Oopsie! Obama adviser a little too chummy with Hamas.
Under the bus with you! On a Friday afternoon, while nobody’s watching:
One of Barack Obama’s Middle East policy advisers disclosed today that he had held meetings with the militant Palestinian group Hamas - prompting the likely Democratic nominee to sever all links with him.
Robert Malley told The Times he had regularly been in contact with Hamas, which controls Gaza but is listed by the US State Department as a terrorist organisation. Such talks, he stressed, were related to his work for a conflict resolution think tank and had no connection with his position on Mr Obama’s Middle East advisory council.
“I’ve never hidden the fact that in my job with the International Crisis Group I meet all kinds of people,” he added.
But Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for Mr Obama, responded swiftly, saying: “Rob Malley has, like hundreds of other experts, provided informal advice to the campaign in the past. He has no formal role in the campaign and he will not play any role in the future.”

MORE: O’Malley’s group, the International Crisis Group (which is funded by Soros), made a recent appearance in these virtual pages here–condemning the U.S. airstrike that disintegrated the head of Al-Qaeda in Somalia.
It’s not just Hamas he’s chummy with: here’s O’Malley advocating negotiations with recently-thwarted nuclear aspirant Syria. That’s not as surprising, though: another adviser, Carter-era leftover Zbigniew Brzezinski, has actually gone to Syria to negotiate, and Obama has advocated doing so himself once he’s in office.
Obama’s magnificent jeans declined to comment.
AFTERTHOUGHT: Where did this “under the bus” saying come from? Newsweek doesn’t like it any more.

dagneyt, what alot of people don’t understand is that the “anti-christ” will be almost universaly loved at first. To the point many will consider him god, or godlike. This is why I knew bush could never be the anti-christ like some liberals thought. He simply is not well liked enough.

brooklyn red, One thing I learned in bosnia and macedonia is that the fight can change in a heartbeat in a completely unexpected way. In bosnia, the serbs and muslims were intermarrying and were having dinner at each others homes literaly days before the war. All it took were a few people to start the cycle of violence. In bosnia what the serbs did was they would enter a serb house and say we are going to kill a family tonight, it can be yours or a muslim family. So of course they serbs pointed out a muslim house and the muslims were slaughtered. From there the muslims started doing the same and the cycle just grew and grew. That may not work here exactly that way but you see how it can start. There is enough of a base of ill feelings and division here in the usa to do something similar. In fact in some ways it is worse here. It would not suprise me to see wide spread violence if McCain wins in november because americans have no idea how bad it can get and how quickly it could get there.
Man we really have the “Hobson’s Choice” when it comes to the two evils this year. Dakini, we have had close to 40 years of political correctness being “preached” to our children in school. Many of Obama’s biggest supporters are those of college age and those slightly older. I think we are going to see a lot of this: i.e. Obama playing whack-a-mole with his more zealous aides and supporters, those who are looking forward a little too eagerly to taking back Washington.
