Amnesty alert: Reminder to keep the heat on
I told you yesterday afternoon about the illegal alien amnesty provision slipped into the Iraq war supplemental by Dianne Feinstein and the cretinous Larry Craig. The post has been updated with details, but I’m starting a new thread to emphasize that there’s time to kill this thing. You’ve done it before and you can help do it again. Roy Beck reports that the full Senate will likely vote next Wednesday, so keep the heat on.
For those of you who missed the updates:
Because the House of Representatives unexpectedly delayed the Iraq supplemental spending bill late Thursday, the full Senate won’t be allowed today to vote on the amnesty bill that the Senate Appropriations Committee unexpectedly took up and approved Thursday.
It now looks like the full Senate won’t be allowed to vote on the amnesty for around 1.3 million illegal alien ag workers (plus their families) until next Wednesday.
That gives us some time to beat this atrocity…
…
Rosemary Jenks (our Vice President, Government Relations) just called me after finishing reading the Iraq supplemental spending bill as it came out of committee. It would:# Grant a three-year work visa followed by a permanent greencard to all illegal aliens who have been working as shepherds, goat herders and dairy herders.
# Grant a five-year work visa to the estimated 1.3 million illegal aliens working in other agricultural jobs — plus all of their families. There is no instruction on what happens after the five years.
# Grant a tripling of the maximum number of H-2B visas for lower skill, non-agricultural seasonal workers.
# Grant industries an extra 218,000 additional permanent green cards for skilled foreign workers.
Friends, perhaps you are thinking what I’m thinking: Don’t these Senators know that we are in an economic recession, or close to it? Don’t they know that unemployment rates have been going up and that industries across the country are shedding both skilled and unskilled jobs?
If ever you doubted that U.S. Senators live lives disconnected from ordinary Americans, you could see it Thursday as 17 of them fell all over themselves to drastically increase the number of foreign workers allowed to hold U.S. jobs!
RIDICULOUS CLAIMS ABOUT RUNNING OUT OF FOOD WITHOUT AN AMNESTY
Senators Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.), Larry Craig (R-Idaho) and Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) led the way to protect our economy from having to figure out ways to hire some of the 14 million-plus American workers who are trying to find a job but can’t.
Especially interesting is their claim that we will fail to harvest crops and feed the world this year without an amnesty for illegal aliens. They made the same claim in each of the last four years. Each time that we beat back the amnesty, the harvests still happened! How many times does Feinstein have to cry wolf (or rotting crops) before people stop paying attention?
Of course, the outlaw businesses that scream for illegal aliens do have more to fear this year because various enforcement policies (federal, state and local) are beginning to drive more and more illegal aliens home.
What we have to constantly remind everybody, though, is that each of these outlaw growers at any time can come clean, go straight and become a legal, patriotic member of the business community by importing any needed foreign ag workers through the H-2A temporary worker program. There is no limit on how many they can import as long as they pay them decently and ensure that they go home.
The North Carolina Growers Association has used the H-2A visa program for years and opposes all efforts at amnesty for illegal alien ag workers. If the program works fine for North Carolina farmers, why do farmers in other part of the country insist that only illegal aliens will fit the bill?
Call your Senators. Call GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (***thank him for voting against the Feinstein/Craig amendment and urge him to support the effort to strip the amnesty out of the Iraq supplemental bill***): 202-224-3121.
What part of “no” don’t they understand?
***
A Senate staffer says there will be an amendment offered by Sen. David Vitter to strip the Feinstein/Craig amendment from the Iraq supplemental bill when it hits the floor next week.

Maybe they all need to be reeducated – “Just Say No!”
Boxer’s office: voicemail full
Feinstein’s office: put on hold & line disconnected
Number’s USA: Able to send faxes directly to their offices…
Made the call. I have to chuckle at the irony of a Border Patrol banner ad at the top of the page, though…..
Well the election is coming up and wouldn’t it be nice to have another 1.3 million plus their family voting on your side. People forget if you make those illegals here legal, they’ll have to get minimum wage and therefore they’ll lose their NO SKILLS job to some other later illegal who made it here. Then we’ll have 1.3 million more people without a job to turn Social Services into more of a Socialist wing then what it is right now. Some people think they have power, when in fact they have nothing. Feinstein lay off the weed, and Craig get out of the bathroom, its time you all figure out how much you’re ruining this country.
In the old market driven business/labor climate if a Microsoft needed C++ programmers, Microsoft would hire and train them from the American workforce.
In todays business metric Americans have to pay for their own training and then compete with foreign, subsidy trained workers with credentials they can’t even hope to have and at reduced salaries.
Thats not just rigged, its a racket.
Its not protectionist, its right versus wrong.
America 1st.
Scamnesty
I just called Senator McConnell’s office and they said the bill was voted on already and he voted no? Is this true?
Read the first post. McConnell was on the Senate Appropriations Cmte and he voted no on the amendment yesterday, which passed 17-12.
The full bill, to which the Feinstein/Craig amendment is attached, will be voted on next week.
Well, Mr. Roy Beck of Numbersusa is hitting the nail right on head. But there is one small mistake in his list -#Grant industries an extra 218,000 additional permanent green cards for skilled foreign workers.
This is incorrect. US allocates a predefined number of green cards every year to skilled foreign workers. But USCIS has been allocating less than that for past few years. Now Congress is trying to recapture this lost green card numbers.
I personally would even allocate more green cards to skilled workers (remember its green card, not visa – The folks receiving green cards are already here and have been maintaining valid status and paying taxes every year), but reduce the huge number of family based green cards we issue every year. Family based green cards lead to chain migration.
Thanks for clearing that up Michelle. I’ll definitely keep the heat on then!
Also noted in an update above:
What do they take us for? Don’t answer that. Geez.
Ugh. It doesnt stop with these clowns.
Can we start over? remove all politicians and just call it a mulligan and redo it?
And can i vote for myself? ROFL
MM for prez
Mrs. Malkin should get involved with politics. She speaks her mind and tells it how it is. She’d have to lose her journalism objectivity but making a difference in the country is so much more important.
So Mrs. Malkin, run for office, and make America a better place.

