Assassination fascination
I have an entire blog category devoted to assassination chic. It’s a staple of the unhinged Left, whose writers, playwrights, artists, documentarians, and politicians can’t get enough of BDS-infused merchandise, jokes, child brainwashing, and signage. Yes, there’s the occasional gaffe on the Right (hello, Mike Huckabee), but scroll through my assassination chic posts and you’ll see they’re dominated by stories of liberals imagining their ideological opponents gunned down, decapitated, or otherwise snuffed out.
– Sarah Vowell’s best-selling murder travelogue of assassinated Republican presidents, Assassination Vacation;
– Nicholson Baker’s Checkpoint, a novella conversation between two people about the advisability of assassinating the president;
– “Art” exhibits like this one:

– Liberal talk radio rants from hate-spewers such as Randi Rhodes;
– European incitement to kill Bush, like Guardian columnist 2004 Charlie Brooker’s pre-election diatribe:
On November 2, the entire civilised world will be praying, praying Bush loses. And Sod’s law dictates he’ll probably win, thereby disproving the existence of God once and for all. The world will endure four more years of idiocy, arrogance and unwarranted bloodshed, with no benevolent deity to watch over and save us. John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr. – where are you now that we need you?
– Assorted left-wing paraphernalia like this:

And, of course, Death of a President:

In short, there’s been no shortage of free expression about the Left’s death wishes.
Now comes martyrdom-seeking artist Yazmany Arboledo (here’s his blog) to whine about how his assassination fascination– in the form of “art” exploring the “character assassination” of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama–is being stifled in Manhattan.
This morning, a Boston-born performance artist, Yazmany Arboleda, tried to set up a provocative art exhibition in a vacant storefront on West 40th Street in Midtown Manhattan with the title, “The Assassination of Hillary Clinton/The Assassination of Barack Obama,” in neatly stenciled letters on the plate glass windows at street level.
By 9:30 a.m., New York City police detectives and Secret Service agents had shut down the exhibition, and building workers had quickly covered over the inflammatory title with large sheets of brown paper and blue masking tape. The gallery is across the street from the southern entrance to The New York Times building.
The police officers declined to answer any questions, and at first would not permit reporters to speak with Mr. Arboleda, who was wearing a black T-shirt and making cellphone calls from inside the makeshift gallery.
Later, Mr. Arboleda, who is 27, said in an interview: “It’s art. It’s not supposed to be harmful. It’s about character assassination — about how Obama and Hillary have been portrayed by the media.” He added, “It’s about the media.”
Mr. Arboleda said the exhibition was to open on Thursday and run all day.
The interview was abruptly ended as Mr. Arboleda was led off to the Midtown South police precinct for what he called an interrogation.
Reached by telephone this morning, Eric Joza, the building manager for the building at 264 West 40th Street, between Eighth and Seventh Avenues, said: “I had no idea what he was going to do. All I knew is that he was an artist and was going to use the store for two days: today and tomorrow.” There are offices above the storefront.
Here’s one part of his art exhibit on YouTube, marching across town with a penis-shaped sign trailed by the slogan “Once You Go Barack:”
Arboledo unintentionally illustrates the double standard in treatment between assassination art aimed at the GOP versus the Dems.
Greg at Rhymes with Right sums it up nicely:
Why are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton treated any different, especially when it is clear that the exhibit in question is a critique of the media coverage of the just-concluded race for the Democrat presidential nomination? Could it be that Assassination Chic is only cool if the target is a Republican?

When Malcom X was shot, the only people who thought his chickens came home to roost included Farrakhan.
Michelle, I am at a loss for words. These pictures are beyond belief.
L
i have to follow suit with letget…these people are ridiculous.
Okay…I’m with ya on all the Bush assasination stuff. But this?
I think there is a world of difference between one writing a rather macabre travel book and joking (I will give them the benefit of the doubt) about assasinating a sitting president.
