The who’s who of eco-hypocrites
They’re missing Arianna, Obama, and Al Gore.
But hey, it’s a start.

Aren’t we forgetting the Obamas?
The three comments on that articl are, for the most part, hopeful.
This doesn’t surprise me at all. Then they wonder why we don’t take them seriously.
Didn’t know it was a British article, so I pressed Show the previous page. Great to be home.
Oops…just noticed it. Sorry.
I read this article last night at the Daily Mail. About time someone called them on it.
Of course. All that “Global Warming” stuff is only for us peons. They need to fly in their private jets so they can tell us in person how to live “Green”.
I’m a eco-hypocrite too. I’m a supporter of nuclear power. I want us to drill in ANWAR and off our coasts. And yet I drive a high mpg Honda, turn down my thermostat to the mid-60s in the winter, recycle everything I can…
Ahhh the Daily Mail again. Funny how today it’s considered a good source of information
On a side note, the Mail does a lot of “green” stories that are really good.
But then the Conservative party in the UK, under David Cameron, is not stuck in the past like too many American conservatives. Cameron’s party realises that “green” issues are neither left or right issues…
Do as I say not as I do. typical celebrity.

I cannot recall who posts this question but every time he/she does it goes unanswered… I’m paraphrasing - “how do liberals reconcile the influx of illegals and their love affair with global warming?” If carbon footprints and human contribution is cause for concern. Why is that you wish to make matters worse with illegals?
Most enviro-geeks are hypocrites. The only true practitioners are hippies.
Redundant.
Please point out any errors, omissions and half-truths in this particular article.
WB 30!
For some reason (I’m guessing because I’m not allowed to be “entertained” at work and a showbiz page would qualify), my employer (who shall remain nameless, but their initials are AT&T) is blocking that page. Can anyone summarize so I don’t have to wait until I get home?
Personally, I always take the long way as fast as I can.
30 is asking for errors. I would join that. lgm is saying in another post “sayin’ don’t make it so” (loose quote). Show me fact. Dont give me rhetoric.
And I know that Al Gore is our champion, lord, savior, and truth-teller for the matter, and i’m SURE he doesn’t make this political at ALL. /sarc off
The fact is, there are scientists that disagree with global warming, based on the models not being right, or having a margin of error too large to present as credible. John Coleman, founder of The Weather Channel (and they’d know what they’re talking about, right?) says that global warming is “the greatest scam in history”. His published work is found at the link below.
There are many others, but we’ll start with him. William Gray, a pioneer in the field of hurricane research, says its crap. Michael Creighton has been writing for years about this as well, and he’s an educated, intelligent individual.
Because these people disagree, they’re called all sorts of names because of their dissent. Crazy, lunatic, fringe, deniers. And the MSM happily publishes it while Al Gore flies around in his Gulf Stream jet telling us to not pollute as much, while he continues to run an electric bill up at his house that rivals the yearly salary of most entry level jobs in the workplace.
I have tons of other points to make, but here’s a start.
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/11/07/weather-channel-founder-global-warming-greatest-scam-history
Well now, I think I’ll go start up my Fairlane and do a half block burn out in their honor. Yes sir, its gonna be a lovely day…………
There isn’t any - that was my point…they were classed as “euro-weenines” a few days ago… and daft comments like “Hey, Daily Mail, read this and get back to me with your finely-calibrated sense of outrage.”
Today’s story must fit into the editorial policy remit
Until our goverment does something with or without Mexico regarding the sewage that has spewed from Tijuana into California for over TEN years I refuse to believe they are truly serious about Green anything.
I’ve linked it before, just google Tijuana sewage. Over TEN years!!!
…and we will not even get into the sewage out of DC!
At least our friend Rusty does his part in keeping the DC sewage problem in check….
Wow.
