I don’t see how you can be both for the war and support the troops. Imaginary WMD is worth the killing of so many Iraqis and Americans? A corrupt culture like that of Iraq is going to turn into a democracy? The Iraqis are going to love us after so many of them have been killed and maimed, their infrastructure and cultural assets demolished?

Must really get your pink panties in a wad to see the Al Qadea and Taliban getting the crap beat out of them.

Their 'infrastructure and cultural assets' consisted of a 40-year dictatorship by a megalomaniac who produced mass graves, killed 5000 Kurds with 'imaginary' nerve gas, placed dissidents in torture chambers and prison, and supported terrorist organizations.

And since you've brought up the standard lie about "imaginary" WMDs:

1,500 gallons of chemicals believed destined for attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces and civilians.

Those weapons were previously unknown to the U.N. inspectors.

I had an incident like that at Seatac back in 2004 when I was coming back from Iraq for some well deserved R&R. I was in my desert uniform and a couple college age girls approached me and one of them called me a baby killer (I guess she wanted to be retro). I just told her, “I am sorry you must have mistaken me for somebody else. I do not beleive in abortion.” and walked off.

Great line! As retired Navy, I got the 'dirty swabbie' treatment during the VietNam era, but it wasn't like some of the other things I read/heard about. What is this country coming to?

Imaginary WMD

When is this lie going to stop? How doltish does one need to be, to continue believing that because we didn't find giant silos bristling with missiles below a sign with 5-foot lettering reading 'WMD HERE', there weren't any? You do know that a Sucrets box with plutonium in it is just as destructive, right?

This is too easy: if they speak to me, no problem. After operating in a combat zone, what can they really say to get me to lose my discipline? I know who I am, what I've done, and for what and whom I stand.
Now, if they touch me or a fellow Soldier (ha) then that's when the police/ambulance need calling. Not for our protection, but to clean up the mess in isle 4.

I've seen the opposite more than a couple of times. While having lunch at a restaurant I've seen complete strangers walk up to men in uniform and thank them for their service and shake their hands. Also while getting off a cruise ship last month we had a WWII veteran on board in one of those scooters. The line to get off the boat was very long and TSA told him and his wife to go to the front of the line. The guy had trouble hearing so most people were telling his wife "Tell you husband I said thank your for his service".

Wow, I am deafened by the liberals and all of their outrage over this hate crime. Oh, sorry, I guess I am just deafened over the silence.

The unhinged moonbat idiots that do this only do it because they know that our military personnel are extremely disciplined and won't kick their butts from one end of the block to the next.I do think that our military men and women should carry cell phones with cameras so that they can identify the perps and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. If that doesn't work then maybe we need to ask the Patriot Guard to start patrolling the metro so that a huge biker whose also a Vietnam Veteran can stand in between the anti-war coward and the hero.

I witnessed a moving scene at the Atlanta airport last July. As I was returning to the main terminal after having seen my grandson off on his flight, I heard clapping and cheering ahead of me. Everyone was looking up at the mezzanine level, so I hurried along to see what was up there. Soldiers! The good civilians at Hartsfield Airport were honoring a group of American soldiers! It was just one of many, many times I've been proud of my country.

It's been a long day, so I'll keep the rest of my comments short:

MNUSMCDavid, 05/21/08
God bless & keep your son!
Chesty, meet Lulu & Friends.
Terrifying and sad, yes. Alternatives? I don't see any.

I've been riding the DC Metro for over five years now, past the Pentagon on the Blue Line that services Reagan National Airport. There's plenty of military members in uniform commuting during rush hour, sometimes even a general. I've never seen a negative incident with a military guy.

I used to run into a crazy person on the Metro about once every six months, but haven't seen one for two years. Something got 'em, I guess.

Now, DC has it's share of lefty loons. Back when the anti-war movement was cooking, I went to about ten "peace" marches and found plenty of uncivil behavior. The marchers were particularly enraged at counter-protestors who they cursed and yelled at, kept away by a line of police. I've been physically assaulted twice by "peace" demonstrators at "peace" marches. By contrast, nobody laid a hand on me in anger in eight years in the USAF. So there are plenty of "peace" thugs in DC.

Even so, I believe that these incidents of abuse toward service members, however infuriating and outrageous, are anomalies rather than features of the DC Metro. My guess is that a guy in uniform is in more danger of sleeping through his stop than being harassed by anybody.

However, even though military members in uniform can't fight back, the rest of us can should such a situation present itself. There are a lot of vets riding the rails in DC. It seems unwise for the lefty scum to choose it as their battleground. Things could go horribly wrong for them. And really, we've had enough of that.

I’ve been physically assaulted twice by “peace” demonstrators at “peace” marches. By contrast, nobody laid a hand on me in anger in eight years in the USAF. So there are plenty of “peace” thugs in DC.

Even so, I believe that these incidents of abuse toward service members, however infuriating and outrageous, are anomalies rather than features of the DC Metro. My guess is that a guy in uniform is in more danger of sleeping through his stop than being harassed by anybody.

However, even though military members in uniform can’t fight back, the rest of us can should such a situation present itself. There are a lot of vets riding the rails in DC. It seems unwise for the lefty scum to choose it as their battleground. Things could go horribly wrong for them. And really, we’ve had enough of that.

I'm glad we weren't stationed in DC, or my husband would have "wife severely thrashed anti-war protester" on his permanent record and have his security clearance yanked.

On a brighter note, it was nice to see all the folks giving the troops nods and salutes at the Omaha airport when I picked him up for Christmas.
