Shrinking Pinkos in Berkeley
My friend and partner in the upcoming “From the Frontlines” web-a-thon (June 26–mark the date!) Melanie Morgan sends word that the Berkeley anti-troop protests at the city’s Marine recruiting center are shrinking.
Time to call out those moonbat witches again:
It’s so calm at the once-embattled United States Marine Corps recruiting center in Berkeley that a group of enlisted men and women were able to have a pizza party inside Tuesday afternoon.
And they didn’t have to wade through throngs of screaming protesters to get into their downtown office.“The interest in the (Marine recruiting center) has waned. (The protesters) have been pretty well-behaved lately,” said police spokesman Officer Andrew Frankel.
A handful of Code Pink protesters were in front of the center at 64 Shattuck Square May 21 — their usual day of the week — but the turnout was extremely light compared with recent months when hundreds came out weekly to protest the military enlistment site.
“Protests at the Marine recruiting station have been calm lately,” said Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates. “Berkeley remains firmly opposed to the Iraq war and we respect people’s right to free speech. We appreciate that the protests have been peaceful and less disruptive to the local businesses that are trying to survive in these difficult economic times.”
The show is far from over, though. The counterinsurgency continues:
While there is somewhat of a lull now, things could heat up as spring turns to summer. Eagles Up organizer Doug Lyvere said at least 500, possibly 700, motorcycle riders plan to converge on the center after 10 a.m. June 21.
“It’s another troop-support mission,” he said.
In March, about 400 motorcyclists participated in a pro-military rally at the Marine center after reportedly spending $25,000 to $30,000 in neighboring cities to penalize Berkeley financially for its anti-military stance.
What’s more, Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward said her group is working to send 50,000 care packages to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.“We are so tired of the negative media generated by Code Pink that Move America Forward is dedicating itself to a historic, cutting-edge concept where we are going to try to bring the largest amount of care packages in American history to the troops,” Morgan said. “We are putting our energy into some positive, proactive affirmation for the men and women who are serving our country instead of dealing with the people who clearly despise our troops and their mission.”

I can sleep happy tonight after all…
Maybe people are beginning to wake up after their bottom line began to be affected.
Always enjoy good news from M&M … (Michelle and Melanie) … thanks and keep up the good work …
Haha. Hope they used up all the toilet paper in Berkeley’s public restrooms.
Let’s see some pix of counter-protestors outnumbering protestors. That goes further to beat down the central message of these demonstrations: That the anti-war movement is mainstream. It is not. Overwhelming the protests with counter-protests also illustrates the waning morale of the defeatists.
YEAH!
or maybe Darn, they’re probably just on a slow broom to Denver.
Actually, two of ‘em got here earlier today to cast evil around a little at DU…they must’ve left bezerkely months ago.
Anyone have any spare witch cages? I just need a few thru the convention.
Hmmm, I wonder if their un-employment accounts are running out and they actually have to go find jobs ? If so, they can always enlist !
I guess that’s what happens when you threaten to take their money away.
What good news!
Maybe the moonbats have realized we are winning?
I live in the area for grad. school. I don’t think anyone (other than the city council) took the protest or the boycott seriously. There are more anti-war people here who hate what code pink’s doing than anti-war people who support code pink. That this protest is fizzling out signifies about as much about the anti-war as the tree-sitters’ protest fizzling out signifies about environmentalists. No one in Berkeley cares about the protest, or about the theoretical boycott.
Yay! Thanks for the goodnight good news.
BTW MM, were the Berkeley College Republicans successful in their application for the same protest privileges as Code Pink? link
Thanks to MM and MM +