One of the funnest things I did in London was go on a rather cheesy Jack the Ripper tour that took you to the sites of his murders. But hopefully that doesn’t make me as bad as someone who jokes about cutting up hookers.
Obviously, liberals are not alone in their assassination fascination.
oops, not sure why that link didn’t show up
link
Well, art it’s not… stupid it is…. and the insensitivity of what assassination means is apparent.
Key word: Republican.
l’ilseige,
vowell’s book wasn’t just an ordinary travelogue. she was motivated by her hatred of bush to write the book. example: during the 2004 Republican National Convention, she remarked to a friend that she was concerned for President Bush’s safety only because “I don’t think I can stomach watching that man get turned into a martyr if he were killed.” read my chapter on it in unhinged for the full treatment.
I stand corrected.
l’ilseige nice name, reminds me of someone else from this board.
Anyway the left have always had a fascination with death hence their moniker, “the culture of death” as espoused by the Pope.
As an artist, myself, I saw this on Drudge this AM and saw the double standard immediately. Anti Bush? That’s protected speech. Anti democrat? That’s a hate crime.
You can’t tell a liberal anything. Their opinions are correct to them, and is there anything more to be said?
These are the same people, BTW, who think the Danes shouldn’t protect cartoons that make fun of violent Islam.
The day of reason is over. The important thing is to stand your ground, win elections and openly mock the left.
Edwards was right there are 2 Americas…
Welcome to NYC, You have the right to remain silent, If you give up this right, anything you say damn-well better be liberal. You have the right to an attorney, yada, yada, yada.
Goldwater
“l’il seige” is in fact the nickname I use as my little homage to my favorite poster on this board, undrseige247. His unique brand of crazy bring hours of unintended entertainment to us all.
But I had meant to switch back to my real name.
There’s no way the left will let anyone post or demostrate about the left. There’s only one class of people allowed free speech and to demostrate in this country. It’s called the hate-filled; looney, racist, chicken-livered liberal far left. They could probably actually assiassinate a Conservative, and it would be ruled justified because he or she wasn’t a liberal. I find more every day to be ashamed of and feel contempt for the “so called american citizens” on the far left. Small case letters on purpose.
Well, well when the shoes on the left foot it does’nt seem to fit, huh!
The lefts hypocrisy rears it’s ugly head again. After all the blogging about assassinating Bush on KOS they have a problem with the cover of a paper?
I to am an artist, but what I consider art and what some others consider art differs greatly, although I have thought about giving the left something to whine about but this guy did it for me.
and yes I think the hypocrisy is funny but as many things I find funny totally inappropriate.
Chap, What the hell do the French put in their Vichy water that makes them so damn dumb?
This tasty little quote is from Ann Coulter, referring of course to Bill Clinton in her book: High Crimes and Misdemeanors.
Also, she suggested putting rat poison into Justice Steven’s creme brulee.
So it goes both ways, and is equally as distasteful.
I wouldn’t know, I am neither French nor Vichy.
Don’t forget about Bill Maher’s comment about how it would save lives if Cheney had been killed in Afghanistan. He said this referring to a suicide bomber that killed several Afghans and a US soldier outside Bagram Air base while Cheney was there.
It porbably would have saved millions of Africans from dying of malaria and other diseases if the idiots that got DDT banned had been killed, but no one advocated that.
Chap:
Look at the style and content of the posts. Goldwater and Undrseige are the same freaking person. Whoa, Disturrrrrrrbing indeed.
You are right about Coulter, whose more well known than the people Malkin mentions. There are jerks and inappropriate a-holes on both sides of the aisle. I think it’s pointless to play “teams” on the assassination issue.
After all these years Kennedy’s assassination is still fresh on my mind, and it remains my biggest fear this campaign.
Note to Obama: For you safety, be careful about your VEEP.
This country really couldn’t handle an assassination right now. I can’t imagine the fallout with the war, and crappy economy already weighing on everyone’s minds. It’s really nothing to joke about or rant about.
