Reminds me of growing up in a small, conservative Colorado mountain town. Everyone had a gun rack in the truck. Heck, we even got excused days off of school to go hunting. We were actually allowed to bring our rifles to shop class (remember shop class??) and clean them as projects.
These days, my home town has been taken over by Hollywood liberals. It doesn’t even remotely resemble the place I grew up in. Glad to see a place like Butler, MO, still believes in God, Guns and Guts.
Well, it would be against Federal law without a background check. Plus, you can see the requirement in the picture at the top of the article.
My father-in-law is going to help us purchase our first hand gun, and the necessary security features to keep it from falling into the wrong hands.
We are getting it before November – in case Obama wins.
They’ll take away my right to defend myself, my property, and – most important – my family when they pry my soon-to-be-acquired gun from my cold, dead hands.

There are a couple of car dealerships in the D/FW Metroplex that periodically
offer guns or boots (not at same time) with their car sales. Never has been an uproar around here over them except for some of the Newbie Dhimms that just moved here from UpNorth and pretty much deplore everything about Texas. Never have figured out what they are doing here unless they’ve
worn out their welcome back home and/or can’t get a job anywhere else.

I am currently working on paying down my personal debt (especially since our current trip to the Oregon coast), but depending on how the elections go I will placing an order with my local gun dealer for one more personal defense weapon before the winner can do anything to stop me. Once I have it I will have no problem telling any government agency coming for any of my weapons ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE.

I’ve been in the market for a personal firearm for a while. I have small children though, and not sure what to get and how safe i can make them (vs functional in a pinch…a gun lock during a crucial moment can be very bad)

Soap…. I stand corrected, but then that little pea shooter isn’t what I carry, but anything to stop a threat works in my book. I carry a 38/357 S&W revolver 6015 3 in barrel…. I have an inside the waist band holster that works fine.
I really want a Glock Model 26 when I purchase a vehicle. Not happening even in my new town of Houston,TX. I like Texas for the concealed permits you can get. It seems there is alot more fighting back when people are attacked by criminals. Just a thought from a liberal from NY.
A Wyoming boy, I grew up with guns…always loaded…The only way guns are a danger is when they are in the wrong hands…Millions and millions of guns in the USA have NEVER been fired in anger, at another human, or used incorrectly in any way! I see stories more and more frequently where the use, or just the presence of a gun, saved a life or prevented a crime….No statistics seem to be available in that regard, and I believe that stories and statistics regarding the criminal use of guns is always “front page” and usually overblown, just like bad news from Iraq…Good news from Iraq and positive stories where a gun is involved just don’t seem to fit the “main stream” agenda….Remember this is absolutely true, Several million American firearms killed not one person today, yesterday, or ever….and you will never see that in print…

Abstract, I would check out both the Glock and the Taurus for good deals and quality. The 10mm or .40 is also pretty nice. A heavy slide action (And you can easily have a slide spring changed out with one that requires much more pull) should prevent small hands from chambering a round. Put in some good gun education and I would believe that you should be okay.
Englishqueen#13: You go girl! Good guns are expensive, but $250 is a good start. May I recommend a nice .45 auto, you don’t need to shoot an attacker twice with one, but it’s always nice to have more fire power, just in case.

For home defense, may I suggest a “hallway hammer?” A 12 gauge pump action shotgun, sporting an 18 1/2 inch bbl, loaded with 000 buck.
Not only is this intimidating to see and hear, at the ballistic end, it will take out anything in the hallway with those .38 caliber lead balls. I have one for my last line of defense in case of home invasion. Of course, I’m a “gun-crazed” conservative, so this is only my LAST line of defense should “those who prey on the helpless” get past my other “stashed” weapons. My opinion only!
Place and keep the shotgun strategically located for optimum defense, and out of the reach/hidden from your children. My last stand location is the master bedroom closet…only one way in.

I keep swords around the house (collector), and my children dont have access to them. But i fully plan to teach my kids gun responsibility and safety and martial arts.
I want them to be prepared for both the best, and worst, life has to offer. Always hoping for the best.
I too believe in education as to the capability and use of firearms. My daughter is a teen and has been trained in the responsible use of firearms for several years now. I keep trigger locks on mine generally during the day and remove the one on my primary defense arm at night. I only remove the lock on a firearm that WILL REMAIN UNDER MY PERSONAL CONTROL for the duration of use. That methodology has served me well so far.

