I’m willing to trade 1 million new Mexican laborers who are willing to work for 1 million welfare workers who will be permanently barred from reentering the country.

OK OK, it’s “A Modest Proposal”. It gets the idea across.

However, I am not willing to budge on “CLOSE THE BORDERS FIRST, STUPID LEGISLATORS!” It should not take more than a couple months to finish the project if the motivation is high enough. High motivations have fixed the bridge in Minnesota. They fixed the Los Angeles freeway system after the Northridge earthquake. They can fix the border fencing project and finish it, fast. THEN I will negotiate who is allowed to be legal in the US for how long.

I am so disgusetd by these traitorous greedy pigs in OUR government. You would think Feinstein would think her own state being 20 million dollars in debt might make her stop and think. Oh, but dum dum Ahrnold says they have nothing to do with the deficit…DUH…and illegal aliens having nothing to do with the gangs and street crime that have turned LA into a cesspool. Dude...no program will be 100% foolproof. It was a very big mistake that we didn't have proper security/background check of flight school students. But are you suggesting that we stop all student visas too? or you are ok continuing government issued student visas? We need to sent 12 -20 millions illegals back and then let some in as per our economic necessity - be it summer ag jobs or other jobs where we could have less supply of domestic employees. I hope you are not suggesting that we convert USA into a protectionist country barring anyone from outside. No doubt illegal immigration is huge issue but shouting that controlled Agjobs programs is same as Nomandy invasion will solve nothing. Illegal immigration is invasion - not controlled AgJobs visa. Also summer time AgJobs programs is different from complete amnesty. But as I said before, I prefer a summer only visa and not a 5 year no-condition stay.

Labor only accounts for about 6% of the cost of food production, so the increase wouldn’t be unbearable.

Also, in many cases, the illegals can be replaced w/machines for not a lot more money. The reason why the agribusinesses use illegals instead of machines is b/c maintenance is cheaper. When a machine breaks down, it costs the business money to repair it. But if an illegal gets injured on the job, he/she can get ‘repaired’ at the local ER for free, paid for by we stupid US taxpayers.

This amnesty would be legalizing those who are currently working for less than minimum wage b/c they’re here illegally (the average farm laborer earns just over $10,000 annually). Once the illegals are legalized, the businesses who have been hiring them are going to have to pay them a higher wage, & those businesses won’t be able to control the former illegals as easily b/c their legal status will afford them certain workplace rights. As a result, a lot of agribusinesses will start letting go of the newly-legals & hiring illegals, b/c they’re cheaper & easier to control by threatening them w/deportation.

Ultimately, farm-worker amnesties aren’t only about giving people amnesty so they can become temporary guest workers (even though they won’t be here temporarily). They’re just as much-if not more-about amnesty for the agribusinesses who have been hiring the illegals. This is high-ranking govt corruption at it’s most blatant.
