Tennessee GOP Sen. Corker tells Tennessee GOP to shut up
You knew it was only a matter of time. A Republican in the US Senate has now stepped forward to condemn the Tennessee state Republican party for running an ad criticizing Michelle Obama’s lack-o’-pride comments, which she made twice on the campaign trail and then tried to explain away. Via The Caucus:
The office of Senator Bob Corker, Republican from Tennessee, has weighed in today, siding with Senator Barack Obama’s objections to the state’s G.O.P. Web campaign against Michelle Obama.
To recap, the officialdom of the Tennessee G.O.P. posted a Web spot that mines remarks Mrs. Obama made in February that “first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.” The ad repeats footage of her speaking those words, interspersed with comments from Tennesseans, talking about how they’ve always been proud to be an American.
…Mr. Corker’s chief of staff, Todd Womack, demanded that his boss’ state party remove the Web ad:
After the Republican National Committee damaged our campaign with their infamous ‘Call Me’ ad — which we immediately denounced — we have strongly encouraged the national party and state parties to absolutely refrain from getting involved in negative personal campaigning, and we have asked the state party to remove their You Tube ad from their Web site.
Republicans will be in much better shape if we spend our time focused on issues like reducing federal spending, lowering the cost of health care and creating a coherent energy policy.
“Negative personal campaigning?” What’s “personal?” Michelle Obama is out on the stump, speaking on behalf of her husband. The only thing “negative” about the Tennessee GOP’s ad came from Michelle Obama’s mouth.
Is it “negative personal campaigning” when candidate spouse Bill Clinton’s public campaign trail remarks are scrutinized, criticized, and analyzed?
Are we to shut up about him, too? Will the Republican civility-mongers not stop until the Right is completely disarmed?
The GOP establishment has been all atwitter of late over its demise and urging itself to “stand for something.” But when its state parties takes a stand–against the radical demagoguery of Jeremiah Wright or against the America-bashing of the Obamas–the party elders quiver like Jell-O on a roller coaster ride.
GOP: The fecklessness we deserve.
***
The Examiner tells the presidential candidates and their wives to suck it up:
Both Barack Obama and John McCain must accept that spouses of presidential candidates are legitimate subjects of public discussion. Protecting a spouse from intrusion into his or her private life is understandable, but a candidate is wholly mistaken to suggest his wife’s statements on the campaign trail about why he should be elected aren’t fair game for criticism, or when he contends his wife’s sources of income should be of no concern to voters. Obama is guilty of the former, McCain of the latter.
…It is unfair to voters for the Obamas to demand that she be allowed to use fighting words without being subject to, yes, a fight.
…As for McCain, he and wife Cindy refuse to release her tax returns. She has a legal right to keep them private, but legality isn’t at issue here. What is at issue is John McCain’s willingness to be subject to credible transparency and accountability.
Even if a husband and wife officially segregate their incomes, family money is fungible. That is why it has become standard practice for presidential candidates to release their tax returns — so the public can decide for itself if any income sources look fishy. It should it be expected of spouses to do the same.
Mrs. McCain is estimated to be worth as much as $100 million. Just as it was absurd for John Kerry to say his wife’s views or vast fortune should be immune from examination, or for Hillary Clinton not to report her husband’s tens of millions in post-presidency “earnings,” so, too, is it nonsensical for McCain to say his wife’s money is none of the public’s business.
McCain has made a career of railing against the allegedly corrupting influence of money in politics. That fact doesn’t give him a “Get out of Jail Free” card on the issue.

Ed Mahmoud…that is exactly why we must vote for McCain. It’s really quite simple.
It’s either McCain or Obama.
Obama isn’t qualified to sew eyeslits on burqas. The fact that a large portion of this country doesn’t care that he is not qualifed illustrates our problem. It’s the IDEOLOGY, not the CAPABILITY that Libtards want.
The destruction of America lead by the socialist/liberals and aptly aided by the GOP(mostly socialist/liberals).
