The spanking they deserve: NRCC gets an earful
All week long, you and I have been blasting the bereft Beltway GOP leadership for their empty sloganeering and Obama-esque change obsession.
Now, the NRCC is hearing it directly on its website. Reader Fritz e-mails that the comments section in the NRCC blog post by chairman Tom Cole is sizzling hot with aggravated grass-roots conservative feedback.
Go check it out. A sample:
This is not the message I am looking to support. The message of the Replican Part should be fundumentally different than the Democrats. We don’t need to “fix” the government. We need the Federal Government to do wnat it is supposed to - protect our freedom. It should not try to be eveyones “Daddy” Healthcare is not the Federal Governments responsibility. If my new my situation, you might take these comments more seriously. I am not some rich guy who wants to pay less taxes and who can afford to pay for the high prices of healthcare. I just know that government, in general, is inefficiant and wasteful and would like to see less governement programs instead of more.

Republicians think the way to Win is to Out “Liberal” the Liberals! McCain will be defeated by his views and disregard of Values. Obama will win. If we put up with Jimmy Carter for 4 years….Let Obama and the Dem’s take all the Credit for DESTRUCTION that will follow.I will either not vote or vote for Ron Paul. NO McCain.
Posted: Greatdanes on May 16, 2008 at 1:07 PM
PLEASE….you are kidding??!! John McCain is the republican candidate for President. So, which LIBERAL should I vote for. Let’s see OBAMA(Marxist), CLINTON(Marxist), MCCAIN(Open border/amnesty liberal). I have changed my party affiliation to independent. I will not vote for anyone who says one thing during the primary and when they think they have the nomination locked up, tell how they truly feel. John McCain “DIDN’T GET IT” after-all.
So if the RNCC is going to support this liberal RINO, then you and are at odds from here on out. No more money, no more support.

No conservative American gets up in the morning looking for a government handout. They go to work and support their families. I have 2 questions for you. When everyone is collecting who will be paying? Why are we not using the resources for energy here in America that God gave us? STOP BEING RINOS. Either LEAD,FOLLOW, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY.
Posted: Maureen McInerney on May 16, 2008 at 1:15 PM
All you guys have shown us is how to loose. The Republicans had the Congress and the Presidency and you debated flag burning! Where is our energy policy? Why are we burning our food supplies? Where is the debate on “global warming”? I can’t support you, you all need to go.
Posted: 19852 on May 16, 2008 at 1:16 PM
It’s rather evident, the Real Republicans are telling you the GOP, the RINO’s are in charge, they are no better than the libs and their values are not those of conservatives. We want the Republican platform adhered to and the speeches to reflect our values as Republicans, not fence sitting RINO ways.
Real Republicans do not have barb wire rash.

Your message sounds like more big government. I am conservative and want a conservative message. I want to support conservative candidates. The three congressional seats that the democrats just won were won by democrats that had a conservative message. Republicans have lost their way. The party has gone back to the good old boy party of elite country club moderates. That is not the way to win elections or raise money. I will certainly read your e-mails but will not support any candidate that does not espouse a conservtive agenda. I hope the party will adopt that philosophy and then carry through.

…I’ve got a Republican Solution for you: Tighten the belt or lose the pants. And here’s a Positive Agenda Item for you: I Positively DO NOT need a Nanny and am tired of you thinking that I do.
Here’s a thought: Why don’t you figure out what you stand for? You’re starting to sound like you’re falling for anything. I won’t be following you there.
Posted: Colleen on May 16, 2008 at 1:31 PM
…I’m sorry, but there is no way I can/will contribute until I hear the Republican party taking on the fight against the global warming HOAX, drilling in ANWAR, and absolutely protecting our borders against illeagal immigrants. As an example of what I would like to hear, every Republican senator should have jumped on Dick Durbin’s comment “we can’t drill for lower prices” after the amendment to drill in Anwar was defeated. In the circumstances we find ourselves, that is one of the most stupid comments I have ever heard from any politician. To the best of my knowledge, the laws of supply and demand have not been overturned by the liberal judges…yet.
Just one example of many that could turn the party around.

I’m a middle-class conservative business owner who is still outraged that the GOP leadership in this country decided to make medications part of the entitlements available for all medicare recipients.
I’ve reached that golden age when I am eligible for medicare myself. A lot of us can and should pay for our own prescriptions. For those that are unable to pay, there is a place for this largesse.
Since the government got in the business, the price of my meds has increased 30% across the board. I live on the Canadian border and have friends and family on both sides of the border. Heaven protect us from the kind of “free” healthcare they must endure.
When has the government ever done anything as cheaply and efficiently as the free market?
I come from 3 generations of straight ticket Democrats. Jimmy Carter was the last time I voted for a democratic candidate.
