Blowing the whistle on a La Raza school
I’ve reported in-depth on publicly-subsidized La Raza/The Race schools that abandon academics for Aztlan studies. The US Department of Education has forked over $8 million in public charter school grants to La Raza/The Race, which helps propagate such multi-culti claptrap as “Aztec math” in dozens of Mecha madrassas.
Now, John A. Ward, a former teacher at a Tucson High School magnet school that peddles a Raza/Race curriculum, gives an insider’s look at what’s being taught on your dime. Ward has been attacked as a “sellout” because of his Hispanic heritage. Here’s a key excerpt, but read the whole thing:
During the 2002-2003 school year, I taught a U.S. history course with a Mexican-American perspective. The course was part of the Raza/Chicano studies department.
Within one week of the course beginning, I was told that I was a “teacher of record,” meaning that I was expected only to assign grades. The Raza studies department staff would teach the class.I was assigned to be a “teacher of record” because some members of the Raza studies staff lacked teaching certificates. It was a convenient way of circumventing the rules.
I stated that I expected to do more than assign grades. I expected to be involved in teaching the class. The department was less than enthusiastic but agreed.
Immediately it was clear that the class was not a U.S. history course, which the state of Arizona requires for graduation. The class was similar to a sociology course one expects to see at a university.Where history was missing from the course, it was filled by controversial and biased curriculum.
The basic theme of the curriculum was that Mexican-Americans were and continue to be victims of a racist American society driven by the interests of middle and upper-class whites. In this narrative, whites are able to maintain their influence only if minorities are held down. Thus, social, political and economic events in America must be understood through this lens.
This biased and sole paradigm justified teaching that our community police officers are an extension of the white power structure and that they are the strongmen used “to keep minorities in their ghettos.”It justified telling the class that there are fewer Mexican-Americans in Tucson Magnet High School’s advanced placement courses because their “white teachers” do not believe they are capable and do not want them to get ahead.
It justified teaching that the Southwestern United States was taken from Mexicans because of the insatiable greed of the Yankee who acquired his values from the corrupted ethos of Western civilization.
It was taught that the Southwest is “Atzlan,” the ancient homeland of the Aztecs, and still rightfully belongs to their descendants - to all people of indigenous Mexican heritage.
As an educator, I refused to be complicit in a curriculum that engendered racial hostility, irresponsibly demeaned America’s civil institutions, undermined our public servants, discounted any virtues in Western civilization and taught disdain for American sovereignty.
When I raised these concerns, I was told that I was a “racist,” despite being Hispanic. Acknowledging my heritage, the Raza studies staff also informed me that I was a vendido, the Spanish term for “sellout.”
The Tucson public school system is a favorite breeding ground for the Raza/Race ethnic nationalists.
You may recall that open-borders radical Dolores Huerta–Hillary Clinton’s campaign co-chair–was an invited speaker at a mandatory assembly at Tucson High Magnet School, where she inveighed that “Republicans hate Latinos.”
Flashback: Conservative high school student objects to Huerta’s hate-speak.
What does upcoming La Raza/The Race annual conference speaker John McCain have to say about this abuse of tax dollars for the spread of poisonous open-borders propaganda?
Ask him! 50 more brownie points available now.

