Jeremiah Wright: “Hottest brother in America,” campaign manager for Jesus, CNN cheerleader, and black/white band critic
What a weekend it was for Jeremiah “AmeriKKKa” Wright.
The jet-setting race-monger has now been proclaimed “hottest brother in America.” Today he fulfilled his self-appointed roles as campaign manager for Jesus, CNN cheerleader, and black/white band critic.
In Dallas, he lamented his “public crucixion” before an audience of 4,000 supporters at Friendship-West Baptist Church.
In Detroit tonight at the NAACP’s Church of the Racial Hustle, Wright patted himself on the back for his “descriptive” powers of an America that he believes deserved 9/11. It’s not “divisive,” you see, to shout “God damn America” with your veins popping at the pulpit. That’s just “descriptive.” And anyone who says otherwise is a God-damned racist!
Wright singled out CNN’s Roland Martin and Soledad O’Brien in his speech. You can read one of Martin’s slavering blog posts here. He’s been on CNN non-stop in full multi-culti regalia extolling Wright’s speech with Soledad at his side nodding incessantly. A self-respecting network news organization would be cringing at their news anchors’ genuflection to Wright.
But those chickens will come home to roost soon enough.
A taste of Wright’s peacock-strutting remarks:
“Just my appearance in Detroit will be polarizing,” he said. “I’m not here for political reasons. I’m not a politician. Many of corporate owned media have made it seem that I’m running for the Oval Office. I’ve been running for Jesus for a long, long time.
“I’m sorry your local political analysts are polarizing and sermons divisive. I’m not here to address an analyst’s opinion. I stand here as one representative of African-American church tradition, believing that a change is going to come.”
Wright, who is retiring as pastor of the 6,000-member Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, followed the dinner’s theme of “A Change is Gonna Come,” giving a humorous mini-lecture about the difference in style and linguistics between African Americans and whites.
“A change is coming because we no longer see others as being deficient,” he said.
The crowd cheered when he acted out the differences between white marching bands and black ones.
“One is not abnormal and one normal – it’s just different,” he said, explaining the difference between black and white church traditions.
“I come from a tradition, where we give God the glory, and we give the devil the blues,” he said.
Amid the humor, however, he took a moment to respond to Republican Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, who called Wright “divisive” during an April 18 forum attended by the leaders of Detroit and Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties.
Referring to Patterson only by his title, not by name, Wright said, “I am not one of the most divisive. Tell him the word is descriptive.”
Barack Obama sends his regrets:
[US Rep. John] Conyers told the NAACP audience that he had talked to Illinois Sen. Barack Obama earlier about the Detroit dinner. “He wanted to come so badly.”
I’m sure he did.
Maybe Obama will be able to catch Wright’s next command performance in Washington tomorrow at the National Press Club.

I’m sitting here watching CNN’s coverage of Jeremiah Wright’s speech at the Detroit NAACP convention and am struck by what’s being attempted here.
Defenders are quick to jump on his critics, basing that defense on the notion that snippets of his many words spoken (or written) over the years are being used to twist who he really is.
And so what are they now attempting?
The. Very. Same. Thing.
They take snippets of words spoken most recently (today on CNN, the other day on PBS), words shaped by the knowledge that every syllable will be dissected and reviewed, words influenced by that knowledge, words purposed in taking advantage of that knowledge and they attempt to tell us that these words, and not those used by his critics, define the man.
Snippets that critique are wrong. Snippets that defend are right.
We’re watching the rehabilitation, the reconstruction, the rebuilding, the remaking of a man… from bigoted hate-monger to enlightened social critic.
Old Media will defend despite his many words over the years because Old Media and Jeremiah Wright are ideologically entwined and connected.
It’ll be up to New Media to counter that defense.