I doubt I’ll be able to stomach voting for McCain unless he gives me some solid reasons why I should. His “reaching across the aisle” only demonstrates a big lack of judgment.

So let me get this straight - I have a choice between McCain or Hillary or Obama? Did I just say I have a choice? I think I just had a 52 yr-old brain cramp. I do not vote for RINOs. None of these 3 are qualified to run this country. If the Repubs are not different than the Demoncrats then what is the use? We speak with our votes - we vote for someone else. Vote for a spoiler? No, we vote our conscience. If the MSM or the NRCC want to consider them a spoiler - so be it. Get a clue already!. Abandoning conservatism means no money, no support, no vote from me.

You know, I’m not feeling at all sorry for this criminal. He deliberately tried to infect a police officer with a deadly disease. What the……
Lock ‘im up. He has a BAAAAD attitude.
I may be late to the party but here are some questions I’d like to ask the NRCC:
1. How fair was it to let Dems, Independents, and liberals decide who the hell the Republican presidential nominee was?
2. Instead of actually listening to the people who put your asses in office, why are you are more interested in asking for some of my hard-earned money that you haven’t already squandered, along with the liberals, some other way?
3. Why are you still pretending that there are no problems with the party leadership and the party’s direction? Why are you willing to stand by and blithely let the whole thing fall apart? Are you that desperate to retain your seats?
4. Do you care about the base or is claiming to be conservative something you only do at election time and the rest of your term you dishonor your principles entirely?
5. When did the word “conservative” become either an empty gesture or dirty to you people?
6. When will you get the balls to hand the Dems theirs when fighting for the future of this country? Or do you care that we all pay for your attempts at cheapening Reagan’s legacy some more?
Yep, these are many and more questions I’d ask the NRCC.
For two years, every time I get a fundraising plea from the GOP, whether local or national level, I write across it, “When you start leading, I’ll start giving”, and mail it back to them in their postage-paid envelope.
It’s not a very original idea, I admit, but they don’t get it; they just don’t get it.
Since when did GOP stand for Gutting Our Principles?
Here’s my $0.02 worth;
“You people should learn from your mistakes, but you do not. We just lost THREE firmly Republican seats because Nancy Pelosi knows what you people need to learn! CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPALS WIN ELECTIONS!!! In all three of the recently lost seats, she put up solid conservative Democrats! Yet you guys put up McCain’t-a-conservative for president. I dread the shellacking we will take in November if you don’t get it RIGHT…and I do mean RIGHT!!!”
“The spanking they deserve: NRCC gets an earful”
To get the spanking they deserve they’d have to be shipped to Indonesia for a judicial caning. I dounbt anybody other than the site’s webmaster even glances at the input.
It all comes down to the axiom that any compromise between truth and falsehood will ALWAYS be less than the truth.
Present voters with facts and then let them decide who is telling the truth.
* Is offering amnesty to illegals good for our country? No!
* Is there any physical evidence that human CO2 causes global warming? None!
* Does it appear that we are still over on the righthand side of the Laffer curve? Very likely; let’s cut taxes again and find out.
* Is a free and democratic Iraq good for the future of the grandchildren’s grandchildren of US citizens, Iraqis and everyone else on this planet? Yes.
yada ..
Just checked the blog and the ass-kicking is still going on. But. Will they pay attention? God help us if they don’t. May their “butt blisters” turn into third degree burns..
Conservatives (and many libertarian-minded folks) are tired of the Republicans trying to cater to the liberals or big business cronies instead of standing up for conservative principles based in individual liberty, smaller government (limit the nanny state), personal responsibility, national security, defending our borders and sovereignty, and doing what’s right for America…not just what’s ‘nice’ or feels good.
But even after all those blog comments on the NRCC site, odds are they still won’t get it.
People also need to pay close attention to your local elections as well. In my county, the county commissioner’s office is up for re-election. The Republicans aren’t much better than McCain. My county (Gwinnett) has the largest concentration of illegals in the state of Georgia. We have the largest crime rate and illegal drug activity as well (thanks to illegal drugs being brought in by, you guessed it, illegals).
In previous years, I never considered what message the Democrats had. Not this time, I’ll also be looking at the Democrats for my local elections.
I’m skipping the 2008 presidential election.
The Republicans need a message other than “We’re just like the Democrats but better, really”. Concentrate on just four issues. Right now the Republicans flunk on all of them except the last, and they’re working on doing worse on it:
1) Protect our borders. Imprison and/or deport illegals, fine and/or imprison their employers.
2) Cut taxes and spending.
3) Energy independence. Drill for oil that we have, build refineries, let the free market work to find and develop other sources - no subsidies, no pork barrel money for pie in the sky technologies.
