Obama’s biggest general election liability: His bitter half
With Barack Obama on the verge of sewing up the Democrat presidential nomination, my syndicated column this morning looks at his biggest general election liability: The Missus. I’ll be on Fox and Friends this morning at around 7:15am to talk primary results.

Obama’s bitter half

Are you ready for hope and change? Barack Obama better hope his bitter half has a change of attitude if she expects to assume the title of first lady in November. She’s been likened to John F. Kennedy’s wife, what with her chic suits and pearls and perfectly coiffed helmet hair. But when she opens her mouth, Michelle O. is less Jackie O. and more Wendy W. — as in Wendy Whiner, the constantly kvetching Saturday Night Live character from the early 1980s.
When last our worldviews collided, back in February, the other Michelle was expounding on her lack of pride in America. I gave her myriad reasons to cheer up — from America’s role in the fall of communism and our unparalleled generosity to our nation’s superior economic system, cultural resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and ingenuity. But since then, Mrs. Obama has dug in her $500 Jimmy Choo heels and solidified her role in the 2008 presidential campaign as Queen of the Grievance-Mongers.
In one of her few (unintentionally) funny moments during a recent sit-down with comedian Stephen Colbert, Mrs. Obama claimed, “Barack and I tend to look at the positives.” That’s a side-splitter. As National Review’s Yuval Levin put it, Michelle Obama is “America’s unhappiest millionaire.” And she has the audacity to extrapolate her misery and her husband’s alleged victimization to the “vast majority of Americans.”
In South Carolina, she called America “just downright mean” and bemoaned “a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day.” And in case you hadn’t heard enough of her carping about how hard it is for a seven-figure-earning family to pay for ballet lessons and piano lessons and pay off college loans, Mrs. Oh-Woe-Is-Me was at it again on the campaign trail in Indiana and North Carolina before Tuesday’s primary.
On the stump, she warmed up (or rather, berated) supporters by complaining about how her husband is an underdog even after he keeps winning primary and caucus after primary and caucus. With a scowl etched on her face, she bellyached that “the bar is constantly changing for this man.” Call the waambulance, stat.
Barack Obama, the missus explains, is Everyman who has ever been put down by The Man. And “understand this” (a condescending verbal tic shared by both Obamas): Mrs. Obama is here to make sure you feel their pain. Which is really your pain. Because the hardships of a privileged Ivy League couple are “exactly” the same as the travails of miners or service workers or small-business owners: “So the bar has been shifting and moving in this race,” she grumbles, “but the irony is, the sad irony is, that’s exactly what is happening to most Americans in this country.”
Don’t tell Michelle about the Great Depression or the Carter Malaise. “Folks are struggling like never before,” she seethes.
Well, yes, gas prices are up. Some food prices are rising. And borrowers who bought more housing than they could afford are underwater. But “struggling like never before”? Didn’t they teach her about Hoovervilles and stagflation?
In Mrs. Obama, the fear-mongering pot meets the angst-stirring kettle: “Fear,” she froths, “creates this veil of impossibility and it is hanging over all of our heads.”
But what Mrs. Obama lacks in pride for her country and its promise she more than makes up for with bottomless pride for her husband. Her standard campaign speeches include at least a dozen references to how “proud” she is of him. And of herself. And of everyone who has overcome The Man and pierced the “veil of impossibility” to get to the polls and vote Obama. An online MSNBC report on a joint appearance by the Obamas on The Today Show in the wake of the Jeremiah Wright debacle included this tellingly narcissistic passage:
[Mrs. Obama]: “‘I’m so proud of how he has maintained his dignity, his cool, his honor.’
“Obama gently tried to interrupt, admitting to being embarrassed by the praise.
“‘But I am proud of you,” she said.
“I know,” he replied.
We all know. So get over yourself already, haughty spirit. Pride doesn’t photograph well. And bitterness leaves frown lines. Which means Botox bills. Which “struggling folks” like you and your husband simply cannot afford.
Try smiling for once. It’s cheaper.

hatelibs,
Yes. We are supposed to line down on the tracks and allow the “Hope & Change” express to just roll right over us without batting an eye. Libs…can’t live with ‘em and they won’t leave you alone.
Klaatu,
Nah. I’m black and I’m a woman. We’ll work on your spidey senses.
JWS
You left out: It’s time to try Socialism in America and since he’s black, it makes sense.
Remember the immortal words of John Street (former mayor of Philadelphia) “The brother and sisters are now in charge.”
So America is about to elect the first country hating minority President & first lady because otherwise we are a mean racist country.

