Liveblogging Wright at the National Press Club: The “black church” is under “attack;” “I am open to being vice president;” defends his AIDS conspiracy-theorizing, “God damns,” “Louis Farrakhan is not my enemy;” don’t be dissin’ my mama or my faith

Scroll down for liveblogging of Wright’s NPC rant (update: here is the full transcript, but you really had to see it to absorb the full, nasty experience). Is he working for the Hillary campaign? Is he angry at Barack Obama? Because he has got to know this is killing his spiritual protege’s campaign.
***
9:08am. He just got a massive standing ovation from the crowd, including many journalists sitting at the head table. The title of his address is “The African American Religious Experience; Theology & Practice.”
Wright asserts that the criticism leveled against his diatribes are an “attack on the black church.” Not an attack on “Jeremiah Wright, but an attack on the black church.”
Applause.
Got that? Challenging “God damn America” = attacking the black church.
He credits Obama for starting the “dialogue.” Obama’s wishing Wright would clam up right about now.
9:15am. Wright launches into a review of black liberation theology. “I do not in any way disagree with James Cone. Jim is a personal friend of mine.”
Kathy Shaidle summarizes Cone’s racist ideology:
The leading theorist of Black Liberation Theology is James Cone. Overtly racist, Cone’s writings posit a black Jesus who leads African-Americans as the “chosen people.” In Cone’s cosmology, whites are “the devil,” and “all white men are responsible for white oppression.” Cone makes this point without ambiguity: “This country was founded for whites and everything that has happened in it has emerged from the white perspective,” Cone has written. “What we need is the destruction of whiteness, which is the source of human misery in the world.”
If whiteness stands for all that is evil, blackness symbolizes all that is good. “Black theology,” says Cone, “refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.” Small wonder that some critics have condemned black liberation theology as “racist idolatry” and “Afro-Nazism.”
Furthermore, according to Cone, “black values” are superior to American values. Sure enough, the “About Us” statement on Trinity’s web page includes the following Cone-inspired declaration: “We are an African people, and remain ‘true to our native land,’ the mother continent, the cradle of civilization.”
It is troubling that Barack Obama’s closest friends and allies subscribe to an explicitly racist doctrine. Even more worrying is that the main exponent of Black Liberation Theology sees Obama as a kindred spirit. In the wake of the controversy surrounding Obama’s pastor and Church, Cone said: “I’ve read both of Barack Obama’s books, and I heard the speech [on race]. I don’t see anything in the books or in the speech that contradicts black liberation theology.”
9:19am Eastern. Wright repeats his “Different is not deficient” lines from last night’s NAACP banquet.
“Black preaching is not bombastic, it is not controversial, it is just different.”
Applause again.
Wright pauses to note that working journalists in the crowd clapped along with the rest of the audience.
9:23am Eastern. Wright’s church, he brags, stood with the peasants in El Salvador when the U.S. was killing them.
His voice is rising. His church feeds people while our government fights an unjust war.
He excoriates people in government who have “abused their privileges to avoid military service…”
Standing ovation
“…while sending 4,000 American boys and girls of every race to die over a lie.”
He mentions his church caring for blacks with AIDS…but refrains from peddling his AIDS conspiracy theories.
Code. He doesn’t need to say it. They already know what he means.
No left-brain, right-brain diagnoses yet.
9:31am Eastern. He just delivered a line about whites worshipping on Sunday, then donning KKK robes and killing blacks on Monday morning.
More slave talk, prophetic black lib talk. He wraps up and gets another huge standing o from the audience and from the journalist panel members.
The NPC lady wants to clarify that the applause doesn’t necessarily come from journalists.
Uh-huh.
Q&A. First question is about “chickens coming home to roost” sermon. Wright retorts: “Have you heard the whole sermon?” Cites the Bible. Do unto others. Applause.
Next question on Wright’s patriotism. Wright mentions his Army service of six years. “How many years did Cheney serve?”