The first thing to do to clean house is to deny John McCain the White House.
You know about 9 years ago it was tough to boycott and if necessary destroy Smith & Wesson after they had signed an agreement with the Clinton Administrationto let them dictate gun policy without interference form conress or the judiciary in exchange for immunity from liability lawsuits….but we as gun owners knew that if Smith and WEsson went along with this without punishment so would Ruger, Remington, and Glock and others-it would have been an end run around the second amendment.
I am not unhappy with the stance I and milions of gun owners took to preserve our way of life then when things were really dark.
Anyone who votes RINO deserves RINO-and should not complain when they get policies they didn’t want. Don’t count me in for a RINO vote.
When frustrated enough with the GOP and are looking for a “CHANGE” read the Constitution Party platform. I’m been a hard conservative Republican until my back can’t take anymore from the current crop of RINO’s. I read the platform, it’s a hell of a lot better than the GOP’s cow towing to liberals platform..
Just saying
RightisRight
The Constitution party does look better and better all the time….
We gave him our two cents worth…
Sounds great in theory, because McCain is a RINO, but when President Duncan Hunter or President Jindal gets all his legislation vetoed by a Supreme Court that is solidly partisan and Democrat because people sat on their hands and allowed Barak Hussein Obama, a barely disguised Marxist, to replace all the old ACLU international socialists, with young ACLU type Marxists, and perhaps replace one of the five justices that isn’t a flat out partisan Democrat hack, well, you’d better not complain about it.
If you allow BHO to become President with a near filibuster proof Senate majority and a Democrat House, you have probably literally signed the death warrant for the United States as a Democratic-Republic with a capitalist economic system. Your taxes will go up, sharply, the military will be gutted and new entitlements instituted to guarantee future Republican administrations don’t have the funding to restore it, a new ‘Fairness Doctrine’ will shut down conservative talk radio, and once the Supreme Court has its Democrat majority, the Second Amendment will be stripped and the only possible legal gun owndership will be low shot capacity hunting rifles.
love2rumba and rightsright,
Now YOU are speaking my language! No more lying down or worse yet, grabbing our ankles for the 3rd party GOP.
It’ll take action, commitment and money to raise up another party above the mainstream DC crowd’s parties, but it is better and it is right if we love this country, to try a peaceful and legal revolution.
Mahmoud abu al-Kahoul, I agree with a lot of what you say may be the result of not voting for McCain, but as an American I have the right to vote for the candidate of my choice, correct. I also have the right as an American not to vote if I feel there is not a candidate that has the values I am looking for. That being said, do not blame us, the conservatives that have been betrayed by our party…the blame rests on the heads of RNC. Elitist bastards they have become…not the sheeple that are tired of being led to slaughter.
Ed, who sent you here? First and foremost, we always have a right to complain and if those two gentleman were in office and got the cold shoulder you refer to, which I agree they would, nothing could be better for us and for the country. The American people are not blind or stupid and they know where the ineffectiveness is. A matter of fact, the people get more upset when the President is doing too much in their eyes.
As for the blame game, that is old and tiring. Losers lose, because they couldn’t win, not because not enough fans showed up for the game. The dolphins would not have had a better season if more fans would have showed up, but they would have had more fans if they knew how to perform.
Being fair game is irrelevant. I am not a McCain supporter or supporter of the
zionist neocon faction which we have today in Washington posing as the republican party. But as a conservative who believes in limited government and civil liberties which are the true conservatives values the Tennessee GOP is taking the wrong approach. They will
not gain any votes by attacking a women’s right to free speech and calling her anti-american because she doesn’t agree with someone else’s point of view. That is a lose-lose situation especially with women. It makes more sense to run ads showing true limited government issue’s especially when the country is dumping 13 billion a month into a war and letting 5 million people walk across the border every year. You have to fight them on the issues not attacks on someones right to free speech because you don’t like what you heard. Conservatives values can win elections on their own merit as most people do not want government in there homes. Unfortunately that is not what the Republican party represents. I repeat they do not represent conservative government anymore. Sure they put words on a web site but they are just words. It’s not how they vote
and hasn’t been for a long long time.
