah, this isn’t racist now is it…CNN sure does love marketing stories about race.
I love your blog, but the nyah-nyah-ish tone of this is so jejune. Wright has some serious issues and I think McCain is right in what he’s doing.
How many times do we have to lose taking this path before we learn it doesn’t sell? As an NC republican, I vote this way because the dems are so lousy, not because the NC GOP has it all figured out. The NC GOP fits so many of the Republican country-club good-ole-boy stereotypes I remember as a child. They do themselves no favors.
I suspect Wright will use the occasion on televised coverage to appear as if he knew all along that the evil media would turn on him. After all, isn’t that what a media controlled by the “jews” does? Look for more racism hidden, or not so hidden, in his declarations.
He will declare shock at how innocent words spoken by a man of the cloth can be twisted by evil racists trying again to commit techno-lynching in this day and time.
He will point out how it was “he” who has pulled the curtain back on America’s racism.
When lying is your living, it is easy to point outward and proclaim it is they who are guilty of what you, yourself, did.
It is simply a basic, street level, blame the other guy, nothing new to see here mentality.
Pick your other talking points on current and not so current socialist talking points, and he will probably sprinkle a few of them in there as well.
His speech will be as predictable as the sun rising tomorrow.
Or is that the Rooster Crowing…….
I’ll wait for the highlight reel at YouTube. Although I hope a reporter does ask Juan about Wright’s speech. The body language experts will have a good time with that.
figgles–
I think all State Republican Parties are a little country-clubby. Those are the folks who write the checks.
Aside from that, I’m kind of confused by your argument. Wright has issues, and you vote GOP not because the R’s are great, but because you don’t like the Democrats. What’s wrong with pointing out the extremism of their nominees?
“As an NC republican”, is a dead give-away to another feckless liberal Obama sycophant.
An accidental keystroke knocked me off an earlier thread and paranoia set in while trying to get a new password.
We voted yesterday in our NC county’s early voting option. The Republican presidential candidates were Huckabee, Keyes, McCain, Paul and No Preference. (Could not “write in” on the computer.) We voted No Preference.
Later I caught Moyer/Wright while channel surfing. Unbelievable! Yuck!
I read XRLQ and doubt there was a timing issue except the Democrats have had too much power for too long and that ad will be used by them for their purposes ad nauseum.
God BLESS America, Semper Fi and thanks to MM, CW and all who share their thoughts.
Well, this Wright fellow is now a national celebrity. He’s loving every minute of it,and counting the money coming in. I wonder how soon it will be before he runs for some office? I would be interested in seeing what he has say, whether Obama told him to tone it down, or let him ride.
I CAN NOT believe how racially divided this country has become because of Obama and his pastor.
You have all these maniac “Reverends” spewing hatred, Whoopi and friends sounding off with racists remarks, it’s been a free for all that I am totally sick of. I have been around awhile and was a child during the days of MLK and truely feel for those who went through segregation issues. But man, let it go!! That woman on “The View” saying she wants a President to look like her was a joke and Elizabeth wasn’t strong enough to give a good answer.
You would think that the black people were still persecuted the way some sound and it’s all stirring racism like I’ve never seen.
I’m sorry but I think the Holocaust was worse and I don’t hear Jewish people whining.
This has to stop!! Obama came in saying he wanted to unite this country but has divided it more than ever. His militant looking wife(sorry, but I am very upset) has not helped. I do believe Obama feels like his Pastor, his wife and his affiliates who happen to be anti-Americans.
Why are we giving this Wright guy the time of day? He loves the attention.
But yeah, sound off some more, there will be race riots real soon at this rate.
Conservatives R Us said:
Seriously. Can you imagine if a white person had responded to her with: “I agree, I want a president that looks like me, which is I won’t be voting for Obama.”
One would be racist, and the other wouldn’t. In fact, both are racist, but there ya go.