4) Fight terrorism and terrorists wherever they are. Give our military a free hand to eliminate the threat.
Oh yeah, and issue #5 would be:
5) Forget about the Gullible Warming scam.
Saturday morning and Tom Cole’s RNCC letter/blog has over 700 comments–not one of them positive. Michelle, I think you have touched a nerve by pointing to this insult, but I wonder whether the idiots have the sense to realize they are in very serious trouble.
AGREED! AT THE VERY LEAST!
I hope the comments that McCain made over the California Court Ruling put PAID to any STUPID IDIOT IDEAS that McCAIN is an ADVANTAGE over the Dims on JUDICIAL matters. Since he said enough the last 8 YEARS that they never had GROUNDS to believe he was an advantage in the first place!
I get so tired of GULLIBLE FOOLS/ENABLERS displacing their own values system over the top of some JERK, just because it is more convenient than BESTIRRING THEMSELVES to deal with REALITY.
The GOP reminds me of a small child that continues to misbehave after a constant string of “No, No, NO”.
And like a small child, the behavior will not change without negative reinforcement. Unfortunately, if McCain is elected, it will send a message to the GOP to continue their leftward trek and that the conservatives in its own party are no longer relevant.
It is time to put the GOP in “time out”. I figure 8 years should do it. And to reinforce that message, Republicans do not have to cross over and vote for a Democrat (the Republicans could interpret this as a sign that they are not far enough to the left). Just do not vote for a Presidential candidate. The number of votes will reflect the fact that there seem to be a few missing, and maybe, just maybe, someone with half a brain will figure it out.
left the following at the NRCC:
I will Vote for my senator, Dole, and my Congressman, Hayes, but under no circumstances, will I EVER vote for John McCain.
He has an “R” on his Jersey, and a “D” in his heart.
I am voting for Chuck Baldwin at the Constitution Party this year.
BORDERS, LANGUAGE, CULTURE.
LESS TAXES, LESS GOVERNMENT, MORE FREEDOM.
McCain is a SOCIALIST.
This Party completely lost it’s way under the “Leadership” of Bush.
Due to NAFTA and CAFTA we have lost over 3.5 MILLION High Paying Manufacturing jobs in the 7.5 years Bush has been President.
But we have “New” Retail, Fast Food, and Hotel Jobs to replace them.
And the SPP, NAU, Law of the Sea Treaty, Aliens, No Drilling, etc. has made me realize this Party is the new home of LIBERALISM.
The sad fact is that McAmnesty doesn’t give a crap about comments from conservatives.
I do enjoy McCain’s left wielding ways. Who knew a man who calls himself a Republican, has such admoration for the views of Democrats. So I guess 3 Democrats are running for President, and one Republican, Ron Paul.
McCain clearly believes that he can win without conservatives. The NRCC apparently believes the same thing.
Idunno, maybe they can.
But I am tired of being forced to choose between flat-out communism and something just to the right of it.
I attended a RINO function yesterday. When I voiced my opinion on “our” complaints with the party and those running (virtually all of the points listed above), heads literally spun around. Talk about feeling like the pariah. Don’t remember ever feeling this kind of remorse and foreboding before an election.
The party isn’t listening, partly because they don’t think they have to, and they’ve become way too comfortable. Lie a lot, get elected, become a Washington insider, if you lose an election down the road you can always fall back on the hottest job out there with all your old friends - a lobbyist.
WOW, I just came back from THERE, and it is still going FAST AND FURIOUS.
I saw reference to ONE POST of an idiot who tried to claim the angry voters were Paulbot trolls, and boy did they tell him off, good!
I finally begin to have HOPE that even with CROSSOVER DIMS, MAYBE we will NOT have to suffer the Presidency of that egotistical jackass, and all the Socialist damage HE would definitely - NOT MAYBE, and NOT ACCIDENTLY cause this nation.
The only McCain supporters that I know of are all voting for Obama.
Do you see a pattern developing.
I’m getting really tired of saying this, but JUST BECAUSE THE GOP HAS AN OLDER REPUTATION of being “to the right” of the DIM PARTY doesn’t make it SO, WHEN THEY RUN THE LIKES OF JOHN McCAIN who has a PORTFOLIO OF ACTUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS FAR TO THE LEFT AND I N ACTUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS FAR FAR FAR OUTSTRIPPING the DIM PARTY all put together OF ALL THE DIM CANDIDATES PUT TOGETHER!
BY WHAT FOUNDATION do you guys keep calling McCAIN something LESS of a Socialist Communist than the DIM PARTY LEADERSHIP?
Don’t you all have a copy of a good 1970’s DICTIONARY that still has the DEFINITIONS of the USSR, “NAZI”, “SOCIALIST”, “COMMUNIST”, “FASCIST”, etc IN THE DICTIONARY?