I can’t find it now, but I recall a primetime news story on a US aquifer that seeps into mexico that was being taped, or diverted to supply US water needs - and the mexicans were upset that the water that they normally have gotten in the past has dried to a trickle, and they were upset with the actions from within the US.
I have never heard of the Tijuana sewage story before - and this, along with the aquifer diversion, really ticks me off.
I see. You were just miffed at the term “euroweenies”… I understand now.
Seriously, why is it so difficult to wrap your head around the fact that there will be times when one can applaud the efforts of liberals and shame them when need be as well?
I’d applaud liberals if they were honest.
They aren’t. Take for example their need to deny being socialists…..

Because, Sausage, they’re like a broken clock. They’re right twice a day. This is one of those two times.
When I see these types helping something energy efficient become affordable, I will listen. I reject the idea that ‘all you have to do is install solar panels’ or ‘all you have to do is get a hybrid’. Do they even comprehend that with most of us it’s about the $$ going out? How much is it going to cost me?! It’s like the old Steve Martin routine: ‘first you get a million dollars, now…”
The little guy is on the receiving end of so many pointed fingers coming from so many directions that is it any wonder that he may conclude that personal responsibility is for chumps and losers?

how many libtards would scream “imperialism” if the US Government got serious and tackled that toxic Mexican problem that flows right into your backyard.
I’m not sure what the rich, eco-freaks are trying to do–create a socialist world in which they are the ones who rule, or return to the early 20th century by making the cost of living so high that the middle class gets pushed down and eliminated.
Petty beyond belief.
These people prove what they say: being sensitive to global warming does not mean living in a yurt (google it) without electricity or cars. It means finding ways to do most of what we want to do in a way that doesn’t warm the planet. It’s possible to have a negative carbon footprint and still jet set around.
You would think that fresh poo draining into the Ocean would be a Bigger problem then which flippin light bulb I’m using. hello? were talk millions of gallons a day here. I have an easier time believing that is melting polar ice caps then “Climate (cough cough) Change”
lgm, the hot air you spew is killing mother nature.
Shut your cake hole. For the planet.
I think lgm may be right. Yurts with electricty and a garage for the family Prius will be available for the priviliged. Everybody else will live in caves and teepees with candles serving for both heat and light. Maybe a solar cooker to warm vegetables if lucky.
Regarding environmental hypocrites, how about adding Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to the list?
1. Regularly flies a private jet.
2. Regularly uses private cars to shuttle to and from his private jet.
3. Receives royalty payments for participation in two family-owned oil drilling companies.
4. Supports alternative sources of energy over carbon fuels, but opposes any consideration of wind power generators off of his summer estate in Massachusetts.
5. Keeps a clunker of a diesel engine boat docked on the Hudson River.
6. Has sired no less than six children on this “overpopulated” and “resource-stricken” planet.
Most ironic, he somehow parlayed a 1983 heroin bust (he pleaded guilty to the felony) into 1500 hours of “community service” at his favorite environmental organization, “Riverkeeper,” and a 24 year career as a practicing attorney and prospective 2008 Senatorial candidate from either New York or Connecticut.
How many pleaded felons are allowed to keep their law licenses and prosecute high profile cases against large US corporations?
I’m willing to drop Travolta to four stars. Flying solo in your own commercial airliner then parking it in the garage is cool enough, and he’s not that outspoken. Sure he’s burning a lot of fuel, but I’d say he’s not vocal enough to warrant a five-star rating as a hypocrite.
Brian, that HEROIN conviction was a long long time ago. He was found slumped in a public toilet in S.D. with a needle still in his vein.
A long time ago.
A long long time ago. But after Ted Kennedy killed Mary Jo Kopechne.
I think it’s pretty damned cool that Vinnie Barbarino can now fly several of his own PRIVATE JETS and marry starlets.
One at a time of course.
John Travolta is the American dream.
John Travolta’s do not exist in Cuba.
“Private Jet” is merely another member of the Cuban Army, conscripted.