Struts around? Mocks a salute. Encourages audience to applaud.
NPC lady asks crowd to limit applause.
Next question asks why Wright is speaking up despite Obama’s distancing himself.
Wright gets his dander up.
Paraphrasing: “I will still be a pastor on Nov. 5. We have a game in our community called playing the dozens. Can’t insult my mama. Can’t insult his black liberation theology and his church. “If you think you can, you got another thing coming.”
“Louis Farrakhan is not my enemy. He didn’t enslave me. He didn’t put me in chains. And he didn’t make me this color.”
Next question about Obama having to speak as a politician. “Politicians say what they say and do what they do based on the polls. Preachers have a different person to whom they are accountable. I do what pastors do. He does what politicians do. I am not running for president.”
Jibes: I am open to being vice president.”
Audience hoots and applauds.
9:42am. “God damns some practices.”
“I’m not going to forgive you for stepping on my foot if you’re still stepping on my foot.”
Snarks to the NPC lady: “Understand? Capiche?”
Question again on Obama distancing himself and not inviting Wright to give invocation last year at presidential announcement: “He didn’t distance himself from me. He distanced himself from some of my remarks which he didn’t hear.”
If Obama didn’t hear your sermons, does that mean he’s not much of a churchgoer?
Wright: “That means he goes to church about as much as you do! What did your pastor preach about this week?”
Some applause, some boos.
9:46am Eastern. Question about conspiracies.
Wright defends his AIDS conspiracies. “I believe our government is capable of doing anything.”
9:48am. Can you explain your analogy of Roman soldiers who killed Jesus and the Marine Corps?
Cites imperialism in Luke. Yes, I can compare that.
9:53am Eastern. “Question: Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the light. Is Islam the way to salvation?”
Wright: Jesus also said “other sheep I have, which are not of this fold.”
Question: Would people of other races be welcome at your church?
“Yes…a white woman stood up at our church and said “I am unashamedly African.”
The media was making a fool of itself. Had to wait and let themselves.
“You talkin’ ’bout my mama, you talkin’ ’bout my faith tradition.”
Ends again with his new rhetorical device that the attacks on him are attacks on the black church.
Do you think it is God’s will that Sen. Obama be president?
“I cannot presume to know what God would want…what God has for you is for you.”
9:57am Eastern. Wright gets a centennial mug.
It’s white.
Just saying.
Last question: NPC’er cites joke from Chris Rock that all 75-year-old black men are angry. Is that true?
Wright: “I think that’s just like the media. I’m not 75.”
A piece of work, this guy. A rude, racist, self-righteous piece of work.

Wise man! When Wright says that this is an attack on the black church, he means that as a UNIFYING FIGURE and SPIRITUAL MENTOR and CAMPAIGN ADVISOR to Jesus Obama.
Man oh man! Talk about misquoting Jesus! This quote comes from John 10:16, but he didn’t even finish the sentence.
In other words, Jesus is the leader of his own sheep, not Allah or Mohammad. In fact, the context which Wright stripped from his quote is that Jesus is the one and only legitimate shepherd. I was going to try to give a few select quotes from this passage, but the context is too rich to allow pull quotes, so here it is in its entirety:
The other interesting thing about this quote that he twisted, is that when Jesus is talking about sheep from “other folds” he means non-Jews. Remember, Jews were God’s chosen people. His Old Testament covenant with Abraham applied only to them. In this case, then, Jesus is telling his jewish listeners that he is opening up salvation to all races, which is the exact opposite of “Reverend” Wright’s “other gospel.”
I watched the whole performance:
During the speech part, he was Moyers-calm, but during the Q&A he couldn’t help himself, especially with an enthusiastic bussed-in crowd.
He was a buffoon, struting around behind the moderator and mugging for the crowd/cameras. Seriously, is he coming out now to speak because of “the dozens” and “his mamma’? Sick joke.