The organizers claim they don’t know what Wright will say:
Mayor Kilpatrick, like Rev. Anthony, is thrilled about Wright’s visit. Kilpatrick said Wright is “one of the greatest orators to walk the Earth.”
I live in Detroit. I’ll venture that Kilpatrick’s obnoxious thumb-in-your-eye views are shared by less than 20 percent of black Detroiters. He was re-elected with 53 percent of the vote in 2004, but many have left his side since the text-messaging scandal.
Here’s one Detroit pastor calling for Kilpatrick to pay for his antics.
Julie London’s Cry Me A River would be ok if Wright had the least bit of compassion for anything other than his own self-aggrandizment and black supremacy.
It ain’t PC to say it but this constant verbal barrage by blacks about how they are kept down by the honkies is getting more than a little old. So many double standards. IMHO I look at all the black is beautiful, ms. black america, black entertainment channel, black power, ebonics in education in some places, the made-up holiday of Kwanzaa as an indication that some blacks buy into the Sharpton/Jackson black-as-victim mentality and need all that black pride mumbo jumbo to hide their own inadequacies. If we are really having a national dialogue why can’t people remark on just how widespread blacks are highlighted in stories- people who have the world by the cajones and nevertheless have a gangbanger or criminal mentality. All those millions they “earned” sure seem a waste to me. You can buy class or intelligence. Wright, Ayers, Dorhn, Hurricane Louie Farrakhan, Maxine Waters, the Obamas, Olbermann, Pelosi, Reid etc. ad nauseum should all be vilified. Yeah, I know they’re not all black. I hope Hillary with all her flaws somehow triumphs over the Messiah. Even though that means idiot Billy Boy in the limelight again. He would make a fine member of SCOTUS down the line, no?
So long ago, they offered the Wright DVDs with pride. what happened? Someone actually listened to the DVDs that’s what.
The victim-hood play has run it’s last election.
Addendum to 17: Moyer asked Wright how he felt about Obama trying to distance himself from him. Paraphrased: Wright said “I say what I do as a Pastor, but Obama says what he says as a politician.”
Guess it didn’t hurt his feelings a bit – we all know how those politicians lie.
how nice of CNN, the Chicken News Network, to send a rep and a crock-u-mentary to add to the bigoted drivel that will be spewed at that dinner.
maybe KFC will sponsor the event if the chickens that come home to roost are finger lickin’
CNN and “rev” Wrong—birds of a feather flock together
Just another attempt to stir the racial pot.
If whites met with the KKK spiritual advisor, how would THEY feel about that?
We could ask Senator Robert Byrd.
How about Travis Tritt’s,”Here’s a Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares
?”
I really hate that A*hole John McCain. I sure hope that Obama is the next president.
Omama 08!!!
Well for some reason trackbacks are not working for me so:
Anyone else having trouble with tracbacks? I’m using Blogger. If you what I might be doing wrong let me know would you?
Thanks

you do realize that see-dub made up that 1st sentence. JSM has made no comment one way or another about rev. wrong’s speech tomorrow.
/but glad to get another mds sufferer out in the open at least …
… just trying to fit in here with all the other conservatives who hate John McCain and won’t vote for him, Buckaroo.
Because that’s whats we’re going to get, a President Obama when we shun John McCain like all the good conservatives here seem to be on track to do this november.
Dude — that’s what i’ve been saying for the past 1/2 week!
i’m very sorry i did not get your sarcasm — sadly, it did not look out of place here AT ALL!
This (here and over at HotAir) has gotten me so ****ing frustrated. I seriously can’t understand some people’s logic when it comes to this.
I didn’t want McCain and I didn’t vote for him in my state, but he already got the momentum and the votes and my vote was meaningless. I really hate the nominating process.
That being said, I need to mention that right now, the democrats (especially the leadership) despise that the competition between Hillary and Obama is tarnishing the dems, and the bloody battle is weakening them all. (good for republicans, so I love it.)
