Aren’t you, Mr. Obama, the very incarnation of the American Dream? Born into a mixed-race family, raised by white grandparents of limited means, foreign kid with a funny name and dark skin. If America is such an awful, evil, racist place, how is it possible that you and your wife have been able to access all of the incredible opportunities that have propelled you to this point. You sit before us a Harvard-educated US Senator, on the verge of being nominated by your party to run for the highest office in the land. Why is it that you seem to believe this country lacks these opportunities, and requires a radical change in order to provide hope and opportunity, when you and your wife have experienced those things first hand?

She inadvertantly admits what conservatives say about the liberal message: they have tried, and to largely succeeded, in creating a cynicism about America and planting the notion that the good life should be entitlement, not something that requires hard work and dedication which payoff in the long run. It is important that you should always feel good about yourself, and if you don’t something must be wrong with our society. The youthful Obamaniacs that are starting to realize that the world is not interested in their self-esteem are hoping that their messiah will save them from the harsh realities of the working world.

Michelle Obama is so “scarred” by her inpoverished childhood. Yes, Michelle Obama was so scarred that it forced her to go to the lily white campus of Princeton University and then on to the upper crust Harvard Law School. After finishing at Harvard Law, Michelle Obama was so scarred by her upbringing that she found herself forced to work at the white shoe country club law firm of Sidley and Austin. This is a national law firm based in Chicago where just about everybody has a country club background and a golf club membership. A quick look at the representative sample of Sidley & Austin clients includes large insurance companies, including health insurers, drug manufacturers, investment banks and large commercial and savings banks. At every stage in her life, Michelle Obama has chosen the most elitist place to go. Even now, she is “on leave” from a cushy executive job at the University of Chicago Hospital. This is one of the most elite hospitals in the US. It is about as far from the local neighborhood clinic as you can get. I think they even serve Belgian endives and arugula in the hospital dining room.

Michelle Obama has belonged to Trinty for how long and who was her Pastor again…I am sure he made up his own definitions for words too so that is where she learned what an elitist was, not from the same book “dictionary” everyone else is using. How is “the bitter defense” working out for Obama’s campaign? Look he has a base, it is the Independents like myself and swing voters he needs to wooo and this is not how you get undecideds on your side..they are not koolaid drinkers or they wouldn’t be undecided in the first place. If Michelle Obama can’t help she should at least stick to a script that doesn’t shoot her husband’s campaign in the foot all the time. This comes from getting all their advice from the far left “that is the choir” they don’t know the first thing about Independents and Swing voters. This is a different stage of the primary race they needed to try and keep up In my opinion this shows just how Green Obama is otherwise there would be handlers in place to take care these public whine sessions didn’t occur not in public so they could end up on youtube anyway. We are an African people, and remain “true to our native land,” the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. Those of us who haven’t bought into their humble approach (which has turned out to be more effective for conservatives than for the ad companies who originally created and employed it) are always surprised to see so many willingly consume the idea that the Andover/Yale legacy, sports team owning, oil business profiteering – and, yes, arugula eating — aristocratic ex-President’s son is just a regular, beer drinking guy with an articulation problem. I find it equally hard to swallow that Wellesley/Yale graduate Clinton and millionaire-heiress spouse McCain are more “in-touch” than the guy raised by the single mom, shuttled from home to home, who started as a community organizer in the most down-at-the-heels sections of Chicago.

Guess we should really reexamine old-money Roosevelt and poncey Francophile Jefferson.

I think they even serve Belgian endives and arugula in the hospital dining room.

And you’re right. Despite then-Governor Ronald Reagan’s pledge that Davis would never again work in the UC system, she currently chairs two academic departments at UC Santa Cruz, where she’s tenured.

Wrong. They are not elitist because they achieved the “American Dream.” They are elitist because they are not appreciative of everything that they have and because they–but especially Michelle– think that talking about how OPPRESSED they were at Harvard and Princeton and how much they’ve struggled to live on a million-dollar budget is something the Average American can relate to. It seems like unnecessary whining because… well, frankly, it is. If I had the chance to go to Harvard Law, I’d go in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t be excited about having to take out and pay back loans, but I wouldn’t complain about it ad nauseum.

There’s definitely something admirable about graduating from Ivy League schools, but it’s hard to acknowledge those accomplishments when they spend so much time complaining. They may not have been born with “silver spoons in their mouths,” but they certainly act the part. Michelle clearly feels that she was entitled to her Ivy League education, even though she didn’t “test well” and probably took the spot of someone who had the scores and the grades. (That’s not a racially-fueled comment btw–I know several girls whose daddies “made a call” to get them into the colleges of their choice.)

She gets into Princeton even though she did lousy on the SAT’s – and then talks about how she’s not a good tester. She talks about how hard this land is/was for her. Victim, with a capital V.
