The stupid party strikes again: “The Change You Deserve”

Oh, dear Lord. The hapless Republican establishment has gone and made a public embarrassment of itself again. Can your hearts take much more of this?
Hoping to get things moving in a positive direction, House Republicans will on Wednesday begin rolling out their own policy agenda, trying to showcase their differences with Democrats on issues such as health care, the economy, energy and national security.
In a memo to be sent to Republican members today, the leadership hints at a new slogan building on the change message that has already been shown to have political resonance with a public unhappy with the nation’s direction.
It looks like Republicans will counter the Democratic push for change from the years of the Bush administration with their own pledge to deliver, drum roll please, “the change you deserve.” The first element of the party agenda developed over the past few months by the leadership and select party members will focus on family issues.
“Through our “Change You Deserve” message and through our “American Families Agenda,” House Republicans will continue our efforts to speak directly to an American public looking for leaders who will offer real solutions for the challenges they confront every day,” said the memo prepared for lawmakers.
Conservatives have spent the entire campaign season eviscerating Democrat candidates who’ve tattooed themselves with the empty “change” slogan. So what do the brain-dead strategists and p.r. market wizards of the GOP go and do?
Wrap themselves in “change.”
What about self-preservation? What about sovereignty? What about consistent adherence to constitutional principles?
Nope. We get more insipid “change.”
The crack research staff at GOP HQ somehow missed that “Change You Deserve” is the marketing slogan for Effexor, an anti-depressant.
Brilliant.
The GOP lemmings deserve everything they’re going to get in November.

My depression just keeps going deeper and deeper. Republicans have become the “duh” party.
Well…I guess thats how politics is. I prefer to vote to a person with conservative principles rather than just by going by which party he belongs to.
How about:
“Leadership We Need! or
“Do You Want Change Or Dollars Left In your Pocket?”
Didn’t realize there were any differences….
Republican “leadership” – from drama to comedy to farce to tragedy.
The “Change We Deserve” and the “Change We’re Being Forced to Endure” are totally different animals.
Oi Vey.
Several more:
“Let’s shrink the Government for a Change!”
“We need to “Change” and enforce our Immigration Laws!”
Embarrassing…Election Day ain’t gonna be pretty.
The change we deserve is all of them replaced.
What we need is less slogan, more showcasing. If I want a slogan I’ll watch commercial television. I’m more interested in seeing the differences, because I used to know what they were.
Well! I have to hand it to ‘em. A change is in order. I just don’t think the change I am thinking about is the same change they are thinking about.
This is the best Republicans could come up with?
You look at Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, both of whom have LOSER written all over them, and you see WINNER by comparison.
Even Newt Gingrich is wearing panties now.
The change i deserve is the change in my pocket. Give me my money back!!!!
“You say potato, and we say potatoe.
You say tomato, and we say tomatoe.”
I say we call the whole frickin thing off!
Hey! Ron Paul is still in it. Viva La Revolutione.
I’ve heard recently that the republican party will merge with the democrat party after the election to become the democans.
They will then immediately surrender to Mexico, and Cananda. Thus, creating a new country called The MexiCanny States. Re-education camps will be built for those who still don’t accept “change”.
Utopia, is at hand!!!
“the change you deserve.” is to have REAL Conservatives in charge.
The Change you Deserve is a slogan full of contempt. It sounds like, “don’t complain when Obama is president, because that is the change you deserve.”
And the Democrats will gladly use this to their advantage to make this happen – to Republicans.
The Stupid Party paving the way for a veto proof Democrat congress.
I thought this was an April Fool’s Day post. My, oh my.
Well, the mimicry marketing strategy has always paid dividends…to the creators of the original strategy.
“The Change You Deserve” has an ominous ring to it, too. I shiver every time I read it.
You’d think that with all the so-called big business corporate ties the GOP supposedly has, someone, somewhere, could hook a marketing flak to create something original.
But hey, if you have no original ideas, this is what happens.