GNP grew and unemployment is 5%.. crappy economy?….Ohhhhhh kayyyyy. and the war is succeeding……. yeah don’t want that making me strain under the pressure of assassination scenarios.
Arugula.
You’d never get away with wearing any Kill apparel simply because Obama is a black democrat. It would be like taking your life your hands. I would never wear stuff like that, but I saw plenty of Kill Bush around the past few years.
It is the big double standard.
Anyone old enough to remember (either) Kennedy gets cold sweats when people talk about assassination. Not cool, and they should have jumped on the Kill Bush T-Shirt guy as fast as they did this artist. My guess is someone at the NY Times called the police…
“l’il seige” Heh, I bet that’s what Obama calls his………..
Nevermind.
Whenever one uses the word assassination and a person’s name, they should be asked numerous questions and checked out thoroughly. The artist was seeking attention, well he got it! When you seek attention, you should be mature enough to realize that you can’t direct what type of attention you wish to have.
Free speech comes with responsibility..and this means TAKING responsibility when saying or displaying something like this.
The people who did the bush stuff were wrong too and should have equally been checked out. Just because one isn’t looked into real well doesn’t mean we let everything go. We should speak up louder against the people who did the horrible bush stuff and demand that those people be checked out like this “artist” is being.
I do not find the word assassination “artful” nor a joke no matter what the context.
Except Obama would probably know to spell it “siege”.
JT you are right that it is a double standard but the public should be pressing harder on those “kill bush” shirts for those people to be checked out. Most republicans I know sit back and live and let live..when most democrats I know will speak out (nuts as they are imo). I’m am independent republican leaning..although mccain doesn’t make me want to lean much.
The squeaky wheel gets the oil every time.
And when Malcom X was shot by rival Black Muslims the liberals, black muslims, black nationalist and about 90% of the media blamed whitey by the end of the week. They still are.
But let us not be divisive. Bro Obama came out of that sewer and wants to unify us back in it. And our Death Cult Left cheers. Hell, how many cop killers have these people championed over the years? Lenin told them it was Ok, their Uncle Stalin showed them how to do it on an industrial scale. Assassination art raised to a new level.
But let us not be divisive. But being a typical white person I can neither jump nor dance, so I remain divisive.

I can’t speak for the whole Union, but in Florida and Ohio, gas is touching 4 bucks a gallon, the budgets are in crisis, and people are losing their jobs. In Florida, we will be resorting to layoffs, furloughs, and termination in thousands of state jobs in 2008. Most of the primary polls I’ve seen from other states has the economy as the #1 or 2 worry of voters. You may see a different reality, but I don’t know whether you see what the majority of working Americans are seeing. The surge has been successful, but that doesn’t mean war on two fronts isn’t causing Americans some anxiety. 9/11 still gives echoes and shadows also.
To be clear, I’m saying that an actual presidential or candidate assassination could push the country over the edge. Hence, I don’t think it’s too groovy to joke or rant about. Why go there?
Oh man here come’s the board’s narcissistic idiot mistress just-ice.
Anyway seems true that the assassination
kitsch comes primarily from the left. Another reason why they should be jailed or at least sequestered. Mistress J should be on board she can make extra cash defending the people of her ilk.
What crappy economy?
The 5.0 unemployment rate?
A GDP that continues to go up?
Low inflation?
Is it perfect? No.
The MSM failed to drive us into a Recession with repeated stories of its impending “inevitable” arrival. I think that shows how powerful and resilient our economy is. The mortgage crisis, an expensive war on Terrorism, etc. All absorbed. Did they hurt? Sure, but they didn’t take us down.
Perhaps if the liberal media didn’t need to make everyone “think” our economy sucks (becuase they think it’ll bring Dems more votes), people wouldn’t go around with a perception that doesn’t match reality.
We gonna throw Coulter in there as well? I don’t know if, with her delicate build and sharp tongue, she would survive too long.
