Top 10 reasons McCain should repudiate the National Council of La Raza

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 6, 2008 11:00 AM

I told you yesterday about John McCain’s plans to speak to the National Council of La Raza (The Race) in July. Here are the top 10 reasons he should repudiate the radical open borders, speech-squelching group that he has long embraced:

10. La Raza supports driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.

9. La Raza supports in-state tuition discounts for illegal alien students that are not available to law-abiding US citizens and law-abiding legal immigrants.

8. La Raza opposes cooperative immigration enforcement efforts between local, state, and federal authorities.

7. La Raza sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by your public tax dollars, including the “Aztlan Academy” in Tucson, AZ, the Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, AZ, and Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn.

6. La Raza gives mainstream cover to a poisonous subset of ideological satellites, led by Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), which the late GOP Rep. Charlie Norwood rightly characterized as “a radical racist group…[and] one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West.”

5. La Raza opposes a secure fence on the southern border.

4. Former La Raza president Raul Yzaguirre, Hillary Clinton’s Hispanic outreach advisor said this:

“US English is to Hispanics as the Ku Klux Klan is to blacks.” He was referring to US English the nation’s oldest, largest citizens’ action group dedicated to preserving the unifying role of the English language in the United States.

La Raza also pioneered Orwellian open-borders Newspeak and advised the Mexican government on how to lobby for illegal alien amnesty while avoiding the terms “illegal” and “amnesty.”

3. La Raza is currently leading a smear campaign against staunch immigration enforcement leaders and has called for TV and cable TV networks to keep immigration enforcement proponents off the airwaves–in addition to pushing for Fairness Doctrine policies to shut up their foes.

2. La Raza has consistently opposed post-9/11 national security measures at every turn.

1. The National Council of La Raza means The National Council of “The Race,” for God’s sake.

Their signature slogan, chanted at pro-illegal alien rallies from coast to coast, is “La raza unida nunca sera vencida.”

“A united [Hispanic] race will never be defeated.”

What possible good will come out of a GOP presidential candidate giving legitimacy and credibility to a sovereignty-undermining, assimilation-rejecting, law-defying group that calls itself “The Race?”

***

Victor Davis Hanson:

I agree that John McCain should not attend any conference of a group called “National Council of the Race.” In a multiracial society, Rev. Wright’s “rich white folks,” Obama’s “typical white person”, and clingers comments, and the idea of “The Race” will eventually doom us all. And it’s time no one gets a pass any more.

Jonathan Martin cluelessly suggests that McCain is “trying to show that he’s not George W. Bush by going into the lion’s den and taking hostile, unscripted questions from adversarial groups.”

Hostile? Adversarial? Do your homework, MSM.

McCain was honored by The Race in 1999, keynoted The Race’s 2004 conference, and has championed their agenda for years.

Brilliant! I despise McCain and I dread the prospect of having to vote for him as the (barely) lesser of two evils.

McCain is a disaster of a nominee and an even worse POTUS. I am tired of people haranguing people like me who point this out as not being smart to see the bigger picture.

Voting for the lesser evil is still voting for evil. Frankly the few areas where McCain is supposed to be palatable (Taxes & Judges) is not even close to a sure thing.

Hey, that French outfit was the Foreign Legion who actually do fight, they numbered about 60 to the 2000 Mexicans they faced.

They only lost because they were too few, the Mexicans too many, they ran out of ammo, made a last bayonet charge which wiped out all but two of them who were allowed to live because of their deterimination not to give up – they preferred to die than surrender.

And the Mexicans, awed at the Foreign Legion’s performance, let the two survivors take their fallen commander’s wooden arm and go free. the arm is displayed in honor at the Legion’s HQ to this day.

They killed about 800 Mexicans but were overwhelmed by overwhelming numbers.

That is the plan today, overcome us with overwhelming numbers with the assistance of profit hungry businesses and power hungry policitians.

We need to emulate the Foreign Legion – fignt – NO SURRENDER!

Sen. John McCain said Monday the tenor of the immigration debate has hurt the way Hispanic voters view the Republican Party.

Sen. John McCain lauched a Spanish-language Web site on Monday.

“I believe the majority of Hispanics share our view that the border must be secured, and the border must be secured first,” McCain said in Phoenix, Arizona.

“But they also want us to have an attitude which I think most Americans do, that these are God’s children and they must be taken care of.”

The senator from Arizona used Cinco de Mayo as a launching pad for a new Spanish-language Web site on Monday, and he emphasized his stance on immigration and border security as he tried to court the Hispanic vote.