Don’t you have a definition of Liberalism from the 1960’s LIBERALS wh ich DEFINES THEMSELVES as SOCIALIST COMMUNISTS UNDER A NEW NAME TO FOOL EVERYONE???
Don’t you have a copy of the old Stalinist Agenda posted in our Congressional Record on January 10, 1963?
Don’t you HAVE A COPY of the Communist Manifesto? The Humanist Manifesto? - SOME STATEMENTS BY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS from OLDER UNREVISED DOCUMENTATION?
IF YOU DO - WHY are you still playing CODDLING WORD GAMES with the GOP?????
How do you think they get by with all the garbage WE CLAIM TO HATE SO BADLY!
McCAIN HAS DONE NOTHING TO WARRANT ANYONE ON EARTH SAYING HE IS TO THE RIGHT OF THE DIM PARTY CANDIDATES, or is of a lesser threat to America than they are!
He proves it every single time he opens his mouth.
Hey Mr LaRaza, Do you still think we should call it a “banana”? Maybe as you “reach across the aisle” you can tell the bigots to shut up!
Just an alert - Kennedy has been hospitalized and they think it’s a stroke.
I think the GOP is toast. It’ll be interesting to see what organization evolves to take its place.
There are now 850 comments about Tom Cole’s letter at NRCC.
Call 911!
The GOP is on fire!

Is there any presidential candidate anywhere who isn’t fooled by the global warming hoax, who is for drilling in Anwar, who is for winning the war in Iraq, and who is for smaller government and lower taxes?
If there is such a candidate, I would like know, and I couldn’t care less what the party affiliation is.
# 50, that would be change we could believe in.
I’d like to synopsize Papa Louie’s last post.
“Where have all the Cowboys gone?”
I think Hillary has the biggest balls of the 3. She certainly has the biggest thighs.

I’d recommend the CONSTITUTION PARTY.
They aren’t for the war, but with ISLAMIC LAW in the Constitutions of Iraq and Afghanistan, there is nothing left there to fight for. Under Islamic Law, there is no Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Conscious, nor Freedom at all. No equality for woman, no equality of RELIGION.
So, given our Blunder of inserting Islamic Law in there, we can’t accomplish any thing else, frankly.
Read Jihad Watch, get What the West Needs to Know, get Obsession. Read books by Spencer, Ye’or, Bostom, Gabrielle, Sperry, Mc Carthy (Andrew), etc. Study this as I have. We have done all we can.
Embarrassing Strategy [Andy McCarthy]
Kathryn, that AP story brings us to my nominee for the best headline of the day, which comes (as it often does) from Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch:
“Saudis to Bush: No reduction of oil prices. Bush to Saudis: OK, we’ll give you nukes”
As he quotes AP:
President George W. Bush and King Abdullah formalized new cooperation on Friday between the kingdom and the United States on a range of topics, including the development of civilian nuclear energy in Saudi Arabia and US protection of Saudi oil fields.
The agreements came as Saudi Arabian leaders made clear that they saw no reason to increase oil production until their customers demanded it, apparently rebuffing a request made by the president directly to the king in an effort to stay the soaring US gasoline prices.
The nuclear power should go well with that $20 bill in military arms we sold the KSA last summer (while the Saudis continue to press Hamas’s case). But not to worry: the Saudis will continue to depress the price of all that wonderful literature they provide us on the, er, internal struggle for personal betterment through good works in society.

He has destroyed this one!
I never thought it would be possible to bring it this low. Was it planned?

A Million Thanks To Our Readers [Andy McCarthy]
I just want to take a second to say thank you to all NRO readers. Willful Blindness: A Memoir of the Jihad made the New York Times extended list this week — it’s No. 32. I am humbled, and very grateful.
Since NAFTA passed in 1993, the U.S. has run 15 straight Trade Deficits with Mexico.
In 2006, Mexico exported 900,000 vehicles to the U.S. which, use to be built HERE. The U.S. exported fewer than 600,000 vehicles WORLD WIDE!
In 1943-44, 40% of U.S. jobs were in Manufacturing. Today, it’s 10% and falling.
In President Bush’s first Six Years, an average of 47,000 non farm payroll jobs were created each month. Under Reagan: the average was 150,000 per month. Under Clinton: 237,000 per month. ( a caveat: Clinton inherited the best economic conditions, but still, the Bush years are the worst, BY FAR)
From the end of the recession Bush inherited, in November 2001 through mid 2007, the wages for the lowest 80% of Americans rose by 0.6% per year.
Average income for all Americans in 2005 was still below the last year of the Clinton Admin.
By mid 2007, median household income had fallen $1,300 below Clintons final year.
Between January 2001 and January 2007, the U.S. added 4.79 Million jobs, the weakest Six Year performance in FIFTY YEARS.
