On May 21st, 2008 at 8:30 am, On-my-soap-box said:

On-my-soapbox, my comment was directed at Terrig. She posted a comment in the open thread from this weekend, that I responded to, but got no response from her. I was not sure she had seen it.

This morning, she commented on this story at 7:41 a.m.

So I posted a comment at 8:18 a.m. that is linked to our discussion in the open thread. It was my hope that she would click the link and see my reponse to her comment. This was not meant to be a threadjack.

Note how I said:

Terrig, not in this thread, but at some point...

I was not trying to threadjack this thread to talk about the War. It was in hope that she would see the comments from this weekend and we could continue that discussion at some other time in the future.

If you misinterpreted this attempt to get her attention as "threadjacking" then I apologize.

I reiterate my comment in post 31 in this thread that my prayers are with this (and all) Marine families who have experienced tragedy during this War.

A United States Marine
Written by: Hershey S. Gehris, CCAM

I am
A United States Marine.
My Tenets are Duty, Honor, and Commitment
in services to God, Country, and Corps.
No matter the Cost;
No matter the Sacrifice
Even to the last full measure;
I will do my Duty.
I will Honor the traditions of those Marines who have gone before me;
As they have passed to me so will I pass to those who follow,
The sword of Freedom, the banner of Courage,
the unblemished Honor of the Corps.
For services without Honor is not our tradition.
I will serve with Honor.
I will be, at all times, always faithful
To my Corps, my Division,
To my Regiment, my Company
To my Platoon, my squad,
To my Fire-team, and to these Tenets
I will be Committed.
I am a United States Marine
I am neither an Ex Marine nor a Former Marine
I am or I am not
For a Marine, there is no middle ground.
I am
A United States Marine.

This fallen hero deserves his nation’s thanks, praise, and eternal remembrance...

As do all our fallen heroes. May Cpl. Justin Cooper rest in peace and his family find peace. :cry:

Cpl Cooper, you fought proud and hard, your mission here is done. Thank you for pressing the fight; we'll continue it from here. God bless you, rest in peace, brother; Semper Fidelis!

May God please extend His mercy on the Cooper family during these most troubling of times!

“I remember telling him he needed to have a lot of thought before doing this. He felt his country needed him at the time more than he needed school,” Alan Cooper said.

My sympathies to this brave young man's family and friends. I am filled with pride in my country that it can produce such upstanding, altruistic young citizens as Cpl. Cooper.