So, right now, Romney, Huckabee or no one else is tarnishing McCain. The only other group who is pounding McCain is conservatives.
This serves no purpose other than to benefit the democrats.
Even though McCain is no Republican and I won’t vote for this liberal!!(TM) – I would appreciate it if more people would observe Reagan’s 11th commandment.
amen, braddah …
/let us hope such thoughts become the rule rather than the exception here …
Here’s a saying my old man said they used to use during WWII “When in doubt, win the war”
I don’t like McCain all that much but better him in the whitehouse than ANY democrat!
So, will Juan McCain and Juan Hernandez be there also? —- You know, for support
Buckaroo said:
You jumped the gun on mds, and couldn’t spot an obvious troll. Guess that explains why you support McCain.
i posted based upon what i read, chump …
Buckaroo said:
I read the same post you did, except my suspicions turned out to be correct. But then again, I don’t have mmds.
Anyone else get the irony of Buckaroo calling me a “chump”?
i do not have mmds, CHUMP, i am simply saddened at the irrational whining from an otherwise stalwart voice on the right side of the ’sphere …
Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on 4/18/08:
Wow, that city must be one gigantic poop-show.
I can’t abide going to the far left fever swamps. I assume that they only have high praise for obamation and his hateful, racist pastor. And I haven’t seen any of the views of olberdork or horny for obama matthews and the rest of that clueless media crowd.
What the hell is the reason that people are just mesmerized by Barry Hussein. I just saw law professor Ann Althouse state that if she were not being cruelly neutral she might rate Obama #1 choice between three imperfect choices. I think all 3 suck, but god forbid that BHO ever be our leader. That stupid broad can’t see that the dude is totally unqualified, a marxist, a lying sack of spit? Please tell me what I’m missing? People don’t see that he’s a phony or is it I am just a typical ignorant white male racist obsessed with gun and religion?
People will actually go into the voting booth and ignore what Obama is? White racial guilt demands he be chosen and blacks have to vote for him from black pride? I think we are well and truly screwed. Big time.
I sincerely hope not, gollumclone. I have a sinking feeling that the next four years are going to be extremely distasteful, no matter who wins.
I can not wait to see what he says and does in Detroit
GaMidnightRider said:
Why wait? Go see the thread about The Reinvention of Jeremiah Wright – I posted some more quotes from his sermons.
It’d be great — and a winning change — if more people would confront this ongoing confusion once and for all, and stop allowing this same confusion to reappear in elections (Presidential, Senatorial, etc.) time and time again, ever since “The Time of Reagan.”
I hear — over and over again, as recently as moments ago on FOX Sunday by a panel discussing McCain, the N.C. ad, “the far right” (term this FOX panel used to replace “the Right” because it suits the Liberalisation of the GOP well to do so — and I disagree with that charlatanry) — that McCain is “running to appeal to the Reagan Democrats and he’s upsetting Conservatives/’the Far Right’”.
First off, Reagan ran and won and was President and now he’s not. He had a Presidency, he authored a body of popular opinion and now he’s gone. What he opined worked for Reagan, it worked for his time, the time’s over.
And, the majority who regarded Reagan well and who voted for him (both terms) AND who have continued to champion Reagan’s concepts and opinions, those people were not Liberals. They were Conservatives. Many of them, also, were never Democrats, not even when Reagan was a Democrat.
And, the Democrats, throughout Reagan’s two terms (and afterward), reviled Reagan, as did Liberals everywhere. Reagan represented to them such a distasteful form of politic that some even tried to claim he was “the antichrist”. That’s indicative of not only mild disagreements but of extreme, substantial dislike on not only a political level but on an intuitive one.
So, alleging one is “a Reagan Democrat” is nonsensical. McCain appeals and continues to be sold as appealing to LIBERALS and so-called MODERATES. That means, he’s making a sales pitch for Liberal votes and what he’s selling is Liberalism, a Liberal politic.
