Subsidizing gangs to gang-bang?

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 2, 2008 10:45 PM

I thought the D.C. police had won the liberal lunacy award of the week with their Orwellian crime-fighting strategy of renaming gangs “crews.”

Los Angeles may edge them out, though.

Fox 11 reports that tax dollars in L.A. meant for gang prevention went to hardened gang criminals. That’s right. City anti-gang money is going to convicted criminal gang-bangers who are hired as “gang intervention” specialists–while continuing their criminal activity.

The conduit? L.A. City Councilwoman Janice Hahn, who justifies the public pay-offs to gang members as a way to “keep the peace.”

Make sure to watch the whole report–especially the bit about “Bow Wow.”

Much more at This Goes to 11.

Also from flag etiquette “Displaying the Flag Indoors When on display, the flag is accorded the place of honor, always positioned to its own right. Place it to the right of the speaker or staging area or sanctuary. Other flags should be to the left.”
LA city council has placed some other flag on the right.

What is surprising is that the Bush/Rumsfeld administration did such an abysmal job telling folks about it. Of course, the MSM was prepared to not pay attention, but – it was there. We do not know what was convoyed to Syria – in the convoy a lawyer told us not to hit. We do know that everything was in place to produce WMD within months, and that there were artillery shells prepared for bi-chemicals found. IF you ignored all of the data not reported by MSM, I forgive you your ignorance. IF you discounted it due to your belief in MSM rather than ‘ground-truth’, I indict you as one of the masses who bought the “Bush Lied!” ignoramuses. Yeah, I do remember. Remember mainstream liberally leaning CBS making up documentation to try and directly affect a presidential election? Remember NBC faking exploding gas tanks on GM trucks?

From your perspective, obviously far left, Fox would appear to be “inaccurate,” but an objective reporter would see a news organization more centered than any of the others.

This story pits the word of a convicted felon (like Oliver North) against that of the public official. Of course, they side with the criminal. Fair and balanced as always.

Oooo. Quite a fine line we are drawing here. North is convicted by a pack of liberals for effectively trying to spread democracy in Central America and stop Democrat supported communist regimes from spreading like a cancer in that region. Dems are applauded for weakening big, bad America at every possible opportunity.

    Oliver North wikipedia entry

on May 4, 1989, he was initially convicted of three: accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, and destruction of documents (by his secretary, Fawn Hall, on his instructions). He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gerhard A. Gesell on July 5, 1989, to a three-year suspended prison term, two years probation, $150,000 in fines, and 1,200 hours community service. However, on July 20, 1990, with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU),[3] North’s convictions were vacated, after the appeals court found that witnesses in his trial might have been impermissibly affected by his immunized congressional testimony.[4]

The Supreme Court declined to review the case, and Judge Gesell dismissed all charges against North on September 16, 1991,

But I guess having those 3 felony convictions “vacated” doesn’t count for lgm.

What does ‘vacating a record’ mean?
Vacating a conviction for a crime means the Court determines you meet certain conditions and orders the conviction removed from your criminal history record.

What I do find funny though was that the ACLU was the one who the one who came to his defense to have the convictions removed.

The child like naivete of the liberal mind is stunning. It reminds me of listening to a group of 12 year olds. If you just shut your eyes and wish hard enough, all the ‘icky’ stuff will just go away! And, every 25 to 40 years ya just change the name of the same old failed program and re-introduce it. And when it fails AGAIN, blame the conservatives! Simple. See, all better. Time for recess!

Why do I think that L.A. City Councilwoman Janice Hahn is the type of politician who would say, “but the US helped fund the Taliban in the 1980s and gave Saddam Hussein the WMDs that he used against his own people?”

It’s ironic how some liberals are fine with funding domestic criminals who kill law enforcement and innocent US citizens, but are opposed to funding the enemies of our enemies abroad.

Ask any true L.A. liberal what they’re more concerned with, City funding for Bloods and Crips, or Gitmo?

If there were the slightest evidence of WMDs in Iraq, we would hear it every day from Bush.

Well, if it is only the “slightest” evidence that you require, please refer to post #s 24 and 64 for a good review, especially #24.

So who should we believe, a convicted liberal, or someone who has actually been there?

Garyt (does the “t” stand for Alzheimer’s?)…..

Even more off topic than usual, but what does that mean? There isn’t even a “t” in Alzheimer’s!

Oliver North was convicted of a felony. His conviction was overturned not because he was found innocent, but because the court held that he had in effect confessed to the crime in testimony he have under immunity.

In other words, he is a convicted felon whose conviction was overturned on a technicality, the kind of technicality people here rail about here. I’m not saying he should go to jail. But he should not be held up as an upstanding citizen.

Every time I quote wikipedia, somebody complains about its bias. It got the North story more or less right.

“..more or less right.” Well, that is good enough for me! /sarc I suppose we are to leave you as the arbiter of what is right and wrong, correct?

lgm, you crap on this site more than a goose on a diet of Fibersure and Ex-lax.

Try to 1)stay on topic, and 2) support your facts with sources better than the liberal sites you usually cite. Oh yeah, and the occasionally correct Wikipedia.

Methinks you are the one who is confused here Xler8bmw … liberals, useful idiots and other pawns have long since developed an immunity to facts and logic. Maybe I can get the government to give me a grant to study what has created that immune-disorder? Could this really be nothing more than an epidemic that can be cured? I highly doubt it but since the government is handing out our money anyhow … Well … just saying …

Go easy on lgm. He still has deep- seeded problems with the Good Guys trying to free US hostages in Lebanon, while supporting those in Nicaragua who wanted a vote, wanted the Sandinistas to stop confiscating their homes and who also wanted the Soviet Union out of their domestic affairs.

When liberals repeatedly throw up roadblocks (Boland Amendment, Colombia Free Trade Agreement holdup, etc.) between America’s national interests and the freedoms of our allies abroad, conservatives are forced to construct bridges to get the job done.

Fox reporting is the least accurate of all cable news. Remember how many times they foung WMDs in Iraq?

Local station report, Fox News Channel has nothing to do with it. FAIL

This story pits the word of a convicted felon (like Oliver North) against that of the public official. Of course, they side with the criminal. Fair and balanced as always.

Yet we can pretty much look up the city records to see the funding for this group. I’m guessing we could get records from this “outreach” program pretty easily. If you go back to Nigel’s post, he has more, this gangsta subsidy actually has been going on for a while. EPIC FAIL

Don’t rule out option 3) All of the above.

And remember: Gang bangers are domestic terrorists. A lot of them are here illegally and should be caught and sent back to their country of origen. An airplane trip perhaps, with a parachute landing. Either that or an all expense paid trip to Club Gitmo.

Did you even watch the video lgm? Or did you conveniently skip over the part where Hahn admits to hiring gang members as gang intervention workers (but denies paying them for it)? Did you then miss the part where police officers Chuck Garcia and Ryan Moreno who worked as gang officers for 10 years claim that gang intervention workers were getting paid to help stop gang violence but were part of the problem and not really stopping anything?

Oh I forgot, facts and testimony from police officers don’t matter to liberals trolls sticking up for their own. So much for the criminals vs public servant argument. But don’t worry, I clearly expect from you the retort of “well these two officers have it our for Hahn since they lost their jobs as gang officers for actually doing their job and putting away violent thugs in prison and are now suing the city”. It would be funny if it were not so predictable.
