Campfire talk in the Arabian desert
It can get cold in the desert at night. In fact, it can be downright chilling:
…no one said “just kidding.” What they said was that this was a serious possibility we needed to be aware of. They acknowledged that rape was against their religion, but as a sin, they put it in the same category as a woman working with a man in the desert trying to understand young Saudi men.
‘Ninety percent of Saudis would think it is not right,’’ Fahd said. “An Egyptian girl with an American man, or a girl alone, what is she doing here?”
The source of that quote may surprise you.

It’s great how all cultures are created equal, isn’t it?
I don’t trust the source. Just saying….
Read the comments section. I puked. It only took two posts before somebody tried to make a moral eqivilency between the Saudis and the west. God there are some ignorant folks in the USA. They need to put down their latte’s and go see the world for what it really is. A cruel place. We are spoiled here in the States.
was there boones farm involved?
To paraphrase Michael Savage (I believe): “The West has too much sex and not enough religion. The Middle East has too much religion and not enough sex.”
In the 3rd issue of Wholphin, there is a great little documentary about a Yemeni girl who refuses to cover herself. The people feel a mixture of tolerance, resentment, amusement, love, and anger toward her. Only the young men, just slightly older than her, are the ones that threaten violence for her nonconformity. It’s worth seeing. She’s a courageous (stupid?) kid who will have to succumb to the culture to survive. The movie is called “A Stranger in Her Own City” and was directed by a Yemeni female filmaker.
Well you know sooner or later we will have respect their sharia law and pay welfare for a muslim man’s concubines…
It is already happening in Britain
What’s an American girl likely to do to one of those misogynist Islamic pigs? Castration comes to mind.
The Egyptian woman should have known. Creepy.

only if we let it happen here — recent events in central TX suggest we are not there yet …
In all honesty, rape would be the least to worry about for a woman found in the presence of an unrelated male.
Americans, by and large, just don’t get who and what we face as an enemy. Many are willfully ignorant.
Our values and beliefs are not universal, even at the most fundamental level. This is why “diplomatic”, feel-good solutions fail.
Liberal Americans don’t see anything as a real threat until they are harmed.
Then the lawyer-up.
Note that libs blame, cops, the U.S.military, The Pope, religion, George Bush, and Exxon-Mobil for everything from jock itch to bad breath.
They never fault themselves or the moronic agenda they espouse.
Well if it was a good place, that is a place of honor, that is a place worthy of grace, then perhaps Allah would not have deemed it to be a desert, so that it might bare fruit… that is.
Saudi Arabia will continue to be a disgustingly backward country as long as its royal family continues to bribe our presidents, foreign policy officials and academic institutions to see and hear no evil and the news media refuse to name and shame the bribetakers on their front pages.
Backwards thinking folks.
Makes me really question diplomacy with a society that finds rape a perfectly justifiable act in their own twisted perspectives as well as stoning women and honor killings of their own mothers, sisters and daughters .
Creepy.
(Go ahead Oblahma….lets wait till they all have nukes to talk diplomacy)
Makes me wonder if, essentially, the same fate as what happened to Japan, is ultimately what is going to have to happen to the enemy we now face. The lack of human values runs far deeper than what any diplomacy or “cultural understanding and tolerance” could ever hope to accomplish. This evil is wholly incompatible with civilization, east or west. This “war” will only play out in slow motion.
It must be remembered that Washington, including Bush, Chertoff, and the State Department actually want more of these creeps in the country. So we may experience their ‘culture’. This seems very important to Bush. Maybe he can start with his daughters.
My favorite part of the article:
On what premise does he base this conclusion? Body language? Psychological analysis of the mindset of Saudi young males?
Typical Western liberal wishful thinking combined with ignorance.
You can say that again! We are a selfish, spoiled nation that would outlaw accidents of any kind, stop people from dying. Typically, we refuse to accept that bad things happen and every one is nice “deep down inside.”
And we have cuddle parties.
A Fatwa by the late Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran. Authorizing Sex With Babies.
“A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl is still a baby being breastfed. A man, however is prohibited from having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, other sexual acts such as foreplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy is allowed. A man having intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not committed a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged. If the girl, however, is permanently damaged, the man must provide for her all her life. But this girl will not count as one of the man’s four permanent wives. He also is not permitted to marry the girl’s sister.”
Most Americans tend to think that everyone is like us. Just because it’s something that we wouldn’t do - that they wouldn’t do it either. People need to wake up and realize that we are in a very special place. Not everyone in the world is as trusting or respectful as the great majority of us are.