The Real Jeremiah Wright
I had a busy weekend, and missed it when Hugh Hewitt posted extensive transcripts of the sermons of Jeremiah Wright on Friday evening. The transcripts are devastating to Wright. He is a despicable human being, and the fact that has been ordained, apparently, is a disgrace. Wright has been claiming that he was quoted out of context, and Barack Obama has suggested that Americans would view Wright differently if they heard his whole sermons instead of a few sound bites. In fact, the context makes it worse, and the whole sermons are outrageous. It turns out that “God damn America” understates the baroque hatefulness of Wright’s theology.
Still unexplained is what Wright’s political screeds have to do with Christianity. I don’t know anyone who would sit still for a minister who persistently abused the pulpit to preach hate instead of the Gospel. As a Christian, I am outraged that “Reverend” Wright has hijacked my faith to preach hate and to sow falsehood. How Barack Obama could have participated in this charade for twenty years, and then held himself out as someone fit to lead this nation, is inexplicable.

I watched part of the Detroit NAACP speach by Wright on Fox News tonight. What I saw was a man that is eager to cash in on his 15 minutes of fame and sell more books.
Wright defended Obama, excoriating those who use Obama’s full name. Wright chastised those individuals, mockingly noting that Arabic [as in Barak Hussein] was a language, not a religion.
Perhaps some may want to clue Wright in on a little geography – “Africa” is a continent, not a race. Africans come in all colors. Wright seems to have a problem understanding that. As to religion, Christianity is a religion. But “Black Christianity” is not.
Hugh Hewitt has published more than “sound bites” of Wright. Unfortunately for wright, the “context” he claims would give different meaning to the sound bites only serves to show his comments in a more inflammatory light.
What struck me as most reprehensible was the way Wright uses the bible as support for his racist and hate filled messages. Using the word of God to endorse the antithesis of scripture is a vile trick of those lacking any measure of human decency or spiritual grace. And in his preaching, he is leading people away, and not toward, the salvation he claims to represent. Wright may be preparing souls for their journey to the other side, but his true disciples are likely to find the reception a little “warmer” than they envisioned.
Pseudo-science alert. Left and right brains? Oh my gosh. Please no. Whites keep time on the “on” beat, blacks on the “off” beat? I recall John McVie of Fleetwood Mac playing for the 1992 Clinton inaugural, saying how surreal it all was, with Al Gore clapping on the “on” beat. Yes Gore is white, so is John McVie. My brother is one of the most accomplished jazz musicians in Chicago. Yes he’s white, and can certainly appreciate both keeping time on the “on” beat and the “off” beat. He can transcend his race! He can, contrary to what Whoopi says, “take off his white goggles”.
Differences between blacks and whites? Real? Imagined? Cultural? Genetic? Let’s cut the bulls***, Rev. Wright. What are you talking about? Spell it out. If you’re a racist, just say so. I won’t hold it against you, though some may. But I’d just like to know wtf you are saying.
I’m so disgusted that this reverend flies his flag as being a Christian. I don’t know his soul exactly, but that’s not the way Christianity is supposed to be.
Apparently he hasn’t read the part about in Christ, there is no Jew, there is no Gentile, no slave, no freeman, that we are all equal in the eyes of God. Of course it’s in the back so it’s just too hard to read that part.
Or he’s gotten to the part about the plagues visited on Egypt by the God of Moses and thinks that’s where them Jews came up with the Arab/Black bomb.
Somebody should tell this guy speeches are supposed to be inspirational.

I got nauseous watching this, what’s next? Is David Duke going to get an MSNBC makeover? Your talking about a blatant racist and yet because he’s an African American and because he’s the pastor of Barack Obama’s church, he gets the entire CNN network to basically sugar coat and white wash everything he’s ever done.