Now this is depressing. I stuck to my vow to never address Undrseige(sic) again due to my refusal to debate mentally handicapped people. Well, Siege you fooled my by pathetically and shamefully using an alternate screen name to provoke. I have watched from a distance as you have slurred and tried to antagonize to no avail. I repeatedly shamed you and kicked you in the nads over a month ago before I knew your condition. Helped you over the fence so to speak. I didn’t know your impairment then, and feel like a bully in retrospect. I chose mercy. Sighhhhhh, then I was fooled by your alternate name. Now, I must include Goldwater on my list of special olympians to pity and encourage, but never to address on-line. Do you have any other names on this blog so that this mistake doesn’t happen again? For the last time, so-along and good luck with the handicap.
Back to the thread everyone, I apologize for this unfortunate diversion. It shouldn’t happen again.
Your example is a state government is talking layoffs…
A state GOVERNMENT is talking layoffs…
A STATE GOVERNMENT is talking layoffs…
I do see what the majority of working Americans see. We see a liberal media which has a political interest in misleading the public into believing the economy sucks. Since the majority of the majority of working Americans don’t understand Economics they are fooled into believing the sky is falling.
Of course its ok for the libs to talk about assassinating Bush. They learned if from there buddies in tehran.
Interesting that only conservatives do prison time for alleged presidential threats,as was the case with this individual who I know so well:
http://ronbosoldier.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Yet the Democommies can turn their Bush assassination fenzy into a hate industry with nary a word said against them much less an arrest under the provisions of U.S.C. 871 “Threat Against The President” that mandates a five year prison sentence, three years probation and $250,000 fine.
I guess it’s like Orwell said, “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.”
But I’m sure this will all change the day Obama is elected president and scores of decorated conservative veterans who dare speak against the Fearless Leader and MESSIAH will receive more once more the traditional five year penalty for being politically incorrect.
Overreaction from both the police and the secret service.
It’s amazing how talk of grassy knolls brings out the gassy trolls.

Remember, expert witnesses are trained to handle idiots like you and I know all the courtroom tricks.
In reality you may be an intelligent woman and may actually deserve your station in life but please you’re on a permanent ego trip and that’s got to be quite fustrating for you, compassionately put.

I usually don’t give my personal situations the light here, but because you ask about my perception of reality?… I am presently unemployed and have been for 8 months. I had major surgery that caused me not to be available for any new opportunities. I don’t blame politicians , or companies for that situation, it just is. My money is tight as a result, but I will not whine, cry or beg for government handouts, I do this on my own because I live what I preach. So, yeah, my world is brighter than the one you may intimate.
Everyone listen up to Mistressjustice and wait for a really strong economy to do your assassinations. We could handle it then.
And what a creep you are lady to make fun of handicapped people. Oh wait, they should all be dead too, I forgot. In your world anyone with a less than perfect life should be dead.
So it’s baby season all the time, especially in a bad economy, but politicians can only be bumped off in a good economy… I think I’ve got it now.
chapoutier said:
Personally chap, Ann Coulter might look great in an orange jumpsuit busting rocks in Georgia but it wouldn’t be because of inciting people to assassinate a President like Alan Hevesi (D),NY.
No Joy. Even when the economy is booming assassinations are a horrible thing to deal with. Like Duhhhh. Stressers like ecomomic hardship and war will make a stressful event like an assassination even worse for Americans. Of course you know that.
If twisting my views on abortion make you feel better because of your own problems, then go right ahead. A lot of abuse victims have trouble mentally maturing beyond the age of the terrible episode itself. Based on what you have stated about your life, I’d say you are about 11. Good luck, and try to only blog after effective therapy sessions. Don’t go bombing any abortion clinics either.
Kahn- I guess things are relative depending on the viewpoint. I’m assuming you must not be a State employee, because those people are about to get hit hard. I don’t think the media is so powerful to convince so much of the public that things are bad.(according to the polls) I think these people are feeling it. Hell, I’m feeling it. I have family in Ohio and friends in Michigan. The folks there don’t think the economy is doing to swell, and I wouldn’t give CNN all the credit. The media can’t take a job away, or price a trucker out of his living due to gas prices.
