Well said, MtsEdge #51! I have asked myself often "this is the best this country has to offer - Larry, Moe, and Curley?" I'm with you in joining a new conservative revolution to combat the ingrained apathy of voters. It's a great country - let's not lose it--vote Republican and work at getting term limits instilled by law at the groundroots level.

#47, well said. My first opportunity to vote in a Presidential election was in 1984, and I proudly voted for Reagan. (I also cried my eyes out that day in June 2004 when he was laid to rest.) I remember the vicious and of course hypocritical attacks on Reagan throughout his presidency, including those from the Hollywood elite who lamely tried to bash him for being a "stupid actor"--height (depth) of irony.

Yet, I must ask, perhaps naively, why must we allow ourselves to be stuck with these 3 losers? Have we abandoned all hope that we, the 330 million+ plus citizenry, can produce and elect a true leader with America's best interests at heart to the position of POTUS? I'm willing to join the next revolution, if that's what it takes to make a change from our lethargy and apathy as a nation. I'm encouraged by reading Michelle's blog and others like it that there is a groundswell of conservatism and patriotism still very much alive in this country, but what will it take for it to burst onto the national stage?

It'd be great -- and a winning change -- if more people would confront this ongoing confusion once and for all, and stop allowing this same confusion to reappear in elections (Presidential, Senatorial, etc.) time and time again, ever since "The Time of Reagan."

I hear -- over and over again, as recently as moments ago on FOX Sunday by a panel discussing McCain, the N.C. ad, "the far right" (term this FOX panel used to replace "the Right" because it suits the Liberalisation of the GOP well to do so -- and I disagree with that charlatanry) -- that McCain is "running to appeal to the Reagan Democrats and he's upsetting Conservatives/'the Far Right'".

First off, Reagan ran and won and was President and now he's not. He had a Presidency, he authored a body of popular opinion and now he's gone. What he opined worked for Reagan, it worked for his time, the time's over.

And, the majority who regarded Reagan well and who voted for him (both terms) AND who have continued to champion Reagan's concepts and opinions, those people were not Liberals. They were Conservatives. Many of them, also, were never Democrats, not even when Reagan was a Democrat.

And, the Democrats, throughout Reagan's two terms (and afterward), reviled Reagan, as did Liberals everywhere. Reagan represented to them such a distasteful form of politic that some even tried to claim he was "the antichrist". That's indicative of not only mild disagreements but of extreme, substantial dislike on not only a political level but on an intuitive one.

So, alleging one is "a Reagan Democrat" is nonsensical. McCain appeals and continues to be sold as appealing to LIBERALS and so-called MODERATES. That means, he's making a sales pitch for Liberal votes and what he's selling is Liberalism, a Liberal politic.

And trying to make that, somehow, associated with Reagan is nonsense as it is also utter deceit. Reagan wasn't a Liberal and most of his most popular (among Republicans, among Conservatives) opinions were in confronting what he deemed nonsense of Liberalism.

Which is NOT what McCain is doing, nor never has. McCain has made his career out of denigrating a whole lot of what Reagan pursued and preferred IN THE APPLICATION OF GOVERNMENT, and yet today continues to use Reagan's name and refer to Reagan as if McCain is Reagan Part Three (he is most certainly not that).

Reagan said the Democratic Party left him, and it did so because Reagan was a Conservative-to-Moderate and the Demo. Party no longer represented him nor that segment of positions (I agree with him, did then, do now). McCain, on the other hand, is using the twist or switch-side of that: he's campaigning as a Democrat, for Democrats/Liberals, on the basis that the Republican Party (as defined as being Conservative versus the Liberal Democrats), as it's represented by Conservatives, has "left him" and therefore, he gets to rationalize why his Liberal denigrations from Liberal perspectives are appropriate, especially as to "Conservatives."

Get the Reagan legacy straight. Go back and reread his best speeches, remarks, his positions and claims and then re-examine more closely just what McCain's politics are and what he represents.

So, denigrating Republicans for not being accepting of McCain is a Democratic tactic, the Democratic tactic of the times of Democrats during Reagan. The Democrats used that same tactic to denigrate Reagan, is my point. And it's the same tactic being used today by the McCain-fringe of the shredding Republican Party.

The RNC has never been Liberal. It's been socially tolerant but never Liberal. McCain is a Liberal in just about every aspect of how he perceives the use of government and a higher degree than is tolerable of subjugation of citizens ("accept it or shut up" and that leaves open an ever-infringing, imposing use of federal government by a certain set of operatives for purposes that even when citizens disagree, can do little about it without being ridiculed).

I do not want nor seek a Democratic Presidency nor Congressional majority. However, today, that includes not seeking allowing ever increasing numbers of people who are Democrats/Liberals by character and methods to use the term, "Republican," just to waste our time and money and patience (AND security). If people can't vote for a person out of personal integrity concerns, then that's commendable in my view for any citizen to do. I just cannot see any longer following this "vote for me to avoid the other party winning" method because we end up with nothing when the votes are counted but a betrayal of confidence.

Or, should I say, a betrayal by Confidence Men.

<blockquote>People will actually go into the voting booth and ignore what Obama is? White racial guilt demands he be chosen and blacks have to vote for him from black pride? I think we are well and truly screwed. Big time.</blockquote>

I sincerely hope not, <strong>gollumclone.</strong> I have a sinking feeling that the next four years are going to be extremely distasteful, no matter who wins.

I can't abide going to the far left fever swamps. I assume that they only have high praise for obamation and his hateful, racist pastor. And I haven't seen any of the views of olberdork or horny for obama matthews and the rest of that clueless media crowd.

What the hell is the reason that people are just mesmerized by Barry Hussein. I just saw law professor Ann Althouse state that if she were not being cruelly neutral she might rate Obama #1 choice between three imperfect choices. I think all 3 suck, but god forbid that BHO ever be our leader. That stupid broad can't see that the dude is totally unqualified, a marxist, a lying sack of spit? Please tell me what I'm missing? People don't see that he's a phony or is it I am just a typical ignorant white male racist obsessed with gun and religion?

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on 4/18/08:
<blockquote>"It's the same thing with Jeremiah Wright. I've been to his church, and he's one of the greatest orators to walk the Earth."</blockquote>
