$9,000/week for DNC “emergency chief”
Guess who’s paying to subsidize an “emergency chief” to handle the nutballs at the Democrat National Convention in Denver.
You are!
Via the Rocky Mountain News, here’s the scoop on how an expert on moonbat management is making out like a bandit:
Planning for the worst during the Democratic National Convention requires one of the best, and that expertise doesn’t come cheap.
Denver is paying $225 an hour - or $9,000 a week - to Ellis M. Stanley Sr., an emergency management veteran who has been tapped to serve as director of DNC planning for the city’s Office of Emergency Management.
Stanley, who has overseen planning for major events including the 1988 Democratic convention and the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, stands to make up to $280,000 while under contract with the city through August.
In addition, the city is reimbursing Stanley for lodging and a rental car and providing him Southwest Airlines travel vouchers.
Sue Cobb, spokeswoman for Mayor John Hickenlooper, said Stanley is leasing an apartment for $2,250 a month, which she said is cheaper than a hotel. She could not immediately provide rental car costs.
Stanley has used four travel vouchers, Cobb said. Southwest provided the vouchers to Denver in exchange for advertising at Red Rocks some years ago and the rates were locked in, she said.
“While the logical comparison would be to the cost of an airline ticket, this is substantially cheaper because we locked the rate in a long time ago,” she said.
Stanley’s contract is being funded through a $50 million federal grant the city received to cover DNC security costs, she said.
Speaking of the Denver convergence, Slapstick Politics has the latest on the crack-up in the left-wing chaos-creation coalition.

Thank’s Michelle. I’ll lose another pound today…maybe two pounds. I forgot to add that pound of flesh.
seems cheap compared to 50 mill. like to see the entire money trail for this one…..
Why is anyone suprised?
Nice work if you can get it.
I wonder if the entire $50 mil will be used? Gee? What are the chances it goes over budget?
Not if he stays at a days inn. This is our $$$ of course, so he couldn’t possibly stay in a cheap motel.
“You’re gonna ride the gravy train.”
BOHICA
Personnally, I think he’s going to earn at least some of that money….every tinfoil hat-wearing, socialist-loving, America-hating liberal is going to be here, my home town, Denver, all together in the same place. How frightening is that?? We conservatives are running to the Rockies in August.
Isn’t this lovely…an artificial job created by an artificial crisis. Now, with Barry getting closer to the Dem nod every day, the lefty freakozoids will have nothing to get excited about. If I’m Mr. Stanley, I’m hitting the slopes. I don’t think snow is much of a problem right now. Even if I didn’t ski, I’d find time to take some lessons. After all, isn’t that the purpose behind a no-show job? *out*
As others have already pointed out, the moonbats are going to make him earn his over-inflated-tax subsidized salary. I’ve got the popcorn ready for the show come August.
Why I dislike political parties, number 9999. 50 million dollars federal grant for security for DNC? I bet the republicans have the same grant. The political parties make it impossible for anyone else to compete.
I’m really surprised the DNC didn’t try to bill Rush for Operation Chaos causing ALL of their current woes. This is really delicious theater !
But as Mayor Hickenlooper and other city pols will rush to tell you, having the Dem Convention in Denver is not only a great honor and an opportunity to showcase the city but the immediate economic benefits from the visitors and delegates will be practically astronomical! The money will turn over numerous times and just like when tax payer dollars are used to finance Olympic Games and athletic stadiums Denver will soon become the new Nirvana-Cibola-Shangri-la all wrapped into one! And, trust him on this, nobody associated with his administration or the Democratic Party will skim (or steal) a nickle from the hard working suckers that bought the original snake oil.
It will be interesting to see how he manages to keep the upcoming circus under control. With all its clowns and loons who are loudly and violently disrespecful of anything other than themselves, it will be fun to watch. As already noted, we need to watch the money flow in order to giggle louder about the results.
The real question should be, how much is it worth to watch the Democratic Party self-destruct? Recreate ‘68? They are proud of that moment when they lost the White House for 28 of the last 40 years? Somebody must have a death wish.
$2,250 a month?
Thats a penthouse somewhere in Denver.
The burbs aren’t even that high, unless he has a 6 bedroom for ‘family’ and or ‘guests’.
What a scam.
Beat me to it.
Now, he was head of security at the Atlanta Olympics ? Um, didn’t a BOMB go off at that little event ? Just sayin’….
More political partying above we the people. And for those of you who actually think they will do something? They are going to hire rentacops and offduty police on overtime (at our expense of course) and let everything else run its natural course. You thought they really cared?
If there is a plus side to this inevitable mayhem, it is that Denver has a Dem Mayor and Colorado has a Dem Governor. Watching them try to police their own will be quit entertaining. They won’t have the Reps to blame. Unless the National Guard or DHS gets called in, then it will all be the President’s fault.
I will supply the “which candidate do terrorists support” poster during the convention.
You’re thinking long term lodging. $2,250
is a hotel room at $75 a night, for 30 nights.

Hot dog! Southwest. Hey, Mr. Classy!
The only way anything will happen in Denver, is if they give the nomination to Clinton. If they do that, I don’t care if the Swiss Army is there with machines guns, while US Army Rangers, and Navy Seals have the place locked in. It won’t matter. Denver is just one of the places that will be out of control. I hate to say this but DNC should decide everything now or its going to be:
tick-tick-tick-tick
30Pcs
warms my heart to see such a young person using BOHICA
I am willing to do this job for $22.50/hr. - 90% off! - however my only duties will be to post signs directing the various rioters, er, grievance committees toward the convention center. Wouldn’t want the revolution to get lost on its way, would we?
I have been doing crowd/riot control in DC, Kosovo, Macedonia and Iraq. I’ll go on leave and do it for free for the Dems just for the chance to legally crack a few heads.
Can’t we just bill the DNC?
And -how much do our brave troops make?
Just asking.
I know I made $90 ….. per month.
It will be interesting to see how the poor working slobs like me will get to work downtown. Everything down here is within the security perimeter and just blocks from the Civic Center where the kooks want to have their tent city.
It’s normally where all the druggies and prostitutes hang out so they’ll feel right at home.
Maybe I’ll take my camera out at lunchtime every day and take pictures, just like at the zoo.
I hope it turns into 1968 all over again to make this clown earn my money but, I bet his biggest job will be to protect the Arguala transports.

Right On!
The DNC convention benefits the DNC and Denver. Either or both should pay all costs, not the American taxpayer.
National Special Security Events
…Major events that are considered to be nationally significant may be designated by the President — or his representative, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) — as National Special Security Events (NSSE). Beginning in September 1998 through February 2007, there have been 27 events designated as NSSEs. Some of these events have included presidential inaugurations, presidential nominating conventions, major sports events, and major international meetings. The U.S. Secret Service (USSS) is the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising, and implementing security for NSSEs, and was designated as the lead agency in P.L. 106-544. This report provides information on USSS legislative authority for NSSEs, NSSE designation funding and training, and NSSE funding. This report will be updated when congressional or executive branch actions warrant…
I can understand the Super Bowl, State of the Union, G8 Summit, but not a Party Convention.
Sorry the link to the State Dept. document should be National Special Security Events

Just spending the money so the rest of us don’t have to.
Doesn’t Denver already have a local police force that can work. I am sure they could use the overtime pay.
The democrats are experts at spending tax payer dollars and that’s about it!
