Obama to Sioux Falls: “Thank you, Sioux City!” Video added

D’oh.

The bigger gaffe, of course, was the campaign’s decision to have Obama stand with landslide loser George McGovern:

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama started his speech tonight with a gaff[e].

“Thank you Sioux City,” he said, before realizing his mistake.

“I said it wrong. I’ve been in Iowa for too long. I’m sorry,” he said.

Obama appeared before a roaring audience after being introduced by former Sens. Tom Daschle and George McGovern.

Daschle and McGovern were among many of the state’s most prominent Democrats.

You’ve seen one bitter, clingy flyover town, you’ve seen ‘em all.

    Tests Ahead for Obama

    By Robert D. Novak

Buyer’s remorse was beginning to afflict supporters of Barack Obama before Tuesday’s primary election returns showed he had delivered a knockout punch against Hillary Clinton. The young orator who had seemed so fantastic, beginning with his 2007 Jefferson-Jackson dinner speech in Iowa, disappointed even his own advisers over the past two weeks, and old party hands mourned that they were stuck with a flawed candidate.