1.29 million of those jobs created were in the Food Services Industry.
Of the 3.5 Million manufacturing jobs lost, 558,000 were in Computers and Electronic Products.
Our choice of candidates is between two democrats, Obamma or McCain. Sad!
I hate to say this but McCain acts like he is still affected by his prisoner of war experience. There is something in him that has to play nice. Scarry!
If I get polled I will not say that I am voting for McCain that is for sure.
We need some way to ignite a fire under the GOP. Time for a voter revolt of some sort.
here’s my post to the RNCC morons:
Jorge AMNESTY Boosh and Juan AMNESTY McVain have killed the republican party, do you dopes realize that? I actually had the temerity and short-sightedness after the most recent (very very narrow) Amnesty defeat to think that some of our republicrat elected officials may have gotten a clue, but then you go and give us Juan AMNESTY McVain as a presidental candidate, a man who is so dishonest that he refused to tell the truth about his Amnesty scheme which would have finalized the ruin of this once-great nation, while smearing and insulting normal citizens like me who saw the complete insanity in that awful and insidious capitulation.
So I say to you, RNCC, “go to hell.” I’m gone. I used to vote straight R’s down the ballot, but never ever again. Frankly, I hate the Dems less than you idiots becuase you were at least supposed to be on my side. At least that’s what I thought before Boosh and McVain stuck the knife in and twisted it.
In the very prescient words of a prior poster here,
“Here’s a virtual check to go along with the “virtual fence” on the border. I’ll also be giving you my virtual vote in November. It’s not a real vote, but if “virtual” is good enough for our country’s security, it should be good enough when you want my vote, right?”
You make me sick.
Looks like it is going to turn out to be not too serious. A couple of seizures which may or may not have followed possible strokes. Tests being run, no sign from anyone that he is in bad shape.
Brit Hume said that he himself suffered some seizures a number of years ago, for a short period of time, I think they have been stopped for years, now.
Obviously, Brit is fine.
Given that Toady is only 76 and has the very very best of medical care, I’d be surprised if this turns out to be a significant incident at all.
Mary Jo Kopechne didn’t fare so well and could not be reached for comment.
There is a solution
Get MacNasty off the ticket at the Convention.
O. Rose, the man sucks
It sure seems the Republicans are going out of their way to offend everyone they should be supporting, and encouraging everyone who will trash them later on. I don’t know if they are suffering from political combat fatigue, blatant stupidity or blinding hubris.
In Wikipedia, there is an entry on Brian Mulroney, the former Prime Minister of Canada. In it, there is a discussion of the election in which he lost office. The RNC might want to take note of the following extract from that -
———–
Widespread public resentment of the Goods and Services Tax, an economic slump, the dilapidation of his political coalition, and his lack of results regarding the Quebec situation caused Mulroney’s popularity to decline considerably during his second term. An ominous sign was a 1989 by-election in the Alberta riding of Beaver River. In this election, called when Tory MP John Dahmer died, Reform Party candidate Deborah Grey won by a hefty 4,200 votes after finishing fourth in the general election just five months earlier….
…The 1993 election was an unmitigated disaster for the Tories. The oldest party in Canada was reduced from a majority to two seats in the worst defeat ever suffered for a governing party at the federal level. The 149-seat loss far exceeded the 95-seat loss the Liberals suffered in 1984. As an example of the antipathy toward Mulroney, his former riding fell to the Bloc by a lopsided margin; the Tory candidate finished a distant third, with only 6,800 votes–just a few votes shy of losing his electoral deposit.
I cannot stand Kennedy, but I am trying to keep myself from wishing him dead, although even if he’s rendered a vegetable, I doubt we’d be able to tell any difference. There, I’ve done it. I’ve made a comment as low as some the liberals make about Rs they hate.
Back to McCain… Is there any precedence for throwing out the nominee at the convention?
Joy, if President Bush was sick, liberals would be orgasmic.
Jim, 4 years would do it! We cannot afford 8 years of Oblablah or Shrillary!
Now THIS is something I could really get behind. I’d donate money, I’d give hours of my time to campaign, I’d write blogs -
At last look, a commentor said the comments were running at near 1000 and all of them nasty. Doubt Mr. Cole has ANY butt left…
Thanks Michelle for alerting us. Cole definately hit a very RAW nerve in this wonderful country of ours…
I love your passion, dude! I don’t seen how anyone thinks that any normal level of political indignation is sufficient for this situation. Both parties now pander to the emerging MexiAmerican demographic. They have both decided to embrace and enable the invasion of our country.
The consequences of this are so obvious and inevitable. They have been laid out many times: America can not absorb the impoverished population of a chronically failing third-world country and remain the America that it once was. I understand why these people come, and I really don’t blame ~them~. They are at least behaving rationally. The country that they are going to destroy will still be better for them than the stinkhole that they are leaving.
