BDS alert: Democrat Ky. governor’s Bush assassination humor
I’ve got a whole blog category on the Left’s assassination chic and a whole chapter on the subject in Unhinged. It’s just the way they are.
The latest entry comes from Democrat Kentucky governor Steve Beshear, via Jim Hoft:
Gov. Steve Beshear, who has remained neutral during the presidential primary and who will serve as a Kentucky superdelegate at the national convention in August, avoided talking about the Democratic candidates by criticizing President Bush.
“When I mention that Democrats are problem solvers, I can think of only one Republican who can be a problem solver — that is Vice President Dick Cheney if he would just take George on a hunting trip,” Beshear said. Cheney accidentally shot fellow quail hunter Harry Whittington in Texas in 2006.
He made the joke at a Democrat party fund-raiser.
No word on whether the littlest Bush-hater was a VIP guest.

So original. So fantabulistic.
Yeah. The question was – what about those Democratic candidates???
BDS will live on forever more…
Has there ever been a case when an elected Republican has made a public joke about killing a Democrat President? I am unable to remember one.
Maybe he needs to have the Secret Service pay him a visit, so he can clarify his remarks.
Dejack; I’m sure if there was, we’d have had headlines and screaming for about a week. It’s just that when a Dem does it, well, that’s ‘different, see?
Democrat Kentucky governor Steve Beshear…now, there’s a professional person for you.
It was just a poor joke – a real poor joke. Kinda along the line of – his chances of survival are better with Cheney then Kennedy.
I wouldn’t call it assassination. Death wish, yes, but assassination, no.
But, but Cheney’s friend survived…maybe Stevie boy isn’t aware of that. Nevermind he has BDS it doesn’t matter.
Nevermind. He has BDS, it doesn’t matter.
Pretty funny from someone who probably married his cousin (do they still do that in Kentucky?). I bet the governor’s mansion is a double-wide.
Guess he
thinks(sorry, democrats don’t think they feel) Cheney would be a better President. So can I joke “Kennedy should take Hillary for a ride”?
Sure. As long as he does not take his VP for a ride. We are gonna need him.
I’m just waiting for the day Barack commits Arkancide. To be clear, I don’t want that to happen, but I wouldn’t put it past the Clintons given their lust for power.
McCain’s VP – duh.
About as classless as Beshear’s joke. The redneck/inbread/trailer schtick gets old fast.
Incidentally, it the governor’s mansion was a double-wide, why would you care? As a tax & spend Democrat, that would be the least he could do for KY. Are you going to judge someone’s worth based on the kind of roof over their head? I choose to judge this lowlife based on his words and his sentiments, not on his home.
Sounds like that moron Alan Hevesi when he said he wanted to shoot Bush between the eyes. Disgraceful…
inbred*
I need some lunch.
I just wish for once, politicians would act professional and be representative of the United States of America. This is embarrasing and I am ashamed of our elected officials. No wonder the rest of the world, not that I totally give a crap, scoffs at us. President Bush should have him investigated by the secret service, if not to prove a point.
30 pieces of silver
BDS is kind of like Elvis…he isn’t really dead in people’s minds is he?
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding…..We have a winner. There was a time that the office of the POTUS meant something to people. Now, it’s just an empty symbol.
The only Democratic governor of Kentucky I can name is Happy Chandler. It was a different time, different party too.