Sorry bro, but the rule book clearly states that any opposition to these two is the very definition of “racist” I have a dream is turning out to be more like-I have a scheme…
So it’s going to be Michelle Obama’s “anger”, “bitterness” and “sense of entitlement” vs. Cindy McCain’s drug addiction and thievery? What a fun election this is going to be.
I weep for this country.

Maybe his wife should listen.
What about Kerry, Gore, Kennedy? What about Obama is so great? Is he the only graduate of Harvard Law? Did he win his senate election by default? What are his achievements?

We know what we know about Obama by his associates, and his wife is one of them. If she puts herself out there with her appearances and interviews, then she is fair game. So is his pastor.
Every criticism is not racism or bigotry, nor any criticism of his wife unfair. She is an accomplished lawyer, and, by definition, has complete control of everything she says or does publicly. So one can only assume that she does not make gaffes, nor her husband.
They are the “best and the brightest” and if that includes a perverse interpretation or inner hatred of America, then it is not a mistake. It is deliberate.
I have a dream:
JC Watts or Michael Steele and Condi on a ticket so the true racism & sexism party would be exposed for all to see. Republicans would be thrilled and could sit back and watch the left explode.

Where did you get this load from? I must of missed the last edition of the Enquirer.
Chris Matthews and Stephen Colbert should have a contest to see which one is more aroused by Michelle Obama. Matthews was so giddy describing her as being “just like Jackie Onasis” and then Matthews actually said: “The Obamas are cool people. They’re really really cool”. Colbert tried to top Matthews in the Michelle Obama sycophancy department. He actually asked Michelle O:” Will Barack be jealous of me?” Then Michelle Obama told Colbert that he (Colbert) could sing to her and Colbert happily obliged. Colbert also did not challenge Michelle Obama’s tall tale that growing up, her family only owned four spoons.
I always thought ‘30 pcs of silver’ was a clever name.
So is that what it boils down to? McCain has zero credentials of his own other than being a POW, so he has to find a Black or Indian or Latino running mate? How pathetic and sad!
undrseige247,
Thanks. That’s a pretty clever name as well. Very apropos.
Amen!
That Cindy McCain was addicted to drugs is a pretty well-known story reported in more than just the Enquirer. THat it matters or shouldn’t matter was my point. You can rest assured it will be discussed by some sleazier elements of the Democratic party as the election grows closer.
Cindy McCain was addicted to pain killers and stole them from the AVMT. She was investigated by the DEA.

So we are all just a bunch of bitter, suffering victims in America.
If we weren’t these desperate victims, they wouldn’t need to shower us with glorious blessings.
Such as higher taxes, nationalized health care, redistribution of wealth, and generally bigger government all around.
To be fair, I have seen some higher-minded liberal sites giving McCain a hard time for marrying an heiress. That’s unacceptable too.
But let’s not pretend that the “Republican noise machine” doesn’t attack the Dem candidate’s spouse as a matter of habit. It happens every election cycle and it’s out of line.
Cindy McCain may very well have been addicted to pain killers. Roger Clinton was her dealer?
Or was it RFK Jr.
Only a tolerant lib would morally equate a woman becoming addicted to a MEDICATION with Michelle Obama’s hate and disdain for America as she tries to become first lady.
Only a lib.
Remember that old Led Zeppelin song: “Your Time Is Gonna Come”?
Obama can’t weather the Weatherman storm with the American people..
Ayers is an unapologetic, self admitted terrorist, & Obama gladly snuggled up to him & his equally homicidal wife.

Welcome to the Responsible Party of America. It would not be that way if you were not so danged self-sufficient and willing to take responsibility for your own actions.
All you have to do is give up your freedoms, hope for a change to despair, quit being responsible for your actions and learn how to suck on the government teat and be thankful for crumbs instead of enjoying the cake and you will be all set!
Oh, and if you do happen to grab a cake that has dropped close to your spot on the floor under the table, make sure to tell everyone how bitter and nasty it was and you only ate it so some other poor unfortunate soul would not have to suffer like you did!