He also was a bully, attacking the moderator for each offending question, as if she were the source for the questions–Invading her personal space, hoping she would be intimidated.
Did anyone notice he said, “Farrakhan. . .did not make me this color.”? Is that a reference to his light color?
Here we go (caveat: typical white persons should not attempt the dozens, except on Match Game!)
Wright is so crazy, the only white woman allowed in his church is Nurse Ratched.
Wright is so racist, he locks his pantry at night, so the crackers won’t get out and lynch him.
I remind all of you that Obama sat through this crap for 20 years and approved of it. He led his wife and daughters to this man, and praised this man in his books.
Have you seen anything that is praise worthy yet?
Have you seen anything unifying yet?
Have you seen anything that is positive about this man yet?
Now lets do the math.
Snob plus Rich, plus Elite, plus No Qualifications, plus Race baiting mentor EQUALS DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE.
Have I missed anything?
Michelle, I have to comment on his quote about “other sheep not of this fold”. Jesus was clearly not talking about the “fold” of Israel as the “other sheep” [ref John 10:16], but was clearly referring to the Gentiles who, through His work, would soon be brought into the same fold [compare to Ephesians 2:11-22]. Please all of you read John 10:16 and John 14:6. There is no other way…and for a so-called Christian pastor to indicate otherwise is pure heresy!
He can quote from the Bible and scriptures and he can misquote.
He is like the burglar that has learned locksmithing.
In process of switching to democrat party today I’m so grrrr at McCain being there to represent everyone but republicans. Either won’t be voting for POTUS, or it’ll be Hillary – Obama is too dangerous.. look at what has become of Zimbabwe after the great unifier Mugabe came into power a couple of decades ago.. no thanks.
But its OK for blacks because only whites can be racist. I’ve never been racist in my life, my upbringing would not tolerate false prejudices. But frankly this whole experience might make me one.
I am sick and tired of being accused of things that I had nothing to do with. I am NOT responsible for slavery, I am not responsible for the KKK, I am not responsible for any of this cr*p and I refuse to allow anyone, black or white, to dump guilt on me.
AMEN BROTHER… HERE HERE…. I AGREE.
He makes my blood boil. What an absolute freak.
Hillary Clinton should byuy a lottery ticket today – it seems to be her lucky day.
Wright not only reinforced the characterization of his rants as hate-fueled racism, he did so on the day after Candidate Obama told the Nation that questions regarding Wright are fair game.
Nope, you hit the nail on the head yet again.
Atheists, agnostics, muslims, even some “Christians” misquote or twist the Bible and scripture to further their agenda. One of my favorite radio programs, Way of the Master Radio, even has a humorous musical guitar interlude from Twisted Sister when they play their “Twisted Scripture” segment where Todd plays a recording of someone abusing scripture and taking snippets or taking it completely out of context to further a political or social agenda.
There are many out there like Wright who are wolves in sheep clothing. It’s a shame to see so many sheep fall for it… their claws are extremely visible.
Wright is unwittingly helping Operation Chaos.
How Wierd Dean made a brilliant statement today about the Super Delegates needing to give the party 2 and half months to heal. Okie Dokie.
C’mon Super Delegates vote for Rodham, and watch Denver burn.
So by his logic, anyone who has not served in the military cannot send troops into battle?
I guess that locks McCain in as Wright’s candidate. No wonder he is torpedoing the Obama compaign.
This guy is going to start a hate war among races.
Attack on black church? TD.Jake’s Church is a black church and i like that church, they encourage black people as well as all people and preach love! Nobody has a problem with that!
But if your pastor start spreading hate and declaring war against others and bringing politics into your church, you should be “under attack”.
I’m kinda intriguiged by the fact the christian community and pastors of mega churches and leaders are not denouncing this guy and demand he stops using religion for his political/race hate spreding message. This is ridiculous!
It’s time for people to come out and speak up!