Third party means President Barak Obama with a near filibuster proof Senate majority and a Democrat House.
Socialized medicine will be a fact. Cut-n-run from Iraq, turning it over to be divided between American hating al Qaeda and American hating Iran will be a fact. The gutting of the military will be a fact. Not a certainty, but the Supreme Court and many other federal courts become solidly Democrat for several decades. Between that, and the increased committment to entitlements from socialized medicine, future Presidents will not be able to restore the military. Conservative talk radio will probably be legislated out of existence, with possibly one or two of the most popular, surviving, by a new fairness doctrine that mandates radio stations to balance conservative talk with an equal amount of liberal talk radio. Note, liberal talk radio does not attract much of an audience, and loses money. So some talk-radio stations will drop talk radio completely and change format. So the MSM will have even more influence on an uninformed general public.
Now, the reason we are stuck in this mess, there were two RINOs (well, 3 if you count the Huckster, a social conservative but otherwise liberal RINO). One RINO, Giuliani, had a disasterous campaign strategy, all or nothing on Florida. On the other side, Duncan Hunter, the perfect candidate but low funds and name recognition, Thompson got in late, some questioned if he had the fire, some thought he could have done more on the Judiciary committee, as mentioned, the Huck siphoned conservative votes, Tancredo was similar to Hunter, although more one dimesnsional, and Mitt Romney was perfect on all the issues, but had once been less than perfect on the Second Amendment, and his pro-life conversion had been recent. But his main problem was that he was Mormon, and a lot of Republican voters thought they were electing the Pastor in Chief, and rejected the strongest generally conservative candidate. So, the one RINO got all the independent and Democrat cross-over vote, while the four Republicans and one socially conservative Democrat split the real Republican vote.
It sucks, but the National GOP, while screwed up on a lot of things, didn’t pick McCain. He is the nominee through bad luck.
If you are willing to see the permanent destruction of the United States as a capitalist democracy because McCain is badly flawed, then you are either severely lacking judgement or put pride ahead of patriotism.

When the Republican controlled the H. & Senate-in the mid 90’s – did you see any fight for good judges-illegal immegration control-greater funding for our troops………..? NO
I saw -R EEEEEEAching ACROSS THE AILE.
I saw pork like never before ( Alaka-bridge to no-where anyone?).
30+ years of LESSER OF TWO EVILS has gotten us mess.
I DEMAND more of the GOP
No sh*t! Can you imagine how bad things would have been the last 8 years under democratic leadership? We might have been inundated with uncontrolled immigration. We might be stuck with a wide open southern border. We might have been stuck with ever increasing budget deficits and a government larger then we have ever known. We might have been stuck with an economy that is in the tank and getting worse. We might have been stuck with leftest polices and an ever larger socialist outlook in our government and laws. We might have ended up farther to the left from where we started…Oh wait.
…immigration
…Alaska….
Nobody. I have been registered here for a while.
I followed a link over posted by the one true McCain lover at Gulf Coast Pundit.
Oh, McCain sucks, he says something new and stupid every week, today on Bennett he repeated his idiotic comparison to drilling in ANWR to drilling in the Grand Canyon.
Complaining is fine, but voting third party or not voting and letting a definite communist, and possible Muslim, destroy this country, is so completely self destructive, it can’t be described.
The one thing positive about third party, while it is the same as not voting at all in the presidential race, at lease most will vote for the better Republicans on the undercard. Just staying home means a President Obama with a large majority of Democrats in Congress and at state and local levels.
Romney was a Very Good Governor in a very left leaning state.
McCain is an awful Senator in a Very Conservative Leaning State.
I am not a mormon, and could not care less about Governor Romney’s mormonism.