As a Kentuckian, I can assure you that we don’t “marry our cousins” here. Beshear is just a classless jerk who needs to be visited by the secret service for making a threat against the President. We have a lovely Governor’s Mansion here and this is a wonderful state to visit and live in. We just have a pathetic gov. I hope the people of other states aren’t judged on their elected officials. If they are there aren’t many states worth visiting are there? BTW~Ever heard of Mitch McConnell or Jim Bunning?
love2rumba,
BDS Lives!
Now if people start to see Bush’s face in rain puddles… then we will know.
yeah, that was before our President of the United States was diddling with Monica Lewinsky in our Oval office..funny how that effects people
Ok, I give up. I’m either having a brain fart or I’m just not as hip as I should be. Who or what is or was BDS?
I sympathize with your comments and sentiments kyconservative, but it is one barometer to judge and form an opinion on the bulk of a state’s people.
How many people from places other than Massachusetts think of the people there as staunch Americans in the mold of our colonial forefathers when they see that they keep putting people like Kerry and Kennedy (and their policies) in office all the time in overwhelming numbers?
Accidently killing one of your best friends while doing anything is not funny.
Also, many of mention of Kennedy driving Clinton. Shes already on her way to a political grave, alcohol and a vehicle will make it probably a smoother ride, but then you got Bill in the car, and believe me, he’s frisky.
BDS = Bush Derangement Syndrome Its a disease, No known cure.
I just sent “my governor” an e-mail expressing my extreme disappontment as a Kentuckian and I told him that he owes the President a personal and a public apology. I’m not looking for anything to happen, but I am going to send this info out to my fellow young republicans group and encourage them to do the same.
I’ve heard of Tim “raising your car tax today” Kaine of VA. He’s the guy that looks like Teb from Galaxy Quest.
Bush Derangement Syndrome.
In another reference;
Bachelor of Dental Surgeons Degree.
SICK!!!!!!!!
kyconservative:
I did not mean to slam the entire state. I shouldn’t throw stones – I live in California!
Bush Derangement Syndrome
Wonder how they would respond to a joke like that about Obama going on a hunting trip with Hillary and her dad.
It’s stupid. Just plain stupid. It’s yet another example of acceptable hate from the left.
Kyconservative#30; good for you. Keep poundin’ ‘em!
The joke about killing Bush was poor taste but not unusual for a Democrat. This statement is what really jumps out at me. Democrats are problem solvers? A large part of this nations problems are the result of zealous Democrats trying to solve problems they know nothing about. If they would just follow their instincts and dedicate their time to writing music, chasing celebrities, and going to cuddle parties and allow the adults to run the government we wouldn’t have so many problems in need of solutions.
Me too… I’m from Illinois.
I’m a Kentucky resident. I just emailed Gov. Beshear. I can’t get the link to work, but governor.ky.gov/contact.htm took me straight to an email page.
“Democrats are problem solvers…”
Don’t you know that the first Democratic President, Andrew “Old Hickory” Jackson is spinning in his grave over how his party has been corrupted by socialists and communists.
I thought that any threat made against the President, even if it’s a “joke”, is taken seriously and investigated by the Secret Service. When Eminem “sang” (if one calls rap “music”) about wanting to see the President dead, he was investigated.
I don’t see that any humor is actually meant in remarks like this from Democrats. It seems more like an unfulfilled desire or wishful thinking out loud from those suffering from BDS, or its related syndromes: RDS* (Republican Derangement Syndrome) and CDS (Conservative Derangement Syndrome.
Even the inadvertant mention of “Bush”, “Republican” or “Conservative”, in other than the most negative ways, often results in hyperventilation, appoplexy, and/or foaming at the mouth of those present.