#45-
Good luck.
Why don’t you just save us all from headaches and go away? Then we won’t have to waste time reading and responding to your narcissitic, arrogant and politically correct tripe?
Your “list” to ignore reminds me of the blustering brother in law to John Wayne’s The Quiet Man. Every time someone dissed him he would holler at his lackey to pull out his little black book, write the name in said book, and then cross it out.
Pretentious.
Mistess Just-ice
Mistress you really ought to hit a pillow or something. I can see your fingers fluttering faster than a hummingbird’s wings pumping this dreck out.
Yes mistressjustice that is what the thread is all about: we wish these loons on the Left would not do that. Yes, we agree that it is not groovy to joke about it; but that is what Leftist do. Economy becoming a problem? You mean since the Wrong Party took both houses and put us on notice the tax cuts were history? Well ain’t that just a big surprise.
As far as pushing the country over the edge what do you think Obama’s supports will do if he loses, stubs his toe, gets caught in a
Hillarylie or such? They like going over the edge. It does not matter if it is rich college students Chicago 1968 or the less rich in South Central. It happens. Maybe we need a big edge.I thought talk about assassination of a President and others, was a federal offence. I guess I missed the changeover. It’s now called “free speech”, courtesy of the liberals. I think we’re the only country that allows that; some other countries shoot first, ask questions later.
LOLOLOLOLOL. That’s priceless. So now I’m in YOUR head. Hey champ, get some fortitude and just skip past my posts and ignore them and simply refuse to respond to them. Can’t do it can you? Yeah, I guess I’ll put you in my little black book…pretentious or not. I didn’t know I was so powerful here. Thanks for the laugh.
Wow, did that make you feel better about yourself?
Arizona I’m more worried about Hillary’s supporters in Denver. Remember that all female society from The World According to Garp. Just saying. Her supporters are almost completely over the edge already.
Again, I don’t think either side should make jokes or snipes about assassinatioins. I haven’t done a running count over the years, but if it’s more prolific on the left, than we should be the most ashamed.
About as good as your twisting my abortion views around make you feel Joy. You seem to enjoy it as you have obviously twisted my views on the assassination public stress issue here. I feel about as good as you did when you compared me to Hitler on a prior thread. That’s how good I feel Joy.
Well DUHH!
Misstress – I see. You think you are acting as I did and posting in the same mentality, then according to your own hype, you’re about 11 mentally too?
Interesting.
You need a damn straightjacket woman! If anybody needs a lobotamy it’s you ya meglomaniac. Fortitude is something mommy didn’t instill in you, that’s obvious. But I will give you props on saying assassinating Bush is wrong, I’m glad to see you have a few good dendrites left that are capable of firing.
Trendy lefties can block traffic day after day, intimidate business owners, pour concrete on railway lines seriously endangering lives, blockade US military installations, use children as human shields, hold up signs threatening the president with decapitation and murder, along with vulgarities like ‘F… Bush’, hang anti-Bush ‘artwork’ in many public spaces, repeatedly be a public nuisance and more, but that’s ok. One Republican makes a statement in a space that he personally leased that harms or endangers nobody, and he’s shut down and carted off ‘downtown’ within an hour, in complete disregard of the first amendment. If the dems are that determined to rule, then let them. Then watch the US collapse under the weight of their stupidity. I can’t wait to kick all these idiots in the behind and scream in their faces “what did we tell you? huh? WHAT DID WE TELL YOU??” I think this may be the only way ‘common’ sense and conservatism will ever have a chance to thrive again here.
Wait… I’m so confused. 1. MistressINjustice (that’s Hillary, don’t jump) said she was gonna wack BHO in California…???
2. mistressjustice, Elliot Spitzer want’s his Rolex back… or do I have the wrong mistress?? I am sooo confused.
Not precisely, but yeah I tend to stoop to the levels of others on occasion. Just keep that in mind. Now, give me back my effing Hannah Montana t-shirt chick.