If someone on my side of the aisle is concerned about Romney on this issue then you may not be what you think you are.
Bigotry against the mormon faith, or bigotry of any strife, has no place in the conservative movement.
We win through the validity of our argument, not by anything else.
Kennedy has a brain tumor, no joke
I still think the GOP’s biggest problem is the lack of cohesive conservative leader. What’s needed is Newt Gingrich without the ethical baggage.
Here here!

Do you really believe that those of us who love this country and our troops are STAYING home on voting day?
Bush, the ‘Compassionate Conservative’ didn’t do our country many favors, but he did prosecute the GWoT and he did appoint two constitutionalist justices to the SCOTUS.
But if you think President Obama will be better, go for it. As it stands now, if we choose a real Republican in 2012, and McCain wins, we can reform all those things. If Obama is the President, his crippling of the military, staffing of courts with hard-core Marxists, and his burdening of the budget with the biggest entitlement yet, socialist medicine, means not even a real Republican will be able to reverse what will then be the inevitable end of this country.
I sympathize with those that say “Let the real Democrat screw it up instead of a RINO, so they get blamed”, but I think Obama, almost certainly a Marxist, very possibly a racist, and possibly a Muslim will do so much damage to this country in four years nobody can reverse it.
And again, the National GOP, although they have drifted far from conservative principles, didn’t give us McCain, bad luck, one competitve RINO against 5 conservatives who split the vote did it.
Frankly, there is nothing to stop it from happening again, short of changing te rules that let registered Democrats vote in some GOP primaries.

How about if we Californians organize and set this great country back on course?
You know what THEY say;
“As goes California-so goes the Nation!”
I hope not. I’m a veteran myself, and will not let the deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq be in vain by letting a cut-n-run communist win.
McCain might win in spite of himself, because Obama is that bad, and if he can’t muzzle his wife, more people will start to get the clue.
I sent money to Duncan Hunter, and would have voted for Romney in Texas when it was obvious it was down to him and McCain, but by then, it was over.
So I did my part for Operation Chaos.
Here’s one more stranger in the strange land of P.R.O.C. that will be happy to join the effort!

MO is learning a very important lesson here – when a liberal says stupid or hateful things there ARE consequences. These elite nutjobs think that their opinions are so profound that we little people should hang on their very words. MO is a very bitter woman thanks to 20 years of sitting in her church. I just can’t see her representing my country as First Lady!

Isn’t it good to know that there are more of us here in CA who love this country than even we realize?!
CS
Let’s organize!
MM — Can we start a thread on Senator Kennedy? I know that the vast majority here do not agree with him on virtually anything (me included), but I’m sure we would all like the opportunity to show we can rise above and offer our condolences and prayers.
I know I for one would like to join Californians and any other state willing to make the GOP the 3rd party.
I am in Texas, voted for Hillary and am now willing to vote for real, on principles, for liberty and justice for all.
Brack and “My Belle” need to be “Swift Boated” at every opportunity….AND THERE ARE MANY ISSUES AVAILABLE! (Yes, Swift Boating is TELLING THE TRUTH!)
I want to see more adds like the one in Tennessee and I want to see them often. These two are racist, Marxist, Muslim sympathizing, elitist, United States hating……and on and on. I want to see the truth told about them and their terrorist friends, Rev Wright mentoring, and all the other wacko beliefs they have.
One thing is for sure, he is showing himself as a first class liar and is very skilled at making many people believe he is fit to run for POTUS let alone be elected. HIT HARD EVERYDAY!!
Concerning Sernator Kennedy’s cancer diagnosis.
I disagree with this man on virtually every major issue.
However we still lose too many to cancer. My mother and father both had cancer. My oldest brother is now recovering from his second cancer operation.
This disease is awful and the treatment can be equally terrible also.
I served with a man who died at 35 of cancer and am friends with a man who found at OCS he had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (Spelling??).
My point, well my prayers go out to Senator Kennedy and his family.