30, I believe “sausage” smells a copyright violation with the term “euroweenie”.
Haven’t we all? Michelle? Anyone?
If you firmly believed that emitting carbon into the atmosphere was bad - and it contributed to the planet’s destruction, then you would think that these people would do everything in their power to keep this from happening. Especially happening from their own actions.
If - it were that bad.
Let’s set the bar for petty, shall we?
Petty is being a global warming scaremonger, as if we’re all going to fry. If i’m not mistaken, last winter was one of the coldest on record in some time. Where’s the warming there? Does global warming take a break? I didn’t think so either.
Petty is the hypocritical “Do as I say, not as I do” mentality. Negative carbon footprint? So, you just balance the amount of pollution by messing up something here, doing something good there? Why not just do the right thing all the way around? Too much like doing something right, methinks.
Phil Valentine has extensively pointed out on his talkshow, btw, about Al Gore’s hypocritical lifestyle. 20k+ a month on ELECTRICITY? Buying “carbon offsets” from a company in which he himself has stock and controlling interest, so that the money he spends comes right back to him? That’s not petty at all, for sure.
Petty, that from people who tout global warming as the most. destructive. thing. ever. refuse to listen to evidence that might disprove their claim? That they discredit with ad hominem attacks, those that would use facts, numbers, science, and data, and those that are literally the face of the weather community who would challenge global warming advocates are called quacks? Certainly not petty there either.
If you want petty, lgm, I would focus your attention to those who refuse to listen to anything but the beat of their own personal “the sky is falling” drum.
Let’s see the science. Let’s see both sides. THEN make an educated decision about whats going on.
Just my 2 cents.
lol, you didn’t hear a peep out of Al Gorbathehut until after the first day of spring.
#40 abstract said:
From what I’ve heard on the left, there aren’t two sides, and all science has been settled in their favor:
Maybe RFK Jr. is still on the “H” “smack”, “horse” “junk”.
You know “china white”!!
Perhaps ‘barricades’ is junkie lingo for ‘crack house floor.’
good point Brian…
for me though, the jury is still out.
guess that makes me a quack too, because I want some solid facts
Totally off topic, but once I read this article I browsed some of the links on the side. Read the story of the two little 5-year-old girls with cancer. I will never again complain about having a bad day.
Thanks. I did a little research and found out that a sweet court arrangement was made for Bobby Kennedy Jr.’s felony guilty plea in 1983, which allowed him to still take the Bar Exam the following year.:
The entire 3/17/84 NYT article is right here.
My question is, even though Kennedy’s felony conviction is now sealed and all court proceedings records have been shredded, media accounts still show the felony conviction to have existed. So how can he not only still practice law, but how is a convicted felon allowed to prosecute cases against corporations that have no such criminal convictions on their records to begin with?
lgm, I’m curious if you have any perspective on this matter. Just a few days ago you were contending that Oliver North (whose felony conviction was actually reversed on appeal, not simply “sealed” like Kennedy’s) is in essence, still as dubious a character as William Ayers (an admitted terrorist.)
Yes, Ollie Stone is a junkie. Maybe he could do another Kennedy movie. He could call it “RFK Junior” or “RFK JUNIOR a junkie like me!”
Nah. Stone doesn’t do non-fiction.
- lgm
Maybe, but this story is about people who have ‘carbon footprints’ 10 times greater than the people they’re preaching about conservation to. That makes them hypocrites. That was the whole point. . .or do you need someone to draw you a diagram (google it)?
Hey Yashmak, the carbon footprint thing is just rationalization.
It would appear that Al Gore is also paying THIRD WORLD people not to EAT.
He’s doing their eating for them.
Nice guy huh?
Straight from NPR:
Al Gore blames the recent cyclone in Myanmar on …
(drum roll while suspense builds)
Global Warming!
Who would have guessed?
Educate us oh great OZ. How does one get a carbon negative footprint while flying a 707 by himself with himself?