Not to mention her affair with a married man.
Any explanation as to why she is so angry, bitter and clings to the past as if it is some
riteWright of passage for her current feelings towards America? She’s accomplished – which begs the question – why so angry? Why is that thesis of hers is under lock and key? I don’t expect you to be able to answer of all these questions I have posed but I suspect that you’ll no doubt have a reply. I just wonder deep down as a black woman who has accomplished so much why the utter contempt for America. A quote here and there does not disprove the overall theme of his Presidential campaign which is – America = bad…Wright displays the same tendencies, Obama displays the same tendencies and his wife too. There has to be some connection. Is it a black thing that I just don’t understand? I know, I know context…

Come on Nyk I thought you’d lay out a more formidable challenge than this. Peruse Barry O’s voting record in the Senate and the professors he was gregarious with, that alone says Marxist. Since when do you judge a person’s character on what he says rather than what he does?

Looks like he had a nose job.
You should watch out. That strawman you’re building might catch fire.
Because the wives of nearly all Democratic presidential nominees have an inordinate amount of influence over their husbands’ decision making processes, they are fair game for the GOP.
In the Church I attend, we have elders and overseers. If one of them has a spouse that is out of line, it becomes obvious that they cannot manage their own household. If they cannot manage their own family, how are they to help others to manage theirs?
We are not talking about a man trying to run a small group or even a small business. We are talking about someone who wants to be put in a position to rule the most powerful nation in the free world. I think how he runs his household, the personalities of the people he chooses to associate with and ESPECIALLY the type of person he chooses to spend his life with are VERY relevant to how he feels personally and ultimately, as to how he will run the nation.
Remember Rusty, due to real-good/feel-good liberal legislation, we CAN prove intent now and prosecute people extra harshly due to their perceived thoughts. No matter whether it is just or not, it is a reality and it is such because of liberal laws of intent. Like making smoking illegal in private businesses and homes, we are just taking it to the next logical step.
Again, a deflection from the issue of Michelle Obama’s Marxist dialectal. We know she’s smart which is more than you’re giving us Nyk.

We’ll have to wait and see what he can weather. Remember, this is an unapologetic racist who has said and done so many things so wrong, each of which, taken separately and done or said by a white man, would have derailed that man’s candidacy instantly. Looking at the bag of tricks this idiot brings to the dance in it’s entirety, and the only explanation as to why he is still in this race is his race.
M Obama is actually right about this racist nation, although she could never figure it out on her own. The fact that he is still a candidate speaks to our never ending “soft” racism (as well as our unending supply of white guilt) In other words “sure he’s an idiot and a racist, but what do you expect? This is the best we can hope for from one of them. Give him a break already. I mean, what do you really expect?”
You know what, shut the hell up about Bush, you leftist pieces of crap. He’s not running, he’s going to be retired. He’s not going to be in the picture and he’ll respect the office when he’s out far more than Clinton and Carter. You can’t make any cogent defense of your leftist, Marxist positions without the Bush reference, that’s how unintelligent and weak you are. To my more eloquent and levelheaded friends here, I apologize for my rant.. but that’s all these tools deserve .
MNUSMCDavid,
No apologies necessary. BDS will live on long after January 2009.
I remember the first time I saw MO,she was on 60 minutes with Barack and the interviewer asked her if she was worried about Barack’s safety.
She said “Well, you know,Barack has to worry about that already”.She was inferring that as a black man he is already at risk, which is true,as a black man he’s 7 times more likely to be killed than a white man.The part she didn’t mention however is that he’s 8 times more likely to be killed by another black person.

(Hundred dollar ham and) Arugula eating, never been able to be proud of America, thinking millionaires suffer the same fates as working men and women, associated with known criminals …
Hand me a beer and you have my vote!
While I do not approve of Bush as much as I once did … in fact very little at all given his stance on many Conservative issues … I would like to point out that MANY Conservatives are disenfranchised but also this one other little fact you may wish to remember … BUSH IS NOT RUNNING AGAIN!
MO – the audacity of hopelessness.
We both worked hard for our pie and want the pieces to go to our heirs, not the government. (AJ, where do we buy the bubbles?)
I think it’s his narrow appeal. He will never win. Take away the promise of reparations, and that coalition will splinter … Furthermore, Marxism is not a big seller in the America