Come on, take a load off, relax on your much needed paid (by your employer) family leave with a little pharmaceutical relaxation (paid for by other taxpayers), as “undocumented” workers (who’ll do the work Americans refuse to do) serve and prepare your food, mow your lawn, and clean your house. Watch as we change the lightbulbs you can buy, burn your food for energy, and give you stimulating tax rebates (subsidized by our “partners” the Chinese and Saudis). Don’t worry about teaching your kids anything, because no child will be left behind by our party, they’ll be taught (something) by a comforting state nanny!
It’s change, the change we deserve!
It’s like the GOP’s on a soma trip.
Hit the deck!
Ladies and Gents, we had a chance to pick Mitt Romney and we picked Juan Hernandez instead.
Please God let us survive 4 years and give us a second chance. Please.
Definitions of change:
Fundamentally, Change denotes the transition that occurs when
somethingthe GOP goes from being the same bullsh*t to being different bullsh*t.Let me guess, this slogan was thought up by the same guy who invented.
NEW COKE.
There ya go. Hold your nose, take your pr@zac and pull a lever (or in Floriduh – punch a hole if the flippin card already).
I looked in the Soap manual of interpretation for “change you deserve” and it translates:
Get back in line and shut the hell up.
Yeah, and so are the Republicans. UGH!
Can we just clean house, and bring in a few who actually have an original thought? Rather than focus on getting back to conservative principles, they piggyback. So much for “inspired leadership”.
They’re all stealing these lines from Newt Gingrich. “Real Change” and “American Solutions”. Hillary swithed it to “Solutions for America” and Obama “Change you can believe in”.
Let me play along and come up with a line of my own.
Ask what you can do for your country and not what your country can do for you!
Boy this is easy.
Maybe WE could come up with a slogan for the rotting GOP.
1)We’re not as a bad as them
2)Vote for us and we’ll do something.
3)Reagan isn’t dead, he’s just sleeping.
4)Send us money and we’ll change.
GOP, RIP.
Totally void of any talent.
Hey, BadIdeaGuy (#20), as an Epsilon-minus semi-moron, I think I might have missed the subtlety of your sarcasm.
Well, anyway, time for some lunch and then some more soma.
Hey, shouldn’t that slogan be in Espanole?
libocrat,
I voted for Romney here in NJ… and that means zip, zilch, nada. This place is the Dems’ haven.
_______________________________________
A Change we Deserve… How about listening to your constituents? by securing the dang border like we screamed a thousand and one times.
Instead we get a slogan… Thanks for nothing.
The only thing we have to fear is… Fear itself that’s brought on by the lies of George Bush!
And fun!
Evil party + Stupid party= Evil-Stupid laws.
Not sure which “slogan” is more applicable…
“Fighting the LAST war!”
or…
“I must catch up with my people, for I am their Leader!”
Does this slogan mean that they will balance the budget?
30 pcs
Another t-shirt in the making …
Change We Deserve
written over a picture of hearing aids …
30 pieces, we have a very large portion of Republicans that are not going to vote for McCain. The GOP is fuQed. Republicans that will not vote for a Republican.
Think about that. There are Republicans that will allow Obama to win rather than compromise their principles. What kind of organization would spoon feed crap to their customers.
THE GOP, that’s who.
You know, somebody was paid 6 figures for that slogan.
That reminds me of an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Joe Piscopo tries to give some examples of things he thinks are funny, including Tip O’Neill in a dress, words that end with a K, and a briefcase that looks like a fish. Maybe Tip and Newt could get together for lunch sometime. Erm or not?
I know a groovy slogan!!
“From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”
As I recall, Rudy was one of the first to point out that change itself was neither good nor bad – it depended on what the change was. And we saw what happened to him.
People wonder (well, trolls wonder anyway) how the Dems slid so far left, and how the right moved so far left.
It happened because people just keep voting for their beloved ‘R’ or ‘D’ in spite of that person being oh-so-wrong for the job.