Great idea. I forwarded the contact info to several of my likeminded friends so they could submit words of support — but not before I sent an email thanking the Senator for standing up for decency and focusing on the real issues.
Notice which party actually prays…
Christian Soldier # 124.
All for that, now how do we contact each other? Do you belong to any other forums that have a PM option?
You guys have it all wrong.
GOP Senators are not there to represent YOU. At least not in their minds.
Once they get elected, they are there to preserve the Senate and their “collegiality”, and join the most elite country club in the nation – and their fellow members mean more to them than you do.
They now belong to the group of privileged, elites who “Havent paid for a meal in 20 years” like Trent Lott / Ted Kennedy.
They are most certainly NOT beholden to you for anything other than being their willing dupes and voting them into office.
Once again, they’ve become the old Country Club Repubs, not Ronald Reagan’s Sam’s Club Repubs.
There are few exceptions to this, sad to say.
Time for another (Goldwater/Reagan) Revolution in the GOP, to punch the blue-bloods in the nose and kick them out of office.
Let us hope that MM does not honor this request. I don’t want to say something real tasteless at such a moment, but I don’t need to be pushed to the wall by one of these maudlin threads where conservatives get all weepy about someone who has been a particularly nasty enemy for many years.
We have heroic soldiers dying in Iraq daily. We do not honor them individually in this sort of a space. I feel no need to get weepy over Ted Kennedy’s diagnosis.
I feel sorry for anyone with cancer, even Ted Kennedy.
But since the mid 1960s, when he destroyed the immigration system that favored immigrants who had talents to benefit this country with a system based solely on rewarding those with family already here, his cooperation with the Soviet Union in the 1980s, his opposition to every aspect of the war to keep America safe from further attack by Islamic terrorists, not to mention his vehicular homicide, when he decided to walk home, sleep it off, then call a lawyer for advice while a young woman slowly suffocated in an air pocket, well, Ted Kennedy has been an enemy from within of the United States, and a person hard to generate too much sympathy for.
There is a Ted Kennedy thread, which I will not comment on. I know if Bush or Cheney were sick, the liberal blogs would be in full celebration mode right now, and I don’t want to be part of a right wing reflection of that.
He has lived a horrible and selfish personal life, and his policies have been destructive to this country. Maybe facing the prospects of death will finally make him reflect on his shortcomings, and seek to make peace for what he has done.
This quote from Ignatius and the next post by Ed say it all. I say we all stop talking about Kennedy from here forward. We need to say nothing about him as far as I am concerned if we want to rise above the fray, but to do anything else besides pray for his soul personally is wrong as well. I think saying nothing would be just as good.
Here are some not so fun facts regarding abortion and certainly those in power responsible for such an atrocity will have this hanging over their heads as well. Like I say, I pray for their souls and nothing else at this point.
In 2002 the number of abortions in the US – 1,293,000
Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,500
From 1973 through 2002, more than 42 million legal abortions occurred.
I suspect that is one reason why some parts of the Republican Party are pro-amnesty. The workforce, especially as it pertains to Social Security, is getting imbalanced, with the number of young working people shrinking as a proportion of the people at or approaching retirement age. Social Security is basically a big Ponzi scheme, and if you are going to kill tens of millions of the young before they are even born, you need to find young workers somewhere.
And the cheapest labor is the illegal labor.
Democrats, of course, know that most illegals will vote Democrat once given citizenship, and, as seen when Loretta Sanchez ‘defeated’ Bob Dornan about ten years ago, some illegals don’t wait for amnesty to vote Democrat.
So, if a Democrat makes a negative comment and a Republican simply quotes the Democrat, it is the Republican who is doing the negative campaigning. The Democrat, who made the comment in the first place, gets a free pass.
I can understand Democrats wanting to establish such a double standard, but why would any Republican fall for it? What a maroon!
