Worked like a charm yesterday during her softball interview with NBC’s Meredith Viera:
MEREDITH VIEIRA: Michelle, do you feel that the Reverend Wright betrayed your husband?
MICHELLE OBAMA: I think Barack has spoken so clearly and eloquently about this.
MEREDITH VIEIRA: But do you personally feel that the Reverend Wright…
MICHELLE OBAMA: You know what I think Meredith? I think we gotta move forward. You know, this conversation doesn’t help my kids. You know, it doesn’t help kids out there who are looking for us to make decisions and choices about how we’re going to better fund education.
I can see it now:

You know when Michelle really should have used that line? When she was sitting in church with her kids sometime over the last 20 years listening to Jeremiah Wright “conversing” about his standard litany of grievances against America.

You know, as I was reading this post, my boss walked in and asked why I wasn’t focusing on my work (to put it very mildly). I told him that “this discussion wasn’t helping my kids”.
He stopped talking, turned around and left my office.

Every time I hear Michelle Obama speak, I hear the echo of Jeremiah Wright. While her hubby may have denounced Wright, she has refused to do the same. And that’s because she have drunk deeply from the well of black liberation theology. She believes as Wright does, that the US is “mean”, oppressive and is run by the rich white folk.
I got the distinct impression that she is actually angry at Barak for lashing out against Wright. She wants all to move on so she does not get into a situation where she has to honestly answer the Wright question. She takes exception to having to address these types of issues, since she so generously has agreed to share Barak with all of America. How dare we question her? In her mind, the issues BO faces are purely and simply the result of racism and not related to any legitimate concern over his character, integrity or credibility.

Perhaps this has already been answered, but does Michelle Obama’s association with Trinity Church go back further than Barak’s?
It seems everyone just assumes she and her hubby joined at the same time. But she is a native of Chicago, and has implied that she has been a life long Christian. If so, what church did she belong to before?
If she and her family were members of Trinity before Barak joined, she would have been exposed to “Wright’s Wrants” for the better part of her life. And such a long period of indoctrination would explain the fact that she literally drips with disdain when it comes to the US.

Funny you should say that, RedRepub…last night I saw Chris Rock at Madison Square Garden, and while he is completely in the tank for BO, he did say that no black woman would stay in the background, and indicated it would definitely be a two-fer. We have been discussing the Trinity Church situation via the Obamas attendence on Imus Times and Imus Truth, we can’t figure out if Michelle Obama was already a congregant when she married Barack Obama and he joined her church I mean it would make sense for her to want to get married in the church she attended and Barack didn’t have a religious background…what is Michelle Obama’s maiden name and was she already a member? BO keeps saying that he never heard any of those sermons, but nobody asks the question of whether MO was there when he was away on “official business” according to his calendar.
I also agree that she seems to wear the pants in this family, and he, like other men before him, goes along with whatever his wife says to keep the peace.
From what I have seen, I think he went to this church for 20 years because he needed the “street cred” in the black community, but she went because she agreed with the views of the church.

Michelle Obama doesn’t have to worry about “funding education”. She worked for the country club blue blood law firm of Sidley & Austin as did Barack and just coincidentally so did Bernadine Dohrn (Bill Ayers wifey). That firm just happens to represent large insurance companies, large pharmaceutical companies and large corporations. This is not a firm where any of its lawyers have to worry about affording education for their kiddies.
Michelle Obama is Ivy League and country club inside and out. She has no clue about having to worry about things like buying a new washing machine.
But her first instinct, like that of any limosuine liberal, is to call for increased government spending for any and all issues. Maybe all that arugula and the Whole Foods diet is doing something to the brain.

Meredith shouldn’t have missed a beat. Her next question should have been. Now that you mention your kids, I’ve been wanting to ask you if you took them to church with you most Sundays to hear Rev. Wright preach? If so, have they come to agree with Rev. Wright’s black liberation theology approach to religion and do they support his position that the US created aids to kill black people? Finally, would you say it helped your kids to hear phrases like ‘God Damn America,’ and ‘The United States of KKK?’

The problem is they think they can dictate the conversation. They like to sit and say that this issue is not important, and we need to move on…but it IS important to the people- or else we wouldn’t be talking about it!!
One of these days the politicians need to wake up and figure out that they aren’t running anything. They work for us, and they do not dictate what people make issues out of. The people do. It is their job to convey exactly how they feel about the issue.
It is not their job to say that we’re not going to talk about this anymore because they don’t see the need to. It’ll be talked about as long as people choose to…not Michelle. (As if she’s so damned special anyway. She’s a nobody like her husband who wouldn’t be where he was if it were’t a politically correct candidate. But hey, thank CNN for picking him.)