You have GOT to be kidding about the media not being able to convince the public. They have been doing nothing but pushing how bad the economy has been for YEARS, how unemployment is bad, etc., and it is very much reflected in the polls despite the economy barreling along (yes, it has slowed a bit in places, but it’s still strong). Much of it is based on speculation, what COULD happen rather than what IS happening. and yes, I’m not a state employee, although my company has many contracts with state, local, and federal agencies. I won’t shed a tear for government getting smaller. Many of those jobs shouldn’t exist in the first place (including ones that sometimes fund mine). If you don’t think the media influences public opinion, then i would say you’re very naive.
Let’s face it. Anyone even hinting at hurting an Obama, Clinton, or any Democrat will be dealt with harshly. The past eight years of raging BDS is about to drop into the memory hole.
I remarked on a post today that Obama would have his wings clipped and some idiot suggested I was hinting at assassination.
When you’re dealing with the juvenile left, this is what to expect. If Obama becomes president, mere criticism of policy will be met with feigned outrage. Just watch.
#42, THAT is awesome!
Anyway, this assassination chic is really disturbing. I didn’t like Bill Clinton, at all, but it never crossed my mind to fantasize about him being murdered. I’m sorry, but there HAS to be some unstable mental element at work amongst the Left. Who, in their right mind, would sit around drawing pictures of a gun to Bush’s head, or posters of his head being ripped off altogether? These people are just sick…
In Ohio, most of our problems are self inflicted. We’ve an administration who is destroying jobs trying to protect people from the ability to make decisions, while at the same time, trying to threaten a company to make a move that’s not to their benefit, and maybe driving them from Ohio as a result.
Eliminating State employees would be a godsend. Do my job for a week and you’ll belive they need to be fired too.
Now we have environmental taxes making problems worse. All that’s not including the fun and corruption that spreads for Cuyhoga county southward.
unfortuantely what passes for the Ohio Republican party isn’t much better. See Taft, Robert and Sonofavitch, George.
Even with all this we still are striving to grow.
Does it suck to be a government employee looking at a downsized job? HYes. If they have skills, then they’ll find other work. Gods, we’ve been hiring for the past year at my place of work, and have some dim bulbs there too.
Well, it is for Democrats, who usually are government employees, unemployed or unemployable to begin with. For those in the private sector when there is a slowdown, they are usually the first to go due to their poor work habits and endless bitching. Yes, our small construction consulting company has experienced a slow-down recently, so I have cut my hours from about 60 hours per week to about 50 (oh the suffering!) Many of our clients are holding back on projects because they are scared to death a Democrat will get elected. However, most are expecting to proceed full bore if McCain wins, so all those unemployed Democrats ought to be hoping for a Republican victory in November.
I don’t know if you appreciate the magnitude of what the reduction of State jobs means. It’s also not so easy to figure out a brand new skill or profession after what sometimes amounts to a decade or more on the state roll.
Exactly how many jobs are there in the private sector that can play a living wage in line to the accustomed standards of living?
More on point, the reduction of state jobs in Florida is going to hit the court system. If you think I’m lying pick up some copies of the past dozen or so Florida Bar News. The reduction of court staff and clerk staff will have a direct effect on our criminal justice system here. Already, funds are drying up for paid court experts which will undoubtably cause cases to get reversed on appeal if they proceed forward without them. Less courtroom and clerk staff means judges are streamlining there dockets and “moving cases along” with extremely favorable plea offers. That’s fine with me in some instances, but probably not too cool for some of the law and order minded folks out there. I don’t have to tell you how more criminals on the streets will affect people. I can only speak from the legal perspective, and I’m sure others can speak of how it the Florida budget crisis affects what they deal with. Again, if you don’t believe me look it all up.
It’s not so cut and dry as to say, yeah go ahead eliminate the jobs. There is a cause and effect relationship going on here.
Golden Knight
I’m sure you will, it’s my second Bible.
