Superdelegate for sale; Hillary plays the white card
Two quick items:
1) A Democrat superdelegate wants $20 million for his vote–which he then pledges to fork over to Democrat Hispandering efforts to register Mexican-American voters.
Question: How did this guy become a superdelegate? What qualifications did he have to meet?
In this tight battle for the democratic nomination we’ve heard a lot about the candidates courting super-delegates.
But one superdelegate is courting the candidates. He says he’ll sell his vote for a price. A very high price: $20 million.
Sacramento superdelegate Steven Ybarra says that eight-figure price is peanuts for the presidency. When asked whether it was right to offer what is clearly a quid pro quo? “Yeah, absolutely. People do it all the time,” answered Ybarra. But, not like this. Not in public, and not for such big bucks. It begs the question. Is he crazy? “Nobody’s said I’m crazy,” said Ybarra.
Ybarra wants every cent of the $20 million to go toward registering and educating eligible Mexican-American voters, who he calls the key to the White House.
2) Meanwhile, Hillary’s playing the white card (see also Begala)–and the Obama-supporting nutroots are not happy:
Clinton says Obama’s support among “hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again:” In an interview Wednesday with USA TODAY, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said that she would be the stronger nominee because she appeals to a wider coalition of voters — including whites who have not supported Barack Obama in recent contests. “I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” she said. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article that she said “found how Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”
…The political blogosphere — particularly the liberal side — is starting to react to Clinton’s comments. Pam Spaulding at Pam’s House Blend calls Clinton’s words “race-baiting.” ELROD at The Moderate Voice says it was “an appalling gaffe that goes well beyond (Barack Obama’s) Bittergate comment.” The Jed Report writes that “Clinton is making these comments to get attention. Her campaign is broke and she needs free media. She knows that the press loves to cover conflict, especially this kind of conflict. She’s serving up raw meat on a platter, consequences be damned.”
Really going to miss these food fights.

The idea of superdelegates can only be born from the mind of a democrat.
What an absolute CROCK. I hope that implement implodes the DNC.
Don’t worry, we’ve got La Raza in our back pock…hey, where’d it go?
Well, it sure didn’t seem to help the Mondale campaign. It doesn’t seem to be helping this one, but then the philosophy of the socialist Democrats is based on elitism – we know better than you, therefore the Superdelegates’ votes count for much more than thousands of primary votes from the average Joe.
Blatant extortion. I wonder if he’s telling the candidates they need new jukeboxes too.
HRC’s comments were not race-baiting; they were downright racist. She says that white Americans are the hard-working, indeed the “working” Americans. Oh. My. Gosh. Still, it’s a show of her true colors.
Keep it up, Hill. We love watching you self-destruct.
So then what exactly is the office of POTUS really worth? It is a worth above any financial gain. The POTUS is responsible for 300 million lives, that is peanuts???
Gawd is she awful!
Wow. Hard-working Americans = White Americans? If any GOP politician would make any comment that comes even close to this, all h**l would break loose. This strikes me as a really racist comment – just like #5 vikisoup said. Absolutely unbelievable that this gets a pass by the MSM.
I’ll offer my vote for the bargain price of $5,000,000. Is anyone interested?
My old father put it best; he said the Democrats are looking for a job. They are not looking to serve their country as President. And he grew up only voting Democrat. Not anymore.
As for the question of super-delegate qualification:
“Steven J. Ybarra J.D. is a retired attorney who specializes in management consulting for public and private industry. He has served as the Deputy Secretary of the California Health and Welfare Agency, General Counsel for the Mental Health Division of the Department of Health for American Samoa, Executive Assistant for the Director of the Department of Human Services for the District of Columbia and various other public sector jobs.
He is the Former Chair of the Chicano Latino Caucus of the Democratic Party and as a member of the DNC he is the Pacific Regional Vice Chair for the DNC Hispanic Caucus for the seven western states and possesions. He also serves as a member of the Executive Board of the California Democratic Party. ”

Maybe if McCain is officially endorsed by “The Race” he will swich his party affiliation and vote GOP?
She pursuing her campaign like the last vote didn’t count. Operation Chaos continues! Obama’s campaign is now saying it was Rush’s fault he lost Indiana. They may well be right. Let the fun continue!