Republican strategists have said McCain has to do well with Hispanic voters to win in November. When President Bush was re-elected in 2004, he received 44 percent of the Hispanic vote, but that was before the divisive political debate erupted over illegal immigration. Watch McCain give his message to Hispanic voters »

McCain is seen as a moderate Republican when it comes to immigration reform, but the conservative base of his party has taken a hard-line approach on the issue. See where the candidates stand on immigration

In 2005, McCain angered some in his party when he and Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy unsuccessfully pushed for a comprehensive immigration reform bill that included a path to citizenship.

McCain now says he would focus first on securing the borders before offering other ways to deal with illegal immigration.

McCain on Monday empathized with Hispanics who have been mistreated and said low-income Hispanics are often the first to lose their jobs when someone come to the United States illegally.

He underscored his view that those who came to the U.S. legally take priority over those who entered the country illegally, but said that still means the issue can be addressed “in a humane and compassionate fashion, understanding families, understanding all the aspects that affect the lives of all human beings.”

McCain, who represents a border state with a large Latino population, said he thinks he will do well among Hispanic voters, partly because of his “long record working with Hispanic leadership.”

“I know the people, I know the patriotism, I know the loyalty, I know the respect for the family, the advocacy for life,” he said. “Everything about our Hispanic voters is tailor made to the Republican message.” Watch a report on McCain’s outreach and record with Hispanics »

McCain also pledged to attend the National Council for La Raza’s convention in July, the largest national Hispanic civil rights organization which seeks to improve opportunities for Hispanic-Americans.

Asked if he would face criticism from his more conservative backers, McCain stressed his party is all encompassing.

“My party is an inclusive party, my party reaches out to every citizen, every American who shares our views and our optimism and our belief in the principles of this great nation,” he said.

“I will make sure we go to places where I may not get the majority of their votes. But the job I have is to reunite America, to make sure that people know that I will be the president of all the people whether they vote for me or not.”

Marginalizing or eliminating the middle class, traditional institutions, and education (replacing it with indoctrination), creating a more illiterate and ignorant class dependant upon the power of the ruling elites who want everyone to be beholding to them.

Amen to that. It IS communism (touted as progressivism – the use of the word “communisim” is forbidden by the progressives, as too many people can still connect the dots) . The country IS awake but distracted by the MSM’s bread and circuses (American Idoldiot and Dancing with the StarsDunces anyone?) and the promises of the Obamasaiah or Shrillary.

That’s what happens when education is dumbed down and people decised to let the government and the media do its thinking for them.

With McCain it’ll a slow spiral downward to socialism, with Shillery it’ll be at mach speed – the Obamessiah at the speed of light.

Because I like to be fair, I’ve been reading the La Raza website, looking to see what they say about things pertaining to this column.

It’s interesting, if you pay attention, to what they say.

For instance, in reviewing the driver’s license detail, if you click on the REAL ID link, you find:

Unfortunately, this new law makes all Americans less safe and undermines fundamental American values of fairness, due process, and protection of those fleeing persecution.

What does “fleeing persecution” have to do with anything else involved in getting a drivers license?

“Welcome to DMV, how can I assist you today?”

    “Yes, i’m fleeing persecution.”

    Yeah.

Their position on the DREAM ACT is laughable…shows how they are supporting illegal immigrants, even though they state on their website to the contrary.

This legislation, which provides a path to U.S. citizenship for hardworking and talented immigrant students who have been raised in the U.S.,

If they were citizens and naturalized to begin with, why would they need a path to citizenship, unless they were *GASP* ILLEGAL.

How about the law enforcement agencies working together? Here’s more:

In general, these bills and amendments would give state and local police officers the authority to enforce all federal immigration laws; give financial incentives to states and localities to comply; criminalize all immigration law violations; and place the names of any individuals believed to be in violation of immigration laws in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

If a police officer knows a person has committed, or is committing another crime, they are obligated to enforce the law, federal or not. For instance, if you get pulled over for speeding, and you have ink from a bank money pack that exploded in the robbery you just committed, they aren’t going to let the robbery slide in order to get you for speeding. Same with this. If you get pulled over for speeding and you’re illegal, then they’ve caught you in violation of another law. The fact its federal doesn’t matter. This is a case where La Raza doesnt want the right hand to know what the left hand is doing, because it would make it easier on illegal immigrants if everyone was on a different page.

By the fates, there’s more here….a literal treasure trove of misdirects and blantant garbage. I don’t even have the time in a day to go over it all. But do some more research folks…and take these people to task for it.