The terror to the left will be if companies just stop producing and all private enterprise just stops. Give the liberals their Nirvana complete with the nimrodish( I made a word up) art displays as above….lol
Is business that bad in Manhattan, someone would Accept a couple day lease?
Actually , a coupla hours is OK too…
Anyone see the Rolex??? come on, I get 200 bucks if I find it…
Which is why being a mosquito or a state employee is not a wise career choice.
Why exactly is that fine with you? Let me guess. Punishment is a violation of their civil rights?
I live in Florida also and all I see is a minor correction brought about by bloated coffers from an overheated real estate market. Unemployment is still low and if you want to see it get lower, deport a few million people who shouldn’t be here in the first place.
Just a quick note of thanks to mistressjessica and her group of opponents on here. I enjoyed the heck out of your witty banter. And I say that in all seriousness.

Exactly, which is why MM’s makes a clear case of pointing out their T.L.H. (Typical Liberal Hypocrisy) yet again with the above example for this thread. I should start keeping track of all the T.L.H. brought up on this site; I can have a book written on it in no time at this rate.

So I’ve noticed over the years…What amazes me about libs is that for all their blather about caring for this or that group, the one group I see routinely see stepped on socially and politically is Blue-collar labor that willfully wants to stay off the dole.
After all, if Doctors, Lawyers, and Dentists no longer had the protection of their professioanl societies, and the US allowed UNLIMITED immigration of said employees into the US…you can bet their wages would go down like a rock and they would scream about it…but if happens to blue-collar people, they don’t care…if anything I will hear about the wonders of unmitigated free trade and immigration (as long as it isn’t them)…and particularly if they work inside government…I just don’t feel too much for government employees these days.
This is an observation of mine as I successfully struggle to go from High school educated 26 years ago to college educated today…thanks to the wonders of unrestrained globalism…I had no choice. i am fortunate to be able to make this kind of an arrangement with repect to my other commitments that my 20 something trust-funder cohorts don’t have to put up with.
It would be impossible for everyone like me to make such a jump.
What then??
This is just a comment Mistressjustice
I’m in a musing mood I guess…
What? You mean someone who changes jobs might have to take steps to reduce their lifestyle? I’m shocked.
Imagine, dropping their internet access
seeing less movies a week
eating out less
*gasp* clipping coupons.
Next you’ll tell me that state workers are entitled to their jobs.
You’re not exactly making a solid case MJ.
You say that like it’s a bad thing. As far as I’m concerned, whatever it takes to shrink the size of government can’t be all bad. Now if we can get this to happen on the Federal level….
Barack Obama would have legitimate reason to worry about assassination attempts, all Vince Foster allusions aside.
But, I think the same holds true for John McCain. We have nuts on both sides of the political divide.
Boo-hoo. Like many other people in today econmy, I’ve changed jobs/companies every 3 to 5 years. Each change has brought new challenges and opportunities. Why should it be any easier for government employees?
I have often heard from government employees how underpaid they are and how much more they could be making working for some company. Well, this is the perfect opportunity to show what they are worth. I couldn’t care less what they have been accustomed to. The free market will pay them for what they know and and well they do it. Maybe they will now discover first hand what all that cheap Mexican labor is doing to wages everywhere.
Soon the left will be pouring its hatred on McCain and focusing on his age and life span, the years of torture will be mocked and the left will claim he deserved to be tortured. BO will call one time for “this to stop” and then make sure it goes on. McCain sanity will be questioned after “all that torture,” probably by the leg tingler.
Double standards and the destruction of the middle class are what liberals are all about.
I do appreciate it. Hence my saying that I gleefully welcome the day it happens. As to your second point, boo freaking hoo. I work with a lot of state employees and they are about as useful, skillful, and intelligent as a hemorrhoid, which is what they are.
More boo freaking hoo class warfare garbage. Some times people have to tighten their belt and adjust their “accustomed standards of living” to reflect their actual income and their new circumstances. It’s called welcome to grown ups.
Did I mention “gleeful”?
