31,072 scientists John McCain needs to talk to
This morning at the National Press Club, The Petition Project will release the names of more than 31,000 scientists who reject the Gore Theory of Manmade Global Warming. Dr. Arthur Robinson of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine spearheaded the project:
Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM)
Who: Dr. Arthur Robinson of the OISM
What: release of names in OISM “Petition Project”
When: 10 AM, Monday May 19
Where: Holeman Lounge at the National Press Club, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, DC
Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM’s Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of “settled science” and an overwhelming “consensus” in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.
It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science - including 9,021 PhDs, are not “a few.” Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not “skeptics.”

“If I am elected President,” John McCain told voters last week, “I will work with anyone who sincerely wants to get this country moving again. I will listen to any idea that is offered in good faith and intended to help solve our problems, not make them worse.”
He’ll talk to far Left bloggers for the Huffington Post.
How about talking to these scientists before he pushes any further with his climate change agenda?

BTW, when I do unplug my lamps and appliances, doesn’t the electricity fall out of the socket and spill all over the floor, causing a hazard and wasting more juice than if I kept the sockets plugged up?
JUST FOR FUN
Advance this vedeo to 19:13 and stop it. Look at the timeline. It goes backwards!
Now lgm, you being a math teacher and all, explain why this is and if it is not possible, why should we believe any of this tripe!
Global warming is just an excuse for big government politicians like McCain to expand the size and scope of government, so I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for him to acknowledge this petition. McCain’s domestic policies are the worst of any Republican since Nixon. In fact, I can’t see any clear difference between Nixon and McCain in that area…
Oh, By the way…
You know how GW is supposed to bringing a plethora of hurricanes and its all our fault?

Yeah. Not. So. Much.
from the article:
Hey Sausage, does this qualify as someone who does, or does not, know what they’re talking about.
just saying.
Just in case…the quote was for pointing out the irony that even a person who believes in global warming is debunking its link to such things.
I shouldnt have to explain that, but…I know sometimes I have to anyway.
Almost 6 hours later, google only shows 4 hits on “Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine” in reference to today’s press conference http://news.google.com/news?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&tab=wn&scoring=n&hl=en&q=%22Oregon+Institute+of+Science+and+Medicine%22&btnG=Search+News
All 4 hits were from blogs. The MSM is strangely absent…
Soap,
Not a chance I’m going to watch that Soap, not a chance.
Azygos,
Just follow link I posted at #102. It is a clip form that gawd aweful tripe. I did not watch it either but I have watched enough de-bunking video and read enough reports, it is clear AlBore is way wrong.
Gorebal Warming is George Bush’s fault. I thought y’all knew that.
#100 Then George Bush has stopped global warming, because not only has the Earth not warmed at all over the last 10 years, the last year has been the coldest on record since 1900!
Michelle,
Thanks for posting this! I hope you will blog about it more, this is a story that definately needs more coverage!

Once again, Danceswithdachshunds makes a superb point!
Compare the qualifications of the “believers” and the “deniers” (how cultish is this anyway?) and you will find that the “deniers” win. Al Gore himself only got Cs and Ds in the few science courses he took in college. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&contentId=A37397-2000Mar18)
And here is a thought: I have a Ph.D. in a biological science, but I would not dare sign that list in the current liberal academic (is that redundant?) atmosphere where I find myself employed for obvious reasons.
Now you have to wonder just how many scientists know “global warming” for the utter crap it is, but are in a “heads down” situation like me, knowing the abuse abuse that we would receive from our “peers,” or even funding agencies?
This must change. To wit:
MoGal is dead on.
Computer models are no better than the data that goes into them, and we have seen the quality of that. Garbage in, garbage out, or in this case, garbage in, gospel out.
I don’t even bother referring to them as ‘computer models’; they really are just fancy curve fitting routines tweaked to the max to insure the continued employment of the tweakers.
Real models apply repeatable, reliable scientific CERTAINTIES such as using using Newton’s gravity equation to model orbital mechanics. Even though that isn’t quite perfect - it’s easily good enough to get you to the moon and back every time.
Where have the IPCC climate curve fitting routines gotten us?
“My friends, when I become president, these 31,000 so-called ’scientists’ will be fed to the polar bears.”
– John McCain
Does anyone have any information on DeSmogBlog? One of my readers sent me this link to a posting saying the Oregon Petition was false. The blog looks suspect to me, but I’d like to find out the real scoop…
Thanks!
