A public school field trip…to the local illegal alien day labor center

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 3, 2008 10:39 AM

What’s next? Assemblies with fake ID manufacturers? Gym classes with coyotes?

Darleen Click points to this L.A. Daily News report on a 4th-grade public school field trip to a local illegal alien day labor site:

It wasn’t your typical field trip that Danielle Quinto took her fourth-grade class at Our Community School in North Hills on last week.

Her 25 students – all from lower- to middle-class working families – didn’t go to the Los Angeles Zoo or Travel Town.

Instead, they went to see men whom they said scared them, men they thought were dangerous and stole things.

Quinto took her class of 9-year-old children on a field trip to a city-funded, day-labor work site in North Hollywood near a Home Depot.

“It was a little weird taking the kids on a field trip like this, but it turned out to be a teacher’s dream,” the young, charter school teacher said Monday.

After the children returned to the classroom, the teacher put them right to work…as little, pro-illegal immigration lobbyists:

“It was cool talking to them, not scary,” the 9-year-old said. “We all left wanting to tell their story to other kids so we can help them.”

And that’s Part 2 of Danielle Quinto’s magical field trip.

When they got back to school, the kids began working on a news release they sent to every media outlet in Los Angeles.

It asked for help getting the message out about learning about people before judging them.

The kids also want to raise some money to help the day laborers improve their job-site center and buy the tools they need to do their jobs as masons, painters, carpenters, landscapers and a host of other manual labor jobs.

It’s California tax dollars at work twice over–funding illegal alien labor and open-borders indoctrination in the public schools.

My only question is this: If an ignorant waste of a school teacher could find the illegal aliens why couldn’t ICE?

Thanks for the stats. Every person who is pro-amnesty should indicate so on their tax return, and $11,000 be added to their tax bill. Actually it would be more like $20,000 since not every US citizen is pro-amnesty. Watch how quickly things change then.

I am married to an immigrant – a LEGAL immigrant, which makes all the difference. I speak fluent Spanish so I can both understand and empathize with the plight of illegals in this country – a plight completely of their own making, and completely rectifiable.

“Why can’t we all just get along?” is marries101′s mantra. Why can’t we all just obey the laws, and punish those who don’t?

I put up numbers of how illegal aliens are hurting “Americans here in the United States”. He tells me that they are here LEGALLY because anyone born on North American soil is considered an American.

There are two issues here. Yes he is correct in that the dictionary does define American as a native or inhabitant of North America or South America so if you are going to have this discussion you need to state US citizens instead of Americans because you are using one definition and he is another.

Then is the second part of his saying that if you are an American it is Legal for you to be in the US.

Is he a member of La Raza because this is what they believe?

Simple reply what he believes does not match with the facts and reality of what LAWS of US, Mexico and Canada are. If he keeps rambling then say I believe you now owe me $100. When he asks you why, say if he can make ridiculous claims based only on beliefs that are against reality and the laws, then so can you and pay up. :-)

Thank you for commenting Pressto. I honestly don’t know if he is a member of La Raza. That was my first thought too. He also said that he would rather his taxes go to illegal aliens getting welfare and so forth other then his taxes going to the war in Iraq. That is what makes me think is his just a typical liberal. Everytime I talk on the blog now I never say that we are “Americans”, I say we are United States citizens and there is a difference between U.S. citizens and illegal aliens. But he is blind to the proof. Thank you for the come back. I needed one for this idiot. He just pisses me off.

Heh, didn’t see this posted on the school site under the 4th grade teacher in question’s section earlier today:

A letter from the 4th grade students:

    Dear all parents,

Our 4th grade thought they were scary, but when we heard their unbearable stories, we knew we were wrong. We’re talking about when we went to see the Day Laborers at the Los Angles Day Laborer Program. That’s where the unbearable stories came from. For example, one man cried saying, “I have been deported 4 times!”

We interviewed the Day Laborers, and found out they don’t do what many people think they would. Actually, they were more afraid of us then we were of them. Plus, about 100 people sign in each morning, and not all of them get jobs. If you help us, we guarantee you won’t regret making a difference in their lives.

We would like to help the Los Angles Day Laborer Program, but we need help. What we need you to do is send your donations to Our Community School at 16514 Nordoff St., North Hills, CA 91343. Checks can be made payable to Our Community School. Please write the following on the memo line: “4th grade Day Laborer Program.” We will accept donations until Friday, June 13th. The week after that, we will use the money to buy the tools the workers need to improve their center and get jobs.

    Thank You for donating,

    Esme & Samantha

Do you honestly think 4th graders wrote that? If you do I have a bridge to sell you. Indoctrination, ahh yes, subterfuge from our own public charter schools.

I agree longbow. They are as much a part of the problem as anything. They are enablers. They also believe that only they know what true compassion or love is. I’ll bet you dollars to donuts I can take fourth graders and show the “good side” of anybody. You could endear fourth graders to Adolph Hitler but of course not if you present them with ALL of the information. That is not what they did here. The fact is too that 4th graders are probably not mature enough for this debate. It is another problem I have with all of this. These feel good socialist want to use children to make their points and advance their agenda. They know that most adults won’t buy this socialization so they cowardly hide behind the children. This is also why they see home-schoolers as a threat because they can’t brainwash them if they can’t get their hands on them. Something we really need to address in this country but I digress. Public schools should not be doing ANY of this socialization crap. They will ignore any bad components of these “nice men” and suggest you are a “racist” for noticing even though it is these very behaviors that are detrimental to our society as a whole.

Yes, so reasoned, so sympathetic, yet so totally incapable of understanding why people are so prone to “emotional outbursts.” What? Are you a robot? Or are you insulated within your own universe that you cannot understand how many Americans feel that the trajectory of the country has gone off the rails regarding immigration.

Yet, not quite so understanding, are you, with statements such as this:

You never disappoint underarock. Once again, you’ve helped make my point.

Where’s the respect…how about you just “respectfully disagree” and move on? Practice what you preach, dakine. You like to bleat how you and marries101 will never get a “discussion.” I guess when you play on both sides of the fence, no one’s quite sure where you’re coming from.

On a side note, my husband recently went to a local Naval hospital for some testing and while he was waiting, he watched some latest Obummer coverage and shook his head. An elderly woman next to him asked if he liked Obummer and my husband said no. She then decided to lambast him and say how selfish young people (I guess my husband) were, that they don’t care about the country, and Obummer will bring our country “together.” My husband politely said, “we’ll agree to disagree.” You wanna know what this ole biddy did? She kept lighting into my husband until he was called into his appointment. He just ignored her.

We are having a discussion, dakine. Sorry if it’s “too emotional” for you.

Just received this e-mail which is so appropriate a comment for this thread. Simply substitute this ‘teacher’s’ name, Danielle Quinto for Ernie Lujan . . .

NOT printed in the Orange County CA Paper………………

Newspapers simply won’t publish letters to the editor which they either deem politically incorrect (read below) or which does not agree with the philosophy they’re pushing on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published; but, with your help it will get published via cyberspace!

    From: ‘David LaBonte’
My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to ‘print’ it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined. Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:

    Dear Editor:
So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Mr. Lujan Danielle Quinto for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren’t being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan Danielle Quinto why today’s American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented . Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan . They were defending the United States of America as one people.

When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country’s flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are in 2008 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I’m sorry, that’s not what being an American is all about. I bel ieve that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900′s deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill I wouldn’t start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.