The important asset of a great country is its human capital, the beliefs, habits, and culture of its people. Only a fool would think that this sort of third-world invasion will not bring third-world politics and third-world culture. And this is a democracy where the invaders (after they are amnestied and their citizen children) votes will count just like anyone else’s. And they are a very fecund people.
I don’t see how it is possible to be angry enough at the bastards who are responsible for all of this. And I spit on a record of noble service in Viet Nam as an extenuating factor. When you arrogantly sellout your country, it no longer matters what you did forty years ago, however heroic. John McCain is an enemy of his country. His name will be infamous in history.
The strong reaction to the NRCC’s spinless liberal leadership is a very very good example of just what it takes to force the politicians to pay attention to their base. The NRCC must FEAR, FEAR, FEAR its base, this way the consevative base of the Republican party can prevent the complete takeover of the party by the liberal McCain, Lieberman, Kennedy, etc faction. The Democratic party has already been taken over by the radical liberals (Marxists)
“Back to McCain…Is there any precedence for throwing out the nominee at the convention?”
Yeah, is there?
katablog, # 142, said: Now THIS is something I could really get behind….”
So could I.
I feel sick!
We need to organize a grassroots effort to boot McCain off the ticket and replace him with a real choice.
If McCain wins the presidency, real conservative candidates are locked out for at least 2 more election cycles. It will be a long time before we can get back on track.
We can’t keep letting things go in this direction.
Honestly, someone start a website, a PAC, or anything. I would, but I have limited time and resources and no knowledge about how to do these things.
However, I’d be one of the first to join up.
Hey Tom Cole:
Better put some ice on that.
The only reason why so far the Dems are eking out victories in congress is that they tack right for a right-leaning district, tack left for a left-leaning district, and rack middle for a swing district.
This indicates at least to me, that the population opinions haven’t changed, but rather the labels (R or D) has changed. We live in political times increasingly similar to the USA political makeup of say 1970 and earlier that I remember as a child. The reason why “Red” states went Republican is that from the late 1960s till Reagan, the “Conservative Blue Collar/Reagan democrat” was gradually being replaced by the shrill, college-educated, marxist, globalist liberal, and thus had to find a home elsewhere.
To make a long observation short, we have 3 options:
1.Re-take the Republican Party.
2.Start a complete 3rd Party unlike any that exists now.
3.Infiltrate the Democratic party via their districts in Red States…in order to have political power, the libs like Begala have finally figured out they need to reach out to people/groups they dissed in the past…this exposes them to influence and control by non-liberal conservatives and conservative causes as an act of political necessity.
This appears to be the trend of the past 2+ election cycles.
If my hypothesis is correct, I predict Obama should next tack right, and pick Sen. Webb of Virginia or Gov. Strickland of Ohio to be competitive with McCain. If not, this kind of realignment (the re-establishment of political equilibrium) will occur by 2012.
The political transformation I alluded to above (at least to me) is the only rational explanation why that Amnesty was halted last Summer despite Democrat Party control of both houses of Congress
All is not lost, folks…keep fighting.
My response to Mr. Coles e-mail:
Dear Mr. Cole,
I will not donate to or support the Republican party until it commits to a conservative agenda not, a liberal agenda! I grow more disgusted each day with the so called leaders of the party that insist we support John McCain. John McCain needs to work to bring us Conservatives back to the Party. So far he has failed miserably. It’s not too late but, getting close.
I’d be happy (happier, anyway) and supportive if the Republicans would simply act to secure our borders and, while they’re at it, see that Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean are not only freed, but finally given restitution for the injustice done to them.
Not holding my breath.
Oh, wait. Michelle M. doesn’t give a damn about them either, so I guess that’s totally off the table.
Over 1000 posts over there. I hope Mr. Coles is wearing thermal underwear.
Don’t know where you’ve been, but Michelle does indeed “give a damn” about Ramos and Compean.
I threw my Mitch McConnel survey in the trash unopened. Now I think I’ll go retrieve it and write in my comments and return it with a big fat 0 too. I hope it smells like egg salad and pickles.
Joy,
I just checked, and there are 1071 comments, and it’s still going.
Was that yours? If so, it made me lol! ;o)
Hahahahahahaha!
Someone posted the Constitution!
At least they can’t say they’ve never seen it.
kaky - Yes, that’s mine. I posted it on this thread too above.
GOP ‘08 - No Soup for You!
I’ve been reading them all day off and on. I’ve read every single post, well, except the Constitution. LOL Although I’ve read it before.
This is fantastic. Little did poor ole Tom know what a hornet’s nest he’d walked into.