We really need congress to retool the line item veto bill and present it to the SC again!
Actually, unemployment is mostly holding steady with increases being very slight and in many states unemployment has been dipping slightly.
Re: 17
California unemployment was up to 6.2%, which is the highest level in 4 years.

So I guess Feinstein is an idiot… since those hurt most will be her “constituents”. I have no idea why Californians continue to vote for Boxer or Feinstein, as CA is constantly screwed in terms of federal funding and I think US Citizens are fleeing the state.
NO means NO. Allow me to translate that into Spanish for them: NO
According to an article in SFGate:
Excuse me, but how is all of this verification going to take place? Who or what entity will be handing out the temporary legal status? That roaring sound you hear is millions of illegals in this country running to get in line for this scam. Does anyone doubt it won’t be a scam?
Thank you for keeping this front and center, Michelle.
I sent a harshly-worded letter to my senators. Unfortunately, they are Boxer and Feinstain so I doubt it will make much difference!
I got through homework and writing emaails to all on the list. Craig, Feinstein, Leahy, Spector all had provisions to not hear from someone out of state, so on a tip from this blog I started putting down their state addresses as my own TO GET AROUND THIS HORSESQUEEZE.
Funny they want to muzzle us, but want to kiss Mexico….
KEEP FIGHTING
To be fair, Feinstein has been personally hiring illegal aliens for at least 30 documented years. You need to understand that amnesty for illegals actually means amnesty for her. She is one of the most corrupt politicians around when it comes to illegal aliens. As for the American worker, well, she was the mayor of San Francisco when the local janitors union was busted by illegal alien labor. Having an illegal alien nanny at the time she could just not find it in herself to complain.
If you want to get your blood pressure up before you FAX or call yourself or via NumbersUSA, watch this testimony about Florida hospitals and the cost of caring for illegal aliens.
Lots more current stories at Outraged Patriots.
Just called the Los Angeles office because the D.C. switchboard was locked-up. Yeah! A guy named Jerry answered and here is a summary. He tried to do his job but he used the word “Amnesty” and I hadn’t even said it. I pointed out the merits of the H2A vs. H2B visa. I asked Jerry if we are not told all the time how we need to protect the wages and rights of these poor people who just want a better life? The H2A does this better than the H2B. At that point Jerry asked for my zip. I proded him in a good natured way to give me his opinion. He stated “I can’t do that sir” with an added chuckle. I got the feeling Jerry already knows the truth and may actually agree with me. Keep up the good work.
I know I can trust my senators (McConnell and Bunning) to do the right thing on this. (Still sent a fax though. Just to let them know my opinion hasn’t changed.) McConnell is up for reelection, and thankfully is running ahead in theoretical polls against his would-be opponents. (Our primaries are not until next week.) I pray that he wins, because I know that we could never count on Lunsford or Fisher to show the same leadership.
Regarding the amnesty, does anyone else feel like they are talking to a 3-year-old? No… I said no… no way. Did you hear me? I said no… You aren’t listening to me! Okay — time out for you!! (Too bad we can’t actually do that last one.)
Specific numbers of green cards are actually an aside to the point(s) I was making.
Why should business pay for the education that benefits them (as they used too) when they can double dip with already (and better) trained foreign workers for smaller salaries?
Our education systems can’t compete with foreign subsidies and students can’t afford comparable training to begin with.
Thats why years ago businesses trained skilled workers for their specific needs but unfair competition and a misguided education system has removed any reason to do so.
I just called Isakson and Chambliss in Georgia. They are both against it (so they say). The guy in Isakson’s office said they had 56 calls left on their voice mail last night pertaining to this issue.
Hey fellow Texans! According to KBH’s office she voted against the insertion of the immigrant provision in committee and says she will be making a stink about it on the floor. Is the ship beginning to turn?
Just wrote to my Senator, Senator Brownback, and hope that a lot more people write to tell him that the immigration provision needs to come out. Everyone who is contacting their representatives keep up the good work. We killed the shamnesty bill and can kill this new attempt. Hey CA, can’t you get rid of these people?