I was frustrated when muslins in general in the muslin community were not speaking out or doing anything about the radical terrorists, therefore i was beginning to think they were all the same.
But this guy J.W. is in my opinion is a radical extremist, instigating conflict among people, making racism an issue, and is declaring war against anyone that desagree with him.
He needs to stop using our religion for his cause! This is unacceptable! It’s offensive!
Please just don’t vote…remember Hillary looking in any way acceptable is only because of Obama….and unfortunately at times, McCain.
Write in Spongebob Squarepants.
If a priest at my church had once said anything one tenth as loony as Jeremiad Wright, I would have changed parishes in a heartbeat.
…and Obama sat in the pew for twenty years and nothing clicked in that empty skull of his? Riiiiiiiiight.
Sure, while he was alive, no man was saved but by him.
#100, thank you for the explanation.
It is our responsibility as Christians to know the Scripture. How else are we to defend ourselves against those who wish to lead us astray? Obama had a responsibility to remove his family from that church the moment he
heardlearned of this -non-biblical teaching. It was his duty as a Christian to do so. This also applies to the rest of the congregation. Jesus’ teachings are rather simple and you need not four degrees in order to understand Him.It’s the only way to combat against false teachers. How are they to distinguish Jesus’ voice if they don’t?
OBAMA / WRIGHT in ‘08!
Wright ripped off Bill Cosby with the dissing stuff.
nods Bob #113 – most likely will do just that – forget about POTUS and concentrate on voting reasonable Republicans in at Congress level.. providing there are some. If I can do it as a registered democrapper, then even better.
Duck, dodge, dip…. So much heresy, so little time.
Wright is clearly a nut case and every time he opens his mouth it becomes more obvious, even to his MSM sycophants. The new line from the Obama camp and the media will be (as it has largely been) is that this is all a distraction and we should be talking about the issues American care about. Unfortunately, alot of Americans would rather discuss Wright than whether nationalizing health care is just a good idea or a really super good idea. This is not going away. Wright is just getting wound up and will sink Obama in the end.
Mister P.
That’s a ridiculous statement and you know it. If your plan is to keep moving the goal posts after your comment is proven incorrect… I’m done here.
I thought the Pope gave a warning about ‘prophetic’ preaching in one of his speaches. Anyone else here that?
Well, Mr. Wright has certainly given us the context we needed as a basis for his sermons. This man is the epitome of an egotist, he feeds on applause like a vampire feeds on blood. Hillary must be rubbing her hands with glee, I almost feel sorry for Obama.
From the NPC’s website:
“Rev. Jeremiah Wright Addresses Press Club, Critics
Embraces Differences, Urges Reconciliation”
Hilarious, as is their blog: http://blog.press.org/?p=599
Dang crazy uncle just won’t shut up, will he, Barack?
Jesus Obama’s spiritual mentor and crazy Uncle Cracker, continues to sink Jesus Obama.
Ba da da da da, I’m lovin it.
Abuse privileges? I thought Bubba had simply crossed the border to Canada citing moral issues.
Oh right, I forgot, that’s actually respectable, but W’s stint in the reserves is not. Yeah, got it.
Thanks Sambo! I’m glad he(Pope) did that again! God bless him!
But i mean, i would like for pastors, preachers to speak straight to J.W., to really have a meeting with J.W, and speak to him in person and demand he, Jeremiah Wright stops this non sense using the name of God!
It’s offensive that someone, being a pastor of a major church would say those things over and over again in the name of God!
It’s disturbing! He can say all those offensive things as a civil rights leader, or even in his personal life. But not as leader representing a christian church, claimming that it is God’s word. It’s an insult!
The person taking the name of the lord in vain has the initials J.W. … need I say more?
Do any of you think that Wright intends to shut up?
He’s getting wined dined and getting rich by doing this. His flock agrees with him and is not demanding he stops. As a matter of fact his flock. (Obama included) is building him a 10,000 sq ft gated community home, at a cool 1.6 MILLION DOLLARS.