PS - I’m archiving the whole thing too!
Well, that’s a good kick in the nuts for the NRCC. Well-deserved, too.
I saw it on the RNCC thread, and thought it was a hoot! I was skimming the thread, so I didn’t get your name, though.
Kudos!
I noticed that there’s been nary a peep from Tommy, too. I can’t say that I blame him. Other than a couple of Paulnuts, there’s not been many kind words written.
Good girl!
I read that there have some some comments deleted.
He realized he only thought the comments had been deleted. It’s just the posting is so fast and furious. LOL
I’m also the one that responded:
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
*crickets chirping*
NRCC
I would like change. A change in MCCain’s mindless adoption of silly environmentalism, his mindless adoption of anti-oil exploration, and his traitorous position on the border. And I am tired of being called names by the dumbest man in a graduating class of over 600. I have a Doctorate and Honors and will not be talked down to by this ignorant politician.
I put in my own post on their blogg last night.
Hopefully, Fox News and Bill O’Reilly will finally get off their RINO Lozanges and start reporting on just how angry the Republican base is instead of giving us McCain’s elevator music.
Two Words: TERM LIMITS!
Just a reminder, some excerpts from McCain’s CPAC speech:
Just how can McCain reconcile his desire for amnesty with his claim that he believes that justice and the rule of law exist “to protect the liberty and property of its citizens”? Or that the fundamental principles of the GOP are not being “compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers” by considering any form of amnesty?
It has been over 3 months since McCain made those statements and commitments, and nothing has changed.
If McCain truly wanted to unite the party, he might want to consider throwing conservatives a bone, rather than continuing to giving them the same.
Maybe Seantor McCain doesn’t understand the difference between “throwing conservatives a bone” and “boning conservatives”….
katablog, did you find your post from yesterday on the NRCC blog, or was it really deleted? Just wondering…..
I’ve posted there twice, but in my real name.
I wonder if my senators and rep. will take my suggestion and check out that blog.
Actually I honestly think an “Operation Chaos” was pulled on on conservatives by the dhimmicrat party long before good ol’ Rush coined the phrase and that’s how we ended up wth the short end of the stick. Of course that is just my humble opinion.
Hmm. Wife just announced she will not vote Pres. Just read George Wills column. This is not going away. The man is an idiot. The GOP is led by idiots. Corruption and fatness has redefined America. And if I never see an unprincipled ass like GWB or his farther in my life it will be too soon.
My son has been chewing on me for 6 months to bite the bullet, hold my nose and do it to defeat the Dims.
This week, he finally threw in the towel, he said he has heard all he can stand from McVain and he couldn’t vote for him NO MATTER WHAT, anymore.
He hasn’t agreed to join me in voting for a write-in, but he sure won’t be voting for McNasty.
And he will be praying with me much more intensely for a MIRACLE of the proportions of the Parting of the Red Sea.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
It is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too late! He has no CREDIBILITY.
WE’VE HAD IT!
And Justice has been o n a downhill rockslide ever since!
And with McVain’s comments about “STATES RIGHTS” referring to the California Supreme Court FIASCO of overturning the VOTERS DECISIONS, it is CLEAR that things will only slide downhill ALL THE FASTER if HE gets into office!
PLAIN TO SEE WHAT MAKES BEST PALS OUT OF KENNEDY AND McVAIN!
You know you are overwhelmingly generous and kind.
Stray morning thought on REACHING ACROSS THE ISLE, Such a typical liberal NICE collection of words. A more factual description of the action would something like…caught in the mouse trap again, or elephant trap?…. or ..stick your hand in the old meat grinder…..again….to keep repeating an action that brings nothing but damage and shame is ….well pathetic. This goes to the root of why we loved President Regan so much …he didn’t fall for all these stupid little 3rd grader tricks….every darn time….and he had the ability defend himself and by that defend ALL conservatives….Also a good thing to remember, he was not brought to us by the GOP….they didn’t want him….they wanted George the First…who would reach across the Isle…….
Another moron and liberal who doesn’t “get it”.
Schwarzenegger calls for ‘rebranding’ GOP
…”The Republican idea is a great idea, but we can’t go and get stuck with just the right wing,” Schwarzenegger said. “Let’s let the party come all the way to the center. Let those people be heard as much as the right. Let it be the big tent we’ve talked about.
“Let’s invade and let’s cross over that (political) center,” he said. “The issues that they’re talking about? Let them be our issues, and let the party be known for that.”
…But Poizner, speaking from Jerusalem where he accompanied Bush to celebrate Israel’s 60th birthday, said GOP leaders like himself, Schwarzenegger and McCain have proven it’s possible to stick to Republican principles and win elections, even when polls show the GOP to be the underdog.