Mookie, you go first.
Paying back his and his bitter wifes college loans doesn’t count.
Obama is a lying, racist elitist with Marxist views, who has contempt for the values and intelligence of middle America, and who also has a racist wife that not only doesn’t have any pride in America, she thinks the US is a mean country….yet they are winning.
Who are the people voting for this man? Are they totally clueless or do they just hate Bush and Republicans so much that they don’t mind going down the road to the dark side?
And what do Republicans offer as an alternative? McAmnesty who has contempt for conservatives and their values, has no problem giving away our country to illegals and is clueless on the economy.
We are in big trouble.
Notice that Barack os not playing the race card. Initially that’s one of the things I admired about him… when he said that if he looses it won’t be because of race, it will be becaise he didn’t make his case. Well, he doesn’t have to play the race card. Everyone around him is doing that for him… his wife, the media, Rev. Wrong, etc.
So much for making it on the quality of your arguments and platform.

I simply don’t believe that the “theme” of Obama’s campaign, nor Michelle Obama’s speeches, has been “America=bad,” and I can’t imagine it would resonate with so many millions of Americans were that the underlying message.
Perhaps. But seeing as how Obama has seized the nomination with the help of far more than just black voters, I guess it’s a thing unrelated to color that’s misunderstood by you and many, many others on this blog.
Katieanne, you are accurate. Libs like the fact that Obama is unqualified and Marxist. But libs have a little problem. Libs do not admit that they like Marxism. Libs don’t like to be called Socialist or Communist. But they are. Libs aren’t capable of competing in a Capitalist system, so they choose collectivism and co-dependant government teat sucking.
Well Ward, I don’t mind leading in combat, and this IS a war. I will, however, blame my low class rant on the kidney stones we discovered last night. I equate that pain with having to tolerate MO’s moronic diatribes.
Jim C,
I agree, Initially I was impressed with the lack of references to race and his ability to discuss issues. But that well ran dry pretty quickly when it was revealed that his stances are the most liberal stances and that he cannot relate to the American people. Sure some demographics are going all googoogaga for him but that’s to be expected. What probably came as a shocker was the fact that not everybody fell head over heels for Obie. When the gloves came off they ran to one thing that has left them and many blacks before them untouchable – race.
Nyk saith:
When MO admits her SAT’s were not very high and we all know Harvard and Princeton accept only the highest SAT’s what is the conclusion? And again, as evidenced by my quote above, Michelle Obama running her yap isn’t doing her any favors.
Ok lgm I will feed the sea gull.
Obama did not have a daddy in Hawaii because daddy was with his other wife in Africa. Barry did go to a top prep school in Hawaii. That is not public school. He then went on the Harvard and yes being the editor is prestigious. Point is he did not live the “common” life that he likes to portray. He is a privaledged individual.
As for covering what his wife says. Well most husband and wife teams have similar views on many aspects of life. It is how they get along and live together. Her views are his views. He is a politician who is telling the likes of you whatever you want to hear so that you will elect him. The rest of us see through him.
Well, we will have to agree to disagree on the theme of Obama’s campaign. As far as it resonating with millions of people – there can be any number of explanations for that and not one of them has to be because they agree with him. You mention something that has piqued my interest though – underlying message? Is that the one about hope and change? Because the overall message is one that speaks volumes about his disdain for America.
What might that be? As far as I can tell the people that he calls family are a group of racists.
Michelle,
I just realized why exactly McCain’s been going soft on both candidates. He’s holding back, not to be gentlemanly, but to hedge his bets! He’s trying to make sure that no matter who wins the nomination, the other one will be so enraged and upset that they’ll back him! Think about it – neither one of them will ever allow the other to just walk into the nomination and score ALL the Democratic votes. Hillary or Barack Hussein, whoever loses, McCain wants to be there to ensure that they back him instead of their party’s nominee. The best way to ensure that is to keep things nice and happy now, and turn loose the cannons on the winning Democrat later on.
Look at this way – American survived the Carter and Clinton regimes.
America will make it through the reign of the Obamessiah.
I never thought anyone would make Hillary Clinton or Teresa Heinz Kerry look warm, fuzzy, and likable until Michelle Obama came along. I don’t know which is worse, Mrs. Obama’s nagging or her Little Matchgirl view of America, where everything sucks worse than Charles Dickens’s 19th century London. I think some of it is political theater for the malcontents who are natural Democratic constituents, but that makes it no easier to listen to her.
In all seriousness, if these two America haters win the White House, I would advise the government, before they move in, to take all the historical artifacts and furniture to a bunker and lock them up.
I can just see the headlines after they leave office after four years.