Teaching Reconquista that American schools don’t teach
Whoa, I feel I need to cling to my guns in a real bitter way.
I lived in Tucson for many years before leaving it in the early 90’s. It USED TO BE a wonderful place to live. From what I see now it’s just L.A. Lite.
¿ninguÌn niño se fue detrás?
Mr. Ward Welcome to the club! you are not alone!
I was called a coconut long before “vendido” term was used.
Coconut is brown on the outside and white on the inside.
Surprise, surprise, La Raza is using our public government schools and tax payer dollars to teach racism and bigotry.
When will people realize we already have Socialism, and this is what it leads to.
Another reason to not support Juan McAmnesty. These are the people to whom he’s pandering.
Remember the melting pot?
Everytime I get an email from McCain Campaign asking for money (got one today) I answer back until you cancel your LaRaza Speech and stop promoting comprehensive immigration i.e. amnesty you will not see a vote or a dime from this constituent!
Reconquista is Hate pure and simple, as well as the practice of perpetuating ignorance and very possibly encouragement of the overthrow of the Government and total disdain for US Law.
Why that school has not been closed down amazes me. Tolerance of this Reconquista mindset may reach it’s limits very soon as the actual cost to the taxpayer for this bull$hit will become intolerable.
Sheriff Joe has the right idea. Tucson hasn’t got it yet. Wait til the economy gets tighter and those that foot the bill for this nonsense become more aware of the rat holes that their dollars are going to.
The awakening will be rude for sure but it is coming.
No points for you!!!
While sad, I cant believe people are allowing this crap to be put into our childrens head. But i’m not surprised in the least at this. It’s par for the course.
Why can we not get rid of La Raza once and for all? How long will people let these racist idiots to surplant their culture and get rid of ours, and use our resources to do it.
but really, isn’t this the same black nationalist education with black scratched out and latino inked in? it will result in the same marginalization, which of course keeps the narrative alive.
#15 exactly the same
LaRaza, the real vendidos.
Is Michelle Obama a former graduate?
Get yer Negative Point Offsets here while supplies last!
old trooper nailed it. It is a rathole.
Teaching racism on tax payer dollars, circumventing state curriculum regulations, letting anti-american fascists take over our learning institutions???
But who are you going to go to for leadership? State Senator McCain? Governor Napolitano (potential Barrack running mate)? Senator Kyle (McCain apologist)?
Arizona is screwed. We are screwed.
Hamas, and Hizbolla teaches their children to hate Jews, and Infidels. Obama’s non-Christian Church teaches their black brothers, and sisters to hate white males. LaRaza, theaches their children to hate white males.
Why do I write arm yourselves? See above.
Ah, the old “racists’ defense. A tried and tue defense of the race hustlers. For the life of me, I can not understand how our gov’t is so blind to the dangers imposed by this group (especially when you throw in MeCHA and LULAC). We are being undermined by a bunch of ingrates who are using our freedoms against us (not to mention our hospitality and inclusiveness). How can the pols not see this will imperil (dangerously) them or their children as well one day. This kind of nonsense leads to more than just words when they actually do gain power. Sigh. We are sowing the seeds of our own destruction.
How is it that the all knowing federal government with all its mandates as to what you can and cannot do in schools allow this mish mash of anti-American teachings in schools like the Islamic influenced charter school and this disgraceful institution. How is it not traiterous to instill hostility towards your country into the children for whom they’re responsible? How is it permitted to create curricula that are misleading and harmful. I would really like to see these stories on the front pages of mainline newspapers and on the evening news but I know that’s an impossible dream!
After John McCain gets elected, the sun will come out and all the peoples and childrens will be flying kites and peace will reign throughout the world.
Foark ovur mah poytz
Schools in the southwest are teaching regurgitated Mexican “history,” schools in the north/Great Lakes/midwest are teaching Islam, schools in the south (and probably everywhere else) are teaching revamped black/slavery/anti-white history……..
Who’s teaching actual American history???
Examples anybody?
This is long, but well worth reading. Just substitue Mecha/La Raza where appropriate.
Newt Gingrich.
Leepro, I want to learn all about the Boston Tea Party. I think it’s about time we held one of our own!!
Here in Dallas, I started seeing a lot of ‘LaRaza’ stickers on cars and trucks, and wondered why.
Well, I googled and found this as #1…
“La Raza 93.7 / KNOR-FM Dallas, Texas”
Spiffy.
Ha! Right! As if every year, thousands of minorities set out for college, 1500 SAT scores in hand, only to be turned back at the barrio border by THE MAN.
Ignorance, xenophobia and sloth “keep minorities in their ghettos.”
Death from within. And when I said this back in the seventies when the madness began, people said it was just me, common sense would prevail and my personal favorite “but that could never happen in America!”
Sometimes being right just sucks and you wish you really had been wrong.
Actually, I have a friend who’s children are half Costa Rican, half Lebanese. They were home schooled for a couple of years and now all are doing very well in the local high schools. The fourteen year old was doing a paper on who he felt was one of the most influential Americans and he chose…
Benjamin Franklin. Keep these kids away from the propaganda claptrap and they are able to see the truth on their own. There is hope.
Reading this story made my Blood Pressure go up 30 in the systolic number!!!!! This is crazy, and outrageous.