Congrats to Buckie and Frankie to helping the ‘Rs’ along the path to becoming a socialist party.
That’s how parties morf away from what they were in their glory days.
How about this for a slogan: ‘Vote for us and we’ll dismantle the IRS, the beuracracy, build the fence, enforce the laws that will send the illegals home cuz they won’t want to be here anymore, and leave you the heck alone!’
Dankitti, I’ve got bad news for you.
Tip has left the building.
New Republican Slogan.
Hey Conservatives
- go f*ck yourselves –
or we’ll do it for ya”
How about this one. “We know better …”
Joy,
Nice slogan.
Reality:
“We’re not listening LALALALALAALLLLAAALL”
DL,
Perfect! On the back of the shirt, we can put that monkey that’s covering its ears on it while riding an elephant with the letters GOP written under it.
“The change you deserve,” The hope you hoped for.
The Republican party. We’re for change and hope, too!
Gak.
I guess sometimes you have to hit bottom before you can begin the 12-step recovery program. In November, we’ll all be hearing a loud “SPLAT”.
I am an Indpendant.
Voting for Nader here in CA. Not a big fan of McCain. California will go Blue anyway.
Nader takes those witchee-poos outside of Berkeley out of the picture for Obahma.
Need to Keep Nadar going. He is unelectable but messes up the Democrats. What a guy.
Its a stradegy thing.
This is the worse buncha candidates we’ve had since I can remember.
And the putative new leader of the GOP, John McCain, is sounding more like Al Gore than Al Gore in his remarks embracing Gullible Warming.
We’re in for a boatload of trouble for the next 4 years no matter who wins. All three of these morons believe in Gullible Warming and see the solution as more government. The facts are that there is no man-caused warming, and there is nothing government could do about it if there were.
But McCain is as eager as any greenie to expand the power of government to stop the evil CO2, he thinks it’s a poison and a pollutant. What a dunce. We exhale it, plants need it to grow, and they grow better with more of it. And all the evidence indicates that if there is any warming, a warmer world would be a more productive and better world.
I’m making a T-shirt with the upsidedown Elephant and a dead donkey that says, “NEXT!”
“If you experience change that lasts longer than four hours, consult your physician.”
(Or call your guy friends and brag about it)
How did all these lame-oids and retards take over the GOP? I still don’t know how that happened. I’d have all these RINOs and Demo-Lites taken out and tried for treason if I had the power. They have given the battle field to the socialists and other America/capitalism haters without a shot fired. I’m bummed. Consider the three stooges running for POTUS this time. Good Grief! America is done for.
How about.
Bend over I’m driving.
Crikey!!! Doesn’t anyone remember Goldwater’s saying in 1964 that he would be offering “A choice not an echo”?
What we got now is an Echo to the Nth.
Let’s face it: the RNC consists of tin-eared hacks, a bunch of chair moisteners.
Well one thing is right: if we elect McCain we WILL get the change we deserve.
Michelle, you are so right on this one.
The Repubs’ collective IQ just keeps dropping so quickly into the abyss, it is beyond astonshing.
I really do wonder how some of the Republican analysts who are putting these ideas together get their jobs. I’d fire every last one of them and start all over again. This is incompetence at its extreme.
Goebbels believed that the German public was not very smart, that they would buy just about any story if the story was repeated enough times.
To top this off, I just heard McCain on the radio, buying into the global warming hoax, like he’s a disciple of Al Gore.
I can’t stand much more of this either.
I’m just going to write in Tom Tancredo and let the rest of the Republicans “cross over” to vote for McCain (as Rush is saying they will have to do in order to cast that vote.)
WE ARE SO SCREWED.
Hey, i’ve got it! Why don’t we use something that really shows republican ingenuity, the “go get um!” attitude, and reaches across political and ethinic boundaries…
How about something like…
Si! Se puede!
wait….have i heard this somewhere before? not….sure….where…….