The Obama campaign went out and found a PR firm to rehabilitate Wright. What we are witnessing is the PR plan being executed. It’s disgusting, but that is what it has come to. The problem, however, is that there is overwhelming evidence including Obama’s own words that cannot be surmounted.
I watched some of Reverend Wright this evening. As I was watching I realized how this guy is trying to have it both ways. He preached his “hate speech” in front of a congregation for 30 years, but now that its gotten attention he’s trying to pretend it wasn’t hate speech.
What made me so incredulous is, he’s probably going to get away with it. He’ll only put himself in front of friendly “bill moyers” interviewers, and he’s trying to ‘remake’ himself before our eyes, and nobody in the main stream will be allowed to challenge him. He’s better at ‘Politiking’ than Obama is!!
This guy, Sharpton, the Middle Eastern Mullahs and that Austrian from the first half of the last century: cut from the same cloth. Race Wraiths, the embodiments of evil.
Making everything about race. Whipping peoples emotions up into a frenzy, breeding hate and spewing out their venomous, torturous words against a supposed, imagined enemy.
Then standing back and watching the carnage from their villas while denying any connection to it because they “…can’t control what another person might do”, while at the same time knowing exactly what they will do, hoping for it and inciting them to do it. Not having the stones to do it themselves.
That’s got to be the epitome of using the Lord’s name in vain.

In the glorious liberal tradition, no culture is superior to another, just different. Bulls**t! The world’s greatest civilizations have included African, European, and Asian peoples, but there have been hundreds, if not thousands, of not-so-great, and often inferior, ones as well. The real world’s playground game is “king of the hill”, not “let’s avoid confrontational win-lose contests”

Yes Obama’s words will not escape the scrutiny of those of us on this blog..but understand just how trivial public office has become…we have women who are going to vote this fall for this guy…not because he is the best candidate, but because he fulfills their idea of the ultimate lover/husband and thus are unable to separate that aspect of Obama from what they should be looking for in a leader. Moreover we have moonbat liberal men(?) who look up to Obama as if he is the daddy they never had.
Chalk it up to those utterly worthless high school ASB offices like “class president” that students pick every year. These offices become their first and worst exposure to representative government.

He is as much an opportunist and as disengenuous as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

One comfort is that abusers of God such as Wright, Sharpton, even Islamic terrorists, will all have to pay for what they’ve done in the end, and pay they will, in the pits of hell. No glory, no virgins, just endless suffering.
Since the Bill Moyers interview, all I kept hearing from pundits was that Wright was on a sanitization tour… trying to make himself seem mainstream. Well, I guess Jeremiah has other plans. I saw a clip of his Dallas speech an the NBC affiliate in San Francisco and almost fell off my chair. Instead of running a flattering clip, the clip the station ran only made Wright look like the nasty, racist bigot that he truly is.
And this is the sort of people the US is now creating. a nearly 30 stone murderer suing the government because he lost weight in prison, and felt faint when he tried to exercise, complaining it was because he didn’t have enough to eat ..never mind that with that kind of weight, the blood pressure is most certainly going to make you feel faint if you push it. Some idiot judge will probably grant his case and this murderer will end up richer than most of us law-abiding tax payers. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? This guy is a heart attack waiting to happen, he should be thankful if he’s lost weight. Lawyers who take up cases like this should be fined at least $100,000 for wasting court time, and make it non-insurable or they’ll just keep doing it.

Jeremiah Wright is an education in Subculture. There is a big difference between Subculture Christianity and MainStream Christianity. MainStream preaches heavenly salvation and Subculture preaches salvation on earth. I’m watching Jeremiah’s change chant on Fox cable defined in a victimization/accusatory tone the many changes that are a coming, amen brother to his people. And it is to be delivered by their black Messiah. The problem here, those changes are things his people can not have the Messiah deliver but changes each individual must make in their own lives. So, Wright’s gospel is not Christianity but rather the cult of having what you will not do for yourself done for you. Does this not sound like the Katrina government failures and America is mean. And who is the government if not white bread.
I have a dream that one day these four bigots Wright, Sharpton, Farrakhan and Jackson will be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I’m not so much concerned over Wright having much influence over an inexperienced rookie President, as much as I would be concerned over the Pelosi/Reid/Schumer/Kennedy leadership that will dominate him and insist on their own policy plans. It’s happened before. “If you don’t dance to our tune….”