I’ve been studying history, as a hobby, ever since I was 14.(I went to Gettysburg on a school trip and came home totally confused). Most “history” is biased to the victor, or the one presently in power, so it takes time, digging, to get to the real facts. Our own history, taught in our schools, tend to be biased…or just plain wrong in some cases. The vast majority of the mistakes can be placed with the books, the teacher has to use. This Mexican-American approach is just plain wrong. The intent is, not to teach correct history, but to teach political correctness. and to inflame the passions of hate. I despise that type of teaching, simply because the kids are trusting and innocent. Politics, pure and simple. All for votes and power. Eventually, the pot will boil over and we will have a “fight” on our hands. I’m close to retirement and I sympathize with younger people. You’ll have to fight the battles. I’ll be in my rocking chair, buried in some other obscure history book.
right_on, that’s an excellent presentation of the Muslim virus and what’s in store for us if we don’t shut down immigration from the third world.
Every day we inch closer to the point where the outcome will need to be defined not by politics, policy, law or reason, but by firepower. By force this land was taken, & by force only can it be held. But force can also be passive, blood need not be spilled… let us start with the fence.
To find the real racists I merely look for which group is screaming “Racist!!” at me (me being the white man) the loudest. That is where you find real racism.
To find it taught at government sanctioned charter schools comes as no surprise.
This stuff is so depressing. Maybe I should just quit my job, admit my depression and let the government take care of me…
In other news, on May 5th, my employer held a training for sensitivity to the plight of immigrants. The trainer, a man who works for Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, spoke about how we have it so easy and immigrants (illegal) have it so hard.
For instance, we all wake up in the morning, take our showers, and think about all the happy, lovely things going on in our lives. “Undocumented workers” wake up from a troubled sleep, fearing that today may be the day they get discovered, arrested, or deported. They can’t sleep, or eat, or shower without this fear consuming them.
Aaawwwwwwwwwww. Pobrecitos.
The trainer also handed out examples of pamphlets and packets that they provide to illegals.
Check out this helpful resource about what to do if you are caught in a raid.
Bleeecchhhh. Sorry, I just vomited.

Yes, hats off to right_on… but the growth(Muslin)that worries me is from our own prison system… I believe (*no lgm I am not certain, & I could be statistically incorrect) that we churn out more from prison that come in from the outside.
two words: CHILD ABUSE.
Seriously - check out that link I left above - that is, if your blood pressure isn’t too high already
liberty - Wonder why that info isn’t in Espanol.
No doubt they have that version. Unreal.
Opportunities for all! Yeup… we owe everyone in the entire world and opportunity to ruin our country.
I can’t thank Mr. Ward and of course our lovely hostess (do I get brownie points for sucking up?
) enough for coming forward and blowing the whistle on this den of traitors. It does make the blood boil to think our stolen income goes to this kind of crap.
My favorite part is the nice Mexican-looking cartoon lady saying, “Some people who are not United States citizens have been arrested or detained by the U.S. government. Learn how to protect yourself if this happens to you!”
And then there’s the saaaad guy above her being arrested…

grunt,
You are correct. There are places in South Phoenix I would not go even clinging to my guns. And if McCain gets elected what loser is going to replace him? Surely they would not appoint JD.
If you lose a war or sell your land, you no longer own it.(Southwest US)
If someone owns the land you once owned and gives it to someone else and you fight them for it and lose over and over again, it is still their land.(Israel)

Where I live in New Jerset, the oath teachers take states that they must uphold the Constitution.
These people should have their teaching licenses revoked for violating the oath.
Oops! Forgot. The article said they don’t have certified teachers.
Elect Juan McAmnesty El Predidente and that will get him out of the Senate!
Where’s mah pointz?
Are you serious?!?!?
I’ve never heard of teachers having to take such an oath! I did not take such an oath when I was teaching! Can you verify that with citations?