My campaign slogan this year is “gag me.”
I can’t beleive we descended to the point where our choices are between two miserable sad sack candidates, one who is a political lightweight with no experience, the other who is a cranky old hot-tempered b*stard who likes to stab his base in the back, and both who are completely pro-illegal immigration.
The only question now is “which party is in worse shape?” Tough call, but either way, we’re screwed.
Pathetic – McCain is quite possible the closest ideological match of George W than any of the GOP contenders.
They are trying to recycle party tricks from previous elections to pull this one out. Republicans have lost all credibility in regards to family values. Right now the main thing affecting families is not Grand Theft Auto 4, it’s freaking gas, food and other commodity prices. They think we are honestly going to believe McBush will stifle inflation, and bring our cost of living back from the stratosphere.
Yeah Right.
Vote Non-GOP in ‘08. We have to show them this wont stand.
Also nice to see the GOP has taken time out from its busy schedule of investigating Major League Baseball to focus on Hopechange!
We are so screwed.
The GOP is suicidal and we all get to watch.
The Left has already won.
3-nothing.
Let me see if i have this correct: We can’t call Islamic Terrorists Islamic Terrorists anymore, or say jihad? The republican party is for “hope and change”? And the leading dem candidate thinks there are 60 states in the US. Okay, think I got it now.
Another reason I recently withdrew from Republican party, initially in protest over McCain.. although fortunately it was not until after I was able to vote in the primaries.
I really wonder if these cretins have any clue as to the beating they’re going to suffer come November? I can easily see 60 Democrat seats in the Senate and a gain of 30 Democrat seats in the House.
The Republican Party is UTTERLY VOID of leadership.
We are beyond screwed.
We’re being augered right into the pavement.
Someone needs to start a New Conservative Party. Then we can give the GOP the change they deserve.
Cadman #45.. ROFL so true.
Change you deserve?
Yeah, I got your ‘change’ right here buddy, come get it.
“Hope” is not a plan; and “change” for its own sake is not a strategy. Yet here we are, attempting the one thing that is guaranteed to fail come November: trying to out-Obama Obama.
A donkey can outflank a Republican by sounding like he or she is more “conservative” – that person gets called a “blue-dog democrat.” That describes much of what happened in November of 2006.
A Republican, on the other hand, can’t outflank a donkey to the left; he or probably won’t succeed in the attempt to begin with, and even if the effort is successful that person simply becomes a “RINO.”
“The change you deserve” has a weirdly punitive sound to it: It makes me wonder, what did I do to deserve it? But I guess if we’re going to reduce our principles to slogans, then how about an epitaph for the GOP? My nomination is, “What were you thinking?”
Our great country started with a political system that seated our leaders based on accomplishment, passion, and vision. Our system has evolved to the point where most of our leaders have none of these qualities. Certainly the three current candidates for POTUS do not. Without a major revolution in our political system, goverment will only get worse. It is already showing signs of cracking.
Who ever would have thought that being a Republican was an embarrassment?
Every day we get closer to the elections is another day I have to seriously consider getting firearms for the family along with concealed carry permits, because after November I don’t think there is going to be anybody left looking out for me and it is going to be every person for themselves.
We are so screwed.
I should make it a bumper sticker.
Our great country has come to this – the three stooges who would just be contemptible and laughable, it they didn’t also have the power to damage us and our country beyond repair.

Could you also put it on a baseball cap for me?
So let me get this straight: If someone tells me to vote for “change,” now I can vote for either Obama OR McCain?
And let me also get this straight: The GOP is adopting a word used by a Democrat candidate?
I don’t get it.
I give up, I surrender, I am staying home in November.
…..Meaningfull CHANGES that would help America:
1. Term Limits, 8 years and out( change senate term to 4 years). No one over 65 eligible to run for public office(I am 65). Change!
