A reader’s reply to the RNC

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 27, 2008 03:00 PM

Reader Bill B. sent me two postcards he sends back in any postage paid envelope sent to him by RNC fund-raisers. It’s the response they deserve:

Heh I feel the same way. For over a month now I have been contacting GOP leaders about going back to work for the party to help defeat the democrats

The reply ? Im sent endless emails asking me to do worthless volunteer work that does little party building or is largely ineffective or I get asked to contribute money.

In other words Im still ignored and still treated like free cheap labor or an ATM.

There is no leadership in the GOP only elitism that has always been there.

Tom Coburn wrote a good article in the WSJ today about how the Party is in such disaray and basically clueless. Everything sounded great until the last paragraph when he said that McCain was the guy to lead the Party back to greatness. Gez, even when they acknowledge that they’re screwed up, they prove positively how clueless they really are. Now if the guy had said that McCain was not the guy to lead the Party, there would be hope for them.

It looks like Bill will be sending the RNC postcards for many years to come.

I got two phone calls today, one from the GOP Senatorial Committee & one from the McCain folks. The poor guy with the Senate comm. about the recent farm bill, and the McCain guy got little enthusiasm. It is a good thing I hadn’t heard about his comment about corporate profits, or he’d have gotten an earful too!

I’m beginning to feel like we’d be better off with Obama. What’s McCain going to get done with a majority of donks in both houses of congress? Certainly no conservative judges, just THEIR business, that’s what. In four years, they will have messed things up so bad, we can get rid of them all and get some folks who will clean things up.

100% correct. Even when it seems they actually get it, they take away the incorrect message. How can they be so clueless? IMHO, if the GOP would simply denounce amnesty or any derivation of amnesty (aka comprehensive immigraiton reform) and adopt a platform of attrition, they would immediately bring back over half (probably 80%) the members who left them. It is VERY low hanging fruit. We can always work on them for spending and giveaways in the future. But they just refuse to do it. So disaray will lead to dissolution of the party altogether.

Do you realize how easy it would be to beat the socialist Democrats if ANYONE on the Republican side had a clue?

It was two years ago the Dems were making promise after promise and it got them into office. Since they took over the house and senate they have done virtually nothing. They have failed to do anything other than tie up the government with wasted time and spending. Their ratings are terrible. They are pitiful. Yet, the Republicans drop the ball over and over again and make it easy for them.

I don’t consider the RNC to be poorly disciplined kids. A more correct analogy is firing an incompetent employee.

Look at it as America being a restaurant and you hired the RNC as a night manager. You find out they started hiring illegal aliens in the kitchen and start promoting menus that come from a competing diner. Then you find out they overspent your food and liquor budget. Then if you say something to them about it they tell you your racist and should keep your mouth shut. Would you get a new night manager or just stick with them because they are reliable?

I’m a natural born Texan and respect your posts Tiger, but have to part ways with you on this one.

As far as Ford and Carter, its the same thing as we got today. Looking in a toilet and picking the least offensive turd. The country needs a courtesy flush.

When he did the quid pro quo of the Nixon pardon, he became unelectable. Whether that pardon was right or wrong, the consequences were obvious to everyone. But Jerry had to satisfy his ego.

    In a word, YES!

I’m sick and tired of belonging to a party that won’t rise to defend itself or to stand with the Conservative Americans who still believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I’m tired of Senators and Congresspeople who pander to special interests such as the recently passed Farm bill, the accepted invitation to pander – I mean – speak before La Raza (The Race), wimpy senators who condemn speaking out by a state GOP when a candidate’s wife states on the campaign trail that she’s “not proud of America.”

I’m tired of my state senator who now claims that he “gets it” in relation to open borders/amnesty while still employing Juan “Dual citizenship” Hernandez or openly pandering to the “global warming” crisis crowd, or opposing water boarding in extreme cases of suspected terrorists.

I will be leaving the position of President unvoted in November, rather than vote in a Democrat “lite”. I will evaluate and support other candidates based on what their positions are, whether they are Republican or Democrat.

When your party finally grows some spine and shows some testicular fortitude, I may consider coming back. Until then you can color me an Independent who’s frantically looking for a party that supports MY values. Maybe, by 2010, you will have woken up.

I just voted today in the Idaho primary elections for the GOP. I had a choice of the grumpy old man, everyone’s crazy uncle Ron Paul, or uncommitted before going to the write-in line. I went with uncommitted and I hope many of my friends and neighbors did too not that it will matter much to the RINOs leading the GOP into oblivion. No longer will I vote for the lesser of two evils!

This is a response to the last letter/survey the RNC sent me. I have not received another.

    Senator McConnell,

Sir, I have sent along this letter with the survey because there obviously is not enough room for me to properly speak to my dissatisfaction with my party and those whom I voted into office. Not to mention my penmanship is lacking. Conservatism is the current barometer for our party this political season and sadly our candidate is not nor has the Republican Party acted with conservative principals. Over spending, refusal to speak plainly about the issues and the lack of effort to actually nominate a true conservative, are all reasons I am refusing to donate to the “cause”. I believe my elected officials should “earn” my trust and then my cash. Do that and then I will lend my support. So what I expect my party to do is very simple.

