Why is anyone on this thread surprised that Nancy & Co. want to raise taxes – at any time?

ANY time in a good time for them to raise taxes.

If you haven’t noticed, there aren’t many sub-millionaires in either house of Congress – and with the lack of accountability (e.g., term limits or strong ethics laws) thay have no real idea of how this kind of fiscal mis-management hurts us all. They can afford the tax increases – without much fear that they’ll be voted out of office for doing so.

Totally of topic but Tre why is it that all Harley owners need to say I have to take a Harley ride? Do you need to justify in your mind that you paid WAY to much for a POS that just makes noise and doesn’t do much else?

Hope is when the political class begins to trust the will and wisdom of the people, and believes that a free people acting as a free people make everything better for everyone. Passing feel good legislation and raising taxes undermines not only the Constitution and Bill of Rights, but the entire nation. Eventually, if you take everyone’s dollar then you have the United Socialist States of America (USSA).

We are becoming more and more like the bankrupt European nations every day and it is not a pretty future to behold.

This is the right thing to do!
Despite the naysayers who have factual, scientific reasons for doubting the manmade global warming hypothesis, we know (in our guts) that MGW is a fact, and we have to do something about it now!
If we do something, it should be dramatic – like, uh, like, killing our economy so we are on the level of like VietNam. or, or like since we are one of the most environmentally conscious nations on earth – we need to pay for our consumerism! Yeah! After all, we could have clean, cheap, safe nuclear power and use electric cars — but no, let’s stop all nuclear power plants, punish our clean use of coal (while ignoring Russia’s and China’s very dirty use of coal), and move toward totally economically infeasible alternatives – wind and solar power. We need to make sure not to ruin Sen Kennedy’s view while we put out the windfarms, and no rodents should be endangered (Franks). Anyway, we could be the really, really, really cool guys if we all try! Really!
All the USA envy would be gone! Of course, that would be because we would be irrelevant, but that would be good! Then we could learn Maoist thought, the benefits of socialized medicine, and how to survive on two bowls of rice a day.

Sure, raising our taxes now, while we’re struggling to make ends meet as it is, is a great idea, Congress. That is, if I was drunk, and on drugs. That would be the only time I could justify such a stupid action.

Americans can’t afford health insurance.
They are paying through their noses for the Gas.
High food prices, a slumping real estate market, stagnating ecomony.

The cure for all these blues is to raise the cost of goods and services, all in the name of curing the earth’s fever.

Higher costs will be rolled into products and services.

But don’t worry. Government is somehow going to protect the Poor and Middle class. With precise execution, this time it surely will hit only the Rich.

Vast right-wing propaganda machine is spewing lies about more married couples getting snarled into a tax net known as “Alternate Minimum Tax”. It is a myth. Only the rich are forced to pay the AMT.

I am having a sweet dream: I am in the good hands of our government, well taken care of.