This is what Ybarra believes is democracy in action? This guy should be stripped of his office for even suggesting this, and run out of town on a rail.
Here comes our new form of government! The Extortionocracy!
Is this supposed to be a surprise? Superdelegates can receive money. If you didn’t know this, where have you been? Did everyone but me not see this coming? Greed, politics and corruption are the holy trinity of DC and there is no difference between a (D) or an (R) . If the Republicans had a close delegate race (which we were robbed of), we would see the same thing happening with the (R)’s. It sucks to be an (R) superdelegate right now as their vote is worth exactly squat!
Ah yes…. “Super Delegates” … nothing better that a class of people who have more privileges and power than the great unwashed “Non-Super Delegates”.
Democrats… my egalitarian idols… NOT
===========
BTW is playing the “the white card” anything akin to playing “the race card”? I’m getting my colors mixed up.
That’s a little steep. I bet we can get an illegal’s vote for a fraction of that.
all of this is just par for the course.
Soap is right though, all the way around…people should have seen this coming.
I wonder though…are they going to pay in dollars, or pesos?
tre #9
My vote for only $4,000,000
cash
small, unmarked bills
Any artistic types out there? I would love to see a cartoon superhero with SD on his or her costume. Need to include special powers.
How about paying in Iraqi dinars? Now that would be funny!
Oh and deliver it in a freezer…..
I’d vote for Osama Bin Laden for 20 million… geez, 1 vote whoop de doo… lmao
No votes for sale on eb@y yet or does eb@y not allow this to be listed anymore?
With McCain as my default choice, I am thinking of listing my vote too.
Why sure he does. Isn’t this the way it is done south of the border?
Oh wait…Is that racist of me to suggest?
Or at the very least prosecuted for bribery of a gov’t official.
Never mind, he’s in California. No chance of that happening.
Will vote for cash! I can be bought, but I’m not cheap. I would prefer a couple of suit cases with $10,000,000 each used bills no sequential $100 – $20 denominations or better yet how about in gold coins since the value of the US dollar is dropping too fast.
I’m not cheap but I can be had…
I don’t know if this is a good thing to be bragging about. It struck me as the less educated you were the more likely you will be supporting her.
Definitely sounds elitist to me….
Yes, like everything else Democrat, the rules are so confusing even they can’t figure them out. They can’t run it like Republicans. Oh no, they need SUPERdeligates to get the same job done! And look at the mess its all causing. And once again they wanna change rules in the middle of the game! I think the most entertaining thing is watching Dean lose total control of the DNC. Man I love popcorn.
The DNC implosion is eminent because of the FLA/Michigan debacle..
It’s coming, mark my words. ~Dan Lee
Dinars…hmm, interesting.
We can only have a freezer involved if a democrat is making the deal.
Makes me wonder if McCain owns a freezer…………..
You guys are getting it all wrong though! You get $5,000 from McCain. A week later, you go to Obama, and say “what can you do for me?” Get $10,000, and go back to McCain.
Lather, rince, repeat
And presto!
Are we corrupt for selling our votes, or are we good capitalists for seeing an opportunity and taking advantage of it?
Since I have a family to support, I really don’t care which.
tre…
democrats see us as corrupt capitalists anyway…so really, its a win win for ya
Johnny, I wonder if she wasn’t trying to rile up white voters by taking a veiled crack at affirmative action type programs, & the fact that there’s no “White Scholarships” to speak of? Kind of how there’s no “White Gospel Awards”..
~Dan Lee
I’m not cheap, but I am easy!

If Obama wins the general election, Hillary is gone until 2016…if she does everything she can to make him lose, she gets to try it again in 2012.
2012 – Hillary will be 65 years old.
2016 – Hillary will be 69 years old.
tick tock…
If you were looking for a way to have a large amount of people that, when they voted, would single handily sway the nomination process and all you need to do is bribe them with cash, what would you create? The Superdelegate. I agree with Craig, a total crock.
As a black moral conservative, HRC is showing the true colors of the Democratic party. Here a black candidate plays by the DNC rules, out distances her in the primaries; she now is trying to buy a Michigan/Florida redo, violated the rules by putting her name on the ballot, disses the caucuses, won’t quit because she wants to make sure the racist Democrat whites won’t cross over vote for McCain. Black people see what your loyalty to the Democrats and the Clintons get you; when you win by the rules; the Clintons and their followers still won’t let win. She wants you to know and maybe not understand that the first black president’s wife will represent you better?