And trying to make that, somehow, associated with Reagan is nonsense as it is also utter deceit. Reagan wasn’t a Liberal and most of his most popular (among Republicans, among Conservatives) opinions were in confronting what he deemed nonsense of Liberalism.
Which is NOT what McCain is doing, nor never has. McCain has made his career out of denigrating a whole lot of what Reagan pursued and preferred IN THE APPLICATION OF GOVERNMENT, and yet today continues to use Reagan’s name and refer to Reagan as if McCain is Reagan Part Three (he is most certainly not that).
Reagan said the Democratic Party left him, and it did so because Reagan was a Conservative-to-Moderate and the Demo. Party no longer represented him nor that segment of positions (I agree with him, did then, do now). McCain, on the other hand, is using the twist or switch-side of that: he’s campaigning as a Democrat, for Democrats/Liberals, on the basis that the Republican Party (as defined as being Conservative versus the Liberal Democrats), as it’s represented by Conservatives, has “left him” and therefore, he gets to rationalize why his Liberal denigrations from Liberal perspectives are appropriate, especially as to “Conservatives.”
Get the Reagan legacy straight. Go back and reread his best speeches, remarks, his positions and claims and then re-examine more closely just what McCain’s politics are and what he represents.
So, denigrating Republicans for not being accepting of McCain is a Democratic tactic, the Democratic tactic of the times of Democrats during Reagan. The Democrats used that same tactic to denigrate Reagan, is my point. And it’s the same tactic being used today by the McCain-fringe of the shredding Republican Party.
The RNC has never been Liberal. It’s been socially tolerant but never Liberal. McCain is a Liberal in just about every aspect of how he perceives the use of government and a higher degree than is tolerable of subjugation of citizens (”accept it or shut up” and that leaves open an ever-infringing, imposing use of federal government by a certain set of operatives for purposes that even when citizens disagree, can do little about it without being ridiculed).
I do not want nor seek a Democratic Presidency nor Congressional majority. However, today, that includes not seeking allowing ever increasing numbers of people who are Democrats/Liberals by character and methods to use the term, “Republican,” just to waste our time and money and patience (AND security). If people can’t vote for a person out of personal integrity concerns, then that’s commendable in my view for any citizen to do. I just cannot see any longer following this “vote for me to avoid the other party winning” method because we end up with nothing when the votes are counted but a betrayal of confidence.
Or, should I say, a betrayal by Confidence Men.
Well said Bird; And BTW, go to hell Wise Man,you to Buckaroo.

“I just cannot see any longer following this “vote for me to avoid the other party winning” method”
then be fully prepared for the other party to win, up AND down the ticket, moron …
# 48
hey, right back atcha asshat …
#47, well said. My first opportunity to vote in a Presidential election was in 1984, and I proudly voted for Reagan. (I also cried my eyes out that day in June 2004 when he was laid to rest.) I remember the vicious and of course hypocritical attacks on Reagan throughout his presidency, including those from the Hollywood elite who lamely tried to bash him for being a “stupid actor”–height (depth) of irony.
Yet, I must ask, perhaps naively, why must we allow ourselves to be stuck with these 3 losers? Have we abandoned all hope that we, the 330 million+ plus citizenry, can produce and elect a true leader with America’s best interests at heart to the position of POTUS? I’m willing to join the next revolution, if that’s what it takes to make a change from our lethargy and apathy as a nation. I’m encouraged by reading Michelle’s blog and others like it that there is a groundswell of conservatism and patriotism still very much alive in this country, but what will it take for it to burst onto the national stage?
Well said, MtsEdge #51! I have asked myself often “this is the best this country has to offer – Larry, Moe, and Curley?” I’m with you in joining a new conservative revolution to combat the ingrained apathy of voters. It’s a great country – let’s not lose it–vote Republican and work at getting term limits instilled by law at the groundroots level.