This is a “drive-by” posting as I’m in a hurry and don’t have names, but remember the very last minute Michael J. Fox attack on a senator up for re-election that was all lies?
It was splashed all over the country with without time for the senator to respond. The dems play very dirty and we’re supposed to sit back and act like saints?
I’ve said so often hubby’s tired of hearing it, “As soon a Republican arrives in DC, they take them to a special place and give them a spinectomy! Then they take the spine, and insert it into wimps like Puff Daschle & Dirty Harry Reid!”
This is just proof of my theory!
Michelle inserted herself into the fray by her outrageous comments spiked with anti-Americanism. If she and Chelsea dont wanna take the heat, just shut the hell up. Waa, waa, waa
Corker is yet another weak-willed RINO who doesn’t hold to conservative principles. It’s sad, really. What the state party does is its business, not Corker’s. If Corker wants to be a McCain surrogate, that’s one thing, but to tell a state party what to do and how to conduct a campaign, then that’s way beyond his authority.
Maybe Corker is trying to play the nice guy role like McCain and it won’t work. As much as the Dems complain that Repubs “fight dirty” using third-party scumbags like Moveon comes right out of their playbook.
Gentleman like Corker need to stop pretending that people like dear Mrs. Obummer are beyond criticism. This is politics, not gardening. If you want a gentle touch, cultivate flowers.
If Cindy McCain wants to keep her tax returns private, more power to her. She is not running for president and they have never filed a joint return. This drum beat to release (non relevant) tax returns is BS. Hang in there Cindy.
McCain is speaking at the NAACP convention in July.
This Tennessee Republican thinks that Corker ought-a put a cork in it, himself!
If you can’t handle free speech then get out of politics.
I just love people, posing as “conservatives,” saying racist things that only people would say about either the Israelis or about Republicans in general. If you really want to be relevant, stop mimicking tired, old conspiracy-laden belief systems personified by anti-war zealots.
Puleeze. Stop representing all women. As a woman, I’d rather have a party stand for its principles and stop being spineless than run away from an issue like Michelle Obummer. What the hell do you want? I think you want your cake and eat it too.
It’s really just pathetically sad that like Ron Paul and his ilk, you decry what our military is doing in Iraq. How you think that opinion is the least bit helpful is like saying that Moveon trashed Petraeus because they loved him.
No one is attacking Michelle Obummer’s right to free speech. To suggest otherwise is deceitful and uninformed. Michelle Obummer has every right to trash her country but Republicans have the right to challenge her on that. It’s called political discourse.
Why don’t you write in Ron Paul this election cycle? I’m sure you’d be comfortable thinking voting for such a nut or aligning yourself with him will really do any of us any good.
I’m in agreement with Zheldon – I too would vote for CHillary above the other two bozos. Juan McShame will destroy the Republican party and B-Hussein will destroy the USA. But CHillary will destroy her enemies – many of whom now are Dimocrats
You go girl. (Omigosh, I can’t believe that I find myself supporting a woman I have loathed for 16 years!!! But when she is the least of three evils, what is a person to do?)
If CHillary can’t be the nominee, I’ll be voting third party, I guess, and lighting extra candles for our country.
And have you noticed the growing list of topics we cannot talk about re B-Hussein?
- his middle name
- his jihadist relatives
- his pastor
- his ‘friends’
- his church
- his own comments
- his surrogates’ (including his wife’s comments)
All we are allowed to say, it appears, is what a grand guy he is (barf).

ED
The bottom line of political effectiveness is how much social and cultural power do you wield unhindered on any given political initiative.
If we have John McCain and his RINO allies rewarded for their acts against conservatives, we will not be respected by our enemies within the REpublican Party or the Democrat party-we will be viewed as cheap whores who can be bought off every time we rant justifiably. Bill Clinton tried his lawsuit immunity with gunmakers on the belief, that gunowners would never boycott and seek to destroy a renegade gunmaker the way they actually did. Libs like Bill, Hillary, and Obama think we are extreme and crazy-but they are hesitant to hurt us now unlike 8 years ago-they know how we denied them power for 12 years in the house alone, and power is all they care about.