2. Flat Tax, junk the current tax code and the IRS. Change!
3. Close the border, bring home our troops from Europe and assign them to the southern border to assist the Border Patrol and ICE. Deport as many ILLEGAL immigrants as possible. Change!
4. Moratorium on all immigration for 4 years. Change!
5. Become more nationalistic, be more selective in who(what countries) receive our billions in handouts. Change!
6. Energy, drill in Anwar and off our coasts, fast track 4 new oil refineries, fast track new nuclear energy plants from border to border. Change!
7. Education, presidential executive order, immediate end to all TENURE, approve vouchers nationally in all low performing inner city areas. Change!
8. END earmarks and severly restrict campaign finance and PACS. Change!
I could go on but I want you guys to read them so I’ll stop. These are CHANGES you will never get from either political party.
Just a grunt
oohrahh
I’ve already done those things….. I am a conservative and an individual……. F**K with me, I dare ya, Republicrats and socialists!…… This is gonna be a bumpy ride. My deepest apologies for not using my well earned BS and MS based lexicon today.
Oh I am going to vote in Nov. I may cast a vote for president but I am definetly voting against anybody with the word incumbent next to their name regardless of party.
El cambio que se merece!
More of a downer than an antidepressant…
WAH !!!…Stupid Conservatives…Wah !!!
Are they promising to dig into my pocketbook?…Are they promising higher taxes?…Are they promising massive gov’t regulation?…Are they promising to try to take over a major industry?
Give ME sumpthin’ to whine about
I just want someone who will do their JOB!!!
The more they talk and the less they do, the more inclined I am to NOT BELIEVE THEM!
Anyone with half a brain knows that the democrat “change” talking point is ONLY that. It’s just talk- that stupid socialist idiot Obama doesn’t know how to run a garage sale, let alone a country.
I’m surprised the republicans aren’t offering hope, too. Or Carbon Credits. Maybe diversity tie tacks.
Can’t someone explain to me why we are trying to cater to these people? Liberals are defective- why are we trying to be or sound more like them? They are to be defeated.
How’s about:
Change – not just for your underwear anymore
I hate to point out the elephant in the room, but you’re kinda doing enough of that on your own.
John McCain in his remarks on Gullible Warming IS promising to dig into our pocketbooks, make us pay higher taxes, promising more government regulation, and take-overs and beat-downs of major industries, as well as beating down those companies and individuals who are productive…
I’m writing in my cat for president. Moo (looks like a cow) is for Animal rights. One boring rainy day, we ordained her online, so she can preside over religious ceremonies, without God Dam*ing America. She works for treats and doesn’t believe in raising taxes. Her hobbies include playing with rattle-y mice and eating Fancy Feast.
Moo the Cat for President. She doesn’t offer change or hope. She won’t tell you what you want to hear, but what’s really on her mind. (you might not understand, but at least you know she’s honest.) She never dodged sniper fire, doesn’t believe in Amnesty and has always been proud of her country.
franksalterego – you just got pwned by longbow.
This one gets my vote. After a frustration filled day of discussing the future of the GOP and the ramifications of our votes, I needed this.
As ACHefty said on another thread… No more Net for today.

I sent in my first ever voter registration form about a month ago, after debating for another month about how to register. One of my good friends convinced me to hit the box for Republican, because the only way to fix the party is to change it with new ideas from within.
Stories like this push me closer and closer back to that edge; I’ve made up my mind that if McCain wins in November, I’m switching to unaffiliated. This party doesn’t represent me anymore; they represent themselves, and to Hell with their constituents any time other than an election year. (Then again, it sure seems like they don’t care much for us even during this astoundingly critical election.)
abstractmind – pWn3d! – even better!
Not much left to say. But think about this. This is the collective effort of the GOP, not just mcamnesty. I can overlook 1 huge mistake (like mcamnesty as the candidate), but after a while I have to realize these are not mistakes. It is intentional to move further left of center. The GOP, lead by mel martinez and rove, have decended into the liberal abyss. There is no saving it.