    1. Go on the offensive against Democratic undermining of the war effort. Their display this week was appalling as was their ignorance when questioning General Petraus. Counter the collective liberal medias agenda against our right to protect ourselves and kill our enemies. Remind your employers, the American people, why we need to defend this nation.
    2. Quit pandering to special interest and corporate lobbyist when it comes to illegal immigration. Stop federal dollars to any state that does not enforce immigration laws as well as punish employers who hire an illegal. You don’t need to build a fence if the magnate is decimated. They will go home. Catch and release? Nope. Catch and deport. McCain says it is impossible to deport all of the illegal aliens. Maybe that’s true. But if we start with some then maybe the rest will understand that our hospitality is not free and one must follow the proper procedures to gain access to this great nation. My in-laws came here legally, so can everyone else.
    3. Not only should tax cuts be made permanent but also the “fair tax” should be made a fixture of our party. I understand this scares many people in power, as it should. After all, when you free the populace from the binds of government, the populace once again controls the government. Earmarks should be eradicated. Good luck with that one as democratic handouts are how they retain office. The pyramid scheme known, as social security should be reformed. I am 38 and it is obvious I will never see a dime of what I pay in.
    4. Conservatives, true conservatives, believe in personal-responsibility and self reliance when it comes to taking care of ones self and their family. We have allowed the liberal agenda to destabilize and subjugate portions of our society all in an effort to maintain power. Remember give a man a fish/teach a man to fish? Well guess what? It’s time many Americans start learning to fish. STOP, bailing out financial institutions with my money. STOP bailing out homeowners who made stupid decisions with my money. STOP the damn spending!
    5. While I am on this rant. Let capitalism work and demand democrats quit trying to socialize our nation. Their ideology fails every time it is tried. Please for God sake don’t let it get so bad we see another misery index. I am not so young I do not remember the Carter years. Gee what great times those were. Universal health care is a big sell this election cycle. Get on the ball and counter it with the realities and cost.
    6. It’s time we start challenging the Global Warming messiahs with fact, not joining them like our current candidate obviously has. We have enough oil and oil shale in our own lands to become free from OPEC. It’s time someone has the balls to act and demand we become independent from foreign oil. Alternative fuels are nice but the reality is we need oil and new refinery capacity plain and simple. Get rid of the red tape and expense oil companies must go through to build infrastructure and extract product. I am not one of these pariahs who decry big oil and their profits. I say good for them! Damn it that’s what our country is, a bastion of capitalism were making money is the idea. Of course we should seek alternative fuel sources but leaving our nation in a precarious position because of environmentalist wacko’s is not what I would call a good idea.
    7. Stop President Bushes attempts to further move us towards a North American Union. Look, I agree with free trade as long as it is fair. I do not believe in globalization nor the attempts by some to have us give away our sovereignty via treaties that would leave us under the oh so corrupt auspices of the United Nations. Our President is a globalist moderate. You and your colleagues should have been challenging him.
    8. It’s time for grass roots support of conservative candidates on the local and state level. We are out here, help us get elected. By taking back local offices from liberals we can better support and build the foundations of conservatism and return this nation to it’s former glory.
    9. Above all you and your colleagues must espouse the conservative agenda and go on the offensive. You must stop the political moderation and call democrats what they are and educate the masses on their desire to socialize our nation. They are socialist and need to be labeled as such.

There are many other issues that need attention as well. Honestly I gave serious consideration to with holding my vote this election cycle. However as much as I am displeased with the candidate I cannot in good conscious allow a liberal to get into office. I will vote republican as I always have. This time. But rests assured, if and when McCain takes office I expect you and your associates to make sure he does as promised, and lead as a conservative. Insist on strict constructionist judges, tax reform, fair trade policies, defense of the second amendment, defense of the unborn and the zealous pursuit of the war on terror and Islamic fascism. Your letter speaks of a generation of democratic leadership should we lose. Should he be a one term President because he failed the conservative base, that will all but be assured.

    Regards,
    Stephen M. Dines.

Third/Fourth party? Get a real conservative movement started. Get out and vote, but not for the choices, write in your candidate. When the GOP sees a record number of write ins, maybe they’ll take notice, especially when they lose their jobs.

As a former contributor to Republican causes I am deluged with requests for donations. I have not gone so far as printing up anything fanciful but I do respond with a brief note that I will resume contributing to the Republican party when it nominates a Republican.

I’ve been scrawling across any and all appeals for well over a year now “I’ll continue to contribute and support when this party starts representing ME again” and have told the same to any phone solicitations. And I ALWAYS mail them back in the postage paid envelopes…..I’ve paid them for years now, let them pay to get my message of dissatisfaction! Funny though, they never seem to get the message, just keep sending me more and more appeals. Do ya suppose they think I’ll get a warm, fuzzy moment and change my mind?????? :-D

Wow! It’s great to see Bill is still so active in trying to get Republicans to do the right thing. Having known of his activity over years, his postcards are not the result of a tantrum, but likely the result of seeing his hard work often mean nothing.

Thanks for what you have done for us Bill…from Farmington, WI.

I should have scanned or photocopied the the questionnaire from the RNC that I sent back to them with my Sharpie’d-in comments.

I sent back 4 in one day, with Sharpie’d comments.
Their surveys were so lame, about 25 questions, all the same, but in different order.
In the area of donations, I wrote: “With diesel currently at $4.69 per gallon, you get nothing!”

At the time of the letter, yes. If you read the last comment you would notice that my intent is to give a “last chance” so to speak. At no time in history has a lesser of two evils been more relevant. I am not sure, regardless of how disgusted I am with our candidate, if our national security is worth risking to allow Obama in office. Bottom line that is the most important issue bar none. I will see who the man picks as VP. If he is smart he will pick someone like Jindal. My decision still remains fluid.