Is it possible that you could have a Columbia grad with a Harvard J.D. and a Princeton grad with a Harvard J.D., and that both of them could sit through Rev.Wrights racial feces throwing for 20 years and not notice the shyte hitting the fan?
Is that possible. Are they both that stupid?
MO wears the pants in that relationship. Being female, I can spot that, no problem. She tells him and he says “okay”. What a president he will make! She’s the radical, he just trails along in her shadow. He has NO BACKBONE!
Michelle Obama is not running for President. So what if she’s not a great speaker. You should take on the actual candidate, unless you want the left to discuss John McCain’s wife in detail (you don’t).
Obama earned the right to go to a fancy private school not because he was rich. He graduated with honors rather than Republican style “gentlemen’s Cs”. He earned his admission to Columbia and Harvard through academic excellence. Bush got into Yale because Daddy went there. Notice the difference?
Obama is elite in the way special forces are elite. He’s got what it takes, works hard.

I see. And since I am a conservative, looking at his voting record will only serve to make me nauseous – so I’ll pass. Likewise for his proposed policies.
Allow me to introduce you to Barack, Michelle and Rev. Wright… His message is one of hope and change; however, I am having a very difficult time with identifying the “hope” and the “change” he speaks of as I am steadily being browbeaten with the racist rantings of his family.
First of all, thank you Michelle (Malkin…) for writing such clear and insightful articles that whip up the opposition into their full, frenzied and illogical bursts of wordvomit.
Also, I like how everytime we discuss something that is a valid concern for “a majority of Americans,” the trolls defend their saints and prophets to the bitter end. We, on the other hand, are actually interested in the continued success of this nation (so that we may also help those that are underpriveledged in other nations) and therefore have no problems analyzing and criticizing our own, because we demand the best.
This makes us stronger, and I hope the Obaminions recognize that their Emperor has no clothes (save for the Jimmy Choo’s and other such “commoner” wear…)
Let’s see. President Bush had a DUI and stopped drinking completely and is subject to hatred by the left.
Ted Kennedy killed a woman while driving drunk and not only continues to drink, but is revered by liberals.
Why do we bother being conservative? Why not just become liberal and get a free pass?
Corona,we weren’t fighting a war under those two spinless twerps. We were being attacked, with many people dying while they ignored it. Yes, we had over 200 Marines die under Reagan with no response, and I held that against him. Now were’re at war with a faceless enemy who wants all Americans dead, and if Obummer sits in the Oval Office, thousands will do just that. Obummer will bring our military home, kiss Iran’s butt, do away with the safe guards installed by President Bush, and if there’s still a country left when an opening or openings come on the SCOTUS, he’ll appoint a Judge, or Judges who will disregard the Constitution and turn this Great Nation into a socialist state.
No, I don’t believe we will survive thru the reign of Obamessiah, not as The United States Of America, anyway. But that’s my opinion, and believe me, it scares me to death thinking of having Obummer as the next Commander-in-Chief.
It’s still pretty early in the Pacific – is this a joke? If not, where do you live that you have never seen an attractive black woman? Yikes. But it’s not her looks that worry me…