Another excellent idea. and my grandfather’s favorite, he has a rather well kept Remington in his room.
My first stand point is the staircase. The shape and number of stairs, and my room being more or less directly in front, offers me a perfect vantage point to hold someone off who is attempting to get upstairs at us.
Fallback point is the bathroom…2 doors, but one entrance into the main section, and its hall entrance is directly across the hall from the kids room.

I recently bought a Colt .45 Defender. Light frame 7 shot cap.,handles sweet, not much jump, but the recoil spring is a monster. I think it came off a Mack truck, no chance a child could work the slide action, unless you’ve got children that look like Hulk Hogan.

Yep! I like the Spartan response to the demand by the Persians that they surrender their weapons at Thermopile even have the ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE hat. I also have every intention of living up to the same fighting standard if required to come back victorious on with my shield or on it. WarTip I already found myself on the radar scope as soon as I was awarded my CCW by the county Sheriff’s office so no sense in using an alias anyway.
I currently have the Springfield Arms XD compact .45 cal with 4” barrel. The 2008 model has a thumb safety along with the grip safety and ultra safety assurance (USA) trigger system. It also comes with a 13 and 10 round magazine along with a 2 magazine belt mounted holder, holster, trigger lock, and magazine loader. The 230 grain hollow point bullets I carry have sufficient knock down power and I find it very accurate at hand-to-hand range of 7 yards (21 feet). It is fairly easy to conceal with the middle of the back holster I wear, but depending on your size 13 round magazine can cause you to print (which is a misdemeanor in the state of Idaho) so I normally only carry the 10 round magazine.

I have the Springfield Armory Ultra Compact .45, 3 1/2 inch model. (The spring is a royal B***H, always wear safety glasses when taking the thing apart) Only 6 rounds but very sweet to shoot and works well with small hands. They run in the $600 to more than a grand range depending on the model.

Yes a .40S&W caliber pistol w/12 round clip. Keep it with chamber empty. The slide spring is strong enough that small children cannot operate it. Take your wife with you before you buy and make sure she can operate the slide. Or better yet buy her her own. Load with Extreme Shock AFR ammunition, in most cases it will not go through walls and harm someone on the other side.

I jumped on the 2007 model I picked up when I was looking for a 2008 with the thumb safety. I walked out with it costing me only $515. When I bought my Glock 19 here it was $480 while it cost my brother in the People’s Republic of Kalifornia $650 with the 10 round magazine and 2 week waiting period restrictions. Our local gun dealer’s prices are so competitive it isn’t worth the price of gas to drive into Boise to try and find a better deal.

I think this is the Max Motors that belongs to the brother of Mancow Muller. He advertises that Max Motors will ship anywhere in the U.S. I wonder how the gun fits in with shipping across state lines.
Course they could just have a gun dealer in Kansas ship the gun to a gun dealer in Wyoming (or whereever you happen to be).
I’m not sure since the station that used to carry the Mancow show dropped it for some reason.
A gun kept in the home is 22 times more likely to be used in an unintentional shooting, a criminal assault or homicide, or an attempted or completed suicide than to be used to injure or kill in self-defense.

I went to high school in Wash. DC in the 1970’s. My school had a rifle range and we had a trap and skeet club. We could bring our guns to school, but not walk around the halls with them. Now the rifle range is gone and the school went Coed. It was fun while it lasted.

I bought my wife a Ruger SP-101 .357 Magnum snub nose for $475. She loves it over any other revolver or pistol she has handled and fits her small hand very well. It is excellent for conceal carry (we both earned our CCW together) and fits most of her purses. With her going to work at O’dark thirty I feel better that she has it with her. She is a country girl and veteran that is a dead shot with a rifle or shotgun, but didn’t know how good she was with a hand gun until we went out shooting together. As Mr. T would say I pity the fool stupid enough to mess with her.
I am very happy living in Missouri. Lots of good people with the right attitude live here.

I backed down four guys who were running up my driveway and into the garage. They saw the .45 in my hand and decided they did not want to be dead goblins. That was a month or two ago. And this was another incident not reported to the police. Had I called 911 in a situation that took seconds they would have been there in minutes.
I too own a Ruger GP100 in .357. One of the sweetest wheel guns I’ve ever shot. Dead on accurate, and feels good in the hand. My baby is a stainless Colt Gold Cup in .45ACP. Shoots like a dream, and is my primary defense gun. Also have a Ruger P90DC in .45ACP – adequate, may sell to brother. Beretta 92FS – good functional gun, accurate, and fun to shoot.
Envious you all who can obtain a CC permit. I live in one of the only 2 (or 3) states where you cannot get one (though the bad guys seem to be ignorant of this fact).
