The Michelle Obama-patented subject-changer

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 1, 2008 02:59 PM

In a pickle with your spouse over laundry you neglected to do or trash you forgot to take out?

Looking for an easy way to wriggle out of a tough spot with your boss?

Never fear. Michelle Obama is here with her new patented subject-changer:

“You know, this conversation doesn’t help my kids.”

Worked like a charm yesterday during her softball interview with NBC’s Meredith Viera:

MEREDITH VIEIRA: Michelle, do you feel that the Reverend Wright betrayed your husband?

MICHELLE OBAMA: I think Barack has spoken so clearly and eloquently about this.

MEREDITH VIEIRA: But do you personally feel that the Reverend Wright…

MICHELLE OBAMA: You know what I think Meredith? I think we gotta move forward. You know, this conversation doesn’t help my kids. You know, it doesn’t help kids out there who are looking for us to make decisions and choices about how we’re going to better fund education.

I can see it now:

- Homeowners under water in heated discussions with their banks:

“You know, this conversation doesn’t help my kids.”

- Speeders arguing with traffic cops:

“You know, this conversation doesn’t help my kids.”

You know when Michelle really should have used that line? When she was sitting in church with her kids sometime over the last 20 years listening to Jeremiah Wright “conversing” about his standard litany of grievances against America.

***

Ed Morrissey has more on the Obamas’ Today Show appearance.

Tom Maguire gladly changes the subject…to Bill Ayers.

Har.

Snort.

Whoa! These poll results from Indiana are not helping the Obamas’ kids.

Can you please, in the future, give a beverage drinking warning prior to a body-blow sentence like that(coffee spewed on my monitor doesn’t help my kids).
D*mn… it’s like M.Obama accidently pitched a slow underhand truthball, and Michelle M. used her laptop to hammer it out of the park.

Michelle, you are sooooo right that Michelle Obama should have used that line during the 100’s of Jeremiah Wright sermons her kids sat through. Now THAT would be something.

It cannot be helpful to kids in the black community to be told how horrible this country is and how they can’t get a fair shake, blah blah blah. Do they think Tiger Woods got fed all that yah-yah when he was growing up?? No way. His dad was telling him he could achieve; that he could be the best. That the world was his, if he just worked toward the goal of being the best. And look what that produced—an exceptional person with exceptional abilities borne out of desire and hard work. Every kid in America of every color ought to be talked to like that every day. Words matter. Life and death truly IS in the power of the tongue. Black liberation theology is poison “and really isn’t helping the kids.”

If she is so worried about her kids, perhaps she should consider the position of POTUS - 24/7 - surrounded by Secret Service, constantly on guard against kidnapping and assasination. Does she believe that will be good for the kids?

Something else that is not good for the children is to see their parents waffle, lie and pander.

NOW she starts to think about what her kids hear????

    Michelle obama and bh obama….
They really are the most narcissistic, self-absorbed, selfish, self-centered arrogant, ungrateful, un-syncretic, irascible, pusillanimous, turgid, pompous asses in this country today!

(I would go on but they don’t deserve anymore ink or time.)

Their only apparent purpose for existing is to make the Clintons look good by comparison.

We have been discussing the Trinity Church situation via the Obamas attendence on Imus Times and Imus Truth, we can’t figure out if Michelle Obama was already a congregant when she married Barack Obama and he joined her church I mean it would make sense for her to want to get married in the church she attended and Barack didn’t have a religious background…what is Michelle Obama’s maiden name and was she already a member? Is she responsible for Barack Obama sitting in the pew for 20 years? It would explain somethings especially her statements about the U.S.A.

Wright is pretty bad, but the Ayers association is even more disturbing..

The Obama campaign is currently counting their blessings that people are focused on the good Reverend.. Wait until people get back to bomber boy Bill Avers, like I have in my story linked up above.

Eventually the Obamites won’t be able to mitigate that one.. His campaign donor, co-board member, & terrorist friend, should be in federal prison. He took money from him either knowing that, or not knowing that. Either way, it makes him to ignorant for the job.

BO keeps saying that he never heard any of those sermons, but nobody asks the question of whether MO was there when he was away on “official business” according to his calendar.

I also agree that she seems to wear the pants in this family, and he, like other men before him, goes along with whatever his wife says to keep the peace.

From what I have seen, I think he went to this church for 20 years because he needed the “street cred” in the black community, but she went because she agreed with the views of the church.

So he is either lying, ignorant, clueless, hen-pecked, or a combination of the above. Either way, he should NOT be this close to running this great country!

And nothing that comes out of these people’s mouths will do ANYTHING to help my kids!

Michelle Obama doesn’t have to worry about “funding education”. She worked for the country club blue blood law firm of Sidley & Austin as did Barack and just coincidentally so did Bernadine Dohrn (Bill Ayers wifey). That firm just happens to represent large insurance companies, large pharmaceutical companies and large corporations. This is not a firm where any of its lawyers have to worry about affording education for their kiddies.
Michelle Obama is Ivy League and country club inside and out. She has no clue about having to worry about things like buying a new washing machine.
But her first instinct, like that of any limosuine liberal, is to call for increased government spending for any and all issues. Maybe all that arugula and the Whole Foods diet is doing something to the brain.

Meredith shouldn’t have missed a beat. Her next question should have been. Now that you mention your kids, I’ve been wanting to ask you if you took them to church with you most Sundays to hear Rev. Wright preach? If so, have they come to agree with Rev. Wright’s black liberation theology approach to religion and do they support his position that the US created aids to kill black people? Finally, would you say it helped your kids to hear phrases like ‘God Damn America,’ and ‘The United States of KKK?’

The problem is they think they can dictate the conversation. They like to sit and say that this issue is not important, and we need to move on…but it IS important to the people- or else we wouldn’t be talking about it!!

One of these days the politicians need to wake up and figure out that they aren’t running anything. They work for us, and they do not dictate what people make issues out of. The people do. It is their job to convey exactly how they feel about the issue.

It is not their job to say that we’re not going to talk about this anymore because they don’t see the need to. It’ll be talked about as long as people choose to…not Michelle. (As if she’s so damned special anyway. She’s a nobody like her husband who wouldn’t be where he was if it were’t a politically correct candidate. But hey, thank CNN for picking him.)