I caught part of his “speech” to the NAACP. It sounded more like semi-lunatic rambling, void of any real content as well as some jabs at his critics. Even worse was watching some CNN talking heads gushing over it afterwards. They found this impressive? Most 10 year old children have more coherent thoughts!
Wright is not a genuine minister of the word of Jesus Christ. His credentials were burned (in my view) when he made the “G**D***” the household word it has certainly become, while he stood in the pulpit.
It’s probably the only word in the language that actually offends ME!

I am watching Jeremiah Wright at the press conference. He is truly a slick but poisonous creature. Not a word so far about black violent crime, black drop-out rates in schools, black bastardy or the seething, crippling self-pity that so debilitates the black community. He is the black Goebbels. The chilling thing is the adoration he enjoys from the black community. No reason at all to suppose that race relations will do anything but tank with this propagandist in the spotlight.

So, after years, decades even, of being told by liberals that “there’s no difference between “black” or “white”, now, suddenly, lo and behold, there IS a difference because Rev. Jeremiah Wright says so. He’s the culmination of all of the bad ideas of liberals brought to fruition; a well-educated Christian racist nutcase! Any idiot can see there’s a difference between black “culture” and white “culture”. The question is, from which “culture” did the “Renaissance” emerge? Written language? The English language, which Rev. Wright so eloquently uses to propagate his racially-charged theories. So he preaches to a black (mainly) audience that their kids aren’t being properly educated in “white” schools? Is that his main point? Because that’s what it sounds like to me. Do blacks have no say in their children’s education in Illinois? Do they not hold positions in school boards? Do they not vote? Can they not work within the system to change how their children are educated? 40 years is a long time for racially-based educational theories to remain buried. If they were that ground-breaking, that exceptional, wouldn’t they have been adopted years ago?
Rev. Wright has discovered, as he retires from one pulpit, willing accomplices in liberal media outlets for his slandering of the “white educational system” which produced him. He can now see his way to a wider audience through making even more outrageous claims about the abuses that “white culture” has dumped upon poor blacks. Was all of his learning provided by divine inspiration, perhaps?

I do believe that Bill Cosby, comedic genius, pretty much said the same thing 5 or 8 years ago. Or Chris Rock too, for that matter. What bothers me the most is that Wright’s false presumption of authority comes from his position within the Church. Here the Emperor is, standing naked, and shouting that he’s a loon, and people are, in fact, applauding.
The problem hasn’t been that white culture and black culture are different, it’s that one culture has succeeded in building things, moving forward, and has established a free society where all can speak their peace, while the other has not.
I’ll leave all of you to figure out which is which and I DARE anyone to call ME a racist! I am merely being “descriptive”! Ha!
I’m not surprised that Roland Martin and Soledad O’Brien would slobber over Wright. Roland Martin is one of those left over apologists for OJ Simpson that CNN put on the air throughout and after the OJ Simpson verdict back in 1995. Martin is following in the footsteps of such guys as William Moffett, Leo Terrell etc. as perpetually angry African-American male.
Soledad O’Brien is just an airhead. Recall that CNN did an interview with Yasser Arafat after the 2002 Passover massacre in Netanya, Israel in which Wolf Blitzer practically slobbered over Arafat. I thought Arafat was a little bit embarrassed by Blitzer’s sycophancy.

The public education system we have is not the ‘white’ system. It is a creation of affirmative action. Districts have been told to raise the numbers of black teachers and administrators to certain percentages. We have been turning away better qualified white applicants, and hiring almost anyone with a black skin and some credential from a goofy little college. It has been the case for all of the nearly 40 years that I have taught. The smoldering pile of rubble that is the public school system is the full blooming of affirmative action.