Just a friendly reminder. Jesus Obama UNITER!! Listened to this crap for 20 years.
Anyone still think this guy isn’t a racist?
What I know is that we don’t really know what he said, but it was reported many years after he died that he told his followers that the way to Truth was through him. That hardly implies that it was meant for all people for all time. To think it does to me is a bit of a stretch. My guess his followers wanted to create a religion. So I am hardly moving the goal posts as you say, just as your statement hardly proved anything other than what I stated.
That is the problem with mixing religious beliefs with politics. Not everyone makes the same assumptions and has the same beliefs.
Um, if this kind of stuff doesn’t hurt Obama we’ll know exactly where this country is headed. His die-hard supporters will excuse it away, just as BO has done, but I have to believe more reasonable people will look at this and question why Obama would have such a close relationship with the man if he truly didn’t agree with much of what he said. Why would you sit there and listen to that garbage every Sunday if you thought they were wrong? Wright is clearly a racist hate-monger, and Obama is getting away with associating with him.
I am being suffucated by this man’s ego. He really can’t help himself, and doesn’t care what happens to Obama’s campaign. He easily could have laid low and stayed quiet until next November, but NOOOOOOOoooooooo he’s loving the attention too much. There is no rational evidence that Obama believes in everything Pastor Wright believes in, but the association will sink him. Maybe Jerimiah Wright is a Hillary supporter like others from his generation like Andrew Young, Bob Johnson……I think these fellas think, “who in the hell does Obama think he is?” “you think you’re better than me?”
Well let the chips fall where they may. The funny thing is the whole pastor Wright controveresy is NOTHING compared to the Clinton associations and scandals, and I do mean outright scandals. Edwards is looking like the best Dem candidate for November at this time, and I never would have thought so 4 months ago.
The passage Wright is referring to is John 10:16: “I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.”
Wright is wrong, Jesus is not talking about people of various religions going to heaven. This passage is talking about how through Jesus’ cross, He would tear down the dividing wall that separated the Jews and the Gentiles “so that in Himself He might make the two [Jew and gentile] into one new man” – Ephesians 2:11-22.
Whereas it was previously thought that the Messiah would only bring salvation to the Jews, Jesus made it possible for Gentiles to become Christians without becoming a Jew – which was positively scandalous to the Jewish believers. Consider Acts 11:1-18: “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”
EXACTLY, PRECISELY ON POINT. EXACTLY.
Those blasted goal posts just won’t stand still.
Let’s back up here a bit why don’t we… Your first comment stated that Jesus was speaking to his “desciples” only when He said: I am the way, the truth and the life.” I pointed out that Jesus said that “no man” comes to the Father but by him. Your next comment was that “Sure, while he was alive, no man was saved but by him.” And that’s is when I referred to the shift in your argument of Jesus only referring to his disciples.
Please speak for yourself. You know not what I know about my beliefs.
Do you read the Bible?
That explains it…
From your lips to Jerry’s ears.
We aren’t talking assumptions we are talking about what the Bible teaches vs. what Rev Wright preaches… they aren’t one in the same.
Bingo for Trollman #136!
The thought of this man being a consultant to a future president turns my stomach.
Why is this racist jerk being honored by the press? To validate his racism as he pours kitty litter over his mistakes? Hint, Jeremiah– who lives in a millionaire home–the kitty litter is not absorbing your excrement.
Mistress, you said there is no rational evidence that Obama believes EVERYTHING this piece of garbage believes in.
I’ll leave you with this….
Who did Obama pick as his spiritual mentor, Pastor, Baptizer of his children. Who performed his Marriage ceremony. Whom did Obama honor in his books.
I rest my case.
Please respond, I could use another laugh. DENIAL IS NOT A RIVER IN EGYPT.
Wright launches into a review of black liberation theology. “I do not in any way disagree with James Cone. Jim is a personal friend of mine.”
kathy shaidle summarizes james cone:
“Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.”
this is whom Wright agrees with and indoctrines into this Trinity Church!?