I’m going to vote for McCain against either HRC or Obama. I don’t care about Bill Ayers, Bill Clinton, “Reverend” Wright, “Reverend” Hagee, Michelle Obama, Cindy McCain or any of the other extraneous garbage that comes up on a daily basis and has been coming up since this 2008 race started in 1953. I think a focus on the candidates’ policies is all that one needs (all the candidates have clearly spelled them out) to make their choice. Everything else is soap opera, but admittedly good drama for blogs and newspapers.
John Edwards would be winning if he received 90 percent of the black vote.
Realistically…it’s ‘hope for change’.
Henryinga, what Obama will do if he gets elected isn’t certain. What is certain is that he isn’t qualified, nor does he have the required judgement to be President. Liberals are dreamers, schemers and Marxists. They don’t care about qualifications, experience, or jdugement. They care about Socialism, taxes and power.
They would elect Britney Spears if she promised them more Socialism and your money.
The distinction that matters is that Michelle Obama is going out in public and giving speeches in support of her husband’s candidacy.
She has purposefully put herself in the line of fire. To decry the richly-deserved criticism she gets in return is akin to saying, “Mommy! He hit me back!”
Maybe it’s just a lack of press coverage, but I’m groping for examples of where/when the wives of Republican candidates have done the same thing as Hillary Clinton, Teresa Heinz and Michelle Obama – mouthing off in public speaking engagements, saying controversial if not asinine things, and – at least in Hillary’s case, actually making the term “co-presidency” a reality.
Check of proof: If Barbara or Laura Bush or Cynthia McCain had said similarly foolish things in speeches as Teresa Heinz (”Shove it!” “Let them go naked!”) and Michelle Obama, would not the media descend on them like the Furies of Greek mythology?
After all, Nancy Reagan uttered the words, “Just say no” and libs went wild for years afterwards.
If Michelle Obama could just pull in the reins on her ego and let her husband do the campaigning, she wouldn’t be an issue. But she can’t, so she is.
No matter what happens in the Pres election in November I know one thing -
time to get the Dems out of Congress Get ready to vote people – if Obama is in the WH we will need a majority in the House and Senate to combat any lame crud he tries while Pres.
I, for one, don’t believe she lacks education or talent.
I do believe she lacks tact or pride in her country. Call it what it is.
lgm, that has to be one of the most ignorant, incorrect comparisons that I’ve seen you post to date. Your comparison between Obama, and the honorable members of our special forces, makes me sick. He doesn’t belong in the same zipcode with those folks, nor does he deserve to be in a position to command them. He’s shown by his willingness to capitulate to Iran (among others), that he’s a spineless coward.
You’re dismissed.
Michelle, great column!
You put it together … nicely!
Yes, it is such a good that we have our own votes…who knows for how long under either Marxist candidate, because, gosh, voting is one of those pesky individual rights that, in the end, MoveOn and the Democratic party cannot stand. In fact, they know better how we all want to, or should vote, so it would be best to just allow them to vote for us.
I bet if you asked an Obaminion if he/she would be willing to give up their vote on the condition that Barack Obama would vote for them on every issue for the rest of his/her life…many of them would agree to this.
Interesting and concise way of putting the dangerous misconception that “liberals” hold:
They think that the more power you give your government, the more rights you will have.
(I cannot remember the name of the man who wrote this…apologies for not being able to cite correctly.)
Question. If some gold toofed rapper and his baby momma were running around spouting the VERY SAME stuff as Barry and his lovely wife do, what word would everyone use to describe them? You know, the man keepin everyone down, and that damn bar being constantly movin, and lecturing us about them “typical white people”, and no way to get ahead in this damn racist country, etc. Think about it. Two privileged, rich, black folks, running around like they got street cred, and running on a platform of how effing unjust and unfair and racist this country is-the very same country that is so racist and terrible, it allowed both of them to not only succeed in life, but to turn around and trash it without fear of any racist retribution. Hell, they get praised for their forward thinking by the same “typical” white people they trash!
Agreed abstractmind – well said.
Libocrat, you’re right of course about what’s not certain. I’m basing my opinion on what Obummer’s said about his type of Judge for the SCOTUS, wanting to talk to Iran, and bringing the troops home, no matter what the Generals on the ground recommend. I could be wrong, of course, but I don’t think so.
LGM #49
This kind of thinking is retarded. My Father and Mother grew up picking produce in the California farming valleys. They used military service to vault themselves out of poverty and into the lower levels of the middle class in 1957.
I consider their story to represent PART of the best of America. But I also consider my own story- as their lower middle class son- who used the education my Father paid for (no student loans)and I helped pay off by working my way through school- as PART of the best of America.
And now that poverty is two full generations in the rear view mirror for my family (my kids are rackin it up and heading higher in professional occupations), and the inherited wealth that will transfer to them and my grandchildren and great grandchildren(not here yet- but there is practical hope)is in the vault: I consider that to be PART of the best of America.
Just because people inherit economic standing doesnt mean they are necessarily less than those who do not. The economic preservation of wealth and profitable economic status is also PART of the best of America.
There is a popular sentiment that people who inherit are just beer drinking frat boys and wastrel chickadees: those folks just happen to be the most visible actors on a very huge stage.
Some of the wealthiest people in the world were my classmates in college: folks whose great grandfathers invented the electric lights that were afixed to coal miner’s hardhats, inventors of polymers for Teflon and Prell shampoo, developers of the original banana republics in Latin America—- huge family fortunes.
They were not austentatious in any respect and went out and made their own way in professions and crafts in manners that defy the imagination.
That is part of the best of America.
Jesus Obama (hat tip Libocrat) and Mikey are part of the best of America with regard to their achievements too. I will grant them that.
But they are ignoring the wise words of a jazz sage (it was either Parker or Trane) who said “If you don’t live it it aint gonna come outta your horn.”
And neither Clinton nor OFawna have lived what they are playing on the big stage.
Sadly enough, although not part of the best of American, it is the essence of political grandstanding in America.
Michelle Obama by the way is a bitter woman who has allowed herself to be torn in half by the inferiorizing power of racism (racial oppression of being black) and the uplifting experience of being groomed socially and professionally. I have seen this thousands of time in my years as a teacher and a business man— and few of us non-whites survive that in a way that is edifying enough to where we can attract positive people in positive ways into a sphere of influence that is inspiring.
Please rescue me if i am wrong, 30 pcs
Time for more Joe.
Prediction: Should Barrack Hussein Obama be elected POTUS, he will “convert” to Islam
The Apostate will go home to roost.
We are that close to a symbolic takeover.
I have to agree with lgm on this one.
Michelle isn’t RUNNING for President.
She is however RUNNING her mouth, and it isn’t pretty.
Thanks liberty, I try.
And libocrat…well put.
I know some are saying “she’s not running, dont attack her”, and so on.
But when she makes herself the target by opening her own mouth and inserting her foot into it repeatedly…
Even people who dont want conservatives to point out her rhetoric, would be remiss to not point out that she’s bringing this down on herself. It’s not that she shouldnt be able to speak in public. She should, and has every right to, of course.
But I would imagine that someone in her very public position, with everything riding on how people percieve her and her husband…that she’d at least be more tactful and a little less venomous.
But then again, how one speaks shows their character as well.
Just saying