No points for me either and I don’t want to get banned so I will leave it to your imagination.
By allowing the “Latino” ethnicity (all Hispanics are now considered “white” by the US government) to be catered too for education and language needs etc., they as a people are allowing themselves to be suppressed; then cry foul play. There isn’t any other foreign culture that is catered to as the Hispanic population and the other cultures not only learn the language and are fluent in it, they live the American dream without government aid. If we don’t get a grip on this problem soon, I fear we will be partaking in a civil war.
Can a school such as this really be accredited, if so are all Arizona school so degenerate, and if not is there an educational alert at the collegiate level to make sure such students are not admitted.
Lets see, LaRaza math: all intricate algorithms that can be done using eight fingers. Such complicated formulas as add one finger or remove one finger, how many fingers remain. Advanced LaRaza math involves all intricate finger algorithms but the use of the two thumbs are included (can lead to a token Ph.D in math and a six figure income…you know the kind of work Americans won’t do).
La Raza and MALDF OWN the H. stuies programs in the CA University system and have for a VEEEERy long time
My tax $$$$$ at work.
…studies
Lets see, Mexican history. They got their a$$ kicked in Texas, then they sold it to us. The End. Did I leave out anything ?
To provide aid and comfort to the enemy is treason.
La Raza is the enemy.
It is the enemy because it hates this country and its citizens and means to destroy the former and enslave the latter.
Anyone who provides aid or comfort to Razies is a traitor.
Is the logic wrong? If so, point out the error.
If the logic is right, how hard is it to use the “T-word” on McCain and his ilk?
Don’t you mean L.A. Dark?
Um, yeah, the fact that the TEXANS kicked their
assarmys FIRST. THEN, the TEXANS became part of America. THEN, America kicked Mexicosassarmys AGAIN.Oh, and if you count Poncho Villa, America did it a third time too!
(self censored)
We have nothing to fear from these people. They are just loud and wrong. America is strong enough to stand up to a few idiots.
Members of The Minuteman Organization—as well as other individuals/groups began investigating the Raza studies material/classes at this school about 7 months ago.
It was discovered that the school district is spending $26 million a year toward these ethnocentric classes/programs, including the Raza Studies.
Yet, last year, the school district said that they did not have enough money for the Summer school program for ALL students.
Here is the original article about this, if anyone wants to comment there as well!!

‘Revolution’ one of the R’s taught in Tucson
Doug MacEachern
February 16, 2008
Arizona Republic
“Augustine Romero, director of Tucson Unified School District’s ethnic-studies department, is nothing if not candid about his program.
Traditional history and civics courses, Romero argues, have “been highly ineffective to children of color.” He has a better way.
That better way, as presented to students in Romero’s increasingly influential program, is, effectively, revolution. Or, if that “R-word” strikes you as too edgy, resistance - a resistance against history and civics as traditionally taught, which Romero considers the product of “ultraconservatives.”

Contact your congress members and DEMAND that they stop all federal money—in other words, your tax dollars—from going to La Raza!!
Also, say “NO” to the “No Child Left Behind Program”. La Raza is now involved in ALL aspects of the “NCLB” Program—which is why millions of tax payers dollars now have to be spent on ESL classes, teachers, tutors, programs, etc. for the children of illegals!!!
Don’t forget…….
This was also the school district that made national news about 4 months ago….
As one of the parents exposed the fact that the children in a 3rd grade class were required to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish every morning!!!
I love tea parties. I think America is on the verge of one.
LA RAZA SCHOOL, MADRASA SCHOOL… What’s the DIFF???
A litte tidbit not taught in US history: William Tecumseh Sherman (that same civil war Sherman) opposed the peace treaty with Mexico because it did “not impress the Mexicans with respect for us”. The US should have “burned their capital, blown up San Juan d’Alloa, knocked down Mazatalan” as a way of indicting “the obstinate pride, egotism and nonsense that characterized them as a people”. Sherman had little tolerance for people who did not respect the bearers of law and order. (form Sherman, by J. Marszalek) How different things would be today, if Sherman had had his way.

Ethnic studies dept. could grow, reach younger kids
By Rhonda Bodfield
ARIZONA DAILY STAR
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 05.25.2008
“Calls are heating up to kill the Tucson Unified School District’s ethnic studies program at the same time it becomes more likely that the district’s most controversial department could expand to reach more, and younger, students.
Critics, from the state’s schools chief to lawmakers to conservative talk-show hosts and columnists, have singled out Mexican-American/Raza Studies in particular, saying it’s divisive and turns students into angry revolutionaries.
…….For now, she’s asking for a discussion about equity within the ethnic studies’ $2.3 million budget, given that African-American Studies gets more funding and staff in a district overwhelmingly Latino. ”
