Speaking of flag pins, Obama’s been spotted wearing one (photo link here). No word on the star-count:
Barack Obama, who labeled discussion of whether he wears a flag pin in his lapel a false issue in a debate with Hillary Clinton, was wearing one Monday as he campaigned in West Virginia ahead of Tuesday’s primary vote there.
Obama made no reference to the pin, which could be clearly seen in television images and through telephoto lenses as he spoke in Charleston, W. Va., about veterans issue. There was no public comment from his campaign.
Monday morning, pollster and former Bill Clinton adviser Douglas Schoen wrote in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal that Obama needs to better define his values heading into the general election. “First, and obviously symbolically, he must start wearing the flag lapel pin,” Schoen wrote. “He simply cannot afford to raise doubts about his patriotism.”
Although Obama sometimes wears the pin, more often he doesn’t. And he’s long insisted on being a different kind of politician who doesn’t resort to gimmicks or give in to pressure to conform to the status quo.

Just a guess here but I think he just got ahead of himself and let the cat out of the bag. We will have 57 states once the North American Union is completed. The plan is probably to create 7 more out of Mexico and Canada.
I hear you, Doug, but many of us just want to apply a little equilbrium to the playing field.
Try to imagine the media uproar if Bush had said that. Remember the recent coverage when McCain made a flub about Sunnis and Shiites? Remember the difference in coverage between the military services of Kerry and Bush? I sure do.
Every tiny mistake by a Republican is magnified beyond all proportion, while those of Democrats are stuck next to the obits if they are covered at all.
If you don’t listen to talk radio, you wouldn’t even know about half the flubs the Dems make, but the media spares no expense to pound away at a simple flub by the President.
Sometimes it is “just about sex,” but more often than not, it is just about Republicans.
Michelle, Obama is right: There really ARE 57 states.

i thought it was obama that said “words matter” after the biden fiasco? now it’s excuses for being tired? that one was already used: by hillary: after the imaginary sniper incident.
the truly funny thing about all this is…if mcshamnesty had said anything remotely like “57″ the msm would be admitting him into a nursing home with senility as the diagnosis. billary? free pass. barry? free pass.
Are you actually, seriously, making an issue of whether Obama wears a lapel pin or not? Is that how you judge patriotism?
