The left-wing mortgage counseling racket, cont’d: La Raza’s earmark
Last month, I compiled a special report on the left-wing mortgage counseling racket, which has raked in tens of millions of taxpayer dollars. Among the biggest recipients: The National Council of La Raza.
You know: The National Council of The Race.
Now, via Hans Bader at Open Market, comes word that the latest housing bill making its way through Congress includes a a $10 annual million earmark specifically for La Raza in the federal housing bill.
That’s right: a special earmark for The Race.
Such a quandary for John McCain!
He opposes earmarks.
He embraces “The Race.”

I hear less than 1% of mortgages are foreclosed, nationally. So now, we taxpayers are supposed to subsidize that, so the dems have a good election year promoting socialism. Please show me where it is, in the Constitution, that Congress can do this. Or, have we reached that time when the Supreme Law can be ignored now…like our immigration laws.
See what all the campaign donations get you? Earmarks. I think the question needs to be asked more than ever: “McInsane, will you refuse to take donations from a racist group named La Raza?”
“will you refuse to take donations from a racist group named La Raza?””
um, is there any evidence they have donated to his campaign?
He will suck up to La Raza and all the Reconcista types. Does anybody question why Juan Hernandez works for the McCain people? What will brown do for them?
…catch Juan Hernandez by the toe!!!!!!!
He will do what all career politicians do; bend over and kiss whatever backside gets him the most votes.
Captain Keating’s 5 McCain the Reverse Ace is probably in cahoots with LaRaza.
The LESSER OF TWO EVILS - anyone?!!!!!
Hi all
I once heard from a talk show host, not
Rush,that American Citizens could not
own property in mexico. If la raza
gets their way,would our President
ranch be taken away?
I thought La Raza Hated America…?
This reminds me of the same stunt Komrade Klinton pulled by giving Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow coalition something like $7,000,000 a year to bring him into the fold.
they do…. thats why they’re all trying to come here….
Oh… wait…
Now I’m all confused…
BUT if McCain continues to go to La Raza functions, I aint voting for him.
Good one. Accurate too. And I believe he graduated fifth from the bottom of the class at the USNA.
No surprise that it is Financial Services Chairman Barney Fwanks bill. $5 mil this year and $10 mil each in ‘09/’10.
Notice how the money is designated for community development, low income housing etc
Wow, what about all the other races? I guess we are only allowed to contribute to the bill and not participate in it’s benefits.
The money will all go to US citizens, right? end sarc.
Unbeflippinlievable
Please stand by
I am once again considering a write in candidate this Nov. So far the only redeeming value of the republican candidate is his stance on military funding/war on terror. I am not even sure McCain would nominate true conservative judges to the Supreme Court.
Hmmm…. actualy an interesting point…
How can this pass muster as providing equal protection under the law?
I propose the creation of an organization specifically for non-hispanics, and then demand millions of taxpayer dollars to fight for non-hispanic rights. Non what should it be called.. hmm.. I know, how about “The Race”. Surely that wouldn’t be offensive. Also, it should be set up in all hispanic countries as well.
ajmontana #14 thanks for the link. I don’t know if I should laugh or cry myself when it comes to the self destructive nature of our elected officials. They won’t be happy until the republic is completely destroyed. There is nothing like filling the coffers of an American hating organization on the back of the taxpayer.
In all seriousness it should be called “the Racket”
racket [’rækɪt] nombre
1 Dep raqueta
2 ruido, jaleo
3 fraude, chanchullo
We are getting hosed.
Maybe we’re looking at this the wrong way. Perhaps there is an opportunity here to profoundly embarrass and annoy McCain and his Razie friends. Since we know the date and the place, why not make as big a stink was when the Demos and the RINOs were trying to pass the Shamnasty thing? Just hit him with all that we have: email, funny money contributions, regular mail, demonstrations, whatever can be used. The McCain should feel our pain like no RINO ever has. It could be done. It could leave an impression. Nothing else has a chance.
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCREW EM, any more and I’ll get banned.
Frakkin McCain

“I did not vote for George W Bush, nor did I vote for Bob Dole or George H.W. Bush”
so now we know who shares some of the blame for 8 years of bj …
What will McCain do ? He will support it. If you heard him toady he was bragging about how he has been across the asle more than Hildog or BHO. I keep asking how the GOP could allow him to be called a republican. All the great republicans of the past are rolling over in their grave.
He will support La Raza rather than worry about one little earmark. What’s $10 million dollars for a few votes? He will promise amnesty for everyone. It is certainly getting harder and harder to decide who to vote for.
Keep in mind who funds La Raza, besides the government - American corporations.
#25 GaMidnightRider. Agreed, as I refer to him as an Republicrat.