RI used to have a law on the books which permitted shooting any MA resident who crossed the border. It was removed prior to Kennedy and Kerry running for the white house.
This is not the most severe BDS joke I’ve heard, but I agree with others in this forum that the Secret Service should pay him a visit.

Actually, the grill marks on the tortilla I just ate did kinda look like McCain…
MDS?,
Hey, don’t look to McCain to approve of going after this Democrat…
I wonder what’s next: a Democrat governor who openly calls to mob Bush and drag him to the guillotine?
It feels like the Democrats are more enchanted with the French Revolution than the American Revolution.

Me too, KYC.
Neither am I.
It’s a shame that Beshear – a trial attorney who racked up a scandalous twenty-plus million dollar fee for his law firm by mercilessly breaking the back of KY’s insurance industry, adding to the insurance costs and lost investments of countless Kentuckians – was elected KY governor and is seen as representing the views of a majority of our state’s citizens when, clearly, he does not.
I guess Democrats not only do not respect the office of President, they also do not respect the law. Maybe this ridge runner governor should speak to the secret service about his comments. I would like to hear a tape of his rancid explanation of his comments.
George Bush is not running, George Bush is not running, George Bush is not running. There, I said it 3 times. Just like a Muslim divorce. Now get over it, Lib turd burpers.
I can’t add anything already not said very well by kyconservative. As a fellow Kentuckian, I am off to send my “governor” an email regarding his obnoxious and offensive comments.
Also — here’s another tidbit. This same governor promised, explicitly, during the campaign, that he would never use the state jet to attend campaign rallies / fund-raisers. Well, he made until January 28th — about a month — before breaking that specific promise. That’s pretty good for a Dem! He flew the jet to Louisville for the rally last night too. Yep, Louisville is maybe a 45-minute drive from the Capitol. Gotta love the way the new guv is spending our money!
BTW, our previous governor (a Republican) was forced to re-pay all of his expenses when he used the jet for campaign purposes. The Dem double-standard is alive and well!
Governor Jerkwad. Truly, what a putz.
can you imagine the uproar if any republican wore a “Kill Obama” shirt or made such a comment ?
The left would go nuts.
Just sent this to the governor:
Governor,
My parents taught me that even if you have differences of opinion with other people you still have to show respect.
Clearly you were not a beneficiary of a decent upbringing. This is why our great nation is in such a state of moral decay – when someone like yourself in a position of authority can show such a lack of respect for the offfice of POTUS, how can we expect our youngsters to grow up with any moral fiber.
Democrats are not problem solvers – comedian wannabes maybe……
The Democrats are really creating a major long term problem for the nation and themselves. They have spent a lot of time hating Bush — but if Obama is elected they expect every American to support him. Up to this point, as a Republican, I have supported every President once elected. However, after watching the Democrats attack a sitting President at a time of war just because he had the audacity to win the election, I will have to rethink my position. If every Republican rethinks their position, then unity could never be achieved.
You have to ask a basic question here. If the Democrats are willing to attack a sitting President after an event such as 9/11 and during a time war, is there any hope for a United States of America? To me, it looks like diversity not unity is the future.
heh. Bet he didn’t appreciate MY thoughts! I gave him an earful…
Think I’ll switch to Jack Daniel’s. Easier to swallow.
Teddy takes Hillary for a ride in Ft. Marcy Park. Who (if any) comes out the other side and who winds up on the lawn? or in the creek?
Yet don’t you dare suggest someone go into a room with Hillary Clinton but she doesn’t come out!
Governor “problem solver”? Let’s see, high rate of public assistance + free narcotic pain killers + moonshine = a high rate of unemployed, high people. Solve that one, Gov.

Things have changed over the years. That was a bad joke, and in time of war, very poor taste. He should have apologized, but you will never see it. If a conservative said that about a liberal President, it would be “news” for a week or more, with calls for prosecution. Times have changed because politicans don’t have any class anymore. Nor, do they support a country if it conflicts with their own ambitions. Our society used to have “class”. It doesn’t much anymore. Too much of “do what you feel, say what you feel”. If it doesn’t work, blame someone. Anyone but a politician would be in jail for such a statement.
Did the moron mention Ted Kennedy and his little problem solving drive at Chappaquidick?
I think he was referring to VINCE FOSTER when he said “solutions to problems”.
What other problem have libs solved.
Oh, I know, full government employment.
LOL LIbocrat #64. The Clintons are very good at “solving problem”
Sounds like Agatha Christie
For sure though – Obama didn’t hear or see anything!
Alohaguy, I think Hillary is safe, it’s rumored that she’s a floater.
I would be happy to take Gov. Steve Beshear gator hunting but gators now days are ticky about what they eat.
so then if I made a joke about Senator Robert Byrd taking Obama to meet some of his ‘ole pals back when he had another, er, life style/job the KY Gov would laugh?
I doubt it
All this misplaced anger and hate.
Makes you wonder where it will go after President Bush is out of office.