But some of her supporters think she should.
Even if she isn’t, she left her job to campaign and speak full-time on this opportunity. Are opponents of her views supposed to sit silent and not respond when she engages because of her spousal status? If so, your argument would be stronger if you chose a silent partner like Howard Dean’s wife, who refused to get involved. Not a full-time advocate who campaigns and speaks every day, like Michelle Obama.
Is there evidence that Barack’s political opponents have not been taking him on? I believe even Hillary has just withdrawn another $8 million to continue doing just that, for now.
A quick Google search shows that you are a little late to this liberal party, but I look forward to your fair and balanced condemnation of those, on your side of the aisle, who violate this line that you continue to draw in the sand.
Actually, the Punahou School in Oahu states that they accept students from the relatives of rich alumnae, students who are academically qualified, and students who represent other “non-academic” qualities like diversity. Are you privy to Obama’s status for selection?
John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy and RFK Jr. are “Republicans?”
Well, he certainly didn’t get any admissions points for “racial diversity.”
I’m sure there are a few G.B.s, SEALS, and Force Recons who might differ on your last point!

Come on, getting cum laude is like getting third place at the track meet.
“Veil of impossibility”. What does that even mean? “Audacity of Hope”?. Apparently Obama’s supporters like five dollar words crammed together in a seemingly meaningless way. He’ll get ninety percent of the sucker vote. If they’re looking for “Change”, they better be careful or they will surely get it.
A sad day at MM. bear1909 has officially jumped the shark. That was the single most ridiculous post in the history of this blog.
While i’m reading the news, and its related…
MM’s column for today ended with the advice to smile.
Fox News has this on their website currently about why conservatives are happier than liberals.
Enjoy!

Bear1909,
You said it better than I ever could have. Rock on!
Appreciate your posts, 30 pcs of silver #142. As a Christian, I am wanting to ask you why you think so many “so called” black churches claim to be conservative, but vote for candidates who support abortion, stem cell research, homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and very liberal ideas that are in juxtaposition with Christian teachings. This is what I hear from Michelle Obama and I am sorry for her.
