Obama’s uncle did what?

By see-dubya  •  May 27, 2008 09:50 AM

CBS:

Obama also spoke about his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz. He said the family legend is that, upon returning from war, his uncle spent six months in an attic. “Now obviously, something had really affected him deeply, but at that time there just weren’t the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain,” Obama said. “That’s why this idea of making sure that every single veteran, when they are discharged, are screened for post-traumatic stress disorder and given the mental health services that they need – that’s why it’s so important.”

Purple Avenger, blogging at Ace of Spades:

Auschwitz of course is in Poland. It was liberated by the Red Army on Jan 27 1945. Poland, on most maps is usually placed to the east of Germany, although we may need to investigate the geography textbooks the Messiah used as a child…

The Allies were wrapping up the battle of the bulge in late January of 1945 — the Rhine crossings were still well into the future when Auschwitz was liberated.

Either Obama’s uncle served in the Red Army, or he’s spinning Clintonesque lies about Auschwitz to sell his government programs. Hey, it’s for a good cause…but it’s not enough for him. It has to be personal. It has to be all about him.

It’s like Bill Clinton whining about those Arkansas church burnings he witnessed as a child–church burnings which never actually happened.

I think the Obamessiah just out Tuzla’d Hillary. The man is…nefarious.

UPDATE: No Tuzla here; he just mentioned the wrong camp during his off-the-cuff freewheeling.

People are already starting to issues the apoligizes and of course the first tact is to say he named the wrong camp. If a presidential candidate retelling a personal story does not do enough due dilligence to make sure it is accurate it certainly doesn’t point to his ability handle complex issues very well. Second since it was personal there would have been no need for his staff to “fact check” it. So he can’t even surround himself with smart people to at least advise him that if he isn’t sure about the camp then he needs to speak in generic terms.
No, this was an attempt for him to try and settle down the grumblings among his Jewish supporters while at the same time pushing some sort of line of reasoning that he could correctly identify an American soldier in 3 out of the 4 movies he has seen. (He had trouble when viewing the “Green Berets” determing which ones were US but he is pretty sure it is the ones who kicked in the doors of the innocent civilians house and dragged them out of bed and then abused him before secretly rendering him aboard an aircraft and sent him to a private prison never to be seen again.) That would be the movie review of that John Wayne classic today.
Anyway we all know the spin, and I don’t know why he wants to since none of this will be seen on TV so none of the people currently going through American Idol withdrawal will ever know anyway. Think it will make the cover of Time or Newseek?

Thats like saying you went on a business trip, and when someone asks where it was, you say “well, it was boston…or DC…or LA…or Dallas…oh, whatever, it was a business trip, ok?”

I would think getting Auschwitz (as the most infamous and well know name of such camps) mixed up with another place would be odd, at best.

But this man is establishing a track record of such “mistakes”. How many more can we give him before it just doesnt matter anymore? How many more excuses can one make for someone who simply keeps throwing themselves under the bus with this type of “comment error”?

All but one of his children live in Britain or the United States. One of the brothers died in 1984. He is buried in the village of Nyangoma-Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya.

Except for his father, none of BHO’s paternal grandfather’s six sons (Obama’s uncles) are identified in this article. hmmm

    3. Stanley Ann DUNHAM was born on 27 November 1942 in Wichita, Kansas and died 7 November 1995 of ovarian cancer.
Barack Hussein OBAMA Sr. and Stanley Ann DUNHAM were married in 1960 in Hawaii and had the following children:

1 i. Barack Hussein OBAMA, Jr.

    Third Generation (Grandparents):
    4. Hussein Onyango OBAMA was born about 1895 and died in 1979. Before settling down to work as a cook for missionaries in Nairobi he was a traveler. Recruited to fight for colonial power England in World War I, he visited Europe and India, and afterward lived for a time in Zanzibar, where he converted from Christianity to Islam, family members said.

    5. Akumu

Hussein Onyango OBAMA had several wives. His first wife was Helima, with whom he had no children. Second, he married Akuma and they had the following children:

    i. Sarah OBAMA
    1. ii. Barack Hussein OBAMA, Sr.
    iii. Auma OBAMA
Onyango’s third wife was Sarah, the one often referred to by Barack as his “grandmother.” She was the primary caregiver for Barack OBAMA Sr. after his mother, Akuma, left the family when her children were still young.
    6. Stanley Armour DUNHAM was born on 23 March 1918 in Kansas and died 8 February 1992 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is buried in Punchbowl National Cemetery, Honolulu, Hawaii.

    3. i. Stanley Ann DUNHAM

    Fourth Generation (Great Grandparents):
    8. Obama was born in Kendu Bay, Kenya

    9. Nyaoke

Obama had four wives, one of whom was Nyaoke. She fathered many children, of whom Onyango was the fifth son.

    12. Ralph Waldo Emerson DUNHAM was born 24 December 1894 in Argonia, Sumner County, Kansas and died 4 October 1970 in Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas.

    13. Ruth Lucille ARMOUR was born in 1900 in Illinois and died (by suicide) on 25 November 1926 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas.

Ralph DUNHAM and Ruth ARMOUR were married on 3 October 1915 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas and had the following children:
    i. Ralph Emerson DUNHAM, Jr., born 29 August 1916 (spouse Elizabeth Smith)
    6. ii. Stanley Armour DUNHAM
The family is found living with Ruth’s parents in the 1920 federal census of Sedgwick County, Kansas. In 1930, Ralph Jr. and Stanley are with their maternal grandparents in Butler County, Kansas, while their father, Ralph Sr. was enumerated with his parents in Sedgwick County, Kansas.
