When the Bush administration and the generals in Iran were saying that Iran was sending weapons, money, training, etc to Iraq, didn’t a lot of people on the left dismiss this as ‘Bush lies,’ or suggesting that they claimed that this was done to “promote Bush’s upcoming war with Iran??”
I thought that Iran had no influence with Iraq.

I am ashamed that someone who is so far removed from reality is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives…much less the leader of that particular body. More importantly, I am ashamed, as an American, that she will be reelected again in November. I would expect that kind of analysis of the situation to come from one of our enemies, not the Speaker of the House. Frankly, tar and feathers is too good for this woman but would be a good start nonetheless.

I know that a split occurred that didn’t make Iran happy and hence the call for a cease fire by Sadr…. if you want to call that Iranian assistance go right ahead….. but, it , in no way is a scenario of Iranian power. Maliki was successful and Pelosi and anyone agreeing with her is engaging in wishful thinking.

it is not goodwill, but Iran does have a huge amount of influence over what certain Shia in Iraq do, and with what munitions. The strangest thing is talking to a sunni Iraqi, who literally sees Iranian influence in every action of the Iraqi government, whether it is there or not.

Pelosi’s comments are absolutely despicable. And dead wrong.
Yes, the Iraqis were trying to work with the Iranians and Sadr to reach an acceptable solution. That did not work. So, the Iraqi Army went in and cleaned house. WITHOUT the cooperation of Iran.
Pelosi’s words are an insult to the Iraqi government and army. Coming from the person who is third in line to lead the US, her remarks are especially harmful.
A soldier shoots a Koran for target practice and is rightfully disciplined and sent home. Pelosi commits an act that is more insulting and nothing is done.
But the most vile aspect of her comments is her absolute disdain for the US military. Soldiers spending 15 months tours in Iraq away from their homes and families. In harms way every waking hour. She has no understanding of the sacrifice and selflessness that these volunteers make. Rather than express an ounce of gratitude, she goes out of her way to denigrate their service and their sacrifice.
And she does so by crediting the very country most responsible for killing and maiming our men and women in uniform. Iran has provided the munitions and much of the support in attacks against our soldiers. The surge succeeded in spite of Iran, not because of them.
Crediting an enemy that actively kills our troops with the success achieved through the blood and sweat of our young men and women is the epitome of adding insult to injury.
I can imagine that her comments are a big hit in Iran and radical Islamic circles.
Pelosi owes the government of Iraq, the Iraqi Army and, most importantly, our troops, an apology of epic proportions. The sincerity of her regret can be best evidenced by her immediate resignation from office.
