Obligatory Silky hearts Obambi post

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 15, 2008 09:11 AM

John Edwards gave Barack Obama his blessing last night. One effete, big government liberal embraces another.

Yawn:

At a rally in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Wednesday evening, John Edwards endorsed Barack Obama, who was on the stage with him, to be the Democratic nominee for president.

Sounding a theme of a nation divided into parts by walls, Mr. Edwards said, “The reason I am here tonight is that Democratic voters in America have made their choice and so have I.”

Mr. Edwards then went on to say, “There is one man who knows in his heart that it is time to tear down that wall and make one America, Barack Obama.”

Mr. Obama, who had introduced Mr. Edwards as “one of the great leaders we have in the Democratic Party, ” responded by saying he was grateful to him for coming to Michigan and giving his endorsement.

Mr. Obama also noted how Mr. Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, had emphasized health care as an issue that is of primary concern, then said it would be a major issue in his administration.

The endorsement comes at a time when the appeal of Mr. Obama appears to be lagging among white, blue-collar voters, a group to which Mr. Edwards openly appealed.

Edwards’ 19 superdelegates don’t have an obligation to throw their support to Obama. But they probably will.

Here’s the Edwards’ speech, posted at Obama’s campaign website:

And the long, slow march towards Hillary Clinton’s inexorable end continues.

A sham? Imagine being in a loving relationship with your husband/wife but not being allowed to latch on to his/her health insurance. That’s a pretty big deal.

Underseige is right about the Christopher Reeve quote. That was a stupid and horrible thing to say. But the first quote is beautiful.

And southside is absolutely right. All the macro indicators point to the Dems. We could nominate an actual lock of Edwards’s hair and a $200 slice of ham and it would still win they had Ds next to their names on the ballot.

This, however, might be a blessing in disguise. Silky’s numbers were certainly not that great, or he’d have been a major contender. Obama has alot of baggage (Wright, MO, and so on) that he needs to contend with and really rise above. I’m not sure he’ll be able to.

I do know, however, that its bad tactical policy to interrupt an enemy when they are making a mistake. I say let them continue :)

This endorsement makes perfect sense. It’s the 2 America ticket! The latte liberals vs. the bitter gun clingers. It is good to remind us how awful, ignorant and greedy the majority of Americans are.