This must be their definition of HOPE!
20 years of this and not know knowing?!
No doubt he’s cashing in on all this! He’s a celebrity now! I saw his house under construction on tv… In a white neighborhood. He’s living large.
If he really cared about poor black people he should take advantge of this media coverage and move to a poor black area to bring attention to his cause. Just like Angelina and Brad did when they moved to New Orleans. Or when they went to Africa to have their baby, hoping to bring media attention to poor black people in Africa.
#141:
I was about to say the same thing. “Rational” evidence or not, you simply do not have a close, decades-long relationship with someone if you find their views and beliefs abhorrent. You just don’t.
I wonder if the MSM will ever ask Jesus Obama the following.
Jesus Obama! What did you think Mr. Wright stood for in the last 20 years?
Did you notice his animated histrionics and caustic sarcasm vis a vis other races and cultures?
Are you still denying your knowledge of his character and rhetoric.
Can you tell us of a sermon that Wright gave that wasn’t negative and full of vitriol?
Why is it that the rest of his flock are still standing firmly beside him, but you aren’t?
Simply, wow. I feel that I have this guy Wright in full context now, and it’s the same context I got from the scores of his earlier snippets.
Thanks to all of Wright’s defenders. I guess context IS everything.
BrianNY
yeah .. prepare yourself … all the criticism over his NPC appearance staements will also be “taken out of context” snippets played over and over in a loop …
I’m curious. For many days now, I have heard Wright defenders claim his “combat service in Vietnam” as evidence of his patriotism, but I can’t find any evidence of Wright’s “combat experience in Vietnam” through Google.
Does anyone have a link to a source? Thanks.
I guess that makes Tim McVeighs combat service in The Gulf War is proof of his patriotism, and Benedict Arnolds service in the Revolution is proof of his, and John Kerry shooting a young man in the back and then ripping his own comrades in Winter Soldier Detroit is proof of his.
Real compelling logic. Only a lib would eat that.
Notice how Rev. Wright talked about Cheney not serving in the military?
That’s because the actual person running for the Republicans has WAY more military experience then Rev. Wright and the good reverend didn’t want to point that out.
Note to Reverend Wright: Cheney ain’t running for president.
I find it interesting that Wright was meeting with Obama just prior to Obama’s Philadelphia speech denouncing Wrights remarks damning America.
Okay, so that means he believes in everything his preacher believes in? No, that means he has a close relationship with the man, and perhaps loves him dearly, and believes he helped lead him to Christ. There is no logic to your quote, and the point that Obama believes in EVERYTHING that Wright believes in. That’s an asinie point, and I think you know that. Even some of the main attackers of Obama on this Wright issue will submit, that there’s nothing to support the notion that Obama supports ALL of Wright’s views. This is about Obama’s judgement in associations, leadership and parenting. Grow up libocrat, you are making the issue more simplistic and obtuse than it needs to be. Like most rightwing conservatives on the blogs, you don’t realize when you’re already ahead, you’d rather be a blowhard. Seriously, pick a more intelligent way to fight, or pick someone more on your own level.
Has anyone noticed yet that Obama’s words to do not match his actions.
He has NO QUALIFICATIONS to be President, and yet most of those who want him to be President are buying his Racial bullsh@t. He’s not a unifier, nor has he ever been.
I’ve got one word for you weak kneed libs who want so badly to vote for a black man, because he is black, and because it will ease your guilty lib consciences.
SUCKER.
BrianNY
Wright was in the USMC from 1961-1963 (he only managed to become a PFC which is E-2) … he then transferred to the Navy and became a corpsman … he was assigned to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland from 1963-1967 … since the Gulf of Tonkin incident that pulled us into the Viet Nam war was in August of 1964 I would have to say there is no way he served in Viet Nam …
Mistress, Obama sat through racial hatred for 20 years. He could have chosen THOUSANDS of preachers who didn’t hate, HE CHOSE WRIGHT and stuck with WRIGHT. He was wrong, and he is complicit.