I suppose you’re right, adstractmind.
In that case, I prefer cash, please.
apostle53 #36, one of the things that struck me about this as well was that Obama did play by the rules, even though it cost him votes and perhaps alienated some voters. He did what he agreed to do (whether one agrees it was the right thing to do or not), and surprise! HRC wants to wrestle away an ill-gotten gain from this. I’m surprised he didn’t think this would happen, since he went through the Clinton years just like the rest of this country, and witnessed what they were (and are) capable of.
Why don’t we use collective bargaining? Call ourselves the Disenfranchised Conservative Voter’s Union and then vote for the highest bidder. Tre might not get $5,000,000 for his vote, but at least we can afford some lubricant for the shafting we’re going to get in Novemeber.
Expect upcoming endorsement of Hillary by David Duke, the KKK, Stormfront, the National Alliance, and any organization which believes in WHITE PRIDE and sees anyone who doesn’t as a RACE TRAITOR.
Retrospect:
Ku Klux Klan Endorses Obama
Caveat — it’s a spoof!
What Barack really needs to worry about now is a sudden suicide from a self inflicted heart attack. It’s been know to happen to people that have been a threat to the Clinton war machine. Just ask Vince Foster(among others).
He has poor judgement.
He’s only known about the Clintons for about 18 years…it takes him 20 years to get to ‘know’ someone. So we’ll need to give him 5 or 6 terms.
Superdelegates, a euphemism for big-shot liberal jerks with clout.
Isn’t pandering to sell votes, like, illegal?
#43 & #44, I agree. P.S. I think BHO should hire a food taster for the next several months.
I am so impressed with the infinite wisdom of the democrats to create a system to choose a candiate by making the ordinary voter irrelevant. This whole folly is beyond stupid.
It’s a system setup for the elite…that surprises you?
Look how low this country has degraded to… open extortion without any remorse. The stuff I see and hear from day to day proves to me in are in a state of anarchy and sinking quickly. BY the way I’ll sell my vote with legal identification for $500,000. If everyone is selling out I guess I need not fight it anymore. If you can’t beat them, join them. I am quitting my job next so I can get help on my mortgage and get my kids put through college for free. Why should I beat my head against the wall and work my ass off anymore.
This is fun, really, but it would have been so much better if only we had a true Republican nominee. I prefer voting for someone instead of against someone else.
Here’s an insightful comment on race and the democratic vote this year from an abcnews.com story:
So is crossing a border into a country that you are not authorized to be in, but I doubt that would cross a democrap’s mind if it meant votes.
Superdelegates… LOL I guess some animals really are more equal than others.
I’m enjoying seeing her squirm, knowing there’s no way she’s getting the nomination. I would enjoy my pop corn more while watching her, if someone besides obummer was getting the nod.
The Nevada GOP has done about the same – 1347 elected delegates convened to hear that a selected committee secretly selected a slate of recommended delegates, and the state convention was gaveled suspended early – no new date yet set to resume.
In the words of the inimitable Jed Clampett, “Pityful, just pityful.”
Selling votes in private is illegal; is it legal to advertise it for sale?
There’s no way in hell this country would elect an almost 70-year-old woman in 2012. No way. Uh-uh. Never happen.
Has the pipeline of laundered Chinese cash dried up yet?
Maybe Ickes could get the Chinese to front the money to Ybarra, so that they don’t lose their investment in the Clintons.
I saw it coming when only her name was on the ballot. I knew she would double cross the others and demand the FL and MI votes count. If people think their votes won’t count, they DON’T go to the polls. Duh. Except her people who knew she would reneg at some future date and the other candidates would be screwed. And don’t forget, when she promised NOT to campaign, she showed up in FL to “thank her campaign workers”. Yeah, right.
She is a liar and a cheat. Who would want her as any kind of representative????
Democrats stand for EVERYTHING that is unjust, immoral, unethical, unprofitable, obscene, perverted, vile and EVIL.
Whew! I’m glad I’M not a Democrat!!
Mookie #58, is that an *ageist* comment?
Ybarra sounds like a graduate of the lgm/Rusty School of Ethics.
Read between the lines.
Money for a vote: isn’t that a bribe?