#26 JDinTX. Also agreed because it will be a tough call to go McCain or let a dhimmi take the WH for 4 yrs along with the do nothing dhimmi controlled Congress.
Maybe 4 years of leftist trashing of the USA will remind Americans that we need to regain strong America First values and policies and not PC “I need their votes”, “oh the world will hate us if…” p***y-whipped crap coming from Dims and Republicrats and we can get on with keeping our country great for future generations.
You answered your own question. Sadly the law of the land means nothing anymore and there is absolutely NOTHING that we the people can do about it. Immigration, sedition, the Constitution in general, centralized federal
governmentoppression … all in the name of feel-good laws. Being born white automatically makes you evil. Thoughts can be used to convict you of a crime even though you cannot prove intent. The rule of law in this nation of laws is history and the only remnants are subjective and open to interpretation at the slightest prospect of a person being offended or not feeling good about themselves. Upholders of the law are blatantly attacked and punished where possible. (Ramos and Campeon anyone?) Irresponsibility and even blatantly illegal acts are rewarded with government handouts at the expense of we the people.
Farewell! Farewell to all my greatness!
Am I the only one hearing Bill Pullman in Aliens here? “Game over man! Game Over!”
This still looks to me as if it is simply a bailout to the foolish bankers who were busy making loans to illegals just a couple years ago.
This election looks more and more as if it doesn’t matter who one votes for…all three ignore the citizens, taxpayers and the Constitution.
All of this, and that Mr. McCain will speak to La Raza, is so utterly depressing it makes my head hurt. It is imperative we re-take the Republican party from the ground up (local, state, and federal levels) and boot most of the current crop of weasels out of office. Clearly, at this point, we will be stuck with a real ZERO as a president, no matter who wins. This corruption and outright pandering to extremists MUST STOP. Never in my short 41 years of life have I seen our political leadership so craven and our country so poorly served. It’s truly dangerous, given the serious nature of the world we face with Islamofascism and all. God help us all.
McCain is a Republican? Does anyone still believe that? Don’t make me laugh. The man has been a RINO for years and now this rooster is turning into chickenSh**.
As in my post on the “La Raza” speech, McCain has lost my vote. I’d rather lose to a devil I know is lying to me, than a devil who is supposedly on my side!
I’ll be sending the McCain office a Mexican flag, as soon as I can find a store that sells them.
Crap, it started out to be a gorgeous day.
This describes my current state of pause as to a vote for McCain, too. So far, all said and done, the only remaining reason TO vote for a Republican (and, therefore, McCain, unfortunately, being the only option this Fall, not by my making) has been due to that hold-out consideration as to Supreme Court nominations.
I really, really, really hesitate to believe that McCain will nominate anyone who “does not share (his) values,” and in McCain’s case, I’m beginning to think that means, “no Conservative.”
Sorry, badly worded, previous comment. I meant to write that I really hesitate to believe that McCain will nominate anyone WHO DOES NOT “share (his) values” and in McCain’s case, that means, “no Conservative.”
Argh. I MEAN, he’ll nominate someone who WILL “share (his) values” and that means, “no Conservatives.”
Sorry, it’s late, I’m a bit tired.
So…what’s the bill number? I’d like to be able to refer specifically to the legislation when I write my congressmen.
Ok, best I can tell this is legislation that was introduced over a year ago and it’s status is listed as “referred to House committee on Financial Services”. Good to keep an eye on, but probably will die in committee.
If they’re going to require counseling, then either the lender or the lendee needs to be paying for it. Money that goes to bloated, inefficient lib-tanks that are notihing more than democratic mouth pieces is theft. The American taxpayer is being robbed by the democract majority, with less than nothing to show for it.
Juan and Juan will make it happen when Juan (the elder) becomes the POTUS.
Really? Are you pretending not to already know exactly what he’s going to do?
He will be absent from the vote! No doubt. He won’t have weighed in on either side, and he’ll get to continue being conservative while bowing to The Race (if they wore brown hoods around, would that help it seem more obvious?)
jaysonret #1 asks a very good question. For those with enquiring minds the answer is it is illegal to do what they are doing. The constitution is actually quite clear on the matter. There are actually a few quotes by the founding fathers that I need to research and post as well as sitting congressmen who decried these actions as being illegal and unconstitutional. I suggest we send a copy of the constitution to all the elected reps. It would have helped Larry Craig. If he knew the constitution he would have known that he could not be arrested as he was travelling from the senate to his home. For these trivial matters he gets a free pass. Check out the constitution, its in there.
Sadly, we are following the same internal degeneration into liberalism as ancient Rome. If we do not learn from those mistakes we will reap the same end.