The other side never gives up - neither can we.
Code Pink is old news at Berkeley. Not too many cameras and reporters around anymore, so, of course, the “protesters” have moved on. The whole point was to get their faces in a camera; it added substance to their otherwise meaningless lives.
Pink’s interest in protesting was nothing more than a ploy to get a good parking spot in town. The doctor probably wouldn’t allow them a “collective” handicapped parking permit, so now they take turns.
It is comforting to know that when Pink begins to rally anti-American forces again, the Eagles will be there. God bless them.
Thank you all who stand watch out there with the Marines. You are truly noble people. God Bless all of you!
Maybe the Marines can now tolerate the smell a little better in front of their door.
If this continues, it’d be a good thing. A very good thing.
This wouldn’t have anything to do with the Berkeley Free Clinic offering no-cost hormone replacement therapy on Wednesdays…would it?
Doing right is always RIGHT.Here’s wondering if the lgm types will be sending care packages to the troops. My family is.
I don’t know why I hate the nutty liberals. I want to respect and feel connected to fellow Americans, and intellectually I realize that at times they have good points… but I can’t stand them! I think it is because I know they are clueless about the “real” world; they lack “street smarts”. Obama and the code pinkers believe that if they went to the Middle East and held out their hands that they would be welcomed and everything would be fine. Whereas, I think their heads would be cut off and the video posted on the internet.
I don’t like them and I guess that is just that…
Liberals are the types of people you just want to beat with a rubber chicken.

Ooops. Wrong thread.

Guess my counter spell is working! I’ll do it again…. Here goes:
“The Marine Corps is rubber, code stinky pinkie is glue. What bounces off the Marine Corps, sticks on you”
Fox news has a live Protest Cam showing the Marine Recruiter’s office in Berkeley. You can see how many code pink show up on Wednesday. Thanks Fox News!

They never were a big group and always were nutty. They never were a threat to society, or even to the recruiting center in Berkeley. The only threat was in your head. Maybe you should apologize.
Like Jerry Doyle said on his show,” if ya want to clear em’ out, just throw a case of Ivory Soap bars in the crowd” !
Are thier 10 minutes finally over?
LGM……….don’t you have a bong hit waiting for you somewhere ?
LGM, apologise to code pinko???? forget it. They need to be jailed for treason. But I will settle for them going to live in one of thier beloved dictatorships.
For what?
For a group that’s neither “big” nor ” a “threat to society” - they sure has hell seem to get around. They have nutters on both coasts who bash our troops, disrupt congressional hearings, create a public disturbance.
Does it ruffle your feathers that those who stand in opposition to everything Code Pink supports are outnumbering them?
LGM code pink = democratic base.
It appears the eternal children of the 60s generation have the same short attention span any 5 year old child has and are beginning to lose interest in the petulant display of immaturity trying to relive those good old anti-Vietnam War protest glory days. Either that or they have figured out that all the attention they have put on the US Marine Recruiting Station has backfired on them and actually resulted in more willing volunteers signing up to defend this country.
I think the Code Pinkos took some time off to work on the Obama campaign.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Uh-oh. Sounds like someone’s membership application was rejected.
There’s going to be another protest story coming out of Berkeley in the next 30 days, this one involving Cals’ Memorial Stadium. A judge is expected to rule on a court case involving the stadium. Protesters have been living in the trees for 18 months and if the ruling goes against them, they are going to defy the rule of law and the judge. Could get interesting.

They seem to get around because the nothing-left-but-our-anger right wing blogosphere tails all three of them wherever they go and bloggs it up like the superbowl.
lgm:
You’re a sorry piece of work.
Defending Code Pink? Can you stoop any lower?
Well, there’s 3 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.
Counted ‘em for ya = ONE Code Pinko.
Yuch, that picture of the code stinko at Melanies is enough to make one go blind.
If I had kids I’d take them to a protest/counter protest. I would take them up close to the code stinkos and let them see for themselves what a life of selfish hate really looks like.
I would then take them to the Pro-America side of the protest and show them what true love of country looks like. I’m sure it would be a shocking contrast for any child but unforgetable. Just as me never forgetting sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial as a child Sunday afternoons many years ago with my Navy Father next to me. I would stand as the Marine Band played and marched before us.
One second thought that might be considered child abuse.
yeah! for the good guys…that would be the troops, lgm, if you were confused.

I think your mom should apologize.
That would require her to take off the witch costume and step away from the Berkeley recruiting station.
Just like the left does about the right.
Really, lgm, this whole playing the victim that liberals and Muslims use is getting old.