Ed, think about this for a minute: how effective will we be in any administration if our efforts are blunted by people in our so-called party, many of whom officially love Obama who have (and probably still) worked for MCCAin?
McCain will hobble us all the time, and we will still see Obamatrons in the Democrat Party and in the Republican Party like an infestation.
All those of you who will still support McCain are doing is forcing by necessity the exile of conservatives out of the Republican Party to join or form 3rd party voting blocks that will take years to become effective!!!
It is a whole lot easier and cheaper to clean a existing home of rats so that conservatives can stay in it and utilize its structure, than it is to abandon it and build a new one.
I, for one, ED would rather be feared in my politcal home, than have to leave to start a new one-thus it is imperitive that we clean the house we already have–starting with John McCain
This house-cleaning should have been done years ago.
Christian Soldier – # 151, I just sent you a message.
With bafoons like Corker, GOP is destined for big humiliation in November.
Instead of fighting the Democrats, he is fighting his own troops!
What a moron!
RE: #105
ED…. Here is a primary example of what we will face if McCain is elected as President:
An administration wracked with RINO/Demo 5th column: Is that what you want?
love2rumba.
Well, a real conservative President and Congress won’t be able to clean house with a solid Demonrat majority in the Supreme Court, which is likely after 4 years of Obama.
A real conservative President will have to face the world with little discretionary spending left in the budget after Obama’s massive health care entitlement. And entitlements don’t go away. Few massive programs do. Reagan wanted to eliminate the Department of Education, but couldn’t. Nobody even tries to eliminate Medicare or Social Security.
Obama will have four years of slashing the budget of the military, and appointing like minded liberals to senior positions in the military.
I’m not sure this country will survive the aftermath of four years of a Marxist American hating President.
The good news is, Obama is so bad, McCain might win depsite the need to shoot himself in the foot by saying something stupid each day, usually aimed at his own party. Enough of the white working class Dems might cross over to vote for him that key states like Ohio and Pennsylvania go to McCain.
McCain is a big, pus filled ingrown hair on the butt of the Republican party. Not a nice thing, but amputating the nation at the waist with a chainsaw by allowing a CPUSA (which is what the Dems are now, with a couple of exceptions like Lieberman) POTUS and Congress four years to do as they please, might kill the patient (the US as a capitalist Democracy).
RE: post #159 by Ed Mahmoud abu al-Kahoul
I think we agree with what is best for the country, but differ on how to best effect that, Ed.
The truth (and this is my opinion) is the country will survive, because even the democrat snob rich want to make money and will torpedo attempts to economically screw them, and they can’t do it to completely benefit just themselves themselves -in other words there are things beyond their control and our control that limit what happens, so I for one, will take solice.
The next 4 + years will be scary-no doubt about that.
But picture this-we should have been overrun by lib objectives to this point-amnesty, gun control, health care- etc. and they haven’t happened-why? I propose, Ed, that in order for the democrats to make unroads in Red States, they had to give up slipping in complete marxists, but instead have people run for office who are a lot closer politically to the people they represent-what they gained in power, they lost in ideological control.
This is an event we can use like a judo flip. We make our voice known, stop or start legislation apart from the RINOs, and create enough fear and doubt about our power, that they hesitate to go after us…this gives us an edge in handling whoever gets in.
I disagree with you only in that I believe that to keep maximum power to grassroots conservatives during this era we are about to go into, we have to do serious house cleaning now not later- to wait later only invites worse ruin, in my opinion.
Take care, Ed. You are a good debater, and I do respect your input.
You know, republicans, when the democrats decide on who’s running for office, your divisions are going to stick out like a sore thumb and be all the fanfare. Hopefully, you can mend them in time.
The presidential election is going to be a lot like looking into a toilet and picking the least offensive turd.
Courtesy flush please.
