It’s that time of the year again. Prom season gone wild. We’ve got our first entrant for worst prom dress of the year. The girl seems to have confused her high school prom for the swimming pool. Because her outfit looks like it was meant to bathe in, not dance in:
Where was the adult in this teenager’s life to block the door and say: “Nuh-UH, no way in hell you’re stepping out that door. Go put some clothes on or I’ll make you wear a sleeping bag to your prom.”

My babysitter is a junior in HS and she said that a lot of girls were dressed very inappropriately. Too low cut in the front and in the back!
Where were her parents ? They should have taught their daughter to have enough respect for herself to dress modestly.

I think this one falls under “Things responsible parents don’t like” since I can probably find you a few million of each religion or lack thereof who would argue this is not appropriate for a high school prom.

I have sons and daughters and I won’t even talk about how my husband would react to my daughter putting that “dress” on, but beyond that, if one of our son’s date showed up in that get-up he would be going to the prom stag. End of story. No discussion. (We would probably be inserting ourselves as last minute chaperones too.) We went Saturday night to see the kids before prom and I saw a lot of tasteful dresses and a few who showed way too much cleavage. One of the Seniors we knew said the kids were all taking bets on who would show up in the “trashy dresses”.
She was trying for a burqua but didn’t buy enough fabric.

OK, this will probably promote her to 15 minutes of (well paying) fame in a short but lucrative career… but hand-cuffs, really… just exactly WHERE was she concealing a weapon? hand-cuffs for the parent(s) OK, but if bad taste is a felony we gotta build a whole lot more jails.
At least I was not the only one who had that thought.

The dress was so inappropiate. I blame the parents. Just go to any store, starting in the toddler section and you’ll find mini hooker wear. If you allow children to have their way of dress all their lives, what do you expect? It’s not just a Christian thing, it’s common sense. Geesh.

This is why I’m glad I graduated from high school early. The worst thing about this girl is the guys who come behind her, thinking that this type of dressing style is not only appropriate but necessary. I feel sorry for her in a way. I can’t imagine having parents who cared so little about me that they would let me out the front door in that outfit.

I liked how she and her friends thought that covering up her abdomen would solve the dilemma.
The school authorities must have been too prudish to say, “Honey, it’s because your nipples are covered by a sheer piece of gauze.” Instead, they said that it was because she wasn’t wearing underwear, to which she rightly replied that she was indeed wearing underwear. She meant the thong that she was undoubtedly sporting, I’m sure.
We’ve got to clear a few things up here:
1) prostitutes do not dress this poorly and it is insulting to the profession to draw the comparison;
2) some are assuming she has a father figure at home…it doesn’t seem likely, unless it’s Michael Lohan;
3) there is nothing wrong with an elegant backless dress, or showing off some cleavage, it depends on its spot on classy to trashy spectrum;
This girl seemed reasonable in the news interview. Why the need for attention, I wonder? Really, she appears as though she would have looked very pretty in a typical prom dress. Her date was looking sharp in that gold lame (accented ‘e’) vest.
It also appears that the school had a written dress code for the prom. If she violated it, then she should not receive a refund.

At that age, had my prom date shown up wearing something like that, I have to admit my first thought would not have been “I wish my date had more self respect. It reflects poorly on her, and by association, me.”
For better or worse, my first thought probably would have been something not appropriate here.
But my actual prom date was a sweet, modest Presbyterian girl (Hi Tara!). So moot point.
Yeah, her dress was skimpy… but no skimpier than any barmaid’s on Sat. nite in Hell’s Kitchen (Yes, the name will cause the neighborhood some well deserved issues)… But hey, NYC has it’s/our own brand of condom, NYC CONDOM, free at most local shops, grab & go… google it if you don’t beleive me. When someone told me about this story, my first reaction was to drum up some moral outrage. “How dare they arrest a girl for a dress, blah, blah, blah.”
Then I saw the dress. It was more ridiculous than I could have imagined.
I am glad she wasn’t allowed to the prom. The arrest still worries me. I read that she was arrested while she was arguing that she should get a refund for her now useless tickets. Fact of the matter is, blacks are much more likely to be arrested for any kind of public disturbance.

This is actually quite sad. How little self esteem she must have in her own self worth that would make her believe the only thing she has to offer our society is her nearly naked body. It’s just sad.

I dont know how it was anywhere else, but…I know when I in high school, to fight with one black person was to fight with a whole squad of people. From what i’ve seen in the news and heard from my younger siblings, its nothing new.
If that mentality still pervades, I could see why they are arrested in those instances. Because as a lone officer, or even 2 or 3, you might have a small, angry mob on your hands.

Just watched the new story and it’s woth noting that the girls friends tried to alter the dress in the hotel lobby in order to cover up her mid-drift. Unfortunately, she still wasn’t allowed in. Why you ask? Because she wasn’t wearing any underwear.

With all of the Hollywood glitz and fame and the red carpet walks where all of the photogs take pictures of the “stars” and they all are pretty well wearing the same thing this young (dare I say) lady is wearing. It is not suprise to me, shocked non-the-less, but no suprise.