Carbon credits don’t count as there is nothing to offset the actual carbon.
P.S. Yep, I know, not very good english but I am speaking to lgm.
What happens if the world starts to cool. Do the carbon foot print people give refunds?
Wait, how did cyclones happen before global smarming…I mean, warming?
I believe I have the answer.
Global warming has been attributed to, of all things, cow farts. If someone has the link for a story, I dont right now…but that was in the news previously.
Now.
Myanmar is in the same geographical region as India, in Southeast Asia.
As a result, and because of the rather large amount of cattle found there, the massive amount of cattle gas found there has drastically altered warming patterns! It just fits too well, so it has to be the problem! Get rid of the cows, get rid of the problem!
Bovine flatulance?
How about Bovine Scatology. ROFL
I’m not making light of the tragedy that took place there, by any means. I will, however, make fun of ManBearPig when he makes ridiculous claims like this being caused by “climate change”.
#54 storm asks:
Great question, but I think the saviors of the world have already hedged themselves by converting “Global Warming” into “Climate Change.”
Now, I believe they are more concerned with “temperature fluctuation” than with their original computer model-generated prediction of a one degree increase in global temperature over the next 100 years.
By the way, what ever happened to their theories that styrofoam cups were going to punch actual holes into the ozone layer, or that breast implants, alar and DDT cause cancer? How are those theories doing?
Anyone see the gigantic volcanic eruption in Chile today?
Anyone remember scientific analysis which showed that the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption spewed more carbon soot into the atmosphere than the entire US industrial revolution?
In the larger scheme of things, the human environmental movement is nothing more than pissing into a hurricane.
Exactly.
When it’s hot out there claim “Global Warming” due to evil, selfish mankind.
When data starts suggesting things are getting cooler, claim “Climate Change” due to evil, selfish mankind.
When cyclones and hurricanes occur, it’s due to “Global Warming/Climate Change”
When you point out these things have probably happened since the dawn of earth; “Well it’s more severe now!”
Your first mistake.
I have a very nice brick wall if you’d rather.
It was North Dakota…… but I had just crossed the border
There were no cyclones. You see, before the modern industrial age humankind lived in harmony with nature in a state of eternal bliss. There was no war, famine, disease, bad weather, or cuss words. Children played happily while while the women tended their organic gardens and men went hunting (but only after making offerings to the Great Spirit and saying sorry for killing his creations) This all changed in 1980 when Reagan was elected and it has been downhill ever since.
Alright Conservatives, Listen up!
Not every ecological minded person wants socialism. Socialism is an evil that’s as bad as sharia law or the Nazis. Yes, the eco-nuts should keep politics out of it, but their liberal activism, lack of self-discipline and white guilt just keeps getting in the way.
BUT, you guys and gals can still recycle and reduce pollution. It doesn’t make you a hippie or some deluded leftist, it’s called being responsible, you know, that word you’re always touting and rightly so.
But if you REALLY want a smaller government, then use the resources wisely. There’s much more important issues than global warming right now.
So please, recycle, don’t pollute any more than you need to. For God and country!
No, but it’s awfully hard to do that. The very best thing Al Gore can do is to lead by example if he wants to go out and be Mr. Global Warming, a title he has wholeheartedly embraced for his political career.
In the UK today, if one does not wholly subscribe to the church of “Climate Change”, that person is ridiculed and chided to the point of destruction. BTW, the Brits are very careful about verbiage - this is why it is known there as “Climate Change” instead of “Global Warming”. Can’t argue a vague description like that. Mt. Pinatubo dumped more CFC’s in to the atmosphere in 1 hour than Man has in his entire history. All “Green” arguments wither at the base of that fact.
When the greens stop using petroleum based computer casings (get off the internt completely) and start riding horses again, they will cease to be hypocrites.
They will, however, still be closet Communists (Communism is bad - just had to remind you Lefties. 50 Million murdered- remember?).