You are taking the liberal path. You are trying to win a lost argument that you know you’ve lost. Stuck on stupid it is called.
BrianNY …
In fact I spent more time in Nam (43 months total) than he spent in the USMC (24 months) …
Mistress, you’re comical. I’m beating your senseless with logic. Either you are dishonest or plainly just an idiot.
You choose one sister. You’ve chosen to escalate this debate and use “blowhard” etc. I’m willing to continue beating you logically, but apparenlty you would choose to be a liberal idiot instead.
You’re choice. You clearly are not in my league. You aren’t even a challenge.
We are seeing a party destroy itself. The promiser of hope is all puffery hiding the worse kind of racism and “liberation theology” maxism.
If the Democrats don’t quickly step back from this they are going to turn the clock back on racial relations and it won’t be pretty. My fear is that is too late.
We face a bleak furture in this country.
I may be wrong, but Wikipedia shows FDR as having been appointed a US Secretary of the Navy, but never serving in the US military.
Vice President Cheney also served as a US Secretary of Defense, but never served in the US military.
Does anyone know if republicans used the “Dick Cheney” argument against President FDR during WW II, as democrats do against Vice President Cheney today? Or did republicans show more respect for a former US Secretary of the Navy in the 1940s than democrats show today?
Pastor Wright has provide context for every word he speaks. His words and his theology rest in Black Liberation Theology as expressed by Dr. Cones.
That is what he has preached for twenty years while Obama bought in to his church and his pastor. This is deep context not sound bites.
Obama is a liberal elitist and a liberation theology advocate. And he is having a devil of a time hiding it.
So…what DOES Obama agree with Wright about, and what does he take exception to?
It might be too late to prevent extreme damage to race relations. Those who have jumped through hoops and very carefully considered their every word out of the fear of even remotely being thought of as racist can relax, it doesn’t matter what you say or who you are, according to BLT you ARE racist and evil by birth.
What do you think would happen if this where a white man speaking about the white persons values and promoting the white mans agrenda. RACISM IS RACISM. No matter what color your skin is…
I say level the playing field. do away with all entitlement programs, all welfare, and food stamps. Get rid of affirmative action and see who is willing to put forth an effort to survive.

I suspect the same, but keep your ears up. I keep hearing Wright defenders claim his “combat service in Vietnam” on the cable shows, so it must be a democrat talking point.
BTW, thanks for your service, Sir.
There’s a gentleman two doors down from my folks who served USMC, was made a Navy Corpsman, and fought from Iwo Jima to Okinawa.
This gentleman has more honor and humility in his little two than Jeremiah Wright has in his big, fat, racist mouth.
s/b little toe.
I’m sorry that Michelle didn’t include this quote from Kathy Shaidle’s blog (she, of Five Feet of Fury)
This is absolutely the most troubling aspect to all of this. Just what is it about the Reverend and his Black Liberation Theology that the prospective POTUS finds so inspiring?
Note also, the reference to “prophecy preaching” that the Pope warned about.
Rev. Wright asserted today that he is Obama’s pastor, and that he will still be a pastor on Nov. 5 and Jan. 21, no matter what happens in the election.
So is he the “former pastor” of Obama or current pastor, as he asserts?
Is he a pastor without a church?
Did Obama leave the church?
My father-in-law, an immigrant that taught himself English by sitting down every night with the newspaper and a dictionary, once said that he finally lived long enough to learn that everything was his fault.
World War II was his fault.
The oppression of women was his fault.
The oppression of Blacks was his fault (although I doubt he had ever seen one before coming to America).
The destruction of the environment was his fault.
You can add more to this list…
The more Rev. Wright speaks on the record, the larger the sign, “Colored Only” will be hanging around Senator Obamas neck.

