here are the facts: McCain visited Ramadi in early 06 and went down town. We took congressional delegations out into the city about every week. Ref your comment about AQI in Iraq: I mentioned the other day, granted that there are not a whole lot, but they also control and direct others to do their bidding through murder and intimidation which magnifies their numbers. When I arrived in Ramadi in FEB ‘07, we were attacked in some manner about 40 times a day by AQI or their surrogates. We ANNIHILATED them with the assistance of local Iraqis who were tired of it. By July, we were attacked about 1 time every couple of days. I moved to Fallujah where they were getting attacked almost 20 times a day still. By JAN 08, it was maybe 1-2 a day. We moved again, entered an area that had not been occupied in years by US, and were not attacked whatsoever. Yes, we paid the locals to provide their own security; it is called a job. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Granted there is a long way to go, but to dispute that AQ is decimated is retarded, other than the roman meaning of killing one in ten. AQI is destroyed in Iraq, and we did it. Despite your carping. They can still carry out spectacular, attention-grabbing attacks by recruiting mentally disabled, gullible children, and using foreign fighters even in small numbers, though.