I wrote on my Republican fund raiser letter
“Secure the border and you’ll secure my donation.”
Why don’t we all do that. We need to see deeds not hear words.
In CA we were fooled into voting for a RINO. Now we have doubled our deficit and have even more goofy leftist laws to put up with. And more illegal aliens.
Never again. I’m not voting for president.
Let the lights go out.
Dear Last RINO standing in November:
DLTDHYOTWO…..
I said it on their blog and I’ll say it here, they aren’t getting money from conservatives. That blog entry is up to 1300 comments and I didn’t see ONE that said they had any confidence in the party. All of them have gone “politician” on us and none of them remember what it means to be a public servant. If we can get rid of the rinos by writing in our votes, maybe they’ll get a clue, but we shouldn’t sit out the election, ever.
TEEEEEEEJ
Actually, I am quite happy to see all of those comments there. They show a consistent, clear definition of Conservative values in relationship to government. I have often said that I trust my fellow Americans more than ANY of those sacks in DC and this just proves why.
You all make me proud!
United we stand.
Divided…
I too am proud to see that I’m not the only person left on this earth with conservative values. I was beginning to look for Scotty to beam me up.
The only thing left is for someone to come up with a plan that suits the majority to make sure that the GOP can’t possibly discount the message yelled at them from the ballot box this November.
Is that for everyone to write NOTA on the presidential race? Write in a specific candidate? Push forward a candidate at the convention - I sooo wish we could do this?
The one thing that really confuses me are those that want to hold out to see who Juan’s VP candidate is. Why on earth does anyone care? Since when does the VP dictate any policy or change what the president puts forth? The only way this might be worthwhile would be if McAmnesty promises to die in office - which I doubt.
Here is the message I left for the moronic leaders of the once conservative party:
Let me make this simple for you so you can understand how out of touch you are. Republicans have been losing elections because they had a majority of both houses as well as a Republican president, and got nothing accomplished that even came close to being fiscally or socially conservative. They were elected because they pushed the CONSERVATIVE message, but delivered appeasement to the liberals and MORE big spending. The Democrat majority is simply retribution from voters who felt that they were stabbed in the back. Some of the Democrat candidates are acting more conservative than the republicans they are running against.
WHEN YOU RETURN TO A CONSERVATIVE MESSAGE AND PLATFORM, YOU WILL SEE POSITIVE RESULTS.
CAN YOU UNDERSTAND THIS?
My two cents:
The Republican “leadership” is made up of the same aging baby-boomers who make up the Dem leadership. They both grew up doing a few bong hits and a few beers listening to Foghat and David Bowie and now they want to get their suburban hipster groove on by aping the lefist Democrats. The Republican Party is led by people who are nothing more than overgrown teenagers afraid to look uncool in front of the NY Times. “Compasionate conservatives” - excuse me while I barf.
This is funny: this is exactly what the Conservatives in Canada right after they took power after 13 years in the wilderness. Now they have created a bigger government machinery and more spending than the Liberals before them.
At the same time, (most) Liberals are becoming more and more fiscally prudent and conservative.
A crazy world in which we find ourselves, folks — what is up is down, and what is down is up.
Closing in on 1400 comments!
The latest one may disappear, so here it is:
I’ve been harping on this subject since before the 06 loss. Now I read on real clear politics an interview with RINO Shwarzaneager embracing McCain and calling for the RNC to redefine itself as Democrat Lite. I posted my response to the article on my blog. http://thecitytroll.blogspot.com/2008/05/death-of-republican-party-by-rino.html
I believe it is time for the Elephant to die and a new party a Conservative party rise from the ashes
Rogue elephant alert…George Orwell, please call your office.
LOL!! Well done Jim! That’s on par with “Frankj@imao” humor. You should submit it to him for a blog nod.

OOOO I gotta blow my own horn when post something good. Check this out:
I’ve always heard if you want to get someone’s attention you have to show them the money.
TEEEEEJ
That NRCC thread is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while. At least I know there are 1400 other Conservatives who are mad as heck and not gonna take it any more!
It was posted on Friday when no one will read, if at all, on Monday.
Don’t expect anything from Kommiecrat Lite…
And they all think Bush is nuclear! Juan McCain is a political supernova in his power to repel.
I find it ironic that some of the most prophetic writings of the last 50+ years or so were supposedly fiction.
Animal Farm and Camp of the Saints.
There is an Orwell essay — recounting a true event — called “Shooting an Elephant.”
That’s what we need…someone with an elephant gun to put this rogue party out of its misery.
(I didn’t mean to be oblique.)
RE: post 186
Katablog,
It shall give you immense pleasure for you to know that I am one who no longer cares who McCain picks for VP. McCain is radioactive…To me it only matters who McCain picks as VP to make a wager interesting during the Summer.