Here is a link to Wright’s and Obama’s hometown newspaper regarding his service with the obvious comparisons to Cheney … but it proves he was not in Viet Nam …
If someone says Wright served in the military “during” Viet Nam they are accurate … but he was not “in” Viet Nam …
Jeremiah Wright Military Service per Chicago Tribune OpEd
William Jefferson Clinton, Rhodes Scholar, circa 1992; “I tried it but I didn’t inhale.”
Barak Hussein Obama, Senator, circa 2008; “I sat in church for 20 years, but I didn’t listen.”
Hillary Rodham Clinton, Senator, circa 2008; “I dodged sniper fire in Serbia.”
Democrats, the party of Stoopid! Any questions as to why they have a super-delegate system?
We should start a new competition: let’s see how many fallacies Mr. Wright can commit in a single speech. The fallacy of Ignoratio Elenchi (aka Irrelevant Conclusion) is probably his worst. What does Dick Cheney’s service have to do with Mr. Wright? Nothing. When asked about Mr. Obama’s church attendance Mr. Wright responded by attacking the reporter’s church attendance record. Again, what does this have to do with the issue at hand?
This is the biggest problem with the “Black” church. Mr. Wright and those like him have abandoned reason and have adopted a purely anti-intellectual way of thinking. In Wright’s world, sermons should not focus on righteousness, but rather should be Amen-fishing expeditions.
Remember when Mr. Shabazz and how he argued with Michelle? Noticing his inexorable defeat, he appealed to Ad Hominem and Appeals to Force fallacies by calling her a prostitute and raising his voice.
I think I’ll continue following my Bible and watching out for what Peter and Paul called “false prophets.”

Thank you for that. I am certain that these Wright defenders have been claiming that he served IN Vietnam. The latest was last night on Fox, “Geraldo at Large” was talking with Montel Williams and a black pastor. One of these guests stated that Wright had service in Vietnam.
I’m shocked, no one in the “press” thought to ask, what Obama’s military credentials were?
And, that if Cheney’s NON-credentials, supposedly make him UN-fit for public service?
And, if that’s the case…………….?
How many superdelegates would the Repubs have needed to avoid McCain?
Oh…And, by the way…Wikipedia Jeremiah’s heroic derring-do as a Marine.
franksalterego
If one of my troops had only been able to make PFC and not LCpl in 2 years in the Corps he would not have been considered much of a Marine …
I’m sure Rev. Wright will be happy to tell you why he wasn’t promoted more quickly.
Well, I won’t denigrate his service, but it grinds my hump, these are the very same people who denigrate Bush’s.
It IS a black thing, and I don’t understand……
BOB
I was not denigrating Wright’s military service … it had to be honorable or he could not have transferred into the Navy after 2 years in the Marine Corps … All references indicate that he most likely had to extend his original enlistment (4 years was the standard enlistment in the USMC then) by another 2 years to go to the Navy and become a corpsman … key is he “transferred” to the Navy … can only do that while still on active duty … and Marines can transfer into the Navy to become Corpsmen
My point was just that getting to Lance Corporal (E-3) is not a difficult task …
Professor Libocrat’s logic 101:
….
So your logic proves the Obama believes EVERYTHING that his Pastor believes.
Yeah, okay there libo. Keep on typing and remove all doubt.
If this is how you learned to argue “logic” in school, I feel absolutely sorry for you.
I give up, go ahead an declare victory. #s 135 and 152 show my views on the issue, and I don’t see much support of “typical” liberal talking points in my posts on this Rev. Wright thread, but I don’t debate delusional people. You are the victor. YOU ARE THE VICTOR,victorvictorvictorvic. I give up oh great libocrat.
Logic. Bwahahahahaahaha.
p.s. thanks for the “I rest my case ” line. You brightened an otherwise dull morning.
Pretty funny, if you consider that by appearance alone, Wright looks about 3/4 white.
Thanks, that was very funny..and Wright on.
